Jaxom Cambourne |
Jaxom moves up the hallway to take a flanking position of Norhalo, opposite Jedech.
Black Fang |
Norhalo |
Norhalo will listen for a moment.
Perception check:
1d20 + 3 ⇒ (19) + 3 = 22
If he doesn't hear anything, he'll say quietly: "We should see what is immediately behind these other two doors, as well as what is around the corner, before we go proceed further. Friend Issak, if you would look around the corner?"
Norhalo |
"This would seem to be the area of greatest interest, then, what with being behind two false walls. If I am not mistaken, the tunnel there extends beyond the walls of the Glassworks.
"Before we proceed down the tunnel, though, let us consider this other door beside Jaxom. Friend Jaxom, let me reach past you and open that door...before that, however, allow me to cast resistance on you."
Unless anyone objects, Norhalo will cast resistance on Jaxom then open the door from the side, backing up as soon as the door is open in case there's something combative behind it.
Jaxom Cambourne |
Jaxom will test the door in front of him. If unlocked he will open it, if not he will break it down.
Strength check: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Jaxom Cambourne |
Jaxom enters the room and kneeling over the girl, cuts the bonds holding her.
"Are you all right, miss? Can you tell us what happened here?"
Calathes Neverion |
After channeling, her wounds close slightly, and she visibly draws a small breath. She doesn't wake up.
Seeing the woman breathe but not wake, Calathes will try to heal her wounds further.
Cure Light:1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6, loosing Shield of Faith to cast
Jedech Crell |
With the casting of Calathes' spell, Ameiko's eyes open a little. She croaks out, "Where is Tsuto? He is behind the goblins attacking town earlier today." She alive, and somewhat awake, but still very injured.
Jed grunts angrily at the news that someone at least peripherally connected to Sandpoint has betrayed its inhabitants in such a heinous way. He joins Norhalo in keeping watch for any hostiles, training the business end of Bessie down the hallways.
Norhalo |
"Excuse me, I could not hear her from here. What did she say?"
Assuming someone answers him:
He whispers, "Friend Jaed, I believe shouting to be...unwise, at this time and in this place, and I likewise think that leaving the watch is also unwise. Please ask Ameiko if she knows why her brother did this terrible thing."
Jaxom Cambourne |
Lifting the young girls head and offering her a pull from his waterskin he asks her "Where is your brother now? Why would he betray his neighbors like this"
Black Fang |
She lets out a yell which echos through the place as some previously unnoticed bones pop back into place thanks to Calathes' healing.
After a moment to let the pain pass, she gets up, waving off any offered help. She says, "I must get my gear. I'll return and follow your trail if you wish to go ahead. Where are you going from here?"
Norhalo |
"When you are retrieving your gear, please leave a message for Shalelu telling her where we are."
Norhalo tugs on his shirt near one of the larger splotches of gore. "Not that my advice has been that good today, but I think we should first search the rest of this lower floor, then go down the tunnel. Ameiko, do you know where this tunnel goes?"
Jaxom Cambourne |
"Tunnels that no one seems to know about, hmm. This bears further investigation."
Black Fang |
After taking a moment to familiarize herself with her surroundings, Ameiko turns to the group and says, "Tsuto asked me to meet him, and when I arrived I was jumped by a dozen or more goblins. Just before passing out due to their efforts, I noticed my brother leaning against the wall, watching with a smirk on his face."
She takes a calming breath, and then continues, "If you didn't find him here, then he's run off to whatever hole he's been hiding in for the last several years. I'm heading back to the Rusty Dragon to gather my gear. You would be doing me an honor by allowing me to accompany you in finding and bringing my brother to justice."
Norhalo |
Norhalo smiles. "The honor would be ours. We shall look through the rest of this floor, then await you here and we can examine the tunnel together."
He suddenly stops smiling as he remembers something. "There is one thing you may not know, and if not I am sorry to be the one to tell you. In the furnace room upstairs we found a body encased in glass, and Issak thinks it may have been your father."
Black Fang |
Her faces turns an unattractive shade of red, every muscle tensed. She shakes a moment, and then says, "I'll be back." She leaves at a run, hopefully for the Rusty Dragon to retrieve whatever gear she was talking about before.
Jaed says, "Well, I think that went about as well as it could have. Shall we proceed with checking the remaining rooms?"
Jedech Crell |
Norhalo continues to look in the direction Ameiko went, tight-lipped. "Better she find out from one of us than come upon the body unaware. As for me, I feel the need to see the perpetrators of these deeds suffer. Let us to the search."
Jed grunts in agreement. "And it be no skin off'n mah back if she want ter come wit us to settle scores with the varmint o' a bruther o' hers. I know I'd wanner pay back such doins if'n any o' mah kin did me as bad as dis brother o' hers seems to have dun her."
Black Fang |
As the group searches the rest of the Glassworks, ground floor and basement, they find the bodies of a few additional workers, and far more broken glass than not.
As you are all making your way back towards the stairs going down to the basement to await Ameiko, a squad of guards show up.
"Issak, please tell me you and your friends didn't have anything to do with this?"
Issak Rialathel |
"Only the dead goblins, Dusk. Unfortunately, we showed up too late to prevent the disaster you see here--the entire place is in ruins, and they killed everyone...including Lonjiko. Encased him in molten glass...sadistic little bastards. We just finished checking the rest of the building--this seems to have been the last of them."
Norhalo |
In response to Calathes' call, Norhalo joins him quickly, carrying a small crate, which he carefully sets down after being healed.
"Thank you, friend Calathes. All my wounds from the day's exertions are now restored. (If we have some time tomorrow, though, I would not turn down a prestidigitation spell to restore my clothing....)" He plucks theatrically at his shirt again with a smile.
"I do not know who owns this crate now--likely Ameiko, although this is not the time to speak of it to her--it contains several dozen unbroken glass vials that the rateaters must have missed."
Black Fang |
The lone surviving worker is safely alive, but still injured to the point of not waking.
As the party gives an official statement to one of the other guards, Vik, the rest check both floors of the Glassworks.
After about 15 minutes, Ameiko returns, outfitted with weapons, armor, and other gear that has obviously been well used. Seeing the guards searching the facility and the group talking with one of them, she says, "What're we standing around for?"
Jaxom Cambourne |
Visibly puffing himself up, Jaxom offers "I'll take the lead" as he smiles at Ameiko.
Jedech Crell |
Visibly puffing himself up, Jaxom offers "I'll take the lead" as he smiles at Ameiko.
Jed falls in line right behind Jaxom. He strokes Bessie lovingly and murmurs, "Don'tcher worry, girl, thar'll be more gobbie blood fer yer to taste soon ..."
