Female Human Two-Weapon Fighter- 2/Rogue- 3

Charon puts the all the items but the personal affects in her haversack. She tosses a few coppers the mayors pocket and then moves toward the small desk in the corner. Noticing Nera through the door Charon says, "Nera, mayor is dead. With that cry we need to be quick, before we get more attention then we may want. I killed the shadow check out the mayor and see what you can find. I'll check the desk and see what I can find. We should try to get out quick though before townsfolk come."

Sleight of hand(slipping coppers): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Bluff: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
Perception(desk): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Female Elf (Forelorn) Blade-Bound Magus 5

I'm assuming Nera is in the same room as Charon so I've peeked at her previous spoilers. Feel free to Retcon anything that isn't plausible.

Perception check to notice Charon pocketing the coins;
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 (Nera)
1d20 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 4 (Walter)

Neither Nera nor Walter has high enough sense motive to see past her bluff so they take her word as fact.

Noticing that the shadow monster hasn't been effected by the daylight the gears in Nera's head turn. "Ah... yes well this is an opportunity I don't think we should pass up!" she stumbles "Quickly find me a bottle, jar, or anything that might hold that black ictor before more light fills the room and it burns away!" she quickly replies "If anyone wants to stop us from rummaging through the mayors effects they'll first have to stop us, but capturing some of that ictor might prove enlightening"

Nera fully intendeds to trap the ictor in a container and wrap it in cloth to block out the light. Later she will subject it to experiments involving varying degrees of light, spells, fire, cold, acid, and holy water, and drop a few bugs into the goo. To try and analyze the substance for any potential weaknesses/resistances.

Searching for some sort of container
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23 (Nera)
1d20 - 2 ⇒ (11) - 2 = 9 (Walter)

It is my assumption that we are headed to the closest door, most likely the front.

You were out front when it happened, as you mentioned that you were going around through the window completely ignoring the door you'd have had to circle around the house. You'd see the same things coming into the room but Charon would have a full round till you got there, you'll still see the same room but the things happening within while you're on your way in you don't.

That's going to be a little bit of a problem, if you don't have anything on hand I can't imagine there's going to be something perfect for this situation, there's an inkwell on the desk but those have narrow necks. If you do use the inkwell (pretty much the only container in this room) how do you get the ichor inside?

Charon Warblade wrote:

Digging through the desk you find a number of papers, most of them filed under various sections divided by littler markers. Complaints and Grievances, Taxes and Trade, Events and Holidays, and Town Registry. Leafing through these you find nothing out of the ordinary, closing that drawer you pull on the next one down and find it locked.

@Nera & Charon You hear footsteps outside the front door leading out into the town.

You're at the front door.

Ah no wine bottles, mugs, or jars with pereserved food?

Nera will grab whatever container she can find (pour our the conentents) then place it near the ichor on it's side. She then speaks in Draconic activating her ioun torch while still clutching it in her hand. She then opens her hand slightly to allow a beam of light and directs it in a sweeping motion towards the ichor leaving few places for it to go besides towards the open inkwell.

If it merely burns away or it doesn't work she'll take out a non-magical dagger and attempt to scape it into the inkwell if the ichor sticks to it she'll dangle the dagger above the inkwell before casting light on the dagger in hopes that it will slide off like Teflon and into the inkwell. If she recognizes that it slid off her magic weapon like teflon rather than having anything to do with light she can as a swift action make her non-magic dagger magically enhanced by burning up an AP while the ichor is stuck to it having a similar effect.

If the effort seems futile she'll gather up what she can on the body in the room and head for the office to see what Charon's discovered/flee from anyone who might be coming in the front door (i.e. she'll close the door to the office behind her).

Nera Turvian wrote:

Nope, happens to be an office. You'll manage to scrape up a portion of it, using the light to help you gather the black stuff is like trying to move around a piece of butter with a hot knife, it'll move you'll just lose a good portion of it getting it where want to go, as you close the stopper to the inkwell you swear the Ichor is bubbling angrily at you.

Female Elf (Forelorn) Blade-Bound Magus 5

Nera will take a quick 10 on her search check to grab up any items that remain on the dead body she found before rushing to Charon in the next room.

10 + 7 = 17

She closes the door behind her and then scans the room for anything heavy to wedge against the door (Bookshelf or another desk?) fearful of being caught breaking and entering. If the door has a simple looking lock she'll attempt to jam it with any writing utensils that may be near by if it the lock looks very complex or there isn't one she'll forgo that option.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

Perception Checks;
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 (Nera)
1d20 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1 (Walter)

"Ummmmm I found a few of the of the poor mans effects, but are we quite done trespassing here miss Charon?" Nera says quietly a look of fear in her eyes.

OOC @Charon: With masterwork thieves tools you can simply take a 10 on your disable device check as it takes the same amount of time as one skill check and it should pop a lock of a DC 25 or lower. It might be safer than rolling for it as a DC 25+ is likely to mathematically occur and a 25 covers both standard and simple locks.

