Your Humble Narrator

The wolf tilts his head to the side at you as he asks-"You are the pack alpha small one? I am surprised you can assert your authority over the larger members of your pack. Your pack has my gratitude for returning Fang to us- we have no such means of healing like you seem to have. I am known as Red Eyes, and I speak for the wolves of the forest. Fang tells me you requested to speak with me...?

You get the impression your greeting was well received.

That thing looks like a cross between a Worg and a dire wolf. He may have been magically bred. His actions does not hint at evil, but perhaps you had better check just to be sure, Malthir?

** spoiler omitted **

Casimir, I think under normal circumstances I would do it but I hesitate to do anything to make them our enemies or set them on edge. Let's wait to see how this plays out, my ability to find evil with Iomedae's blessing only shows me great evils anyways. We have no reason to test this creature yet. If they decide they are not our friends or don't want to help us then I will chance it.

Glancing at the wolves all around them, Casimir nods quietly to Malthir.

Wise choice. I think we would sorely regret upsetting this bunch.

Male Human Paladin 1

Fenna, let him know that you will be telling us what he says as well as translating for us. This is what I would like to say to him, let me know if any of your are opposed to it, I think they can help us and we can help them.

Tell him that we would like to propose an alliance or "joining of packs" of sorts for mutual benefit. What we would like from them is information. What can we offer in exchange he will ask? Humanoid magics and swords in friendship against the enemies of the pack. We will also direct the other humaniods in the Greenbelt that you are not to be bothered or attacked as long as you they offer us the same. Tell him that in the future there could be more humanoids moving into the area and that we don't want to have conflict with him or his kind.

What say you Guardians, should we make this kind of offer? He may not accept, but at least he knows our intentions.

hp 66/66, AC 26/17/20, CMD 23/24, F: +8, R: +11, W: +7, init: +5, per: +10 Human Bard 6/Fighter 2

Casimir nods.

Well spoken, Malthir. I think we all recognize the value of friendship with this pack. Also tell him of how we defeated the trollhound and trapdoor spider. We could show him the skull of the hound as proof.

We should seek information about the happenings in these woods, in particular anything about Tuskgutter, the unicorn, the kobolds and the bandits.

Female Human, Rostlander Celestial Sorcerer 2

Pardon me, I have a bit of catch up in here. Checked thread this morning, but nothing much was happening, then it exploded I guess.

Vaysh sighs listening to Karina’s reply to the group. Vaysh looks at Karina with hard stare and begins speaking, We are all tied together. Those around this fire realize that there are things wrong in this world that need to be changed, Vaysh says while gesturing to her companions. These changes do not start with those who are near and dear to us. They start with strangers, as we were when we formed the Guardians. We have banded together to stand for a better world, mayhaps we do not act with self interest as you understand it, but even our actions may have their own selfishness to them.

Vaysh lets her words hang for a few moments, then continues, Many times people will turn their backs on others, for whatever reason and even kin is cast aside. It is good that you feel bound to your sister in this way, and I hope that you are able to find the resolution that you seek. Realize though, blood does not make a bond strong, that strength is found within the heart and soul of a person. I hope that your sister has the resolution and love for you that you still hold for her, her eyes hold on Karina. I know not if any of this means something to her. If her story is true, there are some things that this woman holds dear, mayhaps she will understand similar.

Vaysh looks down before continuing, Myself, I hope to one day bring a child into this world. I hope that the world will be a good place for my younglings to grow, a place where neighbors will look out for each other. If I were not to look out for this child, to protect others that this razorback may hurt the world that I hope to see will never be realized. My own children may need someone to help them in the future, I only hope that some will learn from the example that I hope to set. Mayhaps I do this for everyone, mayhaps I do this for myself, finishing her thoughts of herself, Vaysh once again looks up to meet Karina’s gaze.

As for the boy, he is as much to me as you are, and up to this point I have assisted you. Realize that all of us gathered here have assisted you in your chosen action, even though you are ‘nothing’, as you put it, to us. You have come asking us to put aside our personal stake in this matter for your reasons, and I am willing to allow you your chance at your sister’s redemption. Mayhaps you should think on the kindness that is shown to you and your family before you judge the kindness we are willing to show to others.

Upon hearing her companions become aware of another coming to camp, Vaysh steps up and to look into the darkness. She ensures that she does not lose awareness of Karina while trying to discern what comes to the fireside. She listens to Fenna relate what Fang has come for, and follows with wonderment in her eyes as they are lead to the conclave of wolves. She looks to the creatures with trepidation as they approach and the wolves close in on their flanks, but looks to the gigantic creature with more awe than fright.

