"Careful, friends. I'm going to put something unpleasant between us and them."

Ilya casts stinking cloud, centered on space J32. (It should catch the two trolls without hitting Malthir) He then moves 30 feet to K20.

Your Humble Narrator

Hrundar- 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Roorgh- 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (20) + 11 = 31

The troll Malthir struck is clearly affected by the foul vapors of Ilya's stinking cloud, while the other troll seems to be merely somewhat confused by the fog surrounding him.

Note that the cloud functions as fog cloud too, the fog obscuring all sight beyond 5 feet into the cloud. Currently, you have lost sight of the other two trolls, and they have lost sight of you. Fenna is up.

Fenna would indeed have cast shield of faith on whoever wanted one.

Fenna sits astride Dandelion, calmly watching the battle unfold.

Delay until after Kalev.

Your Humble Narrator

Assume you cast on Casimir and Malthir then.

One of the trolls emerges near the wounded 'Hrundar', having skirted around the strange fog cloud. He bellows in rage as he prepares to attack next round.

I'm not updating the map again just for that- the newcomer is two squares north and one square right of Hrundar (the troll Malthir is engaged with).

Male (HP 26/71, AC- 23 T- 15 FF- 18 CMD- 28, F +11, R +10, W +6, P +15*, In +3*, AOO +17) Half-orc Ranger (Guide) 7/Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) 1

Kalev charges the wounded troll with his ranseur, hoping to take it down before its legendary regeneration kicks in.

Moving to K-L 25-26 and using his 20 ft. reach.
Attack: (Charge + Power Attack + Inspire Courage) 1d20 + 11 + 2 - 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 11 + 2 - 2 + 1 = 14
Damage: 2d6 + 10 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (2, 6) + 10 + 6 + 1 = 25

Your Humble Narrator

The ranseur cuts into the troll and fells him- Hrundar falls to the ground unconcious, but his non-lethal wounds are already rapidly healing...

Fenna is up.

Once Kalev charges forward to bring down the wounded troll, Fenna rides behind him, calling upon Aroden's glory to disable the giant emerging from the fog.

"May the vision of His sight blind this foul creature."

Move to M25 and cast colour spray past Kalev at the troll leaving the cloud at L28.

You taking the AOO or are you casting defensively? Alternatively you could cast from O28 without being in a threatened square.

Your Humble Narrator

Ah yes, my mistake. Had you in M26 thinking it was M25.

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23

The troll Fenna targets shakes off her colour spray with the same ease he ignored the vapours of the stinking cloud, grinning as the magic washes over him.

The final troll reappears most of the way up the hill, having skirted around the stinking cloud on the other side.

Sorry, noble leader. I already talked over my action with Alex before you posted. Just didn't have time to get it online. I'm sticking by it and letting the remaining trolls do their thing. You are just going to have to react accordingly.

Seeing the lead troll down, but already starting to regenerate, Casimir drops the wand he has just used and sprints across the hilltop, his steps flying with magical speed. He rips a flask of alchemist fire from his bandoleer and grasps it firmly as he comes to a halt next to Kalev and nods to the downed troll. (square J24)

Malthir, this should keep that one down, while you tackle the one coming up the north side of the hill. I'll help the others with the remaining two once I deliver this.

Taking careful aim, he hurls the explosive flask at the green heap in front of him. Ranged touch attack vs grid intersection H29 top right - AC 5 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 8 - 2 = 17 - 1 fire splash damage.

As the burning liquid sears its way into the skin of the unconcious Hrundar, Casimir yells out with wild exuberance:

I LOVE THE SMELL OF BURNING TROLL IN THE AFTERNOON - SMELLS LIKE VICTORY! sorry, couldn't resist - this also counts as continuing IC.

Your Humble Narrator

As Casimir hurls the alchemists fire at "Hrundar", causing the healing process to immediately stop for the troll leader. Without an inspection, the Guardians are unsure whether Hrundar is still alive, but if he is hes certainly not going to be getting up in the next few seconds.

The troll closest to Kalev steps out of Ilya's stinking cloud, muttering to himself in Giant as he glances over at his fallen fellow troll- ignoring the burly ranger and launching itself at Fenna in a howling, green mass of teeth and claws. The gnome's sturdy armour and the training to fight giants she gained in her youth combines to confound the troll, and only his bite catches her.

Giant:

Stupid Hrundar... You were just the errand boy, not the leader. To think a newcomer like you would truly be favoured by Nagrundi...

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26 Bite (hit)

Confirming orignal post, Malthir dismounts and lops off its head to make sure it doesn't rise again and then turns to face the newest troll.

Your Humble Narrator

Malthir beheads the troll leader with his flaming sword- the effect doing little to break the morale of the other three, who roar in rage.

Ilya is up.

Your Humble Narrator

Think Tanner didn't notice the update. Bump...

My new message updates are really hit and miss lately. I saw this toward the top of the cue, but it didn't say that there were any new posts.