Male Human Sorcerer 4th (Accursed bloodline)

Lugdro will open the door once they arrive allowing Dolelan and Legiald a chance to get into defensive positions before he does, provided it's not locked.

Okay, sorry Charon, I seem to have forgotten that ribcage is above the waist...meant below the neck.

In fact it is not locked, bursting through the door you see a dead man on the floor. His body below the NECK looks like he played the all you can eat buffet to some beastie. Small chunks of meat lay scattered on the floor around the corpse while a pool of thick red blood covers most the room's center. In your right hand corner as you enter the building you see one corpse that looks familiar, it seems to be another one of those animals after it has been slain and the black ichor has drained away.

Female Human Two-Weapon Fighter- 2/Rogue- 3

Charon quickly picks the lock on the desk to examine what is inside. To Nera, "Just a moment, I need to check what's in this desk."

You use your pick and feel the tumblers shift as you find the right place to position your pick. You feel the knowing click and turn the lock revealing a fat cloth sack and a leather folder with a number of papers.

Female Human Two-Weapon Fighter- 2/Rogue- 3

Charon sleight of hands the fat cloth sack and reveals papers to Nera.

Sleight of Hand: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28

Charon says to Nera, "Lets get out of here so we can see what's in these papers and before we catch too much notice. Let's use window just incase the person at front door is someone we don't know. Also, we're not trespassing. We're just concerned citizens, I heard a scream and had to kill the dog. He left that window open and these doors and desk unlocked as well. It's probably how the dog got in."

Knowledge (local) 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31: How is the town organized? Who is in charge with the mayor dead? Is there an assistant mayor? City council? Captain of the Guard?

Female Human Two-Weapon Fighter- 2/Rogue- 3

@Nera Charon is very tricky!

Charon darts out the window and motions for Nera to follow her away from building. She moves to closest non-busy area and then ruffles through her haversack. Charon seeming flustered says, "Give me just a moment I know it was here." After a few minutes of ruffling Charon pulls and envelope out of her bag and states casually, "I found some papers, not sure if they're worth looking at. But, I'd rather do so with someone like minded. Also, lets keep this to ourselves. I'm not liking Dolelan's reaction to the scene, I doubt he'll think fondly on how we came acrossed this... It's likely he'll get us both in trouble the next time."

@rosh When Charon is ruffling through her haversack, she'll quickly inspect what's in:(These items she will not share knowledge about unless she thinks it's important.)
1. A leather envelope (not sure envelope is the right word, think something like a bank bag with a small string and a nub to wrap it around and tie it closed)
2. A pouch about the size of your hand that's jingling.
and
3.fat cloth sack

(Leather envelope from desk she will willing give knowledge about to Nera.)

Female Elf (Forelorn) Blade-Bound Magus 5

Noticing the mayor's body had a odd lack of valuables on his person and a lack of finding the "big bag of gold" promised by the call for mercenaries. "Surely this couldn't be all you found?..... It's so very...odd....that a man of such stature wouldn't even carry around a coin-purse." (Working that 18 intelligence, the lack of a coin purse on the body being particularly strange.)

The city really isn't big enough to warrant a chain of command, there are a number of assistants that could step up and take his position but in the aftermath of the battle, everything is kind of scrambled, no one knows who survived and who perished.

1.

Nera:
The Envelope contains a number of letters, correspondence between the mayor and an official in Hobb, one of the larger towns up the river. It's a lot of Bureaucratic rigamaroll but the basic Jist of the conversation was the Mayor asking for additional guardsmen and the city replying that they don't have the men to spare. The mayor then asks for some money to put up a bounty and the last letter says the money is being sent by courier.

2. Peeking inside it's a good amount of gold coins. (if you count it out it's about 187 gold coins, this is most likely the town's payroll.

3. Glitter and shine the same color as silver but with a chrome sheen. There's a number of platinum coins in this sack and it feels heavier than the gold pouch.

Female Elf (Forelorn) Blade-Bound Magus 5

@Roshan:

Is there a date attached to the correspondence and if so does Nera know how far away Hobb is and how long it would take a courier?

After a few moments several of the people you recognize from the day before as adventurers wearily draw weapons and start off towards the house at a hustle.

Elven Archivist 5

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27

In the lack of any formal chain of command Dolelan will try to take control of the situation, "The mayor is dead, it looks like one of those beasts got in there with him. You two guard his office, make sure nobody goes in or out. The rest of you come with me. Without leadership the townsfolk don't stand a chance of being ready for sunset!"

Dolelan's going to try to rally the people of Bosh and get them to work with purpose. He'll try to organize teams to go house to house and bring survivors and supplies to the town center, prepare to build up a bonfire for tonight, and find someone competent to lead the people in the mayor's absence.

If the mules he bought yesterday are still alive, Dolelan will collect them and plan to set off for Jackal's Folly with the other adventurers who fought the shadows with him.

