Nemrok Blacktusk |
In Draconic We have no need for this caves except for the knowledge they exist and where they lead. Do you know if any of them lead to the surface of do they only go deeper to your land ?
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
Auriferous |
Auri does her best to help Nemrok, nodding at what she hopes is the right time, while looking like she has no long term interest in the cave.
diplomacy aid: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Nemrok Blacktusk |
Of course, the one we came in. But the caves on the other side is claimed by another tribe. Nevertheless this river seems a good frontier for both side.
They allowed us safe passage to explore their part of the caves.
Could you do the same ? asked Nemrok
GM Baerlie |
"If you are not interested in claiming the caves beyond this tunnel for yourself, you may pass." the kobold says.
The other kobol answers "Why do you do that? Are you the boss? What if they are lying. Do you really think they are not interested in dark passages, rocks and mud? Ther is nothing better on earth!"
After a few minutes of arguing and some hits on their heads from each other they finally step aside and let you pass.
Auriferous |
Auri also follows with an unusual nod of thanks to the kobolds.
"I hope they are not luring us into a trap..."
GM Baerlie |
The kobolds continue to fight while you slip into the tunnel. They don't follow you. You travel up the tunnel to the east and begin to hear faint sounds of combat and a familiar woman's voice half-shouting and half-reciting. "As the legendary Gregaro Voth successfully battled the wild beasts in the deepest reaches of the Mwangi Expanse, so shall I defeat you, foul servant of Lamashtu!" Janira Gavix is engaging the minotaur in combat on the surface after failing to lose the unrelenting creature in the wilderness.
The route to the surface leads through a maze of tight passages that include steep ascents and short climbs as they wind from west to east. You can hear the sounds of a distant battle echoing through the caves, intermixed with inspirational tales of famous Pathfinders and the heroic deeds.
After a maze of tunnels you reach a wider passage again, but the passage is blocked by a young gelatinous cube.
1d6 ⇒ 2
Auriferous |
"What is that thing?" asks Auri, fingering her sword in a slightly nervous manner.
"It looks like I can cut it... but would that even hurt it.. or just make it twice as active..."
She moves to the front and readies an action to strke it if it comes close.
"Let us learn the lesson from the skeletons. Form up on me, then many of us can strike it together if it comes close... if it can even fit down that passageway."
readied attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
readied damage: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 3) + 6 = 12
GM Baerlie |
Hádanka knows that the creature is a young gelatinous cube. It is immune to electricity and ooze traits. It is able to engulf creatures and if hit by a gelatinous cube you might get paralyzed by its anesthetizing slime. If attacked it can be destroyed like every other creature.
It's a young cube so it's a size smaller than a normal one. I updated the map.
PFS CORE - Hádanka |
Don't let it touch you, they can paralyze. Don't bother with electricity or mind attacks. Most other things work. Hammer it from range before it gets to us!

While you take position Galton and Hádanka shoot sling stones at the cube. Only Hádanka's stone hits the transparent creature, you can still see the stone in it.

"b]Let us see if the jelly had picked up anything..[/b]" she adds poking through the mass and searching around the area for any signs of treasure.

"Of course you are right. I don't know what came over me" says Auriferous with a little blush. Grasping her sword she takes the lead again, looking for a way back to the surface.
GM Baerlie |
Once you reach the eastern end of this area, they notice a faint light at the end of the tunnel. In addition, the sound of Janira’s oration is close and clear. Reaching the surface involves traversing only another 120 feet of somewhat slick tunnels.
The light of the surface world above provides a welcome reprieve from the blue and green fungus of the caverns below, and light illuminates a stream whose water is hastened by runoff from a recent storm further up the mountains. A ledge to the west rises up to the nearby forest canopy.
You emerge from the caverns into a 40-foot clearing at the base of the Kortos Mounts. The full moon above casts provides dim light over the entire area, bright enough to illuminate even the shaded leaf litter beneath the trees. These patches of woodland are also filled with underbrush that behaves as light undergrowth, creating difficult terrain and concealment. green = light undergrowth, brown = grass and mud
The stream is about 10 feet wide and 5 feet deep in this area, and the water moves downstream from east to west at 30 feet per round. rough water, which requires a DC 15 Swim check to navigate
A 3-foot-diameter tree truck spans the width of the river, creating an impromptu bridge. The trunk is slippery from the splashing water. crossing it at half speed requires a successful DC 7 Acrobatics check
The slope to the west gradually rises to a height of 20 feet. creatures standing at its highest point benefit from both a commanding view of the battlefield and a clear vantage point for ranged attacks
Nearly 100 feet from the cave’s entrance, Janira Gavix is locked in combat with her relentless minotaur foe in a clearing on the southern bank of the stream. "You vile beast! I know not what drives your black heart, but I shall not fail in my duty. I shall see you driven from this forest, back to the hills from whence you came!" Janira shouts.

Hadanka rushes forward. Chew your cud someplace else you fat cow!
He then sends a stone hurling toward the beast.
