Skulls and Shackles, set to a steady pace by a new DM!

Right then! Here's where we'll post all of our thoughts and things, and what-so-ever occurs - generally kept OOC, of course.

I, again, reiterate that this is my first time with a PbP at the helm, and urge some form of patience - that said, I'm here to have fun, and make sure we all have fun as we tell this deadly and daring tale!

The gameplay thread will be placed soon after I've made my decisions, which will be those who are directed here. Chime in once you've found out you're in, please!

If you also still have any questions, feel free to put them here!

I'm here! Thank you for picking me, I apologize if my rp before was inappropriate I'm new to Paizo's pbp etiquette.

Oh no, it's quite fine! I don't mind a hair of it, but I had to go digging through it to find four of the applicants, and it became a chore to go over character sheets when they are in between every post.

That said, we've three of five, and I'll put the first post so we can be started later this morning as I haven't slept yet. I promise you, we'll be havin' a good ol' time soon enough, and I promise you all the piratin' you can live for.

I suppose the only thing left to do now, is wait for our last two intrepid heroes. Cheers!

THE GAUDET FAMILY PIRATING SONG
(Tempo: rollicking)

When pirates sail the seas, we can do whatever we please.
We'll attack yer ship and overpower yer crew.
Taking every coin and jewel, we can be so mean and cruel!
And here's some things that pirates often do:
We cut ya in two. We run you thru!
When we pirates take to pirating today.
We're sinking all yer boats, stealing everything that floats.
We cut ya in two, run ya thru. Sink yer boats, steal what floats.
Put all yer best in the treasure chest, and then we sail away.

We dug for buried treasure, since I stole a treasure map.
My kids brought up the treasure chest, and set it in my lap.
I had to use a chisel just to break off all the locks.
We tossed away the treasure and we all fought for the box!
We started a brawl, with swords and all.
When we found a buried treasure box today.
We can always find more gold, but the box looked rare and old!
We dug up the box, broke the locks. Threw out the gold, the box was old.
We all fought our best for that treasure chest, and then we sailed away.

Now I'd like to introduce ya to the crew upon my boat.
Though on land they're sweet as sugar, they get mean when we're afloat.
And there's really very little that these pirates wouldn't do.
Our fun is paid exclusively by boaters just like you!
My pirating crew, is family too,
And we have our eyes on all you prize today.
We're sinking all yer boats, stealing everything that floats.
My pirating crew is family too. We have our eyes on all you prize.
We'll put all yer best in our treasure chest, and then we sail away.

Jason's our youngest pirate, he seems like a normal kid.
But today's his first day pirating, and this is what he did:
He snuck aboard a sailing ship, then leapt from where he hid.
Well, what took place this morning is enough to blow yer lid!
He cut up the crew, and cooked ‘em too!
On his first day out a-pirating today.
They were quite a smelly bunch, but with bread made quite a lunch!
He cut up the crew, cooked ‘em too. Made a smelly bunch into our lunch.
Then threw all their best in the treasure chest, and then we sailed away.

Now Jessica is beautiful, she's always been a joy.
But she only took to pirating to find herself a boy.
She climbed up on the mast today, and shouted, "Guys ahoy!"
She's not the greatest pirate, but at least she isn't coy!
The guys turned and ran, as fast as guys can.
As our pirate ship came sailing in the bay.
Then they drove off in their car because they know how pirates are!
She wanted a boy, and shouted, "Ahoy!"
The guys turned and ran as fast as guys can,
So Jessica just stuck out her tongue at them, and then we sailed away.

Myrtle the shrimp does night watch, but she's not so good at all.
For she's forced to live in water, and her eyes are very small.
When the ship gets firmly grounded in the mud or in the sand,
She softly squeaks her warning, which cannot be heard by man!
She cries her alarm, She warns of harm,
But we cannot hear a thing she has to say.
And despite the skills we taught ‘er, she can only work in water.
She cries her alarm, she warns of harm. We haven't heard a single word.
We wait for the tide, then off we slide, and gladly sail away.

Grant Junior is our first mate, and he's proved the best of mates,
Why, he fought his way to heaven, and he stole the Pearly Gates!
Now the heavens are wide open. When our dying day is due,
We'll simply steer for heaven, and we'll sail the ship right thru!
Our best of mates, stole the Pearly Gates!
When we pirates took to pirating today.
We're sinking all yer boats, stealing everything that floats!
Our best of mates stole Pearly Gates,
We've rigged them now as anchor weights,
If we don't like it when we're in heaven, then we'll simply sail away.

My loving mom is a pirate too, now forcibly retired.
Because they caught her after her Pirate's Permit had expired.
She couldn't get a new one, and she took it pretty rough.
The county clerk said, "Sorry, but you aren't cruel enough."
My mom is sad. They did her bad. So she isn't out a-pirating today.
With no permit in her hand, she's been forced to stay on land.
No permit in hand, she stays on land. The county clerk won't let her work.
She's there on the sand, I wave my hand, and then we sail away.

But the cruelest living pirate is my ‘tender loving wife.'
If I dare to argue with her, she'll come at me with a knife!
And a compliment each hour is her very strict demand.
The few times I've forgotten is why I'm a ‘holey' man!
She'll cut me in two. She'll run me thru!
If she doesn't every minute get her way.
And I tell her she is sweet, or she'll leave me like ground meat.
She'll cut me in two, run me thru. I flatter my wife to preserve my life.
With a tender sound I can calm her down, and live to sail away.