With Dolelan attempting to direct the armed individuals, Legiald chimes in. "There may be more hiding in the buildings, cowering from the sun. The mayor won't be the only one to be found with the shadow creatures lingering near them!"

Legiald looks to the 'guards', grim in expression and giving aid to Dolelan as he can as they move (assuming they get them to cooperate).

Quickly going through the building you think there might have been a struggle here, several drawers are pulled out and some are even overturned. A couple things are knocked over in the back office but the reception area is where most of the damage is, the body of the mayor is cold on the ground and there looks to be a fresh beast corpse in the corner. They carry the mayors body out to the street and bring him to the place where they're laying out the dead, a young woman has a basket of white sheets and is tearing them in half and draping them over the dead like funeral shrouds.

Looking around the three of you notice (Nera and Charon are off doing something else) that the people still alive and walking around are mostly the village-folk, the weapons they carry look to have been taken from the fallen heroes that helped defend the town and while they don't lack bravery, you can tell by the simple way that they hold the weapons that they wouldn't be much good in a real fight. Nonetheless they go door to door, collecting the wounded and taking account of who remains.

A couple hours into it no additional beasts are found, though there are reports of loud squealing from several buildings and alleyways as the sun rose higher into the sky. During this time one of the mayor's Aides is found, he was at home with his family and it seems that the shadows weren't able to get into his house, he seems like a mousey fellow however and doesn't seem like the kind of guy you'd want to follow in a catastrophe, he does provide a lot of insight however and any other measures you take to aid the town will be just a bit easier with his input and advise.

Female Human Two-Weapon Fighter- 2/Rogue- 3

@Nera: (sense motive check)You get a strong hint that Charon wouldn't give you the truth, even if she wanted too. At least, the full truth.

Frowning at Nera's accusations, "Your right. It is not all I found. I did find a coin purse with some gold and a envelope. The envelope tells of the mayor asking for money and help. I guess that money is being sent by a courier. Honestly, I hope to find the courier before he found out mayor was dead." Charon shrugs. " Perhaps we could find him and convince him to benefit us. Or at least release him of the bounty. "

Female Elf (Forelorn) Blade-Bound Magus 5

@Charon: Well that's distressing here's one more attempt at meta-gaming the rogue doesn't get a giant bag of platinum all to herself before I relatively wash my hands of it.

Nera's eyes narrow a bit at her confession of with holding the coin-purse found. "Well I...ummm...gathered some of that nasty black goo into a vial...and well I plan on running a few experiments on it later"

She takes a look at the notes and correspondence deducing what she can from the dates and Charon's behavior. "Are you sure you...didn't find...anything else?"

If Charon continues to with hold;

"You think that's appropriate" she whispers seemingly talking to her sword. "I....uhhhh....I...don't know....that could cause trouble." she continues seemingly talking to herself like a crazy person. "I know, I know I have to be more assertive..your right your right...fine but I won't like it.

Nera then grabs a pinch of dust from her spell component pouch and casts daze on Charon before thoroughly frisking her. (DC 14 will save negates)

As she continues to frisk Charon she mumbles in a panicked voice "Sorry, sorry it wasn't my idea."

I'll let the DM/Charon decide what Nera finds or roll for it if needed.

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens 20/Horizon Walker 10

Nera & Charon:
Both of you sense a bit of friction as Nera asks questions that make Charon more and more uncomfortable. As it begins to come to a head the Symbols etched into your skin begin to warm, at first it could be dismissed as lingering warmth from the sun but as the discussion intensifies the symbols begin to glow softly and become uncomfortably warm, not terribly bright in the daylight but clearly visible through your clothes.

Perception(glowing marks): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Charon glare reverts to the frown she had before. With the mark getting quite warm and seeming to be glowing on both their persons. Charon sleight of hands a dagger just in case of something going wrong. Charon doesn't give off the vibe that she's looking for a fight, although she does seem tense. She can't get a good read on this unpredictable woman, Charon bluffs, "I'll be happy to split the gold with you. Other then that. I've shown you all the stuff I managed to gain from his office. I'll be off now to find that courier. With or without you. I have a feeling we would be better to work together. It could be very profitable for both of us."

Elven Archivist 5

Seeing the townsfolk grasp swords and polearms with more desperation than competence, Dolelan spreads the word that their weapons will be torches. Everyone should work on building up supplies for the bonfires tonight and use everything from cooking oil to roofing tar to make enough torches to go around. If everyone has a torch ready to hand tonight and stays within a secured building or the light of a fire, Bosh might survive another night.

Is there a row of warehouses or other large buildings that might be sturdy enough to keep the shadows out while sheltering most or all of the townsfolk?

