Hi to all. This is a call to all those excellent characters who weren't chosen in the rise of the Runelords Redux game.
Same conditions for characters, with first preference to characters from that thread. I'll note down character design basics (so we are on the same page), but this should go quick as your characters are done.
I would like to start play on Monday.
Many thanks to dm loup blanc for starting us on this path

Copied from DM loup blanc's rise of the Runelords Redux thread.
Note a change or two. All third party is on a case by case decision.
Starting Level: 1st. The PCs will one day become great heroes, having overcome incredible dangers along the way... but they have humble beginnings.
--Special Rule: Gestalt! We'll be using the gestalt system for leveling up, meaning you advance in two classes and take the best of both. If you're unfamiliar with the system, a quick web search should get you what you need to know.
Ability Scores: Use a 25 point-buy by standard Pathfinder rules. You're great heroes with many talents and strengths.
Races: I don't explicitly disallow any given race, because soemone might wow me with a great backstory, but use good sense, and keep in mind your race is more than just numbers and abilities on a sheet. If you play a drow, people are going to react to that; same for any other distinctly odd or monstrous-looking race. Core and featured races are your best bets, unless you give me a great backstory to explain how you've come to be in Sandpoint.
--Templates: Not at game start. If your character concept involves hoping for something down the line, mention it as wishful thinking, but no guarantees. This is not the game to put forward your Advanced Natural Wereocelot.
Classes: I allow all Paizo published classes; the only one I can think of that raises an eyebrow for this area is the gunslinger, but a decent backstory will explain that. Unchained is recommended, but not required (although Summoners must use the Unchained spell list).
--Archetypes: I'm mentioning this since it comes up sometimes: I'm fine with archetypes, and feel free to use them for a different flavor than their origins. Sometimes a mechanical setup works perfectly for an idea that doesn't fit the flavor, and that's okay by me. I also have no issues with archetype stacking (per the usual requirements), as a general rule, so go for it.
--Third Party: this needs to be run by me specifically, on a case-by-case basis of what you want to use, before I can allow it; I also need access to it, meaning that if it isn't on the d20pfsrd website, it probably won't work.
Traits: Each character begins with a campaign trait for Rise of the Runelords; you also gain two other traits of your choice, for a total of three. You may take a drawback for an additional trait, but I will hold you to that drawback both mechanically and in terms of roleplaying.
--On Traits: Traits should be more than just a way to gain a class skill or bigger numbers on your sheet: they should inform an aspect of your character's background. I'm fine with reflavoring a trait for you to gain the same advantage, but it needs to be explained somewhere.
Starting Wealth: Maximum for your class at 1st level (e.g., a fighter or other 5d6x10 gp class would begin with 300 gold pieces to spend). There are several traits that add to this, whether in gold or equipment--these are powerful tools, so don't use them lightly.
Sources: To reiterate, most anything Paizo is available, with exceptions here and there. If it's from a hardcover you're probably fine--if you want to use something from an obscure source, please point out to me where it's from and I'll make sure it's okay. Third-party is allowed on a case by case basis.
Alignment: At risk of causing a big debate (please, please for the love of the gods don't start one in this thread), no alignments within one step of Chaotic Evil. The reasons for barring NE and CE should be clear; CN is banned due to probability for shenanigans and it being unlikely that a truly Chaotic Neutral individual would go through the entirety of this AP. Lawful Evil will be looked at with a leery eye, but if you believe you can build one that will get along with the party (and well), I'm willing to give it a look.
House and Optional Rules
--Background Skills are a go, including Artistry and Lore.
--Combat Stamina and its related systems are allowed; Fighters can access these for free, anyone else can take the feat.
--Feat Taxes are a thing I don't like, and to help combat them I'm using some changes I've recently been made aware of. This article discusses some of the basic alterations in depth, and this table has some more changes that we'll be using. Nothing major is altered here--it simply does away with some feats that don't need to exist, and combines some others to make things more streamlined.
--Variant Multiclassing is allowed, but it means you cannot multiclass in any other way. (For example, you could be a fighter/wizard VMC cleric, but you couldn't then multiclass from fighter to rogue down the line.) This does lock you out of prestige classes.

glibness |

Question on the last table the performance feat that lets you count every combat as a performance was not permitted. Are you going with the same ruling? If not I have a PC I've been wanting to play for a long time that needs to be gestalt to work.
If not permitted this time I'll repost my last submission here when I get home tonight.

Zeldana Amaria |

Oh yes, the trait will allow, sorry slipped my mind. I still would like it reflected in you background. If you already have, no problems then.
No problem there! Just wanted to make sure. I'll edit the knowledge check again and add the language once more. Do not worry, story reasons all around!

Cale Vatay |

As an elf with the alternate racial trait "elven arrogance" I have my bonus language options to include "any one ancient language"
Would you let this apply to thassalon?
If not could I use an outsider language instead?
Ever since he found that what his father did for a living was mostly fake, he vowed to learn real magic and real swoedsmanship and become the greatest wizard... No... Greatest hero ever known.
He took the first opportunity he could to leave his family after that point, signing up to be a bodyguard for an elf family, in particular the daughter as a result of her awakening new and powerful Psychic magics, in exchange for watching over the young woman the family taught him magic and tactics and alchemy, and he served them for a few years before the two of them left her parents to research ancient Thasolonian magics, and Cale'anon decided to continue to act as her Bodyguard, despite no longer being taught by her parrents. Cale'anon woeked as her bodyguard and magical assistat. One day he noticed That she had been burning herself out when he heard about the festival and eventually managed to convince her to live a little and join the party.

