Heavy Hand Gauntlet (0 charge remain):
This seemingly normal right handed light plated gauntlet weighs a surprising 5 lbs. Inscribed on the face of it is "a Heavy Hand and Heart". Upon activation by command ("Heavy", "Hand", or "Heart"), the wearer benefits from Divine Favor for 1 minute. 3 charges a day. The gauntlet is cursed. When 3 charges are used within 5 minutes, the curse takes hold. It then cannot be removed without a Remove Curse or similar spell. From the joints of the gauntlet, a bloody ooze seems to seep out constantly, and the wearer feels 75 lbs heavier, as though from within. The gauntlet continues to function, but imposes a -1 to saves vs fear while Divine Favor is in effect. The curse may be removed by dousing with holy water while in a tranquil meditation.

Wild Empathy (Ex)- +6. A ranger can improve the initial attitude of an animal. To use wild empathy, the ranger and the animal must be within 30 feet of one another under normal visibility conditions. The ranger can also use this ability to influence a magical beast with an Intelligence score of 1 or 2, but he takes a –4 penalty on the check.

Appearance:
A dark grey hooded cloak loosely covers most of his equipment barring a greatsword, composite bow and quiver set on the back of his shoulders. Covering his chest, a smooth breastplate reflects a dim blue hue, small ornamental engravings near the waist and neck rims. Dark leather boots reach up to his knees, the rest of his legs covered in black cloth. Sleeveless, only leather guards are strapped to his arms, right hand covered by a gauntlet wrapped once with a bandage. His arms have mild bulk that oppose the thin features of and face. Roughly shaved, shoulder length dark brown hair swept back and loose, light skinned with pale brown eyes, and small scar over the side his left brow, he looks modestly clean for the role. His voice is clear and commanding, yet softer than that of a typical soldier.

Backstory:
Legiald Galsaran had lived near the edge of society nearly all his life. Despite having rarely left sight of his hometown until his mid-teens, he spent nearly all his time outdoors. The open miles surrounding the town gave him plenty to explore, and rarely found it dull. Sometimes, he was alone, but more often he brought others with him. In truth, he was only looking out for himself. The youth of the town ran unattended due to the lack of a town guard. He became a bully- and did well, considering his poor constitution. In the following years, the town both irked and appreciated his roving. On one hand, he helped keep real trouble down by keeping the town safe from wandering creatures. On the other, he roughed up even some of the militia after they brought him justice for his somewhat out of line behavior. Eventually, the town had enough of him when he injured one of his 'friends' in a fight. Although he was officially forgiven, perhaps in thanks for the good he did, the truth was that he wasn't welcome anymore in the eyes of his peers. The decision to leave came soon after.

He traded everything for a sword and bow from the militia and took to the wilds. There was no plan and no goal- he did only what was natural to him. Survival was easy enough, if only due to luck. He hardly ever thought of it. Once in a while, he would return to society, trading a few baubles for a night of relaxation. One night, though, he got swept up as part of a mob looking for vengeance upon a band of bugbear. He didn't care for the people who suffered, he just found the bard's plea rousing enough to lend a hand. Luck struck him again, and it was his blows and lead that ultimately defeated the creatures where the bard had fallen before him. His victory earned a substantial reward, marking the true beginning of his adventuring days. He had a reputation again.

Legiald never worked alone. He always split his earnings, and honored his agreements. But he looked for trouble- tried to stir it up, to see what came to the surface. Often he pressured others into helping, even when unnecessary. It was soon after he attained his magic bow that he met a monk of Irori and went to solve another mystery. More accurately, he had one disagreement after another with him the entire way. To his initial chagrin, not realizing he was a monk, he could not convince him of a single thing, while time and again he was left befuddled. During this time, Legiald was given, and subsequently cursed, by the Heavy Hand Gauntlet. The monk helped remove the curse and parted with a lecture. His words left an impact- he began to change. There was more to life than reputation and idle enjoyment. The long road of self perfection opened up, and he decides to take it. Now wandering again, he heard about the shadows to the west...
