Female Sylph Wizard 2

Ameiko said she's taking a week to get her affairs around the town in order before leaving, I believe

Liberty's Edge

Kingmaker Exploration Map

Yes, she needs some time to leave everything in order for her absence... But she is not selling, she plans to return eventually...

Help his family with the caravan preparations, of course...
Posting about that, give me some time...

Liberty's Edge

Kingmaker Exploration Map

Ameiko smiles and continues.
"Before Sandru’s caravan leaves Sandpoint, though, a few last-minute bits of preparation are required. Provisions and supplies must be purchased, and additional travelers such as guards, drivers, cooks, wainwrights, and the like need to be hired. You can certainly fill some of these roles, as can we, but if the caravan is to be successful, numerous improvements to the three wagons Sandru already owns should be addressed. I have 2,000 gp in financing to purchase supplies, new wagons, and enhancements to wagons, and to pay for additional traveler wages. Please help us to prepare for departure. I trust in you."
She sighs.
"Also consider Shalelu Androsana will travel with us. Maybe she can scout for us. I hope that doesn't makes or small companion too uncomfortable..."

Sybil nods, business discussion, this is her natural environment. Her mind races with ideas to make the trip as profitable as possible as well as reviewing the people that she knows further north.

"Of course we will help. I have been on caravans before and know how to make them profitable. As for organization, it will be my pleasure to help Sandru. The most complicated with most assuredly be to organize wagons for the goblins... I think we might need fireretardant materials... I guess I could try to find some alchemical concoctions that would do the trick."

The dwarfette stops for a moment, before continuing:

"I do wonder, why would Shalelu come? I always had the impression that she travelled alone..."

During the week, Sybil will try to create alchemical material that is non-flammable to impede the natural tendencies of the goblins. Also, she will try to give a hand to Sandru in hiring people and directing the caravan. She might get a bit too involved for the man's taste though.

Liberty's Edge

Ameiko answers...
"Yes, but I have talked to her, and she has agreed to come with us. We are long time friends, and she wants to help me on the trip."
---
Sybil meets with Sandru.
Even if the Varisian man is charming and knows about caravans and the life on the road, she realizes he is not really organized, nor he does it for money.
He does it for the fun, the ideal of the "road-life" and the "freedom" (and, she realizes, for the women he meets on his travels).
He has no business sense, and does as little for his caravan as possible, just barely reaching the next town before the wagon gets irremediable damaged.
If this caravan is going to make for a comfortable journey (or reaching the destination for that matter) it will depend on all of you, not on him.
"Yes, of course, do whatever you need to do! My caravan is your caravan for this next trip, and if Feathers" - the nickname he gives to Galford - "and Ameiko trust you, I trust you too, pretty!"
He winks as a veteran charmer to Sybil.
Make your proposal for alchemical items

Female Sylph Wizard 2

How many scrolls would you say Apex has the time to pen over the week? She'll spend most of her time studying and writing scrolls for the trip.

Apex pipes up from her chair
I... I used to be a guard for Sandru... I know what to do. I would probably be good at that again. I can write some scrolls to help before we leave... Unless you want me to do something else...

She twists the ring on her thumb anxiously, and her voice seems to gain a little more confidence.
Also, I was wondering if there is a place in town to buy magical items or scrolls to learn new spells from... I stayed here for months and never really explored until... This morning.

Liberty's Edge

Kingmaker Exploration Map

Let's say 2 hours per scroll, so 4 / day, so around 20, if you do nothing else.
You can find people selling scrolls for all level 0 and 1 level spells in Sandpoint.

Rolling his eyes at his brother's blatant effort to flirt, Galford joins the rest in obtaining supplies for the caravan. Knowing his brother's penchant, pointing delicately to his companions that such arrangements would be best done by his companions and not his brother who though is a fine caravan master. A fine arrangement he is not.

"We should be able to do this. My brother is good in his own area but this should be best left to us."

Upon being called pretty and so overtly, and insensitively, flirted with, Sybil rolls her eyes in her mind. Yet, she keeps smiling.

"Please mister Vhiski, call me miss Vekker. It will be my pleasure to help you. Thank you Dao for your vote of confidence. Shall we go and try and find a wagon or two for Irnk's tribe?"

Liberty's Edge

Kingmaker Exploration Map

The Varisian man seems unfazed.
"Hey! Mister Vhiski was my father! At least that's what my mother told him!"
He laughs wholeheartedly, hitting Galford on the ribs to ask him to follow suit.
"And beautiful woman should be referred by beautiful names! Vekker sounds so... dwarfish! So fell free to call me lover, and I will do it too!"
He throws a kiss to Sybil, gesturing with his hand, and retreats hastily before Sybil can hit or answer him, singing loudly.
"Although I didn't know that varisian girl,
But knew about her kind of thrill,
Her loves not cheap but always up for sale!"

