Ahhh! What the Hell are these things! Kill the one with the one blue eye! Gary takes a guarded step forward and draws his laser pistol, the schnapps will have to wait.
Exemplar's mental bolt rocks the gribbly horror for a moment, but its mind seems to give way suddenly and it pushes past the pain acting purely on alien instinct.
The already weak gravity seems to lose its hold entirely on these creatures as they float at strangely curving angles to surround Quig again.
They batter their tentacles through his guard, an awful suction fastening them to his body before some strange piercing appendage emerges from them to burrow into the hapless ysoki.
Blessedly, he collapses into unconsciousness.

Naboh's fussing clearly has sorted out whatever was wrong with his rifle's sights, because his shot hits center mass! Once more, some of the energy seems to reflect off into an oddly-angled pattern, but the stench of burning fish oil fills the cavern nonetheless.
Quig also joins his ysoki buddy's success by plugging the mind-blasted horror with a carefully placed shot from his needler.

Azara feels the power of the stars build to a crescendo inside him, but knows if he releases it, he'll hurt his fellow Starfinders as much as the creatures facing them.
He steps away from most of his teammates, but stays next to the beast assaulting them, taking another swing at it.
Working like a well-oiled machine, Quig and Azara strike the fiend in tandem til it shrivels up on the floor. The remaining horror continues to advance on Gary, smashing him back against the towering statue as the bodiless voice continues to chant in triumph.

The bodiless voice lets out a wordless shriek, and there's a **pop** from down the stairs, followed by the sudden smell of unwashed bodies.

Azara is more than a little surprised when the last visible enemy falls and he does not feel his connection to the cycle of the stars fade away. Normally, he can only maintain it when he is in a life or death situation.

As Gary and Naboh try to get Exemplar back to his feet, sudden splashes from the lake at the cave's entrance announce new dangers.
Chitinous, six-legged creatures with large mouths full of sharp teeth advance into their profane temple to stand near their matching statues. Rings of glowing, unblinking eyes cover the upper and lower sides of the creatures' bodies, looking in every direction at once as they raise gently glowing weapons to the ready!
