There is nothing of note magical in the room with the exception of a magical cutlass hanging on the wall.
Selene (if you glace her way) has something magical in her pouch she is carrying but nothing else.

sorry little delay lost the file with the adventure notes. found it again so goo to go.
Espy: taking 20 on the box lock you realize that the lock is rather simple to open but before you do so you have discoved what appears to be a needle trap on the lock. guidance not neded the DC was 15
Disable device DC 12
the old logbook is written in Chelaxian did anyone try and read it?
also should be noted that Vincez (the prisoner) is of Chelaxian decent

I had assumed that you all went below decks possibly to the room where Impy and Kimmy are staying to keep everything private
Balthe Synder |
were we ever alone in the room, if so Balthe would have taken the captains strong box, and now he opens it with the key he took
DM of the coins |
In captain Fenn's strongbox (which the key does open) you find 500 gold in a various coinage and a papers to indicate that the money is the crew payroll you also find a personal logbook (not the ship official logbook. it is written in some sort of shorthand and will require a bit of deciphering to figure out (DC 15 Linguistics or DC 18 Profession sailor) deciphering will take probably a couple of hours.
Balthe Synder |
Sailor1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21
This should prove interesting. Will take me a while to decipher but I can do it. I will have to make sure this money gets to the new captain.
Balthe Synder |
Balthe tosses the chelish journal to Espy, while he puzzles out the Captains log book
DM of the coins |
inside the box you got from the derelect ship you find 90 gold coins but all of them appear to be of a very old minting. these coins could prove to be valuable to a coin collector
these 90 coins could fetch close to 500 gold in the right market
also in the box is a ledger indicating that these coins were to be a delivery to a museum in Absalom.
Captain Fenn's book seems to be a personal ledger as well and seems to indicate that Huxley, Ox, Old Pete, and Mr Wendt (the ship's cook) all owe captain Fenn a rather large sum of money.
Valdric |
Appraise: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (10) + 11 = 21
Valdric's eyes open wide as he sees the coins. "Those are quite valuable. We could probably get 4 to 5 times their value if we found the right buyer."
He glances over at Espy. "Any clues to how that other captain got them, or what happened to that ship?"
Grung Knife Tongue |
"Thas why I dont loan err borrow money, sometimes tha borrow gets tired o bein beholden tah tha lender an kills him err tha lender wants his money back an decides he aint gettin it."
***whistles lowly***
"Makes it sound common though having so many o tha crew owein tha captian. Is tha normal?"
Impatiens Pallida |
Impy racks her brain for songs about debt. She settles into one about coal mining. She does not sing it, just plays.

Did my linguistics pull anything?
if its on the chelaxian book yes but I need to just put together the files so you can just download them and read at your liesure.
I am taking out some stuff since you are using linguistics skill over just knowing the language. Captain Fledger book was easy enough to decipher between you and Balthe.
Grung Knife Tongue |
Once Valdric is finished looking at the cutlass, Grung takes it up and makes a few short strokes in the crampped quarters.
"Nice bit o metal, might be better fer Impy since I am focusin more on tha bow."
Passes the weapon on to Impy for some fun.....

ok here is the link to the logbook entries you found and Espy was able to translate from Chelaxian
let me know if you can read it.
Balthe Synder |
What did my sailor check determine on the other book?
Terrible way to die. Starvation and thirst.
DM of the coins |
the other book was Captain Fenn's ledger it was detailing money transactions and indicated that Ox, Huxley, and Wendt (the ships cook) owed a great deal of money to Captain Fenn.
Also there is one entry dtated the day you left port peril indicating
"Special cargo" Deliver to Haanex, do not aloow cargo to get to Blood cove!
payment of 500 gold upon delivery
no name is listed as to who to deliver the cargo to nor what the cargo is.
Balthe Synder |
Balthe passes all the info on to everyone else.
Perhaps we need to examine the cargo.
Does Balthe remember what the cargo the pirate king put on looks like?
Valdric |
Valdric nods his head as he reaches for the pouch on his belt. Drawing out a slender wand, he focuses on it for a few seconds then taps himself on the hand. Looking around the room, he gives a shrug.
"I've got a bad feeling about this.........but let's go."

will put together a post late tonight I have some pressing family matters first but I promise to get it out. sorry about the delay
just some quick info
the carge the pirate lord loaded was a medium sized wooden crate (about the size of 2 large chests combined).
it is located in the hold which is also where the prisoner is caged up.
The crew is on edge but Huxley has manged to assert himself as the new captain. Ox is backing Huxley, as is Wendt (the cook), and Old Pete.
If going to the hold to search the cargo I will put together what you find there. just let me know huxley trusts Balthe and Ox trusts Impy, Kimmy will remain in the cabin unless you want her somewhere else. Impy you learned that Kimmy is an Oracle dedicated to Pharasma
Balthe Synder |
I say we bring her along. No danger in the hold of a ship, and she is small enough to squeeze in places we are not. Besides she is probably tired of being couped up.