The things of beauty in this world, they catch my breath in my throat.

"Has your pack had any trouble with a particularly large boar, whom the humanoid settlers call Tuskgutter? He has recently grown more hostile towards our people, and has even go so far as to seriously wound one of our young."

An alliance with your pack is one I would welcome- especially against the Twitches-When-Dead we have been slaying in the area. You are honourable creatures for slaying the troll-hound- I was so focused on destroying the troll, I must have allowed the hound some spark of life to heal from...

The one you call Tuskgutter, we call the Forest Lord- and we have no quarrel with him. He is a solitary creature, and although he has a terrible temper he does not harm any wolf unless they enter his territory. I do not know the circumstances of his attack on your pack, but I expect your young strayed too far from your territory. The Forest Lord can be found to the south-west- head in that direction until you cross the bridge, then head west into the forest. You will find him... or perhaps he shall find you first...

An alliance between packs is something worth discussing however, Fenna Thistleswade. Many trolls have been heading south through our forest of late...

The huge wolf pauses, and then to your surprise rasps out in broken common to the rest of the group-

Greetings to your pack, Guardians of the Greenbelt.

Casimir bows to the huge wolf.

Greetings, Lord Red-eyes. We are honored by the hospitality of you and your pack.

Not certain of the wolfs grasp of common, he then asks Fenna to translate.

Fenna, could you ask him if he knows anything about the unicorn? Also, if there is anything we can do to help the pack.

I'm also curious about the origin of a wolf of his size. Could you ask him to tell us how he came to the forest?

Male Human Paladin 1

Interesting, a wolf who can speak common, now this is a story I want to hear!

In conversation...

A wolf that can speak human tongue, Red Eyes you have defintely surprised us. I too would be interested to hear your story. If you wish, we can share our story in return? Is there something to the south that these trolls go too? I am worried that the trolls are on the move, or is something driving them from their dens, do you know? What about other creatures or areas that we should be wary of or stay clear of?

Later in the conversation.

Red-Eyes, the two legged folk that live in this land, they are under our packs protection. If we tell our people not to hurt or harm your pack or your kin, will you give us your word that you and yours will do the same? Of course we expect you to defend yourselves if your are provoked though. We wish this alliance to be of mutual benefit and trust.

Fenna allows the others to speak their pieces, offering translation if Red-Eye's understanding of common becomes a barrier.

"Hmm, if the Forest Lord is only defending his territory, then perhaps further conflict can be avoided, do you think he would be likely to agree to allow some leeway for our people traversing his lands? In any case, the boy's wounds are terrible, beyond even the power of magic to heal, at least without the hair from a unicorn's mane... of course, where could such an elusive creature be found?"

"As my friend asks, do you know what is causing the trolls to leave their lairs and move through your forests?"

Your Humble Narrator

Fenna can I get another diplomacy roll please?

Fenna Thistleswade wrote:

You find yourself translating almost everything, Red Eyes' grasp of Common is poor.

In honour of our new alliance I offer this information freely to your pack if your intentions are honourable- Fang and some of the other wolves have spotted the Horned-White-Horse at the western edges of the forest, but she has not been seen for some time now. She is a great protector of the forest, so please do not harm her.

As for the Forest Lord he will not even speak to you and cannot be reasoned with- he is too old and grumpy to do anything but charge those who enter his territory.

Fenna Thistleswade wrote:

"As my friend asks, do you know what is causing the trolls to leave their lairs and move through your forests?"

Our pack have no idea, but we have only managed to kill a few. Many more seem to be travelling through the forest, heading deep into the heat of the Greenbelt. Were it not for the devastation they cause to the natural balance as they pass through, we would leave them be. As you may have heard, I only recently won control of this pack and I am somewhat new to this forest.

I was born in a strange underground chamber, and kept alone in a strange circular room, fed daily by a human. One day I outgrew the chains that held me and I broke them. I thought to slay my slaver, only to find that he calmly watched me leave, and opened the door for me. This was many, many moons ago and far to the north. I have grown larger and stronger since that day.

There is a vicious creature who inhabits some old ruins with a pool of water a little west and south of the human river camp. A massive bear that does not seem to hunt or leave the ruins- It is unnatural and the pack stays away from the area...

If you honour your end of the bargain, we shall honour ours. If we find ourselves hunted by your kind, know that we shall not remain prey for long; and that our teeth and claws are sharp... Red Eyes growls menacingly, and howls. The sounds of dozens of wolves howling alongside him reaches a crescendo, and Red Eyes seems to... grin at you as the noise finishes.

Fenna, tell Red-Eyes that if he should need us, to send fang to find us, we will come as quickly as we can to help him and his pack and thank him for his word about our people, we will try our best to live up to our end of our bargain.
So off to explore the area SouthWest of here to try and find the "Forest Lord"?

Is the human river camp west of here? So that ruin would be west of Tuskgutter by our reckoning and then the unicorn possibly somewhere west of there?

Vaysh, had a ? for you in the OOC discussion thread.

Is the human camp he mentions the bandit camp at the Thorn River Ford that we attacked, or another camp? Now that we have an idea of where to look for the unicorn, it may be an idea to seek it out first. It sounds like Tuskgutter is only a threat to those that invade his territory.

We don't know what it believes to be its territory though, and it is still a threat in the area that the hunters have asked us to rid them of, I would still like to kill the beast, for the childs sake and possibly others. I wouldn't mind looking for the unicorn as well after that.

Female Human, Rostlander Celestial Sorcerer 2

Vaysh stares in wonderment at the massive wolf. Such a beautiful creature, and he seems to have some sense of nobility in his heart. I have dealt with wolves and foxes before, but none such as this one. HE SPEAKS! What wondrous gifts have been bestowed upon Red-Eyes!

With Red-Eye’s greeting to the Guardians, Vaysh curtseys low to the wolf lord. Greetings to you and your pack as well, milord. Does your pack have a name, or are they only identified by your most impressive form and leadership?

Vaysh listens to the questions that the group has for the wolf lord, then speaks another of her own, Fenna, can you find out if there is more that he wishes of us? I am willing to show my friendship to this regal animal in more than peaceful accord and a shared desire to remove devastating trolls from these lands.

When Vaysh has heard the answer, she poses a further question, I have lived among canines all of my life, and know that while their eyesight is keen, their sense of smell is far better. They know those around them through sense of smell from my time with them. I wonder if wolves are not so similar to the canines that I have grown with, or if Red-Eyes and his pack would benefit from truly knowing who we are. If they wish to smell those that they enter this agreement with, I will submit to their muzzle’s inquiry.

If they recognize by sight:
Vaysh pulls the cloak over her a bit more tightly, then looks forward to Red-Eyes, My father came to these lands as the cold first set in. I have heard that he traveled towards the joining of the two rivers, though I know not where his final destination was. I know not if your pack has met with him or encountered him. I have both a picture and a description of him, though I do not know how much use either would be.

My father stands the same height as Malthir, Vaysh points to her paladin companion. His hair is grey as the fur of your coat, and he wears it around his maw as well. He bears a scar, the mark of a fight from many changes of the seasons, across his face that barely missed his left eye. I know not if I have any smell peculiar to my kind, but I would hazard that if I do he would bear a similar scent to me.

As the meeting closes, I have one more question that I would like to ask Lord Red-Eyes, if he would permit it. It is of a more personal nature, so I do not know if he wishes our respective packs presence.
Question to Red-Eyes:
Vaysh steps forward a bit to look at Red-Eyes and allow him to see her as she speaks. While she has kept Fenna with her to translate as necessary, she hopes to make the request without the need of translation. Do you want to learn our language better?

We have always referred to ourselves simply as the pack... Red Eyes pack shall be our name henceforth, now that we are in negotiation with other packs.

The next time we come across one who Twitches-When-Dead, we shall consider calling upon your aid, if the beasts are too fierce or numerous for the pack to handle. As you recommend, I shall use Fang as an intermediary- he speaks highly of you all.

The great black wolf nods, and the pack closes in around you. It is disconcerting but none of the wolves touch you, they merely inhale your various scents, and then Red Eyes does his own rounds of the group, noticeably nuzzling both Fenna and Vaysh.

Vaysh wrote:

There is much about you Two Legs that fascinates me, and unlike the other wolves I seem to have been blessed with the capacity to understand some of it. Yes, I would like to learn your language- but times are too dangerous right now. Perhaps if your pack succeeds in bringing stability to the area, we would have time for such pleasures.

Red Eye seems very pleased with the talk with you- his attitude is now helpful and you may see more of him as the AP progresses. I'm awarding 450XP each for securing an alliance with them- it could be critical in the days to come, and there was some excellent role-play there.

Who says that will change Casimir ;). See the OOC thread please- you will need to go back to Oleg's to level.

Leveling doesn't mean that tuskie still won't one shot you out of your hit points :)

Throughout the week after you begin to spread the word of your alliance with Red Eyes and his pack, a hunter claims a huge black wolf with red eyes saved him from a trollhound in the forest.

