The hour passes slowly, but at last the blanching is done. After banking the fire, you step out into the falling snow. In front of you, you see a rope bridge, swaying in the wind, which has picked up a bit. The stream below still runs, but looks very cold, with some ice forming. The planks of wood are covered in ice.

You consider the bridge. It is a rope bridge, with single file needed to cross. It is swaying gently in the wind. The ropes and boards seem to be covered in ice, as if somerhing spilled water on it it, then froze it immediately.

The creature is about ten feet from the other end of the bridge.
