I don't know when you are making the decision but I am fairly busy at work today and won't get around to finishing the character until later today. For now the reason he is in Dvaarnava is because the monks heard of his defense of the forest in southern Corvagura. Reidra is requiring more wood for the war effort and, by the time he gets there, the forest he used to call home is almost completely gone, including the old oak. He begins a one man campaign to stop them but is failing. The monks convince him to join their cause to defeat Reidra or at least hold them back for there is little left to the forest anyway.

If you get it done today you should probably be fine. Any time after today is a significant risk.

Pressures on. I think I can manage. While we're on the subject though. Can I tae the Treesinger archetype even though I am not elf. It gives me a plant animal companion. And can I use the Oakling Ability modifiers? Since he is essentially a human dryad crossbreed it doesn't make since for him to loose dexterity and because of his plant-like few are willing to trust him immediately, or ever really.

*Edit on second thought I might get a domain. Neat stuff from plant and growth domains.

...Treesinger is fine (there doesn't appear to be anything elven about it, nor does it make use of any elf features).
Stick with the Seedling ability modifiers. He's been stuck in a tree for a large portion of his life, so he hasn't moved around a lot, so that reduced his movement and reflexes, hence the dexterity penalty (if you can come up with another reason he has a racial dex penalty you could use that too).

I am so following the whip mastery line and flavoring it as a thorny vine that grow from his hand. Or maybe a plant he carries. Going all Kurama on the enemies.

Finally, I have completed the background. Took me a while but here it is. I present Revion Telthanellyn, a Half-Elven Inquisitor.

Deranged Maniac Ben, I await your feedback. I will be proofreading and tweaking the writing as I see improvements to be made.

The crunch looks solid. Other than escaping from his house, is he hoping to accomplish anything in Sarlona? What is he afraid of?

I added a spoiler about his goals underneath the personality section. Take a look and tell me what you think. This should help to get a clearer picture of him. At times I forget to add it to my character aliases.

The only edits I plan to make are an expansion of Tatti's backstory if she's selected - everything else is good on my end. ^^

This is Zayne's character. Everything but the crunch is done. Still working though.

The formatting is messed up. I can sort of read it, but if you get in you'll want to reformat it.

Looks well done so far.

Deranged Maniac Ben, did you read my additions yet? Thoughts?

Checking in. Good luck all.

Mostly done. I didn't get any items cause I wasn't sure if that was addressed. Decided to go back to Oakling with the level adjustment added in just in case. If need be I can drop or trade something from the racial traits to get rid of the level adjustment. I intended him to be a more upfront fighter and the dex hit really hurt the build. That and he did come from an oak tree. I think that's it.

Most certainly. I haven't yet due to the large number of submissions. No point in prettying something up to have all that effort for naught.

The reason for doing so is that it makes it easier to judge your submission. Should you leave it messy it says volumes about how you feel about the game. Don't take not getting picked as a personal attack like so many do, treat it as a means to PM the GM and find out why you were not selected. Feedback is the key to making better submissions so you can get picked at some point.

I have seen many games I wanted to get in on but was passed over versus another character. When that happened, I continued to refine my efforts so GMs would pick me over another player. Trust me when I say that having a sharp, clean alias goes a long way, though it is but one of several factors considered. Being lackadaisical and showing such is one of the best ways to not make it in.

Just some things to think about.

Should be a go for final submission. Tweaked equipment a bit and cleaned up grammar, also caught I had put down hero points not action points.

Yes, I read it.

I'm reading through it now, but it is late where I am so I probably will announce who is in tomorrow. For gear, start with standard 3rd level WBL, spent on whatever items you want.

Actually its 1:00 AM here. My Tuesday is officially over. If I get picked I will add items. God luck everyone.

*nods in agreement* All valid points. I'm of the opinion that if my character idea was not enough to garner interest from the fluff and personality, it was not good enough from the beginning, and regard not being chosen as such an indicator.

The mechanics of it can be created and formatted very quickly given the number of programs out there, but I'm also counting on the evaluation of my style of posts-- through the Aliases that have pictures-- as well as the formatting that they have as well. I understand that the GM may want to look at the mechanics of the character so the block is there.. Though admittedly, that block is a bit more of a 3.5 style block... Huh. Thanks for pointing that out. I'll pull one of the other formats that PCGen offers.. Does PF even use those style of stat blocks, now that you've given me pause to look at it?

Rarely is any character I make-- that gets into a game-- similar to another that has been played. They may use the same alias, but that's just to cut down on Alias bloat. So to format the character as if it were in a game, just to have it languish because it was not picked is painful, since all that time went into a character that stopped just that much short of being realized.

However, this is not quite the place to have a discussion on what constitutes a "proper" submission, since that's somewhat a mutually agreeable thing. I appreciate that you've taken the time to point that out to me, now that I think about it, I'll start PMing the DMs if I don't get selected. It would be a good way to see what people are looking for. I definitely appreciate the DM giving us the chance to play in their playground. :)

Ditto.

Hi, I believe I owe you some info on Haazek. I'll get it all together in one spot later today.

background:

Haazek is a ghaal'dar of the Rhukaan Taash, and began his training much like anyone else in his cadre. However, early on he started exhibiting some unusual abilities. Once his superiors realized these were signs of psionic ability, he was taken aside, and began his tutelage with Virk'liik.

Virk'liik was a maan'dar, what the humans could only think to call a "blue." He looked maybe a week or two younger than Siberys, and while Haazek's first impression was poor, he rapidly learned the magnitude of his error. In addition to his psionic talents, rumor said that in his youth, Virk'liik had been one of the taarka'khesh, and he taught Haazek all he could of the ways of the silent wolf, and how to use those talents in conjunction with his mental abilities.

When his training was complete, Haazek was presented at Khaar Mbar'ost, his services directly offered to the throne on behalf of his tribe. There, one of the lhevka decided his talents would be perfect for a plan he had conceived, and thus did Haazek find himself bound for Sarlona.

Goals:

1. Complete the mission. Haazek has been given a task, and as a warrior of the Ghaal'dar, he has every intention of seeing it through.
2. Prove himself. Haazek has a bit of a chip on his shoulder. There is not a strong tradition of psionics among the ghaal'dar, and he wonders who besides Virk'liik knows what he is capable of (for instance, he suspects his services were offered to the throne mainly because his tribe had no idea what else to do with him).
3. "Oh, and while you're there..." Virk'liik has told Haazek of the Codex of Thaal Ruuk, a crystal slightly larger than a fist. While there might not be a strong tradition of psychic warriors in the present day, Dhakaani battleminds led by Thaal Ruuk played a vital role in stopping the invasion from Xoriat so many millennia ago. The Codex is lost to history, but Virk'liik suspects it has found its way to Sarlona, and has told Haazek to try and track it down.

Wasn't really feeling it the last 2 days. Will continue with some background in a bit. Don't think I have jotted down much of anything yet. In part because gnomes live for quite some time, and as such it's too much to discribe really. But also because to do it right I'd have to read through the Eberron books, and I haven't much been in the mood.

So yeah, not lackadaisical, just not in the right mindset. And seeing the expected length of the campaign to run, I figure no hurry.

All right, final decision time. To all those who didn't make it in, thanks for trying anyways.

Chaos of Sarlona Player Characters:
