Saphina's blow bounces off the Red Grung's hide.

The Grung next to Nanbu leaps over to Sashah and tries to attack the wizard, but somehow can't bring itself to.

Hoping that Nanbu’s strike was a good distraction, Saphina doubles her efforts to pierce her sword into the creature.

Saphina takes the opportunity to stab the Grung. Her rapier pierces through the creature's hide, and through its heart. It twitches briefly before sliding down dead.

Sashah steps away from the altar.

The Grung lashes out at the wizard but the blow is inept. The grung lets out a questioning croak.

Sashah steps towards Rakdon and wakes him up.

Adrian's blow misses the Grung. It leaps up to dodge his swing.

I'm awake Rakdon stands up and flicks the centipede off of him that he feels. He will then Magic missile Grung number 3, as he will use his other level 1 spell slot before he falls asleep again dmg: 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (2, 3, 3) + 3 = 11


Yeap you should have gotten an AoO. Missed that but moot point now.
Rakdon's magic missiles strike the Grung, sending frog blood splattering all over the clearing.

Only Grung 2 is up now.

Nanbu's head snaps to the side as he watches the frog-like creature jump at his friend, only to see it get splattered across the clearing!

His eyes fall upon the one grung that stands alone in the field... the thorny whips begin to emerge from his forearm...


With just one Grung it's mopup phase. Skyreaver can take two turns if he wishes.

The Grung, alarmed, tries to stab Adrian. The poisoned blade sinks pass a gap in the Noble's armour.

Nanbu wrenches the Grung towards him. It lets out a gurgle as it flies through the air. Unfortunately, the move throws Adrian off balance as his Greatsword cuts air once again and Rakdon, still trying to gather himself from his sleep, can only see his firebolt dissipate into the air.

Sashah chuckles as he stands next to Rakdon. He then sets down his pack and begins rooting through it, pulling out the amulet and an expensive looking pearl.

Moving up next to the wrapped up grung and Nanbu, Saph tries to permanently incapacitate the final grung.

Skyreaver unleashes a barrage of blows on the Grung.

The Grung feels the impact of the second attack and is bones crack.

Just the sleeping Grung left but combat essentially over. What do you want to do with him?

Rakdon will tie him up and leave him for questioning for the group. Whether or not we release him or kill him when we are done questioning depends upon how much of a threat he would be upon being released.

Nanbu looks around at his battered teammates, Perhaps a rest? Nanbu could use a breath.

Nanbu looks at Rakdon, Nanbu is sorry for the sleeping, he was not himself. That amulet, looking at Sashah, It is like the one from the temple, it is evil. It corrupted Nanbu's mind.


While tying the sleeping grung up, some coin drops out of his... skin. The party searches the other grungs and find 20 gp. The red one has a jade ring worth 20 gp, and a scroll case containing a letter written in grung.

It's written in grung and hard to decipher.

"CROAKKKK" is the Grung's reply.

Sashah examines the piece of amulet and thinks it is similar in design to the one they found in the ziggurat. He thinks that they are in fact, connected, and that there are at least two other broken pieces to be found.

Sashah sets down the pearl, grabs his holy symbol, and says a quick prayer.

Comprehend languages


Sashah can understand what the Grung is saying, but can't talk to it.

"UNHAND ME YOU SMOOTHSKIN CRETINS!" the Grung is saying.

Sashah moves his hand over the text, and it says "THIZ IS GIFT OF THE MOTHER PATRON FOR THE PRINCE!" It's not very enlightening...

Sashah looks from the Gung to the paper a few times with accentuation and then holds up the paper "Who is prince?"


The Grung looks at the wizard, bewildered.
You can understand it, but can't talk back to it.

It doesn't look like it knows much of anything.

With the amulet removed, there seems to be a release of tension from the surroundings. You believe you've cured the jungle's sickness, for now.

Nanbu says, Nanbu will lead you back to Screaming Wind. Perhaps she can tell us where to find Wizard-friend's library.


Sashah finds out little from the amulet. Its aura seems to be beckoning towards the other peace. Like the former, it wants to be reformed and is tied to dreams, but he is unable to discern if it is the cause of the death curse.

The grung hops away, thankful that its life has been spared. Falling asleep on the job apparently does have its perks....

The party heads back, avoiding the dangers they encountered earlier, though the insects are still nasty.

They find Screaming Wind back at Malar's Throat. "Thank you. Ashen Rock has returned with two other members of the investigative party. The intrusive growth has already begun to die out. I believe the pterafolk were as much victims of the curse as we are," she says.

So how many pieces do we think this amulet is in? If it’s the cause of the death curse shouldn’t we try to find the other pieces? Maybe WE can be the heroes to dispel the curse! Wouldn’t that be great guys?

"Hero is a title which causes some to seek their deaths." is all Skyreaver says on the matter.

Before anyone can ask her what she means by that, Skyreaver cocks her head as if hearing a distant sound and says "I must go. I am needed. I wish you luck finding the cause of the troubles with the spirits."

With that, she begins walking forward and fades from view as she does, until she can no longer be seen.

Perhaps, but Nanbu believes that true hero is one that does not believe that she does not deserve such titles... the Chultan smirks, Young ones do not learn this until they have experienced much. Nanbu thinks that the little one can do great things, though.

Sashah carefully kneels in front of Saphina and gently places a hand on her shoulder. "Young one, be careful vith desire for fame," Sashah says softly. "Often zose who do end getting ahead of zeir own importance. Is lives saving not enough?"


Screaming Wind and Ashen Rock bow to the group. "We thank you for your aid. On the outskirts we are ignored by the Merchant Princes. You shall be remembered. Also, here's a fish. A little gift from us," Screaming Wind takes out a jug with a fish in it and gives it to Nanbu.

The party heads back to Port Nyazeru and rest, once again, at the Thundering Lizard.

So Lords Alliance or Zhentarim next?

It does not appear that Screaming Wind knows of your library. Let us see if we can find someone else that might know.