Oleg and Svetlana seem to be doing very well, and the reduction in bandit activity is clear as Oleg gets busier and busier with trade. Things occasionally seem a little tense between him and Svetlana as the extra stress takes its toll on Oleg.

Kesten gets a little friendlier with the group as the week passes, the sombre and gruff man seems to be assured that your intentions are good. He frequently spars with his men and invites the group to train with them if they wish. He is a notable warrior, and possesses an expertise with his notched battleaxe that rivals the group's own warrior talent.

Karina is very quiet over the week, but is noticeably staying very close to Malthir much of the time- she tentatively asks him to teach her the ways of Iomadae. She avoids crowds and mingling in the evenings, often choosing to stand on the battlements with Fenna or Kesten, looking up at the stars and wondering if she will ever see her sister again. She seems very sad much of the time, cheering up only when Malthir offers her any comfort...

We ask Oleg and the hunters in the area to spread the word around the Greenbelt that anyone breaking our alliance with the wolves except in self defense will have to answer to us and that the wolves are under our protection. We ask them to spread the story of the wolf helping the huntr as well as proof of our alliance. We let Oleg have the troll hound skull if he wishes to place at the fort. I am sure it is an unusual and large skull.

Malthir notices her attention and is at first a little unsure of how to react to it. He does agree to teach her of Iomedae's ways though as well as extend the invitation to any others that may be interested, especially Kesten or his men.

Malthir will also go to see the boy and see if he has awakened. He takes Vaysh with him if she is so inclined. Some RP there if she comes.

Karina:
Karina, what it is that bothers you so? I understand that you wonder of your sister, but the gods will as they may. If you are meant to see your sister again, it will happen. If she is meant to be redeemed, this will also happen. If not, then you must continue your life without her. I think you are a good person, but you must ask yourself, what do you want out of life Karina? Spending your days grieving when there is so much ahead of you. Adventure, love, family, these are the things that await you should you embrace them! Malthir will share the story of his brother and family and of his loss so that she knows that she is not the only one who has lost.

There are several nights that Malthir talks Casimir into re-telling the stories of their battles and trials so far in the Greenbelt. It helps to remind him of the good so far they have done in the area, but how much there is still left to do.

Later in the week Malthir emerges from their beds early one day in just his skivies carrying his longsword...and drops to his knees I have been blessed by our Lady of the Sword! She came to me last night and blessed me! As Oleg looks on with strange look in his eye and several party member look out wondering if he has lost his mind, he takes his sword and proceeds to slice his hand open. The blood flowing freely from the wound, he then concentrates and the wounds quickly seals itself and he looks at his hand in wonderment...

okay, time to get some work done :)

Karina listens eagerly to your story, and remains silent for some time. Sat out by the fire in the evening at Oleg's, she rests her head on Malthir's shoulder and sighs heavily.

I have never had the pillar of strength your deity is for you Malthir... You are so sure of yourself, and you make everything look so easy... Kressle was always the strong one, and I always relied on her... This is why I want to know more about the Inheritor... I wish to understand what it is that makes your faith strong, and the teachings that guide your life. What do I want out of life? I am not sure... But I don't want to be alone tonight... she finishes, and rests her hand on Malthir's...

A few days into your training, Oleg introduces you to Jhod Kavken, a recent arrival at the Trading Post. He is a tall, heavy set man, in his early fortiess and his posture suggests he carries a terrible burden- he stoops somewhat and keeps his eyes downcast as Oleg introduces him. When he speaks he mets your gazes and there is an... almost frightening intensity in his grey eyes.

Greetings to you all... Oleg tells me you have been doing much good work in the area. As a priest of Erastil I am most humbled by the wisdom you showed in befriending the local wolf pack; and in the month that bears the name of my deity, this is a good sign of things to come. I will be staying at Oleg's for a time as I have business in the area, but if you require spellcasting services, a blessing from Erastil or spiritual guidance, I can provide them for your group.

Malthir will share the story of his brother and family and of his loss so that she knows that she is not the only one who has lost.

Karina:
Malthir shifts so that Karina has to look him in the eyes and takes her hands in his, You have been through much, to look to comfort in others is natural. You think I am sure of myself, I have many doubts. Am I doing the right thing, am I making the right decisions, will I survive to help these people? My faith helps me to believe that it will turn out as it should. For now though, I am committed to my cause and the inheiritor, I can't be allow myself...other commitments. I hope you understand that. I am not mad or uncomfortable, I am honored that you might think of me in any way other than friend but I can not return any of those feelings for now. He lets his words linger for a second before slowly rising and leaving her to her thoughts.

