I have no problems with adult themes and will try to keep any such encounters PG-13.

I've been working on a background that includes justification for Allister's relationship with Delarra, and will post in my character bio soon. I'm quite happy with how the first couple posts have turned out so far, and think they are well-suited to Allister.

Just a thought to bear in mind on the adult front though, Belatharion is young, 16 odd. I'm not so it's not an issue! But he is so might not be quite as... comfortable. It's an RP point really.

Just realised I haven't decided what spells Bel has memorised, I'll do the first day's in isolation. But in case I forget Bel, Viv and Qina should have a head to head before the next day so we minimise overlaps.

The party seem to be fitting together really nicely, I know this is going to be a fun game, really hoping we can keep it live for the follow up adventures. I really like games with extended 'getting to know you' time, it feels really slow at the time but means that when your off you have a really good 'feel' for the other characters. Very hard to RP any kind of relationship with a character whet you need to double check their name!

This group has so many more posts than my other campaign, and it's been wonderful so far. I have been giggling at just about every post.

@Belathorian - I think this is how all groups should start out, getting to know each other before they embark on a life-altering adventure. It adds so much to the campaign to have these interwoven stories.

I just wanted to thank everyone for being so active in my absence. I am back and will be posting sometime today so we can get things started offically. I started reading through posts last night while I was trying to sleep and couldn't but only managed to get through most of friday's posts. I want to update some of my other games first(things that are quick and won't take an hour of reading to catch up) and then I'll get my post up here. I've been enjoying it immensely. I think it will pick up more once we're out of center stage. Adding in the characters' backgrounds does make it feel more connected, more like we're actually part of the adventure and not just random players playing an adventure.

Okay guys your first combat has arrived so I'm going to type up a post, hopefully not a wall of text, that will help explain how this is going to work. I have created spoilers for everything to help try and limit the wall of text effect. Please read all spoilers below and if you have any questions please post them here so we can discuss or you can PM me.

When in combat:

-I will roll init for you. This will be done in a spoiler at the bottom of my summary post(detailed later). I will label it init rolls or something similar and you should look at the rolls and the init order for the combat so you can better choose your actions.

-You will post your actions for the round, as well as possible second options if your first option is no longer viable when its your turn to act. And roll any necessary rolls for those actions(attack rolls, damage rolls, spell resistance rolls if you have figured out things have spell resistance). These posts do not need to be made in init order, just post when ever you can.

-After everyone has posted actions for the round I will come and summarize everything in a post, resolving actions in initiative order. If saving throws are needed for spells cast on the party or by monsters I'm running they will be in a spoiler in my summary post. You can read this spoiler if you wish. If attacks of opprotunity are needed I will roll them for you to keep things moving swiftly. These rolls will also be in a spoiler in my summary post. The very last spoiler in my summary post will be labled DM EYES ONLY KEEP OUT and SHOULD NOT be read by players. It is where I track all the HP and status effects of the bad guys and if you don't want things spoiled for you DO NOT read that spoiler.

Sample Round Summary:

Round 1 Wrap up
Boran strikes the giant right in the leg and opens up an artery with his swing, coating the warrior in blood. Because of the spay of blood his other two attacks miss. Garrosh you cast your spell. Wren casts her spell and she feels the dragon resist it at first but then the spell takes hold. Skarn you start your judgements and move to engage the giant. Next round you will be able to take a full action against the giant. The dragon, seeing the party materialize will breath fire down on everyone attacking the giant, and the giant itself. Skarn, Boran, and the Giant are unable to move out of the way of the breath weapon and take the full brunt of the flames but thanks to Wren's prot energy spell cast in sandpoint before you left Skarn you are unharmed. The giant and Boran take 34 damage. Nadezdha and Taket both dodge to the side and are only mildly singed by the breath weapon and take 17 damage each. Garrosh and Wren you are still under the effects of protection from energy and take no damage from the breath weapon. Taket you swing your blade through the giant and it drops lifeless to the ground, singed and bleeding. Wren you feel your spell take hold and the dragon is now confused. Nadezdha seeing that the giant is down and the dragon just swooped down at the party you let lose your arrows at the dragon. Three of them lodge deep into the creatures hide.

Very good round guys! You took down a giant in less than one round...very impressive. There are other giants pillaging the town that you guys can move and attack next round. There is one with in 30 feet of you so those interested in mele can start working on a giant. Those of you who want to target the dragon can do so as well.

