As the others pack awway the perverbial "Loot of war", Zupon remains sitting down catching his breath and steadying his nerves. He'd fought undead, and creatures. But not often humans-much less throwing an explosive in a small room with them. That was a new sensation..

Perking up at Chigao's "At the least it...we could judge their reaction to it. We will have to remain vigilant while we're in town. That would be where I would attack us if they're dirty."

"If we leave them loose.. creatures will come in to eat them, and the smell will come. Trust me. That smell is distinct and lingers.... But if we dont' get involved with the creatures-it might cause those inside issues. So depends... Burial, or advantage with risk for later?"

"For the health and hygiene of the surrounding area, I shall look for some shovels and begin digging graves," Xephkiel said resolutely, then perked up with inspiration.

Searching the second floor is largely futile. Other than smoldering embers and charred silhouettes of former things, only the kitchen still has usable items. Chigao lucks out, though, and finds a small black gem buried beneath a large pile of charcoal.

On the floor above, there are 3 chests in total; 2 in one room and 1 in the other. All three are underneath beds.

Xephkiel is able to find a shovel in the basement, outside the dank cells.

If some of the other characters, such as Andru, Braggi[?], Kurian[?], Nathan or Randall [if they do arrive at the keep?], Reithic, Xephkiel, or Zupon wishes to suggest that bit about placing all the spare armor and weaponry in a container to locked up in the Jail cell below, I don't mind having another character making that suggestion, especially due to high intelligence, wisdom, or even experience.

I do wonder if the keys on the key-ring would open them up though...", as she taps softly on the key ring from the key-hook by the basement stairs.

Perception on first chest: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8.
Perception on second chest: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19.
Perception on third chest: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23.

Just occurred to me; may as well be thorough by checking for traps and things underneath those beds.

Perception underneath first bed: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18.
Perception underneath second bed: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8.
Perception underneath third bed: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18.

If no keys in the key-ring fits inside the locks for all three chests, Chigao will attempt to pick the locks if they're all truly locked, if needed.

Lockpick attempt one: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24.
Lockpick attempt two: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21.
Lockpick attempt three: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (6) + 10 = 16.

Zupon doesn't really know much about the prison cells, and isn't exactly used to keeping folks armour.

"I didn't really bring a charcoal rucksack. but it would be useful. Hmm, do you have reason to believe the gem is more than justa gem?"

GM, what roll would you like for that kind of thing? I'll rolla d20 to add whatever skill if applicable. Or you can roll something, or i'll roll in a reply. whatever works~

The astral deva begins his arduous work of putting his former enemies in the ground. Xephkiel notices an conflicted Zupon looks on as he begins. After completing his first grave, the good outsider straightens his back and goes through his backpack to remove his gallon barrel of mead, placing it at the scholar's feet.
"Mind starting that one for me, Zupon. It will be a few more minutes before I take a break to join you", Xephkiel said as he flashed a winning smile at the unconventional healer. "Healing without a connection to the Higher Planes. Nice trick you have there."

Eying the ale for a bit, "I'll certainly keep you company with it. but I'll skip out on drinking....also. Were you carrying multiple barrels of ale with you? Haha. Zupon ponders such oddities and smiles lightly as life is always interesting.
"The body wants to heal, its just a matter of giving it the fuel to do so. I can't do much if its too weak or too far gone.

While it wasn't what Xeph intended. The young scholar makes good use of the barrel of ale..as a platform to continue mixing supplies.

Zupon will make more Alchemical Items while we wait. I'll decide what in a bit. Want more attacks but we're pretty healing tapped out and still have a trip.

After studying the onyx, Chigao believes it to be worth about 5 gold; the fire and char mars the surface too greatly.

The key ring does not appear to have any luck with the chests, although they don't appear to be trapped. After spending some time, Chigao is able to systematically open them:

(1) spare clothes (M), leather sack (127 cp, 39 sp and 3 gp).
(2) spare clothes (F), scrap of parchment
(3) 430 cp, 126 sp and 16 gp; set of silver cutlery

Thankfully the ground is softened by the heavy rain, but it makes the work wet, unpleasant, and rather messy as reddish-brown clay plops with each plunge of the shovel. Traces of the clay covers Xephkiel's lower legs.

After the first few bodies are laid to rest, the rain starts to lighten up to a light drizzle.

Where exactly are you burying the bodies? Mind marking it on the map?