Has there been any discussion yet about expanding Oleg's? The guards and now Jhod will be staying outside of the fort, we seem to have outgrown it. This week may be a good time to start an expansion?

I've been thinking the same thing. The Guardians should have a place of their own. Maybe right next to Oleg's or maybe someplace else, like the Thorn River site.

Just finishing up things at work now. Will have a Rocky-style training montage up later tonight.

Karina grabs your hand as you rise, and stands, still holding it. She whispers into your ear-

"I'm not asking for a commitment, brave soldier of the Inheritor... You say you have doubts? I too have many. Why not take solace and comfort in each other's company for a night..."

Karina begins to nibble on your ear as she finishes, and you can feel her hot breath on your ear and neck...

Is anyone going to speak for the Guardians in response to Jhod?

Is anyone going to speak for the Guardians in response to Jhod?

Karina:
He says softly, as he puts space between himself and Karina, No Karina, this is not what the inheiritor wants for us. My code doesn't allow me such comforts, nor would I want such a thing until I find someone to share the rest of my life with. I afraid I can not give you what you want, forgive me. Again, I am not mad but this can go no further. He says the last sentence in a most forceful tone. He gets up and says a nice goodnight to her and then walks off for some fresh air outside of the fort alone to think about the nights events.

I have enough on my hands, I will let someone else deal with Jhod :)

Red-Eyes:
Vaysh nods, Times are dangerous. In the future, I would like to speak with you further on this and aid in your learning. Mayhaps, I could learn something from running with your pack, or doing my best to keep up.

Thank you for your audience, Red-Eyes Pack. I will pray for the Inheritor to watch over you. Her final words being said, Vaysh moves backwards with her head bowed.

Oleg’s
Arrival @ Oleg’s:
Vaysh looks for the hunter who spoke of Tuskgutter to them in the past. If she finds the man, she approaches him, The Guardians have sadly not been able to deal with the razorback that you have spoken of, but do not think that the duty is not on our minds. We have gathered information on him, and believe that we need to hone ourselves before taking on such a fierce adversary. The Lady of Valor will aid us in our training, and in a short time we will be triumphant over the warthog.

Kitchen Time:
Vaysh spends much of her free time helping Svetlana with the cooking. As has been noticed the one time in camp, her cooking is getting better than when the Guardians first set out from Rostland. Missus Leveton, I still know the favor that you have asked of me, but we have not yet come across the radishes. I will continue to look for them. Vaysh then drops her head and her hair takes its naturally protective place over her mark of Iomedae, I have a favor to ask you of my own. The Guardians are not spending as much time away from the fort as I anticipated. I know that we shall in the future, but I am still uncertain of my skills as you have been teaching them to me. Mayhaps one of these nights I can try to cook for the assembled with you as my assistant, rather than the reverse?

Oleg:
Vaysh approaches Oleg to deal with merchant matters during the course of their stay, as she shows him what the group has assembled she asks him, How do you fair with all of the change around you Mister Leveton? I fear that the world that you have come to know down here is changing, and I cannot say that I know what you think of this.

As Vaysh sells, she pulls aside the music box, unwilling to part with the unique music box. I think that I will keep this. It seems unusual to me, while it does not detect of anything beyond its physical form it is clearly wondrous in its ability to replicate musical sounds. I have never seen anything like this before.

The first night that they are back at Oleg’s, Vaysh heads up to the wall to speak with Fenna. Miss Thistleswade, I wondered if I could have a moment of your time, and mayhaps more. Vaysh looks to her gnomish companion for approval before approaching and looking out from the palisade wall. It is strange, I have spent time here that you have not, I have looked from this wall towards all directions, but I now feel as if I am intruding on your solitude to come here, her head dips with the admission.

The silence lasts for a short while, with most it might be uncomfortable, but silence fits well in Vaysh’s thoughts while with Fenna. I wanted to learn more of your faith. Your beliefs and mine are tied together, my Lady, Vaysh says as she gingerly touches the mark on her face, Was the Herald, until we…until he…um…until. I think it might serve me well to learn of the Last of the Azlanti from you.

More to come, but off for the moment. I will talk to Jhod, just haven’t gotten that far yet. Lots more thoughts going ATM.

Svetlana beams.

Why of course my dear... I will of course want to taste it before anyone else does, in case something goes wrong- But i'd be delighted to let you take up more of the slack sometime this week.

Weeeell... It's all very stressful, but i'm up to the task. Perhaps i'll hire some help...