Perception on the slight of hand; (for the concealed dagger)
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13 (Nera)
1d20 - 2 ⇒ (5) - 2 = 3 (Walter)

Noticing Charon's voice becoming angry and and her slipping concealed dagger into her reach. Nera becomes even more curious. She does however decided to keep wWlter at a low level for now indicating she has no intention of harming Charon. (@Charon: your sense motive reveals Nera doesn't seem to wish to harm you in any way, but is quite suspicious of you due to owning up to your previous deception)

She worriedly starts to babble at noticing charon slip a dagger into her palm, "Come now Miss Charon...... I know it might be impolite to mention it seeing as you went through so much trouble to decieve me with your quick fingers.....but ummmm why are you angling for a dagger I assure you I have no intention of harming you... though I am curious as to why you find it necessary.....are you sure you're not hiding anything....anything you might stab a elf with a dagger over?" she continues slightly frazzled.

Sense motive (on Charon's bluff walter auto fails);
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 (Nera)

Nera believes you, but still thinks she should frisk you just to be sure. Since there's no harm in knowing. Plus drawing a dagger and the only locked drawer only containing some papers that may or may not indicate the bag-o-platinum should have already arrived is into the unlikely/far-fetched category of negative modifiers for a bluff check and I'm not sure if fessing up to a previous deception qualifiers for the additional -10 for further deceptions checks, though.

*See my last post where I daze Charon and frisk her*

Search check on Charon; (While she's dazed) unless GM interjects or I don't need to make the roll.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27

While Nera frisks Charon she continuously apologizes [*see above]. During brief moments where her frisking nears more intimate areas Nera's hand quickly jerks away as she quickly retorts seemingly to no one in particular "Shut up! Shut up! that's not funny!"

OOC on the interaction:

I'm actually enjoying the dynamic; my only complaint being that it's side-tracking the game a bit.

I'd feel remiss if I let the evil tricky rogue get away with bogart a giant portion of party resources/loot at least without a fight, but at the same time feel slightly strange about doing so either due to spoiling the rogues fun or because it requires slight amounts of meta-gaming.

OOC on the frisking:

RAW you can't perform the steal maneuver on a backpack anyways. It's questionable whether a frisking by RAW would turn anything up since the bag-o-platinum is inside a handy haversack. Nor are the rules clear on what happens when a person who's not wearing the handy haversack reaches inside to see whats inside.

One school of thought dictates that Charon pocketed the platinum with SoH, but never took the time to hide it on her body with SoH so a search check should auto turn it up unless handy haversacks are impervious to search checks in which case they're perfect for smugglers.

Even if you use both rolls for both actions Charon had to retrieve the bag-o-gold to know what was in it so it would call for one SoH roll to pull it out and look, another to hide it again, and yet another to do hide it on her persons.

I'm also unclear of who has possession of the bag-o-platinum under the pretense that Nera even finds it. I assume she's simply made aware of it and it remains in Charon's possession, but the rules are a bit unclear on that as well.

I'm personally fine with opposed reflexive SoH roll in opposition to my search check or simply letting the GM/Charon decide what happens in this instance. Provided Nera/Charon doesn't collapse from the mark warden punishing her for feeling up an ally.

I will however say that if she finds the bag and or somehow gains possession of it future plans include recalling vanish with an AP disappearing finding an odd location to bury the bag like a squirrel hiding nuts before casting arcane mark to find it later. Nor am I interested in any actual combat with Charon, but Nera will likely defend herself if things come to blows with a mixture of non-lethal lethal attacks to mitigate chances of unintended slaying or simply recall vanish and run away if things get dicey.

Female Human Two-Weapon Fighter- 2/Rogue- 3

@Nera and Roshan(frisking): I'm cool with searching, just by time you'd search my person and then find the haversack. Daze should be up. Also, You'd still have to be grabbed or attacked to search my person. Daze just makes you loose your action for that round. I'd still get my ac or cmd. It isn't a stunned affect, which would make me defenseless to it.
@Nera: Lol, I don't blame you. I'd be doing same if my character was that way.
Btw bag of gold is out, as with, the envelope.

If nothing is found:

Charon after the daze, "Nera, you may act the fool. But the next time you try that or cast any spell on my person. I will make sure it's the last one you cast. But, don't worry Walter will have a good place on my sword belt. Or maybe on a shelf." Charon puts away her dagger in a calm manner, but lays her hand on her swords. Charon sighs, "I think we should see what's going on with the others. I would like to tie up any loose ends I have before we kill each other. But, I do look forward to our duel." Charon dumps half the gold in the sack on the ground, "Here's your share. If you feel guilty about our venture into the mayors office, you can always split your half with the group. They weren't there so I'm not."

If haversack is taken or bag is found:
If Charon sees a spell being cast, she'll try to interrupt it with non-lethal force.
If the bag of gold is taken Charon will not care. She simply states,"Half of it is yours any way. I would have gladly give your half with out a struggle."

Charon after the daze, "Those item/s are mine and have been mine. I suggest you give them back or I will take them back." Charon flashes her magical rapier out in a defensive position with her dagger. You can see Charon is serious about the threat. Charon's lively-hood is in that bag, being most of her possessions.

