Seeing Headsman take a hit, Machaera merely nods in acknowledgement at the Black Merlin’s shout over his pistol’s report, her own hand already moving to her spell component pouch and her lips running over the incantation she’ll need to recite.

Spell failure, hoping to roll high (beat 20%): 1d100 ⇒ 88 Phew! Casting snapdragon fireworks at the bipedal wolf who just hit Headsman, if the critter's still standing, or else the one in back.

Despite the hindrance of her armour, she easily extracts, juggles, and launches a twist of paper with a clear-voiced word that sets the bundle on fire, revealing a tiny dragon-shaped flame that dodges between the doctor and Headsman to detonate in the face of the wolf-creature standing beyond. Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3 And a DC 16 Reflex save for half and to avoid being dazzled for one round.

“Leave him alone,” she warns grimly, clenching her now empty hand midair into a fist, hoping she sounds more confident than she feels.

"You want to dance, puppy? Because I can Dance!" Io grunts with the last word, steeling herself as she positions her knuckles to tear through flesh. This was a move she had learned long ago, watching devils fight. So, so long ago...

The bipedal wolf simply bears a toothy small as Headsman's axe cleaves across its chest. Potentially being set on fire, however, along with getting hit by an axe, gives him a slight paws (pause)

Reflex save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

The bipedal wolf doesn't like the massive firework display and is dazzled, losing his action. The female wolf in the back feels why firearms won over slings and takes the ball in the leg, but stands up and snarls, "We'll see how you like my bullet bird-boy!".

Io's fist goes in to break the wolf's snout, but it's hard as stone and her fist bounces off it.

Machaera shakes her head. “Not yet – that’s more of an abjurer’s business. It looks like we’ll have to do things more crudely.”

Seeing Headsman’s mighty swing open up some space for a moment, Machaera conjures up a ball of acid in an instant and hurls it at the wolf (on four legs) between Io and the boy. acid splash, ranged touch: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 - 4 = 14 Damage, if hits: 1d3 ⇒ 2

Hopefully, if that's enough to bring the wolf down, that will give Io a clear charge lane. :) Also, it doesn't look like there are any enemy spellcasters about, at least, so Machaera will use her move action to stow her thunderstone again for now, and free up all her hands.

Summary of current turn results

All of Headsman's fury seems to congeal in to one huge hammer blow, as his axe slashes down and cleaves the black wolf in twain. Machaera' acid charge slams into the other wolf, burning off some fur, but it remains alive. Io breaks out into a cluster of fists, kicks, and jerky editing, crushing ribs and causing internal hemorrhaging, but the wolf with two legs stands straight. However, as it goes to move, blood gouts out of its mouth and eyes, as the internal damage is too much.

Map updated. Bipedal Wolf 2 and Quad Wolf 1 are down.

We'll make this work a bit easier since I would rather not kill party members in the first encounter, and being a vitalist is different from a lot of stock healing classes. Activating DM fluff. Through a miraculous intercession by the powers of psionic healing, 3 hp goes to both Io and the other 3 to Headsman. Sparkly choral singing accompanies Yanis's channeling, something about taking pain medication to clear up unsightly tartar build up.