No worries, Zupon- your in-character reasoning sounds fine by me; Andru, mayhaps you would be okay with voicing the cell/armor/weapon/container suggestion part? :)

Keeping in her own mind just how uneasy the Young Scholar seemed during the aftermath of this particular battle in his attempt to center himself- Something that Zupon definitely didn't need to do after that wild wolf encounter a few nights back!- Chigao deliberately answers Zupon's question with, "Other than this being worth about 5 gold at most in it's obvious burnt state, it would seem odd that Bareli would leave such an obvious gem like this just hidden among a pile of charcoal; I would imagine that she would've kept it secreted upon her person or her belongings, if anything.", as she hands the burnt gem over to the uneasy seeming Scholar in the hopes that some odd mystery concerning this gem would help to keep his mind off of dwelling upon that earlier battle.

Since Zupon had to deal with undead in the past, perhaps he might recognize its' use in general undead necromancy? ;)

After noting the contents of all three chests, Chigao busies herself by emptying out all of the chests by placing both spare clothes and parchment scrap [taking care not to damage it, if it's fragile, but not bothering to open or read it if it can be helped] atop one of the beds, then placing all of the coins in the leather sack, while placing the set of silver cutlery atop the coins [if it'll fit inside the bag, otherwise she'll leave the set next to the sack] and leaving that leather sack atop of another nearby bed.

Then taking out one of her dulled daggers, the Young Kunoichi carefully uses it to pry at the corners of all three empty chests just to make certain that none of them had any false interior bottoms or tops. If none of the chests have any false bottoms or tops Feel free to roll for her, if needed, DM rel20. :), Chigao will then place both sets of clothing into one randomly chosen chest and then carefully place the parchment atop that spare clothing before closing it. Afterwards, taking another random chest, the Kunoichi Lass places the leather sack with the coins and cutlery set in that other chest and closes it, then she will finally leave to join up with the others with both chests in tow and telling them of what she's found.

Perhaps that parchment may be something important?, Chigao ponders as she makes her way to the rest of the party.

Just outta curiosity, DM rel20, would the chests be enough to hold the leftover armors and weapons... that presumably would be kept in a separate pile from the corpses to be buried? And were all 3 chests about the same in size?

Off hand he sure wouldn't know! He spent plenty of time avoiding them, or ambushing a few straglers. Doesn't lend itself to learnig how to make them! though if he had a reason he could try a religion check. Not sure much indication for him though

The chests are about 2' x 1' x 1'... sized large enough to place folded clothes in. So yes, depending on what they are...

Andru takes his time finding barrels and taking them downstairs to the cell and then gradually loading all the weapons and armor they do not wish to take with them into the barrels. Tamping down the lids and then burning wax to and melting it along the top of the barrles to show its sealed, so they would know if someone came and tampered with it after.

Its tkes some time to do so, but when he is done he shows his work to his allies...What do you think?

"We've got exactly 557 copper pieces, 165 silver pieces, and 19 gold pieces in coins plus some silverware cutlery in this leather sack; those can be divvied up in town among the six of us, if necessary. There's also some spare clothing if anyone will have a need for them..."

After informing the other party members of what she had precisely found in those three chests, Chigao hands over the parchment scrap to whomever might be able to read it [Zupon or Andru?] while handing off the leather sack for somebody else much more stronger to heft around due to its' weight [Xephkiel or another fellow party member?].

If there's anything among the spare female clothing that might fit or be resizable enough for Chigao to use, then she'll take one or two article/s of clothes if there's enough allowance for the encumbrance weight.

Following Andru and the others down to the lower cell after he has those barrels all loaded up and freshly sealed [the warrior-priestess of Gorum's identifying accouterments excepted], Chigao helps to unlock the cell door with the keyring before turning to the others and asking, "What should we do about the bandit's other captive, this goblin that Reithic was in here with? We might be able to tie it up and possibly bring it back to town for questioning. Otherwise...?"

DM rel20, is the Goblin prisoner still unconscious from Reithic's kick?

Andru glances at the parchment to see if he can read it Common, Goblin, Dwarf, Gnome, Draconic

as he thanks Chigao for the compliment. he then thinks for second. We probably need to take the Goblin with us...for several reasons. Just one being I dont think its safe to leave him in the cell alone with no captors guarding him...to him or our future endeavors.

"I don't speak goblins. I'm not sure what use there would be in bringing them to town. Either way enough death, so free or take them with us-though I doubt the town would be terribly friendly. Given the distance to town we could ask a few questions on the way. Then cut them lose or.... stuff." Zupon comments, feeling tired.