You'd get a good idea of the basic layout of the town after the couple hours you and the people who answered your call spend searching for more shadow creatures. There are a couple warehouses near the river but none the size required to hold the amount of people you have in townsquare at the moment. You could fit about 50 people into each of them if you lay the wounded down onto the ground but that's cramming people into there. There are about 200 people in townsquare right now counting wounded and able-bodied.

Yea, it doesn't completely paralyze you, it just prevents you from taking any active action. It's kinda like walking into a room and then forgetting why you came into that room. You can still defend yourself though.

The search roll is fine but daze doesn't completely prevent her from defending herself, she'll seem a bit confused and unaware but if you get close and try to put your hands on her she'll still be able to vaguely get a notion that somethings wrong and push you away. (i.e grapple check to basically get a handle on her enough to do a quick search)

Arrrg a grapple check? *Checks Charons CMD, 90% failure rate* >_<

Grapple Check;
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

*Assuming Failure or Charon doesn't simply let Nera frisk her*

Nera looks dejected, "Sorry about that ummmmhhmm.... Miss Charon... anyways would you mind letting me frisk you....... or um check your magical backpack (Detect Magic earlier should have revealed it)... just to be sure about such matters.....I'll gladly allow you to do the same if you wish."

Diplomacy;
1d20 - 2 ⇒ (15) - 2 = 13

*upon hearing Charon's comments*

Self imposed BB-Ego Will Save:

DC 6;
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21

Walter cracks with arcane power seeming to scoff at the threat while the subities of Charons words fly completely over Nera's head. (She's a little dense)

Looking confused "Why I'm no fool.... I mean I'd like to think I'm pretty smart....hmmmmm....nope I'm smart... you must be mistaken miss Charon." again quite puzzled she stammers "I hardly see how it would be my last spell cast.....I'm pretty good at casting spells" she continues cheerily.

*Assuming Charon declines a search*

She continues rambling "Yes I do think we should find out what the others are up to....but I don't think you have anything to fear of me killing you or something.....you're not a monster are you? Nera does a quick inspection. "Nope not a monster no need for killing" she replies quite seriously.

After a single minute passes while they walk Nera will cast daze a 2nd time and attempt to search Charon again.

OOC: in fact Nera will continue to do so every minute seeing as she can do this indefinitely. I think take a 20 applies in this situation, unless Charon decides to attack or something. So unless combat ensues or something changes Nera will follow Charon like a timid squirrel dazing, grapple+search+apologizing, then repeating the task unless allowed an opportunity to put the matter to rest (via a search check; which she'll take a 20 on).

Quick Math: If repeated enough times it should take roughly 5 hours to on average daze Charon, pass a grapple check, and roll a 20 on a search check. It's till early in the morning and Nera doesn't have anything to do till lunch.

As you close in on her to search her person she pushes your hands away.

I don't recall you mentioning a Detect Magic for a while, at least not since the night before. It requires you to maintain concentration when using it. (Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong)

I don't think Charon would put up with it enough for you to roll 20 times though that's up to her, lets see how she responds.

Roshan wrote:

Yeah, but considering Charon's backpack and everyones possesions that are magical where present the night she cast detect magic. She would have observed it's aura.

Granted I you said we didn't detect anything, that that's why in my post I said: "she casts detect magic scanning the room for anything obviously not one of her fellow cohorts possessions."

I probably could have rolled spell-craft checks to identify every item in the room that was magical, but I didn't. I'm assuming it's enough to know that the backpack gives off a magical aura to know that it's "magical backpack" Nera has no clue of it's specific qualities or anything, but she should know it's magical. Even if she doesn't it literally has no effect it was mostly just for RP.

I was incorrect in my earlier stuff on time it would take. Correction 85% failure rate and it would take just under 4 hours to continuously daze and succeed on both a grapple and take a 20 on a search check.

However the dazing is mostly just for fun, as I could cut that time down to 14 minuets if I forgo dazing and instead simply make a grapple check every round (6 seconds) and a search check. That would open up an AoO, though and I'm not sure I'd want to give Charon that on the off chance she gets a bit staby staby over it.

So to keep things simple after 45mins she'll tire of dazing Charon and simply frisk her without the prep-work. If Charon can handle being targeted with daze 45 times than she deserves the AoO :p.

Roshan wrote:

Of course not there are only a few outcomes I can see from this:

a)Charon gives up and allows a search (unlikely)
b)Charon runs we have the same base land speed a chase ensues with a crazy elf screaming 'Stop she's stolen all the mayors gold!'
c)A fight ensues in which case drawing weapons or the fact that I dazed her and have acted with a grapple check allows for standard rolling for initiative. Infernal Healing + Vanish used for a safety net in case Charon starts to win.

