After this combat I'll roll to determine base initiative and then add in modifiers for all involved parties.

We'll call this the beginning of round 4.

MAP Each square is 5 ft.

Current Initiative Order: Jaxom, Calathes, Jaed, Issak, Goblins, Jedech, Norhalo. Feel free to post conditional actions for later rounds, but make sure you specify which round(s) the conditional actions are for.

Since I'm last in the order, I'm going to wait to declare my action until after I see what the goblins do, and how many of them are still up when I act. I'll plan on another burning hands if two or more bunch up and I can avoid townsfolk and other characters.

Jaxom: If you mean the bird guy just to the east of you, that's Jaed. Don't worry, he's on your side. 5 ft. step south? That's where I'll move you unless you say otherwise.

Jaxom's blade strike the goblin deep, it's blood flying through the air. Jaxom is protected from the spray by his shield, which smacks the same goblin. Amazingly, the goblin is still standing.

As Calathes moves up to the goblin, it swings it's makeshift sword at him, and nearly guts itself.

Calathes cast's his spell and moves up to a goblin touches it, filling it's small body with electricity. It drops, twitching.

Jaed moves to the southeast and swings a blade at each of the two goblins, striking the one to the northeast.

After Issak's actions.

The goblin Jaxom struck twice, who was and continues to sing, tumbles behind Jaxom and strikes him with its whip, which has jagged pieces of wood, metal, and bone sticking from it. The goblin to the southwest of Jaxom swings feebly at him, but misses. 3 damage.

The two goblins on either side of Jaed both swing and miss him with their makeshift blades. One screams out in pain, hitting itself.

I realized that the owlbear token was Jaed, I meant the circular token to my SW. Is that a different type goblin?

Jaxom Cambourne wrote:

Yes, that's the one singing, who will tumble behind you and hit you with its whip, after Issak goes.

Since I'm pretty sure Jedech and Issak won't take this one down.

Norhalo will move southeast and south (ending up directly east of where Jaed started out), then will cast ray of frost at the goblin currently to Jaed's NE.

Ranged touch: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 2 + 1 = 6
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3

Keep in mind, there is a goblin warchanter in the space where Jaed used to be. If you move as you stated you'll draw an attack of opportunity from it. Also, you don't have to move to be able to aim for that goblin. It's only at 15 ft. of range.

It wasn't the range, it was making sure the goblin didn't get any cover from the wagon. (I need all the help I can get.) OTOH, you reminded me that there's a goblin warchanter obligingly presenting its back to me. If it's still up after Issak and Jedech are done, I'll attack it with my longspear.

To hit: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14 Possibly +2 for flanking
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 4

Otherwise, if it's down I'll go ahead with my previously stated action.

Issak will move one space west and one southwest, and then attack the warchanter.

Glaive to hit 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
damage 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10

Think there's still a +1 to hit from Bless as well...

Issak moves and swings his glaive at the warchanter, who ducks under the blade while tumbling around and behind Jaxom.

Goblins proceed to do as posted already.

Norhalo jabs forward with his spear, but the warchanter avoids this blow as well.

Calathes notices Father Zantus and Silas make it into the new cathedral, closing the door behind themselves.

Still need Jedech for round 4. Calathes, Issak, and Jaxom can go ahead and state their actions for round 5 if they want.

Updated Map

Updated Map

Just for quickness, for round 4 I'll say Jedech takes a shot at the nearest goblin without cover and then reloads his crossbow.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 121d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

As his shot goes astray, Jed mutters to his crossbow, "Blast it, Bessie! Were gonna 'ave to do better to fix these lil' buggers wagons!"

I thought the warchanter had AC15?

If the warchanter is still alive, Issak will attack him once again; otherwise, he'll go for a normal goblin.

Glaive to hit 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
damage 1d10 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15

Jaxom will take a 5' east and swing at the singing goblin.
"Will you just SHUT UP!"

Attack roll #1 (longsword): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Confirm Critical: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Damage: 2d8 + 8 ⇒ (2, 1) + 8 = 11

Attack roll #2 (shield): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9

The rest of the crowd is able to escape the square, hopefully reaching safety, as Jedech is having a fit over his crossbow missing one of the goblins.

With the swing of Jaxom's sword the warchanter quits singing, as its head lands 10 ft. away from his lifeless corpse, batted away by Jaxom's shield.

Issak moves south a step and cuts the goblin down which, at one time, was flanking Jaxom with the headless warchanter.

Only the two goblins flanking Jaed remain. I'll wait a while before rolling for him. Still Calathes and Jaed to go before the goblins get to do something.

Calathes moves to pick up a flank with Jaxom on one of the goblins and swings his staff, widely missing the goblins head.

Move 3 squares south, the one east to avoid AoO.

Calathes went before Issak, I think, so it wouldn't have been dead yet.

Okay, then Issak kills it after Calathes misses.

Jaed strikes with a single blade at each goblin flanking him.