Upon hearing the half hidden "insult" toward her family name, Sybil's eye grow wide and her face slightly reddish. However, she recovers quickly by repressing her anger and trying to hide it behind a half hearted smile.

Once he leaves, Sybil turns to Dao, looking still flustered.

"Dao, chick, does you brother always act so... foward?" as they make their way to the Wheen's Wagons to look for extra wagons to buy.

Took the name of the wheelwright from the RotRL (which I am currently running) to find possible places to buy wagon stuff.

Female Sylph Wizard 2

During Sandru and Sybil's exchange, Apex sits, and looks horrified at the man's forwardness. When he leaves, she looks terribly relieved that he didn't speak to her. Before the dwarfette leaves, Apex gathers her small pack and speaks.
I... I'll gather supplies we'll need for spellwork and whatnot. I believe I will buy some scrolls and craft some of my own. We... will probably need them. Are there any magics in particular you want me to find?

Apex could do with a protective item of some kind as well. What is available? I'll get her purchases up later, as well as what scrolls she writes up.

Any with an enchantment of +1 or less.

Sybil smiles at Apex.

"Thank you, if you could find anything to extinguish flames, that would be helpful."

Corsario, I am guessing that buying the new wagons with Ameiko's money will not be a problem... right?

Irnk & the other Goblins:
Partly because I am posting from my phone & can't do my usual cut/paste job, partly because they will all be speaking Goblin, I am not going to bother with spoilering/translating any of this. I'm just putting it all in spoilers so that if you don't want to waste your time on this personal sub-plot, you don't have to.
Finally making progress toward acquiring wagons & oxen for his 'tribe', Irnk returns to their meager camp. "Aka! Chee! Murch! We must talk!"

Liberty's Edge

The Goblins arrive to hear their Chieftain, chewing something Irnk is not sure wants to identify.

"'In about a week's time, we will be leaving here. The Longshanks want to go look at an old village of theirs to the North that was abandoned long, long ago & we are going with them. After they come back here, we will keep the village.'"

Right now, that really is his plan.

The goblins smile and keep chewing.
"Great plan boos!"

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23, are they really behind this plan, or are they just going along because they think I'll do something bad to them if they disagree?

Liberty's Edge

Kingmaker Exploration Map

Like good Goblins they are just going along because they KNOW you'll do something bad to them if they disagree.

please, consider the following occuring after Irnk speaks to his tribe.

After Sybil is done taking care of finding new wagons with Dao, she heads toward the temporary campsite of the goblin tribe. On her way, she stops by the guard to remind them, politely, yet one more time, to be patients with the little monsters.

As she enters the camp, she keeps away from the green creatures and goes to Irnk as fast as possible. She approaches looking quite serious and decided to have it her way.

"Irnk, hi. I know you have said that you would think about going north with the caravan. However, I really think you should. There is no need to hesitate, it is your best chance to take your followers somewhere safe. Moreover, after talking with the wheelwright, I know that I can purchase the necessary wagons to carry your folks." she pauses, waiting to hear whatever arguments the paladin might have.

Male Goblin Paladin 2 HP 20/22, +3 Init, AC 18/ 14t/ 15ff, F +6 R +5 W +4, Per -1, 60' Darkvision

Well, if they are just humoring me because I'm 'chief' now, they should be offering me whatever food it is they're eating as well, telling me what it is in the process...
@Sybil, I figured so, I had actually forgotten that Irnk had reacted negatively in the initial conversation.

"You can get us wagons, no," he hawks up a truly vile gobbet of phlem, spitting it on the ground, "horses?"

Galford tries to laugh to support his brother but what comes out is a spluttered cough as the elbow to his rather fragile ribs hurts. No it hurts alot really.

Shrugging and rolling his eyes at his brother's antics, showing that he is more than used to them speaks out after his brother has gone out of earshot.
"Ma always tells me to be more confident like my brother and that's all. She told me to treat all women with respect adn not to be a 'skirt chaser' and something about not being a farmer sowing oats in a field." pausing a moment, he continues.

"Can't really see my brother as a farmer though but yes whenever he sees pretty women, his mind goes to mush and suddenly my brother becomes this forward asking, suave, handome and idiotic. It does mean that all of you are pretty as he's being known to be have a fine eye for women, what ever that means." adding the last part in.

"Now about geting wagons for the goblins....." he mutters more to himself.....

With Dao
"Thank you for the compliment. It is quite appreciated. Also, I believe you are quite confident Dao, and also that you are a nice gentleman. Especially after the last few days. More experience outside Sandpoint will definitely make a great person out of you."

With Irnk
For a brief moment, Sybil seems to squint in frustration. But she quickly returns to her usual and more welcoming expression.

"Yes, there will be horses too, unless you can find other animals to do the job."