Female Human Two-Weapon Fighter- 2/Rogue- 3

Diplomacy check would be: 30(Charon is unfriendly, secrete knowledge)
Sense motive(Nera): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9
Perception(sword crackling):1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7(assuming I seen it)

Charon scowls at the mere request to allow Nera to frisk her. Charon looks Nera in the eyes to get a read on her intentions. Charon doesn't trust Nera. At the mere mention of frisking each other, after she cast that spell, Charon is almost enraged. Either way, this will end here.

Charon seeing sword crackle:
She notices the sword crackle with energy. Charon is starting to realize there is more to the sword then she thought. Maybe this Walter as Nera calls him is controlling her. Charon decides walk with Nera, but quickly changes her mind.

Charon almost growls as swings the blades coldly at Nera.

Assuming she's flatfooted. Nera's ac is 17 if not 22.
First Strike(magical rapier): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22 (mod changed for light off hand)
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6+(1d6 ⇒ 3) only use second die if flatfooted.
Second strike(dagger): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Init for next round if needed:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13

With blood on her blade, Charon states, "If you continue this pursuit, I will end your life Nera. Surely, Walter can see the problem in that. I am a monster and I will kill if I must."

Charon will use combat reflexes to attack if Nera casts. If Nera uses sense motive: 1. Charon doesn't look like she wants to fight, just protect her possessions. 2. Blow was most likely a warning. 3. She doesn't like Walter.
>_< Scary enough bag of platinum not even cause of this. Haversack is what Charon is protective about. Although funny as hell we just walked away from 97 gold back there on the ground.

Female Elf (Forelorn) Blade-Bound Magus 5

Fighty Stuff:

I'm assuming drawing a weapon and/or the fact that Nera Dazed you and acted in the round by performing a grapple check/search check counts as 'acting' preventing Flat-Footed-ness and such. I also hardly see how doing something that held a likely chance for a fight occurring doesn't qualify for standard rolling of initiative when combat begins.

I also assume picking up gold given to you isn't something you need to blatantly declare in game. Much like breathing or keeping your eyes open. As surprise round shouldn't occur when a creature is blatantly aware of another creature as per standard rules however if Charon was hidden with stealth or invisibility or Sleight of handed her weapons while appearing non-threatening that might be subject to change.

Initiative;
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

Viewing standard rules Nera shouldn't be flatfooted as each grapple check/dazing is considered an act in combat. Charon acts first anyways after the dazing/grapple, but doesn't get Sneak attack nor Nera's FF AC if I'm not mistaken unless otherwise noted by the GM.

I'm assuming at the start of round 1: 6 damage is taken from first strike none from the second.

@Charon if you're currently online we can speed this combat along really quick since we don't have to wait for posting times

Nera yelps Walter still in hand as Charon lashes out at her with her blade cutting her. "Oh dear....I'm afraid we're going to have our duel....so soon.... I'll try not to kill you" she says both shocked and confused.

Nera uses spell combat to attack with Walter before taking a 5-foot step back and casting Mirror Image.

Attack vs Charon;
1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (3) + 8 - 2 = 9

(5-foot-step out of reach between full-attack) (Free action)

(Swift action) Recalling Shocking grasp as a spell prepared 1 AP.

(Casting Mirror Image as part of full attack) (No AoO's since I'm not threatened.)

Walter seemingly moving on it's own clumsily lashes out at charon missing as Nera hops backwards and with an snap of her fingers and an arcane sizzle suddenly there are 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Five Nera's to deal with. Each attack you roll a d5 Nera is the highest number. If you attack a Mirror it's AC is 17 a hit destroy it if you attack Nera and miss but roll over a 17 another image is destroyed if you hit Nera no images are destroyed.

Fight:
I should be for another 5-10. Also do you have any spell failure with the armor your wearing?
Charon scowls and grimices at the 5 new Nera's.
Round 2:
Charon swings at two Neras'.
[ooc]
Target 1:1d5 ⇒ 1
Magical Rapier: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
&
Target 2:1d5 ⇒ 5
Dagger: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6

Female Elf (Forelorn) Blade-Bound Magus 5

Fighty Stuff:

Nope; Mitheral armor counts as light for that purpose and Magi ignore ASF for light armor.

Nera will continue to Spell-Combat:

Attack vs Charon; (As part of full attack)
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

5-Foot step back between attack and casting (Free Action)

Recalling Infernal Healing for 1 AP. (Swift action)

Nera Casts Grease on the area Charon is in without obscuring her own path. (DC 15 reflex save or fall prone) if you pass it should count as difficult terrain so you can't 5-foot step through it requiring a move action with an acrobatics check of 10 if moving at half speed and thus no full attack next round. (As part of full attack)

Female Human Two-Weapon Fighter- 2/Rogue- 3

Fight:
Cool cool
Round 3:
Reflex:1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26
Target 1:1d4 ⇒ 3
Magical Rapier: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Dives from the grease to Nera. Charon swings at one Nera.

Acro check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26

Female Elf (Forelorn) Blade-Bound Magus 5

Fighty Stuff:

Another image pops out of existence Nera is now a 3 on a d3.

