My posting will be spotty between now and the 15th while I am moving. Packing up the truck today, and should be in Utah and able to post again consistently (hopefully) around then.
Please bot me as needed. I might be able to post in the interim, but just not sure when, and can't guarantee it. Sorry.

I'm back.
Thanks for the update, Snowheart. Sorry things are busier for you.
I really hope we can keep this going, even at a slower pace. I've had a lot of fun with the story and character development, and would love to see it continue regardless of the pace.
You've been an AMAZING GM!
Zamanda
I'm back too. Still have to unpack, but hopefully things should be back to normal by tomorrow.
Bashiel Eland
Welcome back Zamanda and Ilsa!
@Snow: I realize I forgot to mention is discussion last time you posted, but thanks for giving an update for everyone on your status! I think we can all understand when life gets busy. And its always better to know what's going on than to just have a GM ghost for a while.
GM Snowheart
All, I'm very sorry. We had to say goodbye to our dog last Wednesday. We've had him longer than we've been married and in many ways he was our first child. It hit me really hard. That said, short of a bus hitting one of us, I have trouble seeing how much more could fall on me at this point so posting should be back to normal now.
Varor
It's about 3:50 a.m. where I live and my cat just got hit in a car and is dying in my mothers flowers in front of her house.
GM Snowheart
Oh man. I’m so sorry. That’s terrible. At least your mom is there, right?
Bashiel Eland
Just updated the Loot Log (I was totally slipping for a while there since we were moving along so slow! Oops!)
We have some items that I think we haven't appraised yet, and we have a few items that need spellcraft checks to ID. I figure its best we do that before turning in so we can distribute any new cash and make our purchases.
Could any spellcrafters give them a go?
Zamanda
Spellcraft Wand: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
Spellcraft Shortspear: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Spellcraft Cloak: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Looks like failure all around for me. Pel?

Quick question:
Can I buy a silver sap? I know you can't apply alchemical silver to non-metal weapons, but saps have a metal "load," and sometimes rivets, etc.
If not, I'll grab something like a silver morningstar. I probably could use a lethal backup, anyway.
Pellius Alazario
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (1) + 13 = 14
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (3) + 13 = 16 (ditto on the order)
The dice roller seems to hate us both today, Zamanda.
I suppose we could try again first thing tomorrow morning.
As for the wererats, since GM Snow was gracious enough to let us know that we know pretty much everything about them from our knowledge roll, I also know that wererats do unfortunately have the scent ability. It's only up to 30 ft, so I guess we could still get up relatively close before they detect us. Still... it might not be worth it at this point. I assume we would want to split the cost if we do decide to buy a couple scrolls.
Bashiel Eland
Ouch on those spellcrafts :< Hopefully Ilsa's are good enough for the first and third (and the mithril shortspear might turn out to not be magical).
With scent, it does kinda seem like spending a bunch on invis scrolls will be a waste. I'd say we might be better off going in and using the amazing bluff skills half the party has to get in to Girrigz.
GM Snowheart
The wand is a wand of cure moderate wounds with 18 charges. The cloak is a +2 cloak of resistance. A tailor may be able to remove the symbol without damaging the cloak. the symbol could also be torn off, but then it would function as only a +1 cloak.
And, +1 mithril shortspear.
Bashiel Eland
You're free to grab it Kalem. I'll take your +1 cloak if you want to hand it down the chain :>
Zamanda
That's fine.
Bashiel Eland
OK, Bashiel picked up a alchemical silver morningstar as well (non-masterwork though. He's too poor for anything else :>)
Are we selling anything on the Loot log, or holding on to it for now?
Bashiel Eland
None of the casters want to pick up scrolls of Identify and Command Undead? Also, I'm surprised that no one wants the mundane mithril dagger.
The wand of daze monster makes sense to sell, as its very valuable but simultaneously going to be useless against anything significant soon enough (Creatures with more than 7 HD will be showing up within this book, I'm sure).
Who is holding onto the CMW wand? I think Varor has the CLW one, so maybe we should split them up in case he goes down. Maybe Zamanda? Not sure who else has the spell on their list.
Are we giving the illuminated tome to the sarenites to destroy? I'm not sure if that happened "on camera".
Pellius Alazario
Pel will take the scroll of Identify. I don't think he would want the Command Undead scroll. If no one else wants it, he'll take the mithril dagger as well, I suppose, since it will also count as silver for the upcoming encounter(s).
Also, I'm fine with going in non-steathy, we'll just need to accept the likelihood that we'll have to fight and possibly kill others of Eries's kind besides Girrigz.
Zamanda
Flying to Vancouver in the morning to help my brother. Not sure if I will have a chance to post from there or not, so might be essentially offline until the 4th. Apologies for the late notice. Please bot me as needed.
Bashiel Eland
I'm going to assume folks are OK with the loot distribution as is, so I'll run the calculation on how much gold we all pick up tomorrow morning. (Ready for some sleep right now :>)
Otherwise, I think we're ready to proceed non-stealthily Snow!
Bashiel Eland
OK, Loot Selling Time!
After distributing and selling items, the individual gold totals are adjusted as follows:
Pellius Alazario
Thank you for doing all the calculations, Bashiel! I know from one of my other campaigns that it can be a lot more involved and complicated than it may seem.
If we have time, Pel will want to swing by a magic shop before heading underground tomorrow. He’ll want to pick up a Headband of Vast Intelligence (+2).
Varor
I'm just going to save my money for now, I can't think of anything I particularly want or need to buy. Maybe I'll get a bag of holding later so I can stop keeping all of my cash in a trunk in my room that consists of a bed, closet, and trunk.
... Or maybe I'll just buy a house or something.
Kalem Darkborn
Wisdom +2 Headband would be useful
Then maybe guided Enchantment on scimitar?