Oleg embraces Vaysh. and continues-

Your kind to worry about me dearheart, but I knew what I was signing up for when I agreed to be an agent of the Swordlords. These past couple of weeks are nothing to the fear I had for my wife at the hands of those bandits...

The music box is a sweet thing, if it has sentimental value to you i'd insist on you keeping it.

During the week at Oleg's Edric lends a hand to any in need. Around his companions he has learned their movements and when helping in their tasks he seems to be able to almost read their thoughts providing just the right help at just the right time. More than once though Edric has found himself draw away from the crowded trading post and in to the land he found so foreign. Through talking with local hunters and studying the local flora and fauna he has honed his senses and become quite the woodsmen. In the mean time he practices the art of sword play with Casimir and discusses strategy with Malthir. He has also started to train one of the bandit's horses in the ways of combat.
This can be either Cas or Mal's horse it doesn't matter, Training should only take 3 weeks but I'm not sure if I can train while exploring. Also I'll be looking for a name for the horse.

Female Human, Rostlander Celestial Sorcerer 2

Vaysh frequently spends time with Casimir as the two of them work to further their own magic. She attends physical sparring with Kesten when Casimir does, but primarily seeks to spend time with Casimir and Fenna while honing her magical talents. She trains to learn the magic that Fenna knows, having seen the use that the gnome’s ability to speak with animals has, while she in turn hopes to help Casimir pick up magic of his own.

When Vaysh finally is able to conjure floating lights akin to Fenna’s she rejoices loudly. She immediately bounds over to her gnomish companion who is enjoying her time of solitude.

Fenna! Fenna! I have conjured the lights that I have seen you make. They are wonderful, floating bastions of brightness, and I can will them into so many different shapes. This is so different than many of the magics that I have studied in the past to master. Little that has come to me until this time has had such a dramatic appearance on the world around me. Vaysh grows a bit more pensive, They remind me of Heart. Brightness came with him everywhere, and you could tell his mood simply by the color of the light that radiated from him.

Suddenly Vaysh’s face stops as a thought crosses her mind. Her head drops low, with shield sliding down to protect her entire, I’m sorry, Miss Thistleswade, in my excitement I forgot myself. I did not mean to be so forward, nor to act with undo familiarity. I will control my outbursts in the future.

Her apologizes made, Vaysh starts to leave the gnomes company. I should not think of Miss Thistleswade in such a familiar manner. All of this is so confusing with some asking me to call them by their given names. It is easier with Sir Orlavsky, I find that I have little in common with him. He is marked by a solitude that he only seems to want to break with Talia. I can understand the care for the animal he shows, but with Miss Thistleswade I wish to foster friendship. Mayhaps familiarity begins to blur such lines, I must do better about keeping them clear.

Her time in camp is rarely spent without some light conjuration floating under her control somewhere nearby as she experiments with her newfound magical ability. She plays with her light as Casimir relates stories round the fire at night, or while she is singing or dancing with those who come to the post. Her eyes are alight with joy as she watches the light that she is able to conjure move freely, and it is clear that such an obvious display is somehow important to Vaysh.

The joy that is in Vaysh’s eyes when she uses her new ability is in stark contrast to the darker look that comes into them when she takes note of Karina and Malthir spending time together.

I guess that is what he finds attractive! I might think that a rutting hog would find beauty in her dark face, not my noble paladin. I could convince her to leave…no, that is not why my Lady has given me these gifts. I should not even entertain such thoughts. If Malthir wishes to make a mistake with her, that is his right to do so.

More to come again, but figure I should get some more posted up.

neerfed my post...grrrr

Malthir turns as he leaves, Karina, where are you sleeping? I think I know the answer to this From now on you have my bunk. Fenna and Vaysh will make you feel comfortable there, I will be staying with Kesten and his men. You'd better get a good nights sleep tonight your first lesson starts tomorrow morning and the lady of the sword will be watching you! Goodnight Karina. Malthir goes and collects his gear and talk to the rest of his companions about Karina, asking Fenna and Vaysh to try and make her feel more welcome.
He stays with Kesten and his men, hoping to show them that he doesn't feel he is above them for the rest of their stay at Oleg's.

Casimir:
Cas, you probably know more about women than I do, what do you do with one when you think they have feelings for you but you don't feel the same? I tried to be nice to Karina, but I am not sure if I was able to get through to her. I can be her teacher, but only if she doesn't have romantic feelings for me. I want to help her, but not in that way.

Fenna & Vaysh:
Fenna, Vaysh, can you try to make Karina feel more comfortable in camp? She is young and lonely and I fear she has developed feelings for me due to these reasons. I don't share them but I still want to help her. She sleeps alone, outside, I can imagine that it makes it worse, so I have decided to give her my bunk. Can you please make her feel comfortable? Vaysh are you going to ride out with me to see the boy, Noleski, that was hurt?