If there's any ropes available from any of the crates down here in the basement, Chigao will use that to tie up the Goblin Prisoner with- otherwise, just let me know how much of her 50' rope could be used to tie up the Goblin with. After that, she'll proceed to free the Goblin from his chains/shackles via key-ring or lockpicking... unless it needs to be done before all the tying up.

Perception on Goblin, if needed: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
Perception for traps, if needed: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11
If a Lockpicking roll is needed: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

After Andru, Zupon, and Xephkiel makes their thoughts known on the matter, Chigao will say, "Very well then, someone may have to carry the goblin along- possibly even two, if we find a long enough pole or stretcher. We'd best go and inform Reithic that we'll be leaving the tower soon and to see if he wishes to travel back to town with us."

After recalling how Reithic didn't seem to get along with the Goblin [vividly remembering the last kick that the Dwarven Merchant gave, especially], the Young Kunoichi Lass thoughtfully adds, "It might even be preferable to keep Reithic and this Goblin away from one another; they didn't seem to get along very well..."

Going back up to where Reithic is eating at, Chigao [and possibly some of the others if they went along with her] will duly inform the Dwarven Merchant that the party is ready to leave the keep tower and he'd be more than welcome to accompany them all the way back to Swallowfeld.

"We'll also have to take the Goblin with us as well; presumably, the authorities back at town might have an interest in it too- possibly even a bounty. If you'd prefer to make your own way back to town, we'll allow you to do so but it may be far more safer to come along with all of us."

Way I sees it, having our goblin prisoner, if still unconscious, being carried by both Kurian and Braggi might be for the best.

Looking towards Andru, Zupon, and Reithic, the Young Kunoichi Lass says, "Do you think we can make it back to Swallowfeld before nightfall? We might just be able to push through with some late travel at worst."

Nodding to the tall and slightly tipsy- if her reading upon the world-bound Deva Caydenite is entirely correct- Chigao replies to him with, "If we're to make it before nightfall back to town, we'll have to get going soon; will you be alright or will you need a quick rest before we go?"

Trying to answer the backlog...

Andru and Chigao inspect the parchment to see that it's a map.

It's also linked in the campaign info.

Chigao finds female clothing, but it's for a woman twice her size.

The goblin is unconscious at the time the party decides to tie him up; doing so is not a problem. Reithic frowns at the course of action, but bites his tongue given that he's in the party's debt.

Measuring by hand-stretching and holding out one limb/leg length of the incredibly large female clothes out to its' full size at a time, Chigao briefly examines its' very enormity with an unbelieving look of incredulous shock present upon her face as the Kunoichi Lass half-wonders whom the clothes were even made for. I swear, I don't think I've seen anyone among the bandits, She-Devil included, who'd even fit in any of these clothing at this size!

Chigao opts to not take along any of the 10-foot clothing then since they really aren't in her size range. ;p

If the goblin remained unconscious upon our journey back to Swallowfeld, would we have to wait until tomorrow to heal it up? We could prolly drop off the goblin with the town guards if needed though- not sure if the innkeeper would want us keeping the goblin overnight. ;p

We'd end up having to check in with town authorities about the goblin/proof of the She-Devil's demise/Reithic as the first order of business in town then?

The sweet scent of applewood smoke mixed with poultry fat is carried by the wind way before the Wolf's Head tavern comes into sight. The popping of firewood sends heavy pieces of ash into the air.

Inside Maban and his wife are busy preparing for the dinner rush. Maban's burly fist holds an old towel in hand, cleaning away at the tables as Bleja sits behind a pile of potatoes, peeling away.

Another thought on the matter, as a compromise, could be that Sheila, being worried about Xephkiel, decided to go and surprise him with an unannounced visit to Swallowfeld?

Alternatively, mebbe the map discovery had us returning to Olfden after hand-waving all that stuff with the goblin/Reithic/proof of the She-Devil's demise/treasure distribution at Swallowfeld? In such an event, would this mean that Nathan and Randall have already joined up with us while Kurian and Braggi either stayed or returned back with all of rest?

A third alternative would be that we're fast-forwarding to Olfden for now but will, thru flashbacks, handle all of the goblin/Reithic/proof of She-Devil's demise/splitting of the treasure/having Nathan and Randall joining up with us in full, actual postings? AKA' there was that time that we...

No worries, Xephkiel- would you prefer to have Sheila stay in Olfden for now or have her visiting Swallowfeld?