Do you prefer we try and keep it in character and take the time to do a little story telling ourselves. Or do you prefer we keep it short and clean so that it's easier for you to pick out what happens and leave the embellishing for you to do?

Looks good, Mathpro. I'm excited for some combat.

I have a question as well. You said you would use maps when necessary, but how would you prefer we handle movements (especially if maps are not used for a particular combat or events change the outcome of a battle before our turn)?

For example, I could post: Allister moves to the nearest Giant and makes an attack with his greatsword, assuming that I try to avoid AOOs - Or I could write out a step-by-step guide of me doing so. Which would you prefer?

In regard to Brezik's post in Gameplay that I've thrown into a spoiler here:

armor construction rules:

I already looked into the idea of crafting our own plate armor. Crafting full plate takes DC 19 rolls. If you roll under a 14 then you ruin a sizable amount of your materials and half to repay them. In addition a single roll represents a weeks worth of work. The work is done once all of your rolls per week add up to equal 790. Would take a long time and we would have lots of chances to screw up.
Full plate (Ac 9) 500gp DC 19 checks... total at the end of construction has to equal 790.

If the GM allowed us to piecemeal construct it.... You have three separate construction projects.... Much lower DC's but takes allot longer to build.

Breastplate (AC 6) 67gp Dc 16 checks... where the total at the end of construction has to equal 125.

Arm guards (+1 AC) 125gp Dc 11 checks... where the total at the end of construction has to equal 340.

Leg guards (+1 AC) 309gp Dc 11 checks... where the total at the end of construction has to equal 840.

Sounds like a hard and awesome effort personally. I think one of the construction projects needs to be worth +2 AC to end with a total of +9 though. Thanks for the research Brezik!

When wearing piecemeal armor you gain the last +1 when you wear the full set. Piecemeal armor is a variant rule from ultimate combat... Which is only legal if the GM allows it.

I thought possibly because of the armor craftiness of our characters he might allow it for construction purposes... Although I'm not sure this game was ever intended to go past this one module.

I'm sorry to hear about the hard times Mathpro, I hope you are able to figure everything out. No worries, we all understand how things can pop on in life.

This group is probably the best I've been in for PbP. I absolutely love the heavy RP, rich characters, and feel to the group. In an effort of not wanting it to end, would we have your blessing Mathpro to try to keep the game alive? If it comes to it, I'm comfortable killing off Vivian and moving to GM.

EDIT: This is also a question for the other 5 players, would you be interested in trying to keep this alive if we are given the blessing? Or try to do a spin off of something else if we don't?

Best of luck, Mathpro. No worries, we all have priorities.

I would like to try and continue on with the same campaign and characters if possible (with the exception of one who would transition to GM). I get a kick out of this campaign, and laugh pretty much every day at something that happens. Let's not give up on it yet!

I am in favor of having Vivian transition to GM. That would obviously mean the character would have to "go away" in some way or another. We could also try and search for a replacement GM. If Vivian (or one of our other players) does become GM, we would have to either fill the 6th spot with a new character or just push on with 5.

I'd like to hear everyone's thoughts on the issue.

As for the game I have really been enjoying the dynamics of the group and would hate to lose any of the characters. My personal preference would be to see if we could recruit a new GM. Don't really care what we play.. I think our dynamics would carry over to pretty much anything.

Pending Gad not wanting to continue, recruiting a new GM would be the best initial step. Vivian has a lot of life left in her!

I would like to continue running da'flame but I think we should open it up to looking for a GM to run a wider range of games to better our odds. I don't have any experience with this, should we make an open call in the recruitment thread and hopefully lure a few people in to suggest games they want to run?

Good news though, we have plenty of stock RP footage to use!

I'd like to list in recruitment that we prefer to continue with existing Everflame campaign, but would be open to transitioning as a group to a different one. Hopefully since we're not that far in we could find someone who would be willing to pick up the torch.

As far as a new GM...OK. Since Mathpro doesn't mind.

Let's be careful however. There are some really out-of-box GMs that tend to go everywhere at once, and this doesn't seem like a Out-of -box kinda group.

Would GM Mathpro have some friendly GMs he might recommend we approach by PM first?

That would be a better choice in my opinion.