Female Human, Rostlander Celestial Sorcerer 2

@ Svetlana:
Vaysh nods vigorously, I would not wish to subject all of those who come here to the poor cooking skills I came to these lands with. She looks downcast for a moment, I never appreciated what my mother tried to teach me, now I find myself wishing that I was a better student of hers and not always running off after my father. Vaysh stops and laughs, I say that now, but look what has brought me this far from home, but my father. A few tears start in her eyes, and she grabs a wash towel to wipe them away, Crying already, and we have not gotten to the onions yet.

@ Oleg:
Vaysh smiles at Oleg, You have been kind to me as long as I have known you Mister Leveton. If you ever need to speak with someone or need some aid, feel free to ask it of me. I have much to repay you for the kindness you have shown.

You are the Guardians predecessor in this place, taking and bringing some civilization to these rugged lands. What are your hopes and dreams for the future of this land? While you are not in the fields with us, I think that your voice is an important one to be heard back in Rostland when we are done here.

@ Jhod:
Vaysh looks over the priest, and makes her groups introductions, Good Mister Kavken, as Oleg has most likely told you, we are the Guardians of the Greenbelt. On behalf of my companions, I bid you welcome to the Stolen Lands. I believe that it is an excellent aid to the trading post to have someone of your skills and faith on site. You speak of business, what business is it that brings you to these lands?

Vaysh listens to his response, but two questions stay ever present on her mind, I have studied the religions of the world, with a focus on the Inheritor during my youth. Old Deadeye is known to me, though mayhaps not as well as he should be. You speak of the providence that we showed in our actions towards Red-Eyes’ Pack, are animals a primary concern of your divine patron?

Vaysh watches Sir Orlvasky, and when he returns from time spent outside the fort at night she ensures that he is well taken care of. She offers to help him provide to the animals to take some of the load off of his shoulders. Though she is always friendly with him, she is a bit more withdrawn from him than the rest of her companions.

Malthir’s Sudden Leave
Vaysh looks across the fire from where she is seated next to Casimir, Excuse me, Casimir. I’m going to go see if he is alright. Vaysh dashes off after Malthir, but makes time to flash a quick harsh look to Karina through the flames.

Celestial Tongue:
Bright light, gleaming beacon far from home,
Guide me in the dark, wherever I may roam.

With those words uttered, her luminous companion appears refreshed next to her, leading her through the tenebrous night. Vaysh follows Malthir out of the protective walls and hopes that he will slow for her. When she catches up to him she smiles, Good sir knight? You left and seemed troubled, mayhaps you would like to be alone for you have come this far to seek solitude. However, I thought that while you might not seek a friend, that is what you would need.
Fenna & Malthir:
Vaysh looks at Malthir and nods, I will help to look out for her. Mayhaps it will be best for us to locate Kressle soon so that Karina can have her business done in these lands and she can return to Rostland soon. I know that she spoke of having a job to the north, but I imagine that she will have it no longer when she returns. She is our responsibility now, as we have taken her in thus far. I will see if we can make her feel more at home among us, though I have tried already to make her feel part of us.

Indeed, I would welcome a walk beyond these walls for a while. I think that it would be excellent for us to see how Noleski is doing. I keep his thought near my heart always, and he is in my prayers at night to the Lady of Valor.

Vaysh:
Good sir night? he grins at her I told you it is just Malthir, how can you be my firends and companion if I keep you at arms length. I left because I can not be what Karina wants, a crutch to help her through tough times. I hope that I can offer her our faith, if she is sincere in her desire to learn it, to stand on her own two feat and figure out what she really wants from her life. As much as I want to help find her sister, she is of secondary importance to what we do to help these people I am afraid. I think we will find her if Iomedae wishes it. I try to do the right thing, but sometimes I don't know what that is. he turns and faces Vaysh, that strange look coming into his eyes when he sometimes looks at her...he looks like he wants to say more, but the look then passes and he turns away from her, Enough about me, how are you holding up? We still have no word of your father yet, was Red-Eyes able to tell you anything? We will start moving father south soon and we will find him.

Ok, cue "Eye of the Tiger"...

During the week of training, Casimir seems to be everywhere. Before daybreak, he slips on his weapons and armor and goes exploring in the area around the post. He jumps streams and climbs fallen trees, practices moving undetected and observes the plants and wildlife.