SW Goblin: 1d20 ⇒ 11

NE Goblin: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (11) - 1 = 10

Missing both.

Not that it really matters since I missed anyway, but if the goblin is ruled dead before my turn Calathes would have moved 4 squares SE to pick up the flank with Jaed, and miss just a miserablly ;)

doh! I just noticed I hadn't done the goblins actions for round 5....

Both goblins strike Jaed, one jabbing it's blade into his leg and visibly hitting bone. That would be a critical hit and 2 points of bleed damage. Ouch.

Okay, time for the party to do it's duty.

Round 5

Assuming that all of the bystanders in the area have fled while the goblins went after Jaed, Norhalo steps south then southeast, then casts ray of frost on whichever goblin is still surviving after Jedech acts.

To hit: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 2 + 1 = 8
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1

"Rancid little rateaters!"

Just so I know, we're waiting on Jedech before the top of Round 6 and Jaxom & Issak's informal goblin dissection class?

1d20+7;1d8+1

Round 6 action

After having reloaded Bessie with the move action from the previous round, Jed takes another shot at the same goblin (or if it's dead, the next closest one). Then he will once again reload.

1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 231d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Jedech fires a bolt at the goblin to the SW of Jaed, missing it.

Round 6

Jaxom steps forward while swinging his sword at the goblin to the SE of Jaed, strikes it and bats its small body away with his shield as it drops to the ground, bleeding to death.

Issak moves up to the goblin to the NE of Jaed and buries the blade of his glaive in the goblins chest. It's limp body stuck there.

Calathes sees no additional goblins in the square, but can easily hear the sounds of combat ringing through the town.

No need for Jedech to fire a bolt in round 6.

You all have a moment to catch your breath.

Talk amongst yourselves for a minute.

Seeing the last of the goblins drop, Jaed runs over to the cathedral door, finds it barred, and bangs on it, saying, "Father Zantus! It's Jaed, the tengu. I just want to make sure Silas is safe."

After a moment, he hears the bar being removed and the door opens. Father Zantus steps out, starknife in hand. He scans the square, seeing the goblin bodies, scowls, and then spots the body of a citizen of Sandpoint and rushes over to help. He yells over his shoulder, "Don't worry, Silas is fine. One of the acolytes has been ordered to not let him out of their sight until I return for him." He checks the man over, and lets out a sigh of relief.

The adrenaline rush of combat fading, Issak's guardsman instincts take over. "I fear the entire town is under attack. We should make sure everyone not capable of fighting is moved inside the cathedral, and then make haste to help other parts of town; a fire could destroy the entire town."

That said, Issak helps move any injured civilians into the cathedral.

Norhalo approaches the tengu. "How is your leg, my friend? I'm no healer to be sure, but that blow you took seemed a dire one."

After Norhalo's question, Jaed looks down as if confused, and notices the blood still flowing freely from his injury. "Not by goblins..." and he collapses.

"Father Zantus! The tengu--Jade, is it?--is wounded and dying!"

Norhalo attempts to carry Jaed to the priest.

Having done all he could for the man he was working on, he runs over to Norhalo and Jaed, checks the tengu's injury, and casts a simple spell, stopping the flow of blood.

"If I had time for more, I would do so, but I need to start checking the rest of the town for others who can be saved." He runs off, farther into town.

Jaed is unconscious, but stable.

Jed grunts in disgust as yet another shot flies wide. After he reloads Bessie he looks up to find all the targets down and dying. He spits a thick stream of tobacco juice onto the cobbles and starts stalking towards the edge of the crowd, looking for other intruders.

Jed will move towards any sounds of conflict. If he hears none, he will move towards where the warchanter first appeared, planning on following the tracks until he can see where the goblins converged before rushing Sandpoint. He wants to try and determine about how many goblins were in the group that attacked the village. If successful, he will then backtrack and see how many downed goblin bodies he finds -- unless, of course, other events intrude first.

Jaxom rolls his eyes skyward as the priest runs off further into the town. Then looking around him he points at Jedech and Issak and syas "You and you, with me." Then pointing at Father Zantus " Let's try and keep that man alive" and he will trot off after the priest.

As Jedech gets halfway to where the warchanter appeared...

As Calathes and Norhalo get Jaed halfway to the cathedral entry...

As Jaxom turns to trot off after Father Zantus...

There is a scream of horror to the northeast, and the barking of a dog.

What to do, what to do...

Not being occupied with any other tasks, Issak immediately moves towards the location of the scream, glaive at the ready. He moves quickly, but is careful not to leave the others too far behind lest he get cut off.

MAP The arrow points North. The Sandpoint Cathedral is the large structure to the east. The scream and dog barking is coming from the northeast, somewhere down Church St.

After the group comes together again, minus Jaed, and running towards the north gate, they see a human male, well dressed, hiding behind a rain barrel. There is a goblin riding on what appears to be a cross between a rat and a dog fighting an injured dog.