Though a house does sound great. It’s on my to-buy list as well. :)
GM Snowheart
Cool. Sounds like yall are in good shape. I'll have an update up today as soon as I'm able.

Thanks for handling the loot distribution, Bash. I wish you could be part of all my games. :)
I ended up buying a MW silver morningstar, then enchanting my sap to +1. I have 151 gp left.
GM Snowheart
Yup; had an emergency project roll in Thursday night. I take it Kalem and Varor are going to delay or go total defense?
Kalem Darkborn
Gotcha. Got a bit worried, glad that you're alright, if busy.
---
Yup! Going to delay, and if it becomes impossible to keep delaying, total defense.
Would roll an aid check, but I'm not a fan of having everyone talking at once. Even if it does mean higher dice rolls.
Kalem Darkborn
“Varor listens, and doesn't believe that whoever just spoke—likely the ringleader—has any desire to truly give the chance to talk things out any real consideration. Still he must try. "I'll go in, the rest of you stay back here in case things go bad." Varor says before turning towards the voices and yells, "All right, we're sending one of ours in."
Wait...Varor thinks that this is a trap, and that diplomacy won’t work. And he wants to go in alone? With AC12 and 34HP? Is this character suicide?
Ilsa Dreambind

I'm not generally a fan of one character going off alone (aside from maybe a stealthy scout), and not just because he/she might get killed.
It means that we all have to wait while Varor has discussions alone (could be just a day of posting on the boards, but maybe more). Further, he's not our best diplomat stat-wise...
I guess I'm not sure why we'd try this...
Kalem Darkborn
Varor...just to be on the same page.
(1) Do you acknowledge that there is a very real possibility your character will die?
(2) Do you, in fact, want him to die?
(3) If he does die, do you have any plans for making a different character?
#1 is important to know, because I’d hate to see hurt feelings or arguing if diplomacy fails and your Cleric gets torn to shreds by lycanthropes before the party can get there. These APs usually encourage some combat. Purely diplomatic victories are rare. I assumed, ooc, that via diplomacy we could get the majority of wererats to be peaceful, after we fight the ring leader and his core supporters.
#2 is also important. You said that you didn’t like Varor’s build or party role. You were given an opportunity to rebuild and didn’t take it. You also had the chance to buy him some armor, and didn’t take it. Now you have put him in a near-suicidal situation, by your own admission. This looks like character suicide to me. If that is what is wanted, we can save a lot of time playing the scene out with that in mind. It can still be RP’d, but it’ll be better if the GM (and us) know what is going on.
#3 if you want to have a new character, please discuss so now. It’ll make integrating him or her into the party much easier.
GM Snowheart
I think Kalem's assessment is about right, and they're good questions.
Varor
Yes I'm aware he could die.
No of course I don't want him to die.
Yes I do have some ideas if I do actually die.
I've been playing role playing games for a couple of years now, and Varor is the third character that I have made that survived to level four. I'm more than experienced with creating new characters to take over a position left behind by an old one.
But of course I don't want him to die this living streak is one I want to keep going.
And I do like his role. But in this party, where most can heal themselves, he's not nearly as useful. So if I can survive to level five he's going to start gaining levels in Rogue so he can start being more useful.
This is my long-winded way of saying that I'm willing to accept whatever happens. I'm not going to start throwing a tantrum like what happened with Gideon.
