Little Cu Chulainn (as I've decided to call the kid, until Jacob and his better half announce a name) is adorable. I had to roll a Will save not to take him with me, when I visited them :)

Sorry for the snail pace. My dissertation is due on the 17th of September and my word count is still close to 0... Out of 15,000. Within the next week i'll be announcing a 2-3 week hiatus from the games I DM, in order to clear the time I need to finish it. Its the final step of my MSc so pacing should be pretty good after that for some time :).

To be completely honest i've been feeling pretty low this week and have completely lacked the motivation to update, despite having an abundance of time.
I'll try to keep momentum up once more. Sorry about that.

I feel you, mate. I'm going through the same thing with my Realm of the Fellnight Queen campaign. PbP does carry a huge risk of GM burnout, especially when you have been running the game with daily updates for several years.
Especially the big fights like this one with lots of GM stuff going on can be a tough nut to crack. The real danger is that after a while, the feeling of guilt over not having posted overrides the enjoyment of the game, and that's a dark spiral that it can be hard to break out of.
I think we all fell that you are doing a tremendous job with this campaign, and I hope your spirits lift soon.

Ricter- i've been thinking that I may have advised you badly to take Dazzling Display. Its actually a full-round action, not a standard I'll allow you to replace it with the feat Cornugon Smash on next level-up if you wish, which I probably should have made you aware of in the first instance. Seems far more Ricter's style and will synergise beautifully with the Fearsomeness Hellknight ability you will later get.

Dazzling display pretty much sucks due to the action opportunity cost. You have to be close, lose a round to potentially debuff creatures for 1-2 rounds.
Much better to go Thug or Rake build...and get it as part of an action on one opponent.
Such as Cornugon Smash.

Certainly thematic, but it ties you into a standard action attack (so it can't trigger on full-attacks) and you have to drop the opponent for it to work.
Also there is the awesome (but a few more levels away) Dreadful Carnage