@everyone [including our newer members and GM]: Should we play things off as arriving to the inn is the very first thing we all do once we get to town? There's plenty of opportunities for hijinks with the goblin/Reithic/proof of a dead bandit leader in tow... although we have some inkling of where the authorities/mayor is staying at- even if we've never visited him in person- so dropping those three off beforehand is also doable. ;)

Ok, the group returns to Swallowfeld and the inn. Reithic and the goblin in tow. We'll just say it's Sunday for the sake of placing Nathan at the inn.

Bleja looks up and lets out a shriek.

"In Torag's name, I know I'm covered in grime, but there's no need to go into hysterics," Reithic says, winching at the sound.

"Not you! The goblin!" Bleja yells, looking at Reithic as if she's just noticing him. "But now that you mention it, good gods, that stink! You'll ruin the stew and everyone's appetite!"

Reithic rolls his eyes and then turns to the group, "I don't suppose you can cover for a bath as well?"

Bleja turns to the goblin's chaperone, "Come on! Out! Out with that thing!"

Andru thought to himself that he could also use a bath. He knew he had grime, sweat, blood, grease, wood splinters, ash, besides dirt covering him. Yeah we can all use a bath and a room.

Gonna take some liberties if I may, just to get this show on the road.

Randall wipes some sweat from his brow with the bag of his hand as he steps into the inn. Whoever had planned his patrols had done a pretty good job. He'd been "accidentally" sent too far afield to return home unless he planned to march through the night, and he didn't plan to kill himself just for pride and appearance.

Looks like I came at an interesting time. he thinks, part in exasperation but mostly in amusement as he looks at the gathering of oddballs.

He walks up to the counter. "Need a room, bath, and dinner if you're not full up." he takes another quick glance around the room, noting the dingier than usual occupants. "Looks like you're hosting some bounty hunters tonight?"

He gives the innkeeper a meaningful glance; a chance to signal otherwise if her new guests were of teh unwelcome variety.

Sounds good to me, DM rel20; now we can let those shenanigans fly loose with Reithic and one [presumably] unconscious Goblin into the mix, along with our newcomers. So how much will it cost for the use of the baths for Reithic and the Party? ;)

Looking quite a bit worse for the wear herself [flour, blood, ash, and grime never does help in making those impressions!], Chigao fidgets nervously for a moment as she gives an abashed look of embarrassment over to Reithic and her fellow party members before she coughs inconspicuously into her knuckles and gently clears out her throat before she tugs at her magic sleeves [Thank all the ancestors that Master Naru had the foresight to make sure that this handy trinket was part of my Kunoichi outfit!] and pulls at them in a slightly downplayed flourish whereupon the ruined visage of her grimy Burglar's Outfit [with one of the sleeves cleanly sliced opened where Bareli clearly had made her mark with the cleaver] changes almost instantaneously into a respectable Courtier's Outfit, all cleaned and unblemished. Unfortunately, the same could not be said of the rest of her physical features, aside from her clothing.

Giving an apologetic curtsy over to Bleja and Maban, the Young Kunoichi Lass says, "You have our utmost apologies for entering your premises in such an unruly state, milady Bleja- if you could find it in your heart to allow Reithic here to clean himself up a bit; we recently freed him from some... less than ideal circumstances; I'm sure that we can come up with some kind of remuneration for all of the troubles."

Giving a nod of reassurance over to Reithic, Chigao continues to speak while she motions over to both Kurian and Braggi- both of whom were holding the unconscious goblin, tied securely with some found ropes and poles, aloft. "Of course, we'll be more than willing to see this Goblin off to the guards- and out of your Inn. We will have need for someone to guide us there- or be given directions to there at the very least."

Looking over to Andru, Xephkiel, and Zupon, Chigao motions over to them to come a bit closer and whispers aloud, "Not all of us will have to go over to the Guards all at once though. Which one of you will want to see to the Guards along with Braggi, Kurian, and I and which ones among you will help to see to Reithic? It'll give those of you seeing to Reithic the chance to clean up a bit as well."

While splitting up the party isn't always the recommended thing to do, it may help to hasten up both the removal of the goblin and get Nathan's attention focused on Reithic- if the family friend thing is still in effect. Plus there'll still be some party members to meet both Randall and Nathan beforehand.

If a Diplomacy roll will be needed for Maban and Bleja: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20.

A heavily bearded man with a thinning crown looks over from the commotion. "Aye, we can do that. Welcome to the Wolf's Head tavern. Bounty hunters? I don't recall them being bounty hunters... although I'm not sure what they're doing with the green skin other than causing a ruckus. That'll be 2 silver for the room and 5 silver for the meal," answers the proprietor.