Ilya casts summon monster III to call forth a crocodile. Will have it appear adjacent and south of the troll threatening Kalev.

Your Humble Narrator

Kk, note that as the spell doesn't finish until your initiative next round you can change where its going up until it appears if you wish.

The troll closest to Malthir is clearly wary of the flaming sword in the Baron's hand, but nevertheless launches an attack. Malthir's shield and armour are proof against most of the troll's fury, but one massive claw latches into Malthir's neck, blood spurting from out of Malthir's full plate.

Bite- 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19, 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

Claw 1- 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12, 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Claw 2- 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28, 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

Crit threat...

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28, 1d6 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Malthir takes 20 points of damage. Kalev is up.

Kalev looks slightly worried with Fenna so close the the troll. Looking around quickly, he drops his ranseur, steps past (almost over) Fenna while drawing his great axe, then swings at the beast.

Squeezing past, taking AoO (with Mobility AC 24), and activating Ranger's Focus. Ending in N-O 26-27.
Attack: (Focus, Inspire Courage, Power Attack) 1d20 + 11 + 4 + 1 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 11 + 4 + 1 - 2 = 19

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14

The troll lunges for Kalev with a claw as he shifts around the battlefield, but can't penetrate the fine breastplate armour. Kalev's axe sinks into his foe and the greenskin grins at his worthy foe, wincing a little but not overly concerned by the blow.

Fenna is up.

Preparing a prayer in her mind, she waits patiently.

Move to P27 and ready to cast colour spray once the troll gets within 15'.

Your Humble Narrator

The final troll asends the hill, only to have a spray of illusionary colour sent hurling his direction. The troll barely manages to resist the spell, hurling his javelin at Fenna's mount Dandelion in a cunning move to make things difficult for the Gnome. The hound barks in pain and defiance as the javelin pierces its hide.

Eager to finish off the troll that Kalev has already injured, Casimir grips his Aldori blade firmly in both hands and prepares to engage.

Your Humble Narrator

His wounds slowly healing up, the troll fighting Kalev bellows in laughter as Casimir's sure strike becomes a complete miss. Ignoring the agile warrior, the troll turns his attention to Kalev and manages to cut him with a nasty claw wound, before taking a step back from the trio.

Malthir declares the target of his smite and walks forward into the waiting claw attack of the Troll-the blow glancing harmlessly from his divine protection and his full-metal suit of armour. In return, Malthir's flaming sword arcs up and singes the flesh of his latest foe.

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19 AOO miss

Ilya is up- crocodile time.

With a puff of smoke, a large crocodile appears beside Kalev (L25, L26, M25, M26) and attacks the troll. It's normally green scales are instead golden yellow, flecked with orange, betoken of its celestial origination.

Grapple check 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30

Ilya turns his attention to the two trolls menacing Kalev and Fenna. With a distinctly audible pop, the elven wizard teleports a short distance from his original position (shift as swift action to L22) and begins casting a spell. A thick layer of viscous oil covers the area in front of Kalev and Fenna. (Grease on O28, O29, P28, P29)

Your Humble Narrator

The crododile pulls the troll closer with a a lunge, latching onto the troll's midriff as it wrestles the beast. Ilya's grease spell blocks the closest troll's most obvious route to pumme Fenna and Kalev.

Having no success against the armoured brute with the flaming sword, Malthir's foe withdraws back away from the combat, further than the armoured Paladin can easily reach.

Kalev is up.

Uhm, Alex...the only reason the horse is in the cloud to begin with is because YOU put him there when Maladin dismounted. The horse would probably not wander in there on its own accord, and there are plenty of other squares he could be instead.

Your Humble Narrator

I didn't have it wander into the cloud lol, I just put the horse adjacent to Malthir's dismounted position as I hadn't seen a need to put it on the map before that. Never mind the nauseated horse stuff we'll assume you charged a square higher than declared to avoid it- the area was not very clear with the texture I was using for the stinking cloud in previous rounds.

+1, it is by far the most powerful 3rd level spell in the game, escpecially for damage output. We are averaging about 50points of damage per round, think about possibly doubling that. I think we would be willing to help pay for some scroll to augment your memorized spells as well.

Will do. I will prepare it the next time we rest.

My 24 hour policy kicks in, hope your just busy and nothing sinister Fenna :).

Fenna shifts Dandelion to Q27, pulling out and hurling a vial of alchemists fire at the grappled, wounded troll- aiming for the lower left intersection of M2. The alchemist's fire sails east of her target square, but the splash still catches the Troll in the blast- the troll's wounds suddenly become lethal at the touch of flame, leaving the crocodile grappling an unconcious but still living troll.

That's the action I was planning anyway, except that it'd take a standard action to retrieve the alchemist's fire, meaning that it couldn't be thrown until next round.

I'm going to be at a convention from tomorrow afternoon until Monday; I might get wi-fi there, but you can NPC me from then until I get back anyway, so I don't hold everyone up.