After returning for breakfast, he spends hours with Fenna and Vaysh, observing them practice their magic. Taking a cue from the way Vaysh calls the magic from within her, he strains to bring out his own magical potential. When he finally manages to make tiny balls of color float in the air around Vaysh golden hair, his whoops of joy can be heard throughout the tradepost.

Once the dam has been breached, his grasp of magic grows rapidly. Inspired by Fenna's healing touch, he calls forth curative magic of his own. And he can't help but smile when he masters his uncle's old trick of grease. When the week is out, he can cast half a dozen spells without effort. He also spends time examining the ioun stone and other items of magic he can find around the trade post.

Once the magic practice is done, Casimir joins the other warriors at practice. But his efforts seem to purely to maintain his skills, not to hone them further. Instead, he seems intent to learn more about how Kesten inspires his men and how to find new ways to weaken the resolve of his opponents through intimidation and threats.

After sparring, he talks to any of the visiting frontiermen who will listen. He hears their stories of the area, and asks them to show him the workings of traps.

Every night, he entertains the crowd with a dozen stories, both of the recent adventures of the Guardians, older stories of the Stolen Lands picked up from the hunters and the tales and legends his uncle told him growing up.

Female Human, Rostlander Celestial Sorcerer 2

Malthir
Vaysh smiles devilishly, Oh you did, but you also insisted that you were Good Sir Knight. I only wish to properly address someone of your lofty station, she chides him. Listening to his talk turn to Karina, she grows a bit more serious.

I hope that a joking endearment may help him, though I know it is a serious reason that we are here.

As Malthir speaks of Karina, Vaysh nods. Vaysh prepares a reply for Malthir, but seeing him turn towards her with that familiar look in his eye her voice catches in her throat. She looks on Malthir expectantly, longing to know what it is that he sees when he looks at her in times like these.

Mayhaps he will… her thoughts derail as he begins to turn away. Vaysh’s hand quickly launches to catch Malthir by the wrist, but once in place she seems caught off guard and uncertain what to do. She smiles nervously at Malthir, hoping that he may yet confess why he looks at her in such a way.

After the moment passes, Vaysh responds to his thoughts, I find myself torn on the subject of Karina’s sister. I hope for Karina that we are able to find her and that Kressle will provide what she seeks. However, if Karina finds her sister while in our company that would mean she has not left these lands. Vaysh’s eyes cloud a bit as she continues, her normal bright gaze is dark, I find myself unwilling to forgive the danger that she poses to us, for what she has done. I know that I should find forgiveness in my heart, but thus far I have not.

She looks to her companion for some sign of understanding, then continues, I am willing to provide absolution to Kressle in action for the sake of her sister, but I know not if my soul will let go of the threats that she has made against us. Her mood lightens as she finishes her train of thought, I am not used to holding such dark thoughts. I wish to be rid of them; I do not understand how though, she admits.

When asked of herself, Vaysh blushes a bit, His pack is dependent on scent, little that I could say would have described my father to them. What I wished to speak with him about had nothing to do with my father, but was a personal offer of assistance to him. His capacity for our language is astounding, I hope to foster it. I did not wish to infer that there was weakness in his lack of skill with our tongue, and so I did not wish for there to be witnesses for him to need to save face in front of. I know not how a wolves mind works, or if he is a wolf, but I have known many men that do not care for anyone to point out a short coming of theirs.

Vaysh quiets for a moment, and tugs on the overlarge cloak for comfort. She sinks down to sit on the ground and looks up at Malthir, I hope that you are right, I hope that we find him...soon.

Casimir
Vaysh looks at him as he comes in on the third morning spent at Oleg’s. She smiles while she brings him his breakfast, something that she has been waiting on doing since she learned his schedule. You are a flurry of energy, Casimir. My grandmother would say that the Prince of Darkness had been chasing you the way that you run yourself around these past days, Vaysh looks off in the distance and thinks of her grandmother for a moment. She bows her head and utters a quick prayer to Iomedae.

What of your family Casimir? I know you as a student of the blade and a companion, but you make little mention of your past outside of these things.

She sits at the benches with him, watching him eat. It is better, yes? I’m going to be cooking dinner at the end of the week to see how much I have improved. Missus Leveton will let me feed everyone if I can get it right, she looks hopeful while speaking of this.

Remember, Vaysh's hair is red. The pic has blond, but seemed to be the best pic in the gallery they have for avatar icons.

This is your test Vaysh, as mine was when I was sent away from my family. The Inheritor tests you so you will be strong, and I believe you will pass. he puts his hands on Vaysh's shoulders and effortessly lifts her back to the standing position, together, we will do it.
