The Black Merlin |

The Merlin does his best to remain out of sight while watching the building presumed to house Gaerdren Lamm.

Io strains her eyes, looking for a skylight or back entrance that they might be able to sneak into while Yanis distracts the guards.

Yanis Boulin |

Yanis will lead his Donkey and cart up to the old Fishery, stopping a few blocks away.
"Do we want to proceed with me going to the front door and talking with them?'

stormcrow27 |

Ok. Here is the basic layout of what you find out of the old fishery.
It is a one story building that is perched on a steep embankment, with most of the fishery extended out into the Jeggare River, with what appears to be a lower area The embankment slips thirteen feet into the river below, where the lower floor lies. Connected to the fishery is an ancient sailing ship that has two decks. The upper deck is connected by a rickety boardwalk that goes around the right hand side of the fishery that slopes downward as it moves away from the fishery. There appears to be a door on the left side of the boardwalk that goes into the first floor of the fishery. On the left side of the fishery, there is a large loading dock. A pair of double doors allow access to the interior from the dock's loading ramp, and an rickety staircase allows access to another door three feet over the river, providing a second entrance. All external windows are boarded up, and the doors are all locked. There are no external guards from what you can observe. The lower floor, which sits partially on the river and the shore, has a very narrow space under the fishery with about 3 feet of clearance between it and the river. The underpier does lead out to the lower deck of the the ship, but you would be hard pressed to clear it unless you shrunk yourselves...

Machaera Selanna |

Yanis will lead his Donkey and cart up to the old Fishery, stopping a few blocks away.
"Do we want to proceed with me going to the front door and talking with them?'
“Be my guest,” Machaera offers. “We’ll stay a few paces behind, trying to blend in, but give us a shout if anything goes wrong.”
So saying, she pulls an odd-looking rock from one of the many pockets of her pack, and proceeds to pass it carefully from hand to hand, occasionally tossing it lightly, but carefully, into the air. She loosens up her posture and her gait, and though at a closer look her fine gear marks her as an outsider to the neighbourhood, to a casual glance she looks like a jaded adventurer who’s had perhaps a drop too much to drink – or maybe something stronger.
Still, in the guise of someone whose evening has left her gaze just ever so slightly gazed, Machaera is able to casually examine the fishery from her position several yards behind the doctor. She hopes the others have more luck, because at a quick glance, the most serviceable approach seems to be the direct one.

The Black Merlin |

The Merlin waits until Yanis has approached the front door and he drops to the ground and attempts to approach the boardwalk to get a better look.

What time is it right now? Is it the morning, when we're attacking, or is still our nighttime reconnaissance?

Yanis Boulin |

Yanis will approach the upper door to the fishery, knocking loudly. Once someone approaches.
"Good day ser, I would like to speak with Lamm again regarding his current practice of drugging the pregnant women. The babes being born are addicted as well and they are not surviving long after birth. I need to know what drugs he is using."
Yanis will give his best smile.
"I will not be reporting this to the authorities because we both know the last time I did they didn't do anything thing anyway."

Also, is Machaera with Yanis at the door?

Machaera Selanna |

Right, I'm just far enough away that I can still see what's going on with low-light vision, hear over any street noise if Yanis calls out, and get close enough to help out with a spell or something if necessary. I guess maybe 30' back or so, depending on prevailing conditions?

Corvus Cator |

Is it possible to cover the entrance from a roof across the street?

Corvus Cator |

The Albatross will cover Yanis with his short bow from the roof across the front entrance. 30' eh? Any tarps to do the old knife through the cloth trick for some good old fashion swashbuckling stunts?

The Black Merlin |

The Black Merlin focuses intently on the gangplanks ahead of him after hearing the banging from around front.

stormcrow27 |

I'll get the map packs spun up this week, since playing virtually without them is more of an issue. No tarps sadly, as the fishery is a one story building with half of it supported by piers as it sits over the river, and it's all wood. This part of town is too poor for tarps. Though you can always do a called shot to staple someone's clothing to a wall or doorframe/etc in lieu of the feat or class feature, or a trick combat maneuver etc.
Also as an FYI, if you want to try something the rules may or may not have defined, just suggest it and I'll see what I can do. I'm not a straight jacket RAW type. I use Pathfinder as my fantasy RPG of choice because of the large amount of options and the modular nature of the d20 system, but I'm not bound to the rules as super canon.
Yanis knocks more loudly, and the barking and growling now launches into a guttural form of Common, as if spoken by a wolf that has been guzzling whisky for 40 years, "We're closed for business! Scram or feel the teeth of Lamm's Wolves." The front door still does not open.