Again with the spell-combat;

Attack vs. Charon; (Full-Attack)
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

5-foot step back as a free action between attack and casting (Free Action)

Casting Infernal healing on Nera (Free action)
Nera picks up Fasting healing 1 for 10 rounds. So 1 HP per round.

Charon should currently be standing in the last square in grease's radius if she moved directly towards Nera. It was a DC 10 Acrobatics check to move towards Nera last round but honestly it's a 1/20 chance to fail that so I'll assume she auto-passes, but moving out of the square still counts as difficult terrain so it denies full attack again.

Female Human Two-Weapon Fighter- 2/Rogue- 3

Fight:
Without a map hard to say. But she would of went diagnal out of grease.(I did roll one up there just as you posted)
Round 4:
Target 1:1d3 ⇒ 3
Magical Rapier: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Damage: 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Target 2:1d3 ⇒ 1
Dagger: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5

Charon slides 5 up to Nera keeping away from the grease and swings at two seperate images

Female Elf (Forelorn) Blade-Bound Magus 5

Fighty stuff:

Geometrically it's totally possible for her to have moved through the grease anyways so yeah she full attack away.

Nera takes damage 5 heals 1 and no images poof. Nera is still a 3 on a d3;

Taking damage knowing that things are about to become serious Nera Will use spell-combat/spell-strike to attack with shocking grasp.

Concentration Check to cast defensively; (DC 17)
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22

Attack vs Charon w/ BB-using Spell-Strike to deliver Shocking Grasp;
1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (19) + 8 - 2 = 25
1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (7) + 8 - 2 = 13 (To confirm Crit [fail :(])
Damage: 1d6 + 6 + 4d6 ⇒ (3) + 6 + (3, 2, 5, 2) = 21

Regular Attack;
1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (5) + 8 - 2 = 11

Free action to 5-foot step back as normal;

Nera Casts shocking grasp defensively as arcane power flows through her body Walter bursts with crackling electricity her blade strikes true slicing into Charon and releasing an arching of lightening through her body.

Charon takes 21 Damage.

Female Elf (Forelorn) Blade-Bound Magus 5

Correction on Mirror Image:

I messed up In fact Nera should have been a 6 on a d6 originally. I'll chalk that up to whatever as retconning stuff would be a pain and it was my fault for not paying close attention.

From now on she's a 4 on a d4.

Male Human Oracle of the Heavens 20/Horizon Walker 10

ugh, I was in the middle of posting and now theres a bunch of new posts. It's getting late so I'll go through them when I get up in the morning.

Lacking the cool battle description thats a few rounds out of touch, what basicly happens is as you continue your hostilities towards each other it eventually gets to the point where the burning beneath your neck becomes absolutely unbearable, it sears the flesh and your mind shudders as it remembers the sigil being inscribed into your skin.

Female Elf (Forelorn) Blade-Bound Magus 5

Hah! I was enjoying the fight to be perfectly honest. Nothing a wand of infernal healing can't fix. If the mark becomes unbearable enough to stop the fight that's fine, but personally I'm interested in letting it play out if that's alright :P. I just need to know what round that occurs so I can fix my Spells expended/AP/HP list if you rule that it ends prematurely.

The whole event will likely intrigue Nera to the point where she's sure Charon is hiding a big-bag-o-money. So this event could easily happen over and over again I'd prefer to just get it out of the way currently rather than deal with the hassle of the possibility of it ever coming up again.

In any case here's Nera's next actions in the fight if it continues (I do believe it would bring the fight to a close unless Charon does something completely out of character ripe with meta-gaming and decides to go for a grapple check (Provokes AoO), which would be weird or somehow manages to crit with both attacks and knock Nera unconscious (Charon killing her outright is impossible even with two crits and max damage, and highly statistically improbable for her to even knock her unconscious.)

Fighty Stuff (Should be the last one if the fight is allowed to continue for another 6 seconds, or Charon gets crazy lucky since she still gets 1 more act.):

Concentration Check to cast Arcane Mark Defensively; (DC 15)
1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

First Attack (Regular);
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Delivering AM through Black blade for an extra attack;
1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 8 - 2 = 23 (Crit Threat)
1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (14) + 8 - 2 = 20 (Crit Confirm [pass])

Damage: 1d6 + 1d6 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (6) + (5) + 6 + 6 = 23

Charon takes 23 Damage and that totals for 44 dropping her to -4 making she gains the unconscious condition and starts and dying condition.

On her next turn Nera will attempt to stabilize Charon (DC 15 heal check)
1d20 ⇒ 9
1d20 ⇒ 18 So on the 2nd turn of unconsciousness she becomes stable so she gets 2 of her own checks if she fails both she still only loses 1 more hp putting her at -4/-5 but stable.

It's a DC 14/15 constitution check for her to become conscious every hour after her first hour unconscious. After which without any healing she has the Disabled condition.

