Zynazyr
Zynazyr looks down the hall at the wizard's door and then back at Brathas, shaking his head "no". "I am only able to create one at a time and I put one at the wizard's door until we decide if we are returning or exploring further. Perhaps Ana can do that for us," he says turning to Ana.
When Ferrous suggests the oil, he considers it for a moment but again shakes his head "no". "I don't think that would be a good idea. Not only could we destroy any treasure but, if there are rats in there, it would most likely drive them away from us instead of through the passage; the opposite of what we want to happen. Now, if someone were to go around to the other door and stick a lit torch into the room, it could force them this way. But I think that's too risky since we don't know for certain what is there and that may not work. I think we are better off staying here and throwing something in, like one of the books we just found. Fistep, how far do you think you could throw one?" he says looking at the fighter.
Ferrous Grimgond
Ferrous shakes his head. I don't mean to scare the rats I mean to burn them. Besides if the door is shut then they are trapped that way.
Is your great plan to draw the rats to us so we have to fight them rather than burn a score of them away. If you aren't going to use that torch in an intelligent way why not back up and let my eyes see what they can see.
he says waving the torch back so his infravision can work.
Zynazyr
Zynazyr is taken aback by the dwarf's response, somewhat offended that the fighter would question his intelligence, but recognizes that the light is interfering with the dwarf's vision. "Fair enough. Let me move so that you can see what is beyond the corridor. You may want to move, Fistep, as you won't be able to see much," he says as he moves back up the hall enough so Ferrous can use his infravision.
Anastoria
Ana takes up a position in the main corridor and readies to swing her greatsword at any enemy that draws near.

Okay, weekend is over, back to the game... :)
Ferrous enters the chamber, and Fistep pulls back. Zynazyr takes the light up the hallway back towards the magician's tomb, allowing the small chamber to fall into darkness.
As the chamber darkens, Ferrous' infravision begins to function. He can see that beyond the 10' narrow passage the area opens out into a larger chamber, though from the angle is at Ferrous cannot see the north or south end of that room. He can see across it though and can make out a wall on the opposite side and a door in the center of the wall, roughly where he expects them to be.
As he watches, he sees a rat scamper across the far end of the narrow passage, from north to south.
Ferrous: The part of the room to the west that you can actually see from your position is outlined by the purple lines. The purple lines are not walls; they are just the limits of your field of view.
So what next?
Brathas
"We could bait them onto this side with some of our rations, or go around and enter from that side where it seems to be more spacious. Or we could go through the narrow passage waving torches to keep them at bay until we see what is in there.
I don't want to set the room on fire until we know if there are scrolls or books or tapestries of value."
Ferrous Grimgond
For how many rounds is poured out oil flammable? Thinking we coat this passage with oil and try to lure the rats with some food and then light the oil burning them. We could also try sending someone to knock on the door on the other side the loud noise could scare the rats over the oil.
Right protect the invisible tapestries. Very valuable. I see rats and since everyone is against using fire in the room maybe we can lure or scare the rats into the hallways and then use fire.
Zynazyr
Zynazyr struggles to hear what the dwarf is saying but can tell he's grumpy as usual and complaining. He waits to hear what Ferrous can see now that the light is not interfering.

For how many rounds is poured out oil flammable?
Oil on the floor will continue to burn for a considerable amount of time (a turn or so). Oil on a creature only burns that creature for two rounds before the oil has poured off onto the floor.
Ferrous Grimgond
Ferrous not hearing a response from anyone takes a few steps back and then turns around to rejoin the group.
What are ye deaf? Did me beard cover my mouth sos ye can't hear me? There's rats in there, as I suspected. Passageway opens up into a room. My suggestion is lure or scare the rats into the passageway once it is coated with some oil and then when the rats cross over the oil light it on fire but guessing everyone suddenly came down with pyrophobia over the night. Do our spell casters have sleep spells?
Wallia of Winterbourne Stoke
Walia says, "I think a combination of approaches may be best. Here is what I think we should do, pour oil into a square or so into a kill zone where we then leave a small oil trail leading to where we are at the front of the trail we put a ration, once the majority of rats are in the killing zone, we ignite the oil burning most."
Brathas
"I'd prefer the Sleep spell rather than using fire. Rats on fire could run back into that room. We've found scrolls, books, and a magic cloth banner in these rooms.
But if we decide to use fire I will do my part. Go around the other side with a lit torch?"
Ferrous Grimgond
Fine we can go with wasting our spells on a bunch of rats when fire would do just fine but when there is nothing of value in the room over there Brathas will have to shine my boots.
Ferrous says in a huff as he shifts about uncomfortably.
Shine my boots being a Dwarven expression of admitting subservience or in this case basically admitting that Ferrous was right.
Zynazyr
Zynazyr returns to the group when he hears everyone talking to Ferrous. "I have to agree with Brathas. As someone who likes to collect scrolls, I would rather not risk it. I'm sure you wouldn't like it if I started throwing acid around an armory?" he says to Ferrous.
"Maybe Ferrous and Ana can go around since they can both see without light and try to drive them towards us. Or I can just throw a sleep spell in there and we rush in to finish them off," he suggests.

"I have a sleep spell. Are we certain this is what we wish to do?"
FYI the paizo boards don't support the tag.
----
FYI: Scrolls and spellbooks will burn as a result of flaming oil but a magic item like the magic banner wouldn't unless the fire is magical.
Also FYI: If these are normal rats acting alone or in swarms, they can move through the space occupied by a person.
----
So... do we have a plan? Some people seem to object to using flaming oil.
It sounds like the latest suggestion is a two-pronged attack with Ana and Ferrous using one entrance and everyone else using the other.
Brathas
"Okay. Then is there any reason to split up? Cast one of the Sleep spells, then we move in and take care of any that remain.
Ana, can you conjure a magical light the way Zynazyr does?"
Zynazyr
"No, I do not have that spell prepared," Ana answers Brathas.
It's just the cantrip - small, candle-like light. 5' radius. I can end my other one to recast if necessary but I think you can cast it.
"Alright, let's float in the light to the middle of the room and see if that is enough to attract the rats. If not, we can throw a piece of food in also. When some rats come to investigate, I'll cast the sleep spell, then we go in to finish them off. Sound like a plan?" Zynazyr says to the group as they prepare.

Ana enchants a coin which begins to glow faintly. She hands it to Fistep.
With the coin in one hand, Fistep proceeds carefully down the hallway, while the rest of the group bunches up in the narrow chamber. Fistep emerges into the larger room, though the light he holds is too dim to illuminate much of the room.
2d6 ⇒ (5, 1) = 6
To his north, Fistep can hear faint rustling sounds as suspects that the rats must be there. But no rats come out to swarm him.
So now what?
* Drop some food as bait for the rats?
* Give the main light source to Fistep so he can look around (and maybe toss the coin back)?
* Have Fistep move towards the sound?
* Have the rest of the party advance?
* Something else?
Lost City DM

Sadly, Fistep clearly can't really see anything beyond the dim radius of the witch-light. In the area he is in he can see small bits of debris on the floor but that is all.

Fistep? Anyone else?
I don't like to proceed one just one person's input.
Lost City DM

Fistep drops the glowing coin on the floor, and digs some dried food out of his pack (don't think you've killed anything fresh yet today) and drops it on the floor in sight of the others.
The red circle represents the food.
I am assuming here, but... Because he doesn't wish to be swarmed by rats unless he has to, he steps back 5' to the west.
2d6 + 2 ⇒ (1, 2) + 2 = 5 It was possible that the food would make them friendly, sort of, but I guess not.
He hears scurrying, and before he knows it rats are all around him. These are no ordinary rats; they are gigantic! Some of the rats go for the food but others are coming for him!
Prepared Action:
Zynazyr casts his spell, and sparkling sand appears in the air and gently rains on the rats.

Fistep swings but the targets are too small and nimble, and his sword point scrapes the floor.
Yeah, you don't have enough movement to do that I don't think because Ana is in your way for that maneuver.
Fistep is correct. Your 20' move would put you in the same square as Ana. You could move further than that if you don't want to attack. or you could get behind Brathas and use the sling. You would be +1 for short range but -2 for cover. There are both sleeping and live targets.
