Chapter I: Metamorphoses

"My soul would sing of metamorphoses. But since, o gods, you were the source of these bodies becoming other bodies, breathe your breath into my book of changes: may the song I sing be seamless as its way weaves from the world's beginning to our day."
— Ovid, Metamorphoses

“Ruin is a gift. Ruin is the road to transformation.”
— Elizabeth Gilbert, Eat, Pray, Love

I feel weird continuing to post when nobody else is, but apparently not weird enough to stop...

Assuming that Ladile actually does want to take the Wis slot (and that she's going to do a melee/druid gestalt) I think our best bet for the Int slot might be for me to make a Slayer [sniper]/Magus [eldritch archer]... It's full BAB, all good saves, and has a lot of skills; between the eldritch archer abilities and the archery ranger combat style feats he should be able to dish out pretty good ranged damage (both magical and mundane), and at 4th I can pick up trapfinding. Having no 9 level arcane caster in the party might not be ideal but I'm assuming Adam's pally/bard will keep UMD (along with the face skills) maxed out, so we could rely on scrolls for high end arcane magic which will be less taxing on our resources than some campaigns since Joe has indicated a high wealth level, or we could look at someone possibly picking up a wizard or arcanist cohort at some point (if we could figure out how to keep them relatively safe).

Thoughts?

ridiculous/awesome idea for caster cohort:
So, what if eventually we got a gnomish sorcerer for a cohort... one who loves to read and make things but has crippling social anxiety? We could get him a reduce person item to make him tiny, then give him a ring of sustenance and a necklace of adaptation... then we could get a bag of holding, throw in a bunch of books and crafting supplies, and he could just live in there with almost no need to interact with anyone, lol. He could do some leisure reading and constantly be making progress on crafting items for us, but we'd also have him with us all the time so we could pull him out in safe situations to teleport us places or cast long duration buffs on us.

I'll tinker with the stats tonight and move some points around.

As for the gnome cohort idea, I think it's pretty funny. An alternative might be a few or something similar that's already tiny that we could make diminutive and have them ride in a pocket that's under someone's armor. Another alternative is polymorphing them into an oject, or getting an intelligent item with caster levels as a cohort.

lol. I don't want to force anyone into a build they're not crazy about but the idea behind us focusing on Cha, Wis, and Int separately was at least partially about getting good coverage on a variety of skills. There's obviously going to be some overlap (Ladile will be our main perception person, but I'll have to invest too for trapfinding; I'll be the main spellcraft/knowledge person but I'm assuming both or either of you may invest something there too; etc) but overall we'll work best as a party if we largely trust each other to handle the skills we're best statted for. That said, knowledge nature and religion aren't class skills for me, so if anyone wants to pick up the slack on those I certainly won't complain.

I figured I'd be the general knowledge monkey. :)

I was just planning on moving skill points around nothing too major.

Sorry, my quietness isn't due to lack of interest, I promise! It's just been busy with work and my sleep schedule being out of whack and then I went out and about yesterday and then running my games. I'm off this weekend though and aside from playing in a live game Saturday I should hopefully have enough time to knuckle down and get to work on a character.

The monk/druid thing I think would be fun so I may just go with that :)

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

@Adam- I know bardic lore will help with that, and with 6 skill points each level you can afford some off-skills, but I'll have literally no face skills (and a monk/druid may well have sense motive, but is not likely to have any Cha skills), so we'll really be counting on you for all our diplomacy/bluff/intimidate/UMD needs...

I'm not going to try to really max all my knowledges (especially since a bunch of them aren't class skills) but, as the Int guy, I'll probably keep at least arcana, dungeoneering, local, and planes maxed (or near it), and I might even pick up a trait to make nature or religion a class skill and add that too basically as many of the ones used for identifying weaknesses as I can manage, plus probably geography as a background skill.

Again, I don't want to step on any toes, or make anyone feel like they're being forced into a character/build they're not excited about- I'm just trying to play to my strengths for the sake of overall party strength. Stuff like engineering, history, and nobility is all you though ;)

@Ladile- cool, let me know if you want any help with anything while you're building

Sorry, don't mean to sound, er read like I'm aggravated or anything. Not feeling like i have toes stepped on at all. I just need to move some points around. I'll probably put a few points into all knowledge skills just to have a backup on the knowledges front. You never know when you're going to roll that 1 that'll doom us all. ;)

RPG Superstar 2012 Top 32

Lol, perfect. Remember you don’t have to do that off the bat (because bardic lore lets you roll any knowledge untrained), but getting the +4 from 1 skill rank in each knowledge definitely helps bardic lore out! And, yeah, it never hurts to have back up.

Okay, moved some points around and went with mainly updating face skills. Need to think on a personality, but that will have to wait. Stretched a little thin at the moment.
