I had a dunk bath! Why yes, Fernleaf, I do feel quite refreshed, like a spring rain or the morning dew!
I'm having second thoughts, though. I would feel much safer if we dealt with the bats before we open the portcullis. What if we go to deal with them with it open and we have more than just bats to deal with?
Or, we can just throw caution to the wind again!
I suggest we all take a hit from the Wand of Mage Armor. There might be something with a very nasty touch attack in there. What do you think?...Ah, screw it. Let's go!

You call play on this one Buchart, if you want to throw caution to the wind we will go. Fernleaf and the cat up front, me with ranged attack behind them (as I can shoot over top of them and then move out of the way for the tank) Anaba and Buchart behind to engage hand to hand follow up with Cela and Sekkim. This sound OK with everyone?

Buchart cannot help but catch a glimpse of himself in the reflecting pool. Those who gaze into the pool see a horrid, rotting reflection that slowly turns to murder the party. He fights off the urge to stab Sekkim and closes the door as bats start to swarm. He avoids screaming and running for the exit.

You wait 10 min and they settle down no longer swarming. They move away from your light into the room beyond the portcullis. After screaming and light spells you work 40 -45 min you get them to swarm near the door and they get close enough to burn them down.
Out of combat! 7 charges used for both swarms.
Fernleaf investigates from the door the south room and seems unaffected now by the pool as is Buchart.
This chamber has a number of recesses carved into the walls and a fissure in the ceiling. The crypts are empty as in the other room with the zombies. There is bat guano everywhere and now small clusters of bats hang about, but not enough to make the deadly swarms.
I had this prepared and really really wanted to paste it in the last room...
"Buchart presses into the room closing the door to finish off the bat swarm and gets a shot off of the wand of burning hands before they swarm all over him burrowing their tiny teeth in his pale flesh to drink his sweet blood as they flap their leathery wings all about him trying to find a purchase. He is completely covered in bats!
Round 1: BS2 -
Buchart Bat Swarm: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Make a fortitude save Distraction (Ex) Any living creature that takes damage from a bat swarm is nauseated for 1 round; a Fortitude save (DC 11) negates the effect.
Round 2: BS2 -
Buchart blasts away many of the vile creatures but they continue to bite at him and scratch his skin with thier sharp claws.
Buchart Bat Swarm: 1d6 ⇒ 6"

Do you think burnt bats would make a nice starter for our frog leg fry?

Fernleaf and Buchart guide the party past the pool of terrors and into the next room of crypts. Searching thoroughly you find nothing of interest except bat guano. You move through the room and into the next chamber.
The vaulted ceiling of this vast chamber shows significant signs of damage, with numerous cracks along its surface. In the center of the room, a 10-foot-wide bridge crosses a deep chasm. On the other side, a pair of stone statues watch over the end of the bridge in front of a set of grand brass double doors. The statues depict villagers holding shields and spears.
Your spells are all worn off if you want to renew.

Uhhhooooh...Fernleaf 's attempt at disabling the trap go badly and he activates the pressure plate. The two statues slide forward and try to knock him off the bridge. bull rush: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26. Which they do and he goes flying and falls 40' (oww!) fall: 4d6 ⇒ (2, 3, 2, 5) = 12.
The statues moves back in to position and you hear a click as they lock in place.

I crawl into the corner of the pit and cry. I will take the opportunity to search around in the pit, as well (while softly crying in pain).
"I am such a failure. My auntie always said "Don't ever leave the house without... something. I had already left the house so never heard the rest of her wisdom..."
Anybody else left down here from bygone days? Any fresh brains? Rats or other vermin? Tattered clothing? Bones?
*thinking seriously about this Undead Comic gig and the insanity of adventuring. Also, wondering what frog brains taste like. Butter and garlic keep being mentioned...*
