No worries Mathpro, it was worth a shot. We're going to miss you man.
So, ladies and gentlemen, I guess we start formulating our receuitment pitch? Anyone wanting to take lead on it?

Gad’larr Fireblood |

I'd volunteer Vivian as lead due to her positive attitude...but I definitely don't want to force it on her completely.
Since we are electing a new GM by committee...
I say we should all be involved in the GM replacement process as much as possible too.
We can pre-write an intro and the request for a new GM. Once everybody's approved it and any necessary changes are made (by PM) we can post it then.
We can see what offers we get in say three days or so...we then narrow down the list and pick the best choice by group vote.
Is that a good outline for starting?

![]() |

Exactly what I was thinking, you're just way more articulate ;) I can put together a rough draft tomorrow, then PM it for revisions.

![]() |

Got the rough draft PM's out to you all. If you don't redline it much we can get the thread up Friday/Weekend. Otherwise I think Monday is reasonable.
What do you guys want to do RP wise in the game thread while we wait?

Gad’larr Fireblood |

What do you guys want to do RP wise in the game thread while we wait?
We should wait for now since we don't know what is going to happen yet.

![]() |

I think it looks great, thanks for taking the time to prepare that Vivian! I'd be in favor of posting it ASAP.
Just for the heads up, I will be going on a road trip leaving Saturday morning and returning home the following Saturday night. I should still be able to post, but they may be shorter than usual.

![]() |

Thanks everyone! Once I hear from Brezik I'll make the thread and link to it in here so we all can weigh in on whatever questions people might have.

Brezik Arkennslag |

Don't wait on me. Looks good. Keep things moving is my vote.

![]() |

Cool cool, here it is.
Hopefully we get some bites. I have no idea what the odds ever are...

Gad’larr Fireblood |

We have a our first GM bite.
Start checking him/them out at your leisure.
Let's give it most of the weekend I think, unless we see somebody interested that we want to pick at quickly.

![]() |

How does everyone prefer to discuss this?
Coincidentally, I was in a recruitment 'tavern' with GM Architecture a few months ago, his Grunyn character. We RP'd for about a week and had a good time, he was selected for one of the games and I the other. A cool small world that he stumbled onto this.

Qina Coldfire |

We're all adults here and if we keep it civil and not insulting, I don't foresee any problems. I'm also not expecting a ton of volunteers either. Having read through some of his posts, I like what I see. My only concern is he doesn't have much history on these boards, but if taking a chance keeps the group together, I'm game. I would give him my vote, but to be fair, so far there is only one candidate.

![]() |

Right on Qina. I would like to hear what Architecture thinks of our party and the module as well. But, I am in support of going forward with him too.

![]() |

I agree with you both. We can ask some questions, but I do think we should move forward if all goes well. It will be difficult to know how a new DM will fit until we test it in action.

Gad’larr Fireblood |

Well I was hoping for at least 2 or 3 candidates to look at, but if Vivian trusts this guys I'm willing to give him a shot.

![]() |

If everyone is on board I'll invite Architecture to join us in discussion here and we can figure things out.

![]() |

Got another one! I posted on the recruitment that we'd keep it open until Midnight CT today.

Brezik Arkennslag |

okay been looking at both Architectures and Fez's post history. Looks like Architecture has a much greater presence... i.e. is checking and posting more often.
Fez seems to post once a day like clockwork... so we would have to fill some of the space our selves... but Here is why I like Fez for our game....There are many humourous and plain fun posts that he has made as a GM in his "The Blight of Treerazer". I think this one post alone wins me over:
So if you guys want to move the game along Faster with a GM who is more present and able to answer questions faster Architecture is prolly a better choice. But I think Treerazer is a more experienced "storyteller" and will fit the style that we have established in our game better.

![]() |

I appreciate your write-up Brezik. I think we do a good job as a party of filling the slow times with our RP interactions, and that a more story-driven campaign works well for this group. Whatever we decide I will be happy to get back into the game.