Liberty's Edge

Kingmaker Exploration Map

The other Goblins seem alarmed at Sybil mentions of horses...

Male Goblin Paladin 2 HP 20/22, +3 Init, AC 18/ 14t/ 15ff, F +6 R +5 W +4, Per -1, 60' Darkvision

Sighing at Sybil's misunderstanding, Irnk first directs quelling gestures towards the other Goblins before turning back to the Dwarf. "Horses...
not a good idea. Oxen?"

Intimidate: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8, to show the other Goblins they have no reason to get agitated simply at the mention of the hated beasts.
...
Sigh.

Galford Raises an Eyebrow.
"What's wrong with Horses? We use them to pull the wagon usually. Much faster too."

Liberty's Edge

Kingmaker Exploration Map

The goblins starts saying things about horses Irnk is not willing to translate.
And make hand and body movements that everyone can understand as acts of violence and dismemberment.

Sybil eyes the goblins cautiously before resuming the discussion with Irnk.

"Well, oxen is possible, but, as Dao mentionned, would slow down the caravan. Is there a way to convince your tribe?"

Male Goblin Paladin 2 HP 20/22, +3 Init, AC 18/ 14t/ 15ff, F +6 R +5 W +4, Per -1, 60' Darkvision

"Is there a way to convince you that eating the still-beating heart of your enemy is good for you & should be partaken of at every opportunity?" Irnk replies without a hint of irony.

Liberty's Edge

Kingmaker Exploration Map

The goblins behind Irnk nod. They seem to think eating hearts is good for their health.

Sybil grimaces, but keeps her cool.

"If my life depended on it, maybe. There is always the possibility that they walk far behind the caravan and only join us at the camp at night." she half threatens half suggests to the goblins.

Force march the goblins everyday, woo!

Male Goblin Paladin 2 HP 20/22, +3 Init, AC 18/ 14t/ 15ff, F +6 R +5 W +4, Per -1, 60' Darkvision

"In which case, the effect upon your Caravan is no different than had they a wagon pulled by Oxen." Irnk is unmoved by Sybil's humor.

It really is. There is no way the Caravan is going to be able to make better than standard 30' movement speed if they go that route.

"Not if they are willing to walk for 11 or 12 hours a day, in which case, even though the caravan will be much faster, your tribe will be able to catch up to it every night."

That's only true if the caravan waits for the goblin, if it goes at its own pace and travels for 8 hours, then, if the goblins travel around 11 or 12 hours per day, to should catch up to it, although exhausted.

Galford cannot help but chuckle as he realises that he understands everything the goblins says or mostly what they say.

"Aunt Sybil, the goblins have a bad relationship with horses and are likely to eat them. Oxen wouldn't be too bad if we can get them besides the speed we're moving in a caravan usually is at a pace where Oxen can keep up. We seldom get the horses to go fast while pulling caravans. They could get damaged after all."

Female Sylph Wizard 2

In the inn, Apex rolls her eyes at Sandru's forwardness to Sybil. After he's long gone, and when no one is looking of course. She moves forward to speak to Sybil right before the dwarf leaves to the wagons.
If we are traveling with him, you should be wary of his.... nature. It still shocks me every time he... flirts with strangers.

She visibly shudders at the thought, and then speaks again.
One time... He... He even called me... pretty! I had only known him for two days! I was mortified!

After the dwarf leaves, Apex makes her way into town to begin her part of the preparations for the journey. Firstly, she purchases a fine new cloak with a minor protection enchantment on it. It's sky blue, with gold trim. She then goes out and finds quite a few scrolls of spells she has yet to learn (Alarm, Endure Elements, Mount, Obscuring Mist, Unseen Servant, Comprehend Languages, Identify, Floating Disk, and Snapdragon Fireworks. Two of each to make sure she can learn them all in case she fails a check on one.) She also acquires the supplies needed to craft plenty of scroll for the trip.

Total GP spent: 1950

Afterward, she starts to head back to the inn, but changes her mind halfway through. Instead, she finds a nice, soft patch of grass (one Avan would have been proud of), and sits down, and begins sorting through her purchases, getting ready for the tedious work of scribing and learning ahead of her.

Over the next few days, she spends her time with her magic work not indoors, but outside, in soft patches of grass that remind her of Avan.

Will post all the rolls for learning spells later GM.

With the goblins
Upon hearing Dao's explanation, Sybil does remember about this one time when an oxen was part of a caravan she was on. Fighting the uneasiness, she finally agrees with the other two.

"True. Please forgive me for being so stubborn. I will go talk with the people in town to buy oxen. So, will you come now that we have means of bringing your and your followers?"

With Apex
Sybil lets out a barely audible sight.
"I will be fine, I have met many different people in my travels, some harder to handle than others, but I have always managed to adapt. However, if you ever feel like he needs to take some distance, please don't hesitate to tell me and I will make sure he stops bothering you."