FINALE (first four lines sung slowly)

We are the only pirates left who plunder on the sea.
Pirating's out of fashion, now we have democracy.
Pirates'll go where the looting's good, the jobs they've all selected,
Are the Senators and the Congressmen. Only pirates get elected!
They're plundering too. They plunder you!
So they've swapped their swords for politics today.
The last pirates still afloat, are the ones here on this boat.
Now pirates are few, just me and you. So climb aboard and grab a sword.
At sea it's more fun than in Washington, so now let's sail away!

"Aye, an' what be holdin' 'em up? I'd hate t' sail wit'out 'em?

He takes a drink.

Say, ha' ye ever heard the tale of Angus and the Kilt? Well now..."

ANGUS AND THE KILT
-Lolly Foy

Now Angus was a happy man for soon he would be wed
He'd found a brisk and bonnie lass to take him to his bed
But happier still his mother was that he had found a wife
For truth be told she'd often feared t'be stuck with him for life!

In honor of the grand affair their wedding it would be
She set about to weave a kilt the finest ever seen
The night before the wedding when the kilt was finally done
She called young Angus over and she tried it on her son

She wound the kilt about him and she wound and wound and wound!
But when she'd finished winding it was still eight yards too long
"Oh never fear, me bonnie boy, we'll simply cut it off,
And to your blushing bride we will give the extra cloth."

Now Angus was so pleased you know his heart it swelled with pride
He felt that he must rush right out to show it to his bride
It was raining so he grabbed a cloak to shield him on the moor
And in his haste to be away, his kilt slammed in the door!

Now Angus was in such a rush to show off for his bride
He never really noticed that he'd left his kilt behind
He knocked upon her door, cryin' "Let me in I pray,
I've something that you've got to see before our wedding day"

Well Brigit let him in you know but says, "You cannot stay.
For I must have my beauty sleep before our wedding day!"
"I'll only be a moment love, but it's so grand, my dear,
You've really got t'see what I've got hidin' under here!"

Now when the cloak was set aside, and Angus stood quite bare
We must admit, she was impressed, and tried hard not to stare
"My love, I'll ne'er see finer, though far and wide I'd roam!"
"Oh, lass," he cried, "That's nothin'! I've eight more yards at home!"

Hey, my apologies about not posting earlier. We are missing two players, yes, and I might be able to fill those spots without an entire recruitment thread. I'll send some contact around to the players in the thread, and see if we can't fill in the gaps -if they don't respond by tomorrow morning.-

That said. I'll prepare a post for that, because my body is sore from physical exertion spent this weekend. Generally my slow time, and all that.

You have my apologies for these delays - there will be no more unannounced ones. Promise.

"The Legend of Aethos Pindares"
By The Rude Billy Badstone

Where'er Sailors gather, the legend is told
Of a sea captin cunning, and his exploits so bold
That while in the pub, givin' his lager a sip,
Oft he'd boast of his sea-farin' deeds and would quip:
"Cap'tn Aethos Pindares, never yet lost a ship!"

"Fer I never gits shipwrecked
"An I ne'er gets crossed
"I never gits capsized
"an I never get lost
"Ne'er do I founder in the midst of a storm
"But I always stay ship shape, safe, dry and warm."

Once a blood-thirsty pirate was plundering the main,
so the King calls for a hero to get rid of the bane:
"Captain Pindares, long have I heard of yer fame,
"Now take to yer ship, and go scuttle the swain."

"Aye aye King!"the mighty Captain replies,
and he loads up his ship with beer and supplies,
Orders the men to set a course for pursuit:
"We'll set a sharp course, to way-lay the brute!"
Then retires below to dream of his loot.

"For I never get shipwrecked
"and I never get tossed.
"I never get capsized,
"and I never get lost.
"And I never yet foundered though the waves stay so high,
"But always stay Ship-shape, safe, warm and dry"

Three days now gone by, and still no pirate showin'
so he calls to the Cabin Boy, "How is she blowin?"
"Fair wind, Sir" he answers, "Six knots from the east"
"Dam yer eyes, boy!" yells Aethos, "Its a hurricane at least!"
"This weather's not fit fer man, or fer beast;
"The way the ships yawning and rockin' about,
"We're in danger of sinking, without a doubt!"
So he orders the men, "Throw the sheet anchor out!"

Then he calls to the bosun,
"How fierce is the gale?"
"Not wind enough Captain, to ruffle a sail"
But brave Aethos answers, leaning hard 'oer the rail:
"I can feel the ship listing, have all hands start to bail!
"I'll just stay in my cabin, please send down more ale"

"I never gits shipwrecked
"An I ne'er gets lost
"I never gits capsized
"an I never get tossed
"I'm brave as a flounder, in the midst of a storm
"And I always stay ship shape, safe, dry and warm."

In the midst of a tempest, hours feel likes days,
"What the hell?" shrieks brave Aethos, "I thought I felt the ship sway!"
"But Captin Pindares" the ship's carpenter says:
"The sea's calm and mild, 'neath the sun's gentle rays"
Aethos scowls: "This hurricane'll smash all our riggin' and stays,
"Have the men cut the fore mast and main mast away!"

Then he yells with a bound, "All hands on decks!
The spritsail, and life boats is over board next.
"Abandon ship men, and may the good Lord help ye float,
"Tis my duty as Captain to go down with the boat."
"Don't worry" the First mate sez: "Ye ain't gonna drown"
"We ain't even left port, and the anchor's still down!"

So the legend is told, where'r salts heed the call,
Of Aethos Pindares, the bravest Captain of all,
Who never got wet, no matter the squall,
And when tars gets to drinkin', and the night gets too long
they tell the story of Aethos, and sing his song

Oh he never got shipwrecked,
and he never got tossed,
He never got capsized,
and never got lost.
'Cuz he never did sail through wind or storm,
But stayed on dry land, where it is safe, dry and warm!