Is this thread only open to those from the aforementioned closed thread, or public as well?
I've an idea for an Avowed //Gunslinger (Mysterious Stranger), though Gunslinger could probably be replaced. Heck, I would be quite, quite interested in an Avowed mixed with the Spheres of Might playtest, using aether grasp and the Wrestling sphere.

Ruaidhrigh Katanalisko |

Did someone call for a wolf-mounted flamethrower? Wouldn't you enjoy the companionship of a gnome that even other gnomes find a little...unstable? Would you like to spend every day hoping your companion can keep his pyromania under control and not get kicked out of (another) town? No, wait, ignore that last one. At any rate, here's Ruaidhrigh, the lava gnome Pyrokineticist/Cavalier with the unpronounceable Old Irish name (actually, it's pronounced "Rory"). Now capable of translating Common, Giant, Gnome, Goblin, Sylvan, and Wolf! (No, really, there's a trait for constant Speak With Animals with one species).

This is the only 3pp thing I'm using.
Aboleth bloodline.
The bloodline looks good, though creepy. And icky. :)

Cale Vatay |

Cale@ Pretty good, but why is he arrogant? I would have thought he would be more cosmopolitan considering his background. I like the father's background (rogue with charlatan archetype?).
good point.
I suppose I mostly picked it early on in the character development for the extra bonus vs charms and enchantments which are bad for the fighter to fail and I later justified the mechanical effects as things I was taught by our Psychic/sorcerer's parrentsI'll nix that.
On the plus side I no longer need to spend a rank of linguistics to learn common

Cale Vatay |

Cale'anon has very diversified talents for a swordsman
He adds his int to AC when in light armor and not wearing a shield (he's not going to be wearing much armor because regardless he still takes spell failure chance)
He is taking the bodyguard line to use his attacks of oppurtunity to add to his party member's AC
Later he will be able to spend them to attack arrows that are shot at him
I am also considering taking either enforcer or curmudgeon smash to make intimidate checks when I hit someone.
So he's going to eventually have nonmagical buff debuff and attack
But also he has some magic and alchemy

glibness |

@ChillBlame Sorry for the late response I just got off of work and wanted to type this out on a comp rather than on my phone.
So my end goal for this character is to be able to use bardic performance to enhance my allies, trip an opponent, and be able to intimidate all enemies as per Dazzling Display in one round (This all comes online at level 7 so it's a long con at level 3 or 4 I'll be able to do it in 2 rounds)
In the Ultimate Combat, there is a new type of fighting that is called performance fighting.
http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/ultimateCombat/combat/performanceCombat. html
Normally you are only considered to be in a performance combat when you enter a combat under specific circumstances. However, the feat Performance Combatant allows you to make a Performance check in any kind of combat. The DC of which is 20
In a performance combat whenever you succeed at a Combat Maneuver Check you may as a swift action make a performance check.
Finally, the Feat Hero's Display allows me to make an Intimidate check against all foes within 30 ft when I make a performance combat check.
So as an example my average round would be put up Bardic Performance, Trip someone, Intimidate check.
I'm probably (if it's allowed) going to take 3 levels of Anti-paladin (the Archtype that allows you to be LE) so I can get the 3rd level ability Aura of Cowardice that states you can't be immune to fear effects.
I hope that all makes sense and if you want links to the feats or abilities let me know.

HedwickTheWorldly |

@Chill: It's not actually an archetype, rather a different school specialization. Really though? I would think the same magic of the runelords would be appropriate. That was the idea for the character, to attempt to become one.
I feel like you get the opportunity to make your case in a compelling background. As a person who GMs, I'd just like to offer that friendly advice as an alternative to disputing a GM's ruling with "I disagree."

Emilio Deivon |

That's a fair point hedwick, I'd like to point out that I did. I have it outlined in my backstory as loup originally wanted.
If chill still doesn't allow it, I understand.
You realize they are the bad guys right? The runelords. And having at least finished part of the second book, I can tell you that is a bad idea. It will most likely pit you against the party.

chillblame |

@Chill: It's not actually an archetype, rather a different school specialization. Really though? I would think the same magic of the runelords would be appropriate. That was the idea for the character, to attempt to become one.
Well, the path starts at a time when that sort of magic was exceedingly rare. In fact much of this type was discovered during the path, mostly as opposition. As said above, the bad guys.
Hows this for an idea. Let your character be the discoverer of this, so your character goes this way over the course of the game. Certainly give an interesting path for your character. Sort of a fall from grace.
As to in party conflicts, I tend to dislike these as it breeds bad feelings around the table. But somewhat preplanned...that could add good roleplay. As long as we are mature about. I reward great roleplay.
Note that there would be certain conditions on that type of thing, which are best discussed by pm. This thing could apply to other characters of course. Think about this. The morally grey mage is drawing suspicions, but is actually trying his best to help, when someone else uses that to stick the knife in. Or maybe he is the bad guy.
The result would be the PC becoming a NPC eventually, a sub boss for the party to oppose. Replaced of course by a new character at the appropriate level.
This would be a slow process, over several of the adventures.