After the fight Nera will take most of Charon's things(Leaving only her armor).

She'll take all of her stuff and run off somewhere bury it like a squirrel and cast arcane mark to find the location later (presumably after Charon promises not to immediately try to kill her) if she finds the bag-o-platinum she'll separate it from the rest of her gear and bury it in a separate location with another arcane mark to note where it is.

Before leaving Charon to become conscious she'll leave a note stating:

"Sorry about ruffing you up, but in all fairness you did attack me first. I took most of your things if you want em back come find me, I'll also heal your wounds if you like. I'll be around.

With love,
Nera

P.S. - Walter says if you ever try to hurt me again he'll make sure you suffer a great deal

P.P.S. - Walter is a little brash I'm sure he didn't mean it.

P.P.P.S. - Correction, He insists he means it.

If at any point anyone tries to stop her she'll simply recall vanish cast it and do all of the above except she'll be invisible. (None of the actions she takes would dispel invisibility and her actions would likely take less time than the spells duration)

Personally I'd prefer if it ended as above. It solves the issue of the bag-o-platinum so it'll never come up again and allows both of our characters to have a fun little duel which was referenced to probably occurring at the start of the game. Otherwise this missing bag-o-platinum will become a re-occurring theme that honestly I'm not really interested in wasting a whole lot of time over.

It should work out to define Nera an Charon's relationship a little better as well. Plus Nera wins and the party gets to split whatever loot evenly, which is always nice.

Future encounters of the same nature can easily be resolved with investing in a wand of knock and avoiding letting the rogue near shiny things.

Female Human Two-Weapon Fighter- 2/Rogue- 3

Charon staggers at the shock delivered from the sword. Feeling if her legs don't want to move between the shock and burning in her neck is too much to bare. Sadly still seeing 4 Nera's and perhaps a few more. Charon knows she's losing this.
Charon seeing her lack of options tumbles past Nera and runs around the corner of the building. Using the concealment of the corner and items around the building, Charon tries to hide herself.

Acrobatics Check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29 (well past nera's cmd)
Stealth: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (19) + 12 = 31
@Nera: I wish you would of waited to post last part. Charon's odds of hitting the actually you are 25%. Provided fact that you are more then half(I think) and just blasted her face off. Charon character would run and try to catch you later. She's not interested in dying over a argument nor taking another blast like that.(Although it would make her really want Walter)
Although you still have chance to catch me and do the same.
@Rosh: If marks stop us before hand at any point let us know when.
on another note:
I'm interested to see parties interaction with the town when they find out what happen. Should have an interesting dynamic. Or if they find out. I'm unsure of Charon's reactions. Anyhow off to work, I'll try to keep up post while I'm there.

They don't stop you from acting in the literal sense, it'll just require a DC 12 fortitude save to continue Hostile Action to push back the intense pain.

Personally, I don't like pvp, I've had some really bad experiences with it and the only time it's come up is where rl issues leak into the game. I'm not saying it's a bad thing, just that it makes me uncomfortable. Though do not mistake the marks for me trying to cut in on your action, I'm trying to be your storyteller not your mediator, I had planned a number of things that the marks do and this happened to be one of them.

Female Human Two-Weapon Fighter- 2/Rogue- 3

Really? So it doesn't end >_< *head-desks*

You're not considered hidden until you move around the corner of the building. So Nera can blatantly see you run around a corner, but you're really stealth-ed up till she gets to the other side of the corner, in which case you lose your concealment and your stealth check doesn't count for anything (unless you had Hide In Plain Sight).

You should get a surprise round (1 Standard action) as Nera comes around the corner Nera won't carelessly move to where Charon will be able to attack outright without Charon needing to charge in the surprise round to get to her. So she get's one attack at +2 plus her standard act after the surprise round is over. Nera shouldn't be considered flat-footed since she's still considers herself to be in combat. I'm pretty sure this trick won't work more than once, though. (Otherwise mechanically Charon would be able to kill Balor, by simply playing ring around the rosey.)

(Total Defense +4 to AC) Standard Action

Move around the corner where Charon is. (Move Action)

Talk (Free Action)

Nera readies her blade in a defensive posture as she follows Charon. As she's moving she calls out, "Miss Charon please don't leave.... I promise not to hurt you if you stop trying to kill me....we'll call the duel a draw.....I will however continue my efforts to search you, I promise not to take anything that is yours."

Nera should see you after she rounds the corner. If combat continues simply refer to my last post for resolve of combat. Unless something changes.

I'm not inherently opposed to pvp I'd prefer advancing the story over a continuous struggle over a bag-o-platinum (either through combat or constant skill checks and investigation), but far too much has occurred over the issue for Nera in character not to be insatiably curious of what Charon is hiding. She won't initiate pvp, but she's chaotic and doesn't really observe bounds of personal space or comfort when it comes to eliminating possibilities via scientific method, she's not immoral or anything just socially aloof.