Gad’larr Fireblood |

I looked at both Fez and Architecture, and agree with Brezik's estimations. In the end I just really want to continue, so either one I can work with personally. What about the rest of you?

![]() |

In the end I just really want to continue
Pretty much sums it up for me. Let's get some questions together for these two GMs. I can PM them and have them post answers in this discussion. Things I would like to ask are:
1.How long they've been playing/GMing Pathfinder?
2.Experience/comfort level with the module?
3.The previous GM had us generate background info for him to tie into the game, is that something they'd be interested in using as well?
Anything people want to add?

Gad’larr Fireblood |

Have they ever had to quit a game (as a GM or PC)for any reason? How many times?(They can give the reasons or not, just want to know in general)

Qina Coldfire |

I don't have a preference yet. I think both would be good choices. I agree that the proposed questions will hopefully give more food for thought. I also agree that we've done a great job filling the space on our own so I'm not too concerned about pacing. We were at something like 200 posts without even leaving town, which to me is rather impressive. I wish I had more to add.

![]() |

Indeed! One of the PFS games I'm in is finishing up with barely 200 posts..
Sent out the Q's, we should be hearing responses in here sometime today.

GM Fez |

1.) Playing (mostly GMing) since 2011 (I think. The years are starting to blur)
2.)I've read through the module(s)multiple times and preped the encounters once before (was planning on doing this FTF, but that group feel apart)
3.)Give me all your delicious backgrounds and I will find ways to fit them into the mod(s)
4.)I've had 3 PbPs fold, one as a GM,twice as a player. Quit a WotR game (player) that continued adding people from other tables because school work smacked me in the face. One of the players in a 2 person campaign had real life hit and wasn't able to devote the time they wanted to to it (GM), and the last was one of Mathpro's Carrion Crown campaigns, and you all know what happened there.
Let me know if there are any other concerns you have.

Belathorian Twice Born |

I have no strict preference, although I would lean towards architecture, presence is everything. Plus with the amount of RP this group does, any time spent in initiative is going to get very chaotic without a GM keeping us on a tight leash. And that mean posting often. My vote (and that thought is very odd, players should kneel begging before GM's if you ask me!) would go to whoever seems most 'into' our game.

1.How long have you been playing/GMing Pathfinder?
Since 2007. My new college buddy had a downloaded copy of the beta text, and he had built a home brew world to go with it. After about two years of his, we moved into the published APs and Golarion-based customs. Our size varied, but a core group of 4 of us played together until early '15. I've been pretty out before coming here, late last year or early this.
2.Have you ever had to quit a game (as a GM or PC)for any reason? How many times?
Thanks to my circumstance, it was rare that one of the core group would drop. We all knew each others schedules pretty well, and hung out most days of the week. If a game ended, it was usually because the majority had grown bored; this happened a few times, and we'd take a small break, regroup, and run something else. We all loved games, so some of the period was other systems (Dogs in the Vineyard and Amber Diceless once each are those memorable), or classic board/card games.
I put an end to a game I ran once; the party and design was supposed to be diplomatic, and we'd turned into murderhobos, myself as GM included. We just transplanted our characters to a different setting and pretended we'd been there all along. I triedl Roll20 before coming here, and probably was in five failures. People stop showing up. I was one, once; two sessions were nothing but OOC chat about movies and such, and I felt it was a waste of my precious gaming time, and told them so. I never tried to run my own.
3.What is your experience/comfort level with the module?
None. I've read it since applying, but otherwise have never seen it. Masks, which I believe comes next, I've read several times, and admittedly look forward to that book more than this current, if only because I know it better.
4.The previous GM had us generate background info for him to tie into the game, is that something you'd be interested in and capable of using as well?
I hope I can use it well, but it is certainly something that interests me. I'm currently running only a PFS module on the boards, with, humorously enough, Fez and I taking on a series of PFS tables focused on teamwork feats starting in the next few days. I'm very much regretting "table consistency;" the module I' running has limited options at this early stage, and though not allowed, I'd love to let them do more than what is written. With your group, I'd have that opportunity.
Like Fez, let me know if you have anything further. And Fez, best of luck to both of us here!