"Headsman" |

Slouched against a wall, one hand on the handle of his axe, Headsman says nothing, but a faint sound of teeth grinding can be heard.
"This is stupid," he finally mutters.

The Black Merlin |

Any traffic I can see on the back gangways from up close?
After Reconnoitering the rear gangways The Black Merlin returns to the roofs and rejoins Io.
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9

'What's been going on out front? I've heard lots of knocking but not much else.' The vigilante fills Io in on what he saw from ground level.

Io Dorean |

"Not much. Yanis knocked on the door, but they never opened up. It sounds like alcohol is involved. They may be impaired, and at the very least, they should have splitting headaches if we wake them up early." Io replies in a low voice.

Yanis Boulin |

Yanis will retreat and come back to where Headsman is,
"My plan did not work, I am ready to proceed with the head cracking as you called it I think."

The Black Merlin |

The Merlin considers Io's words for a moment. 'Drunk or hungover we stand to have the advantage over Lamm's men. Shall we rejoin the others and make a plan?'

Io Dorean |

We kind of already are with the others. Io's about ten feet away from the door where Yanis was.
Io continues to talk quietly as she and Merlin rejoin the others.
"Agreed. We may want to revise the plan somewhat, however. It might be opportune to strike just before dawn. Sentries will be groggy, and we can give the sleepers a rude awakening."

"Headsman" |

"So... what now? Should I go ahead and bust a door down? With a crummy building like that, I won't be surprised if half the wall comes down with it." Headsman readies his axe.
"Lamm's in there, and there's six of us. I think we can take him and his folk. Can't be that many of 'em in there."

Corvus Cator |

Ok, I'm going to own that borderline reckless quirk as a reason to push us forward.
Seeing Yanis' apparent failure, the Albatross scales down the side of his perch before tumbling down, landing with his cloak outstretched. He then proceeds to sneak to the double doors of the loading dock, the bird mask craning towards the door to listen in.

Io Dorean |

Io hesitates when the Albatross starts to open the door, then shrugs, "Ah, why not. May as well strike while the iron is hot. Every moment we wait is one moment that Gaedren isn't spending in Hell. Or maybe the Abyss? Abbadon? Hmmm. Never thought about that much before."

"Headsman" |

"I can take care of the door." Headsman shrugs, leaning against the frame as the Albatross works the lock. "... it'll be noisy, though."

Machaera Selanna |

Machaera can understand Headsman’s growled frustration, knowing he has people in there, being tormented who knows how by Lamm’s vileness. Seeing the others glide silently from the fishery, she surmises that they haven’t found any particularly easy alternative route inside, and with the door still shut stubbornly in Yanis’ face, it looks like these fish aren’t biting tonight. Before she can weigh in on how and when to best take the building by storm, though, the Albatross is already trying his own way.
Machaera’s relieved that he’s at least trying a door other than the one the good doctor rattled, and with some subtlety, for the moment. As the group falls in to see if the Albatross can get them in discreetly, she smiles tightly at Headsman’s offer. “It might come to that yet,” she says, “if the doctor just inspired them to keep quiet and do the rounds of the building once more. It looks like Lamm’s got the place locked up quite tightly, though, so if we do get in, we should probably be especially careful to leave a safe way out for the children, and avoid cornering any thugs who might otherwise flee if they see they’re in trouble, so they don’t do anything desperate.”
While the Albatross works, she keeps an ear open for any sign of movement behind the loading doors. Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

'What's been going on out front? I've heard lots of knocking but not much else.' The vigilante fills Io in on what he saw from ground level.
From the river bottom or the loading dock on the first story?

Io Dorean |

Io puts her ear to the door, listening to anything that might be on the other side.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
If she hears nothing, she tries again, this time placing her shield so it rests, concave side on the door, then putting her ear on the shield boss.

Similar concept to a stethoscope. No idea if it will work or not. The shield is metal, though, so it might help.
*Blink* Huh. Well, I was not expecting those rolls, I must say.

The Black Merlin |

The Black Merlin draws his pistol and keeps an eye peeled for anyone approaching. With his free hand he checks his powder horns and ammo pouches to ensure they're easily accessible.

The Black Merlin |

'I can try to blow the door if you want. Or we could try to blow both and only go in one.' The vigilante whispers.

Yanis Boulin |

"What about destroying one and waiting a few moments from them to gather then blowing the other and going in?"
Yanis will check his supplies out as they talk.

"Headsman" |

"Don't waste your gunpowder. I can bust a door like that open without a problem. I like the Doctor's idea. We bust this one down then come in from another angle."
Vandal trait, don't fail me now.
What kind of doors does the fishery have? Do they look sturdy?

Corvus Cator |

While the group discusses their options, the Albatross will continue to work on the door.