Gad’larr Fireblood |

Since they know each other I'm almost willing to suggest they Co-GM, but that just sounds like a recipe for disaster too.

![]() |

Since they know each other I'm almost willing to suggest they Co-GM, but that just sounds like a recipe for disaster too.
I agree. If that were the case, I'd rather defer to Fez, and just keep an eye on it and pop in for the occasional break/busy period. Maybe offer a suggestion or two; but when it came down to calls, it would be his decision alone if you would decide to go that route. He knows the mechanics of the module better than I do, and has at least practiced at setting it out.

![]() |

Duel GMs.. Intriguing but reminds me of the times I post and find out someone else has posted a few seconds before me... If they prefer that then we can figure it out but picking one might be cleanest.
I'm leading towards Architecture. I think the larger daily presence will mesh with our frequent posting better. Fez's history with the module is very ideal, so I'll be happy either way in the end.
Excuse me for forcing someone's hand, this is not a final tally, but at the moment the picture seems to be:
2 for Fez (Brezik, Gad)
2 for Architecture (Viv, Belathorian)
2 undecided (Qina, Allister)

Gad’larr Fireblood |

Actually I really could go either way, they both have merits and differences that the other does not have.
That also means Architecture is in the lead, with 2 votes to 1 for Fez.
Does Allister or Qina have a change in view at all?
I think that will clinch it in the end.

![]() |

First off, I'd like to say that both GMs are excellent candidates. My decision was not easy, and was made by the smallest of margins.
I believe GM Fez would be an ideal GM to take over our campaign - my primary reason being that he is familiar with the AP. Having said that, I would be perfectly happy with either.
Thank you both for taking the time to respond to our inquiry, and I hope our paths cross in the future.

Gad’larr Fireblood |

OK,
We are back to a tie...
Well, If someone had to pull my teeth to make me choose:
I would have to pick GM Architecture by a hair. For some reason I just feel more...comfortable with him? Its a feeling more than anything else. But my life has taught me my first gut instinct is usually the most correct.
Sorry about my indecision on all of this, but this was harder than Chinese algebra as far as I'm concerned.

![]() |

Oh the fun of voting with an even number party!

![]() |

Assumming Fez doesn't beat me to the punch here, I'll let him have the privilege. I appreciate the kind words, truly! But it seems more important to most of you to have Fez's familiarity with the module, and honestly I tend to agree. While I'm sure we would have fun, Fez knows what he's doing, and that makes it fun, too, probably even more so.
So congrats Fez! If you want a break, or get busy, you know where to find me!

Gad’larr Fireblood |

Very gracious of you GM Architecture.
Besides, if Fez decides to give us up for whatever reason...
Architecture did say he knows the sequel to the module much better, so maybe they might 'swap out' later if they both feel like it once we complete the Everflame adventure. Not that it is necessary. Just a thought.

![]() |

Before I accept any resignations, it would be fitting if you two rolled for it... highest d20 wins...

![]() |

Congrats GM Fez! Very excited to get up and running again. I assume you will need some time to familiarize yourself with the group and campaign status. We will do our best to answer any questions you might have.
A very warm thank you to GM Architecture, we sincerely appreciate your time and interest.

Belathorian Twice Born |

Welcome GM Fez. Looking forward to working with you in whatever direction you take this in. Lets get this show on the road! looking at where we left it it's almost perfect, we just camped for longer than we expected!
Thank you for your time GM Architecture, I hope we meet on these boards again, I like your style.

Gad’larr Fireblood |

GM Mathpro has to transfer the game to Fez I believe before we can get started, and I'm sure he needs some time to get up to speed.
