Ilya Shukhov |
Ilya rubs his chin, "Even if they are decreasing in number, it will be easier to neutralize them if they are tackled in smaller groups. That, and we don't want to just go tromping through the woods to find them. If we could scout out locations for the secondary melee group to lie in wait and prepare traps at the entrance, we could strike a decisive blow."
"But if it is going to be several weeks, we might as well do some surveying before we begin preparations. Getting ready for a bandit raid shouldn't take more than a few days, so we can do a lot before then. Any thoughts on where we should start?"

Gaelen The Ironfist |

Caelin laughs with Gaelen "Gaelen I don't like Constance I had my fare share of winter to seek more of them" he looks up the stairs "Well I'll be keeping an eye on the stairs in case she send you flying when you go knocking on the door" laughs out loud showing a friendly supportive smile and whispers to Gaelen "I like Tam more" backs up a bit "Not saying that Constance ain't good"pokes Gaelen letting him know he agrees with him about how good Constance look.
Turns to look at Ilya "Oi! Ilya, so about giving ideas to this group, I think I have one! How about Black Lions Company?" he looks at his pint of aleI haven't forgotten about you he he he he".
Don't worry, I'll keep my distance from Tam then for you. he poked back at the dwarf enjoying the banter and laughing loudly. I might only do that if I challenge you to a drinking contest. Let's see who can drink the other under the table. Loser buys the winner the beers for tomorrow night. How about that? he gives a wink to the dwarf, ready to attempt to drink him under the table.

Erian El'ranelen |

Erian nods at Polson's suggestion, "Yes, the kobolds look like an interesting option, and may actually provide us some insight into the bandits if the two groups ever cross paths. Who knows, we might even gain an ally against them for any coming battle." Looking over at Gaelen and Caelin still engaged in their banter, Erian adds, "What about you two...up for some kobold diplomacy?"

Gaelen The Ironfist |

Gaelen The Ironfist wrote:Missing a ring, Svetlana? You seem interested when we mentioned hunting down the bandits. Have they wronged you?Minor fix.
Oleg and Svetlana look at each other communicating nonverbally, the way folks do after many years in a good marriage. Then Svetlana says, "Ask them Oleg, they obviously noticed something, so ask. I'll...be inside." With that, Svetlana rushes into their house barely holding back tears.
After watching his wife leave, Oleg clears his throat and says, "Well, the bandits have been coming by about once a month and collecting their taxes. The first time there was 18 of them, that's when they took my Svetlana's ring. Their leader was a cruel woman with twin axes in her belt. After the first time, she hasn't returned. A rather dull-witted man was with her and I think he was her second in command, and he's the one who's returned the last three times to collect. The generally show up a couple hours after dawn. Help us out and I'll give y'all free room and board for a year and a 10% discount on any goods you purchase from me."
This woman must be dangerous if she has gained sigh a high position in the bandits. I'll enjoy plunging my sword into that b#*+!'s chest and send her to the afterlife. as he said this he seemed to have a great interst in putting this woman in her place, more so over the fact that she's a bandit than anything else.

Constance Superne |

Constance returns to the commons area, no longer in armor, but in a linen shirt and wool trousers. "Well with all this racket, I may was well stay up a while." Constance smiles openly at Caelin. "Cold as winter am I?" She shakes her head before walking over to Oleg.
"Don't worry, we'll take care of those bandits... that won't be harassing you and Svetlana anymore."
After a few moments of chatting with Oleg, Constance returns to Gaelen and Cailin. "You know, the Black Lion Company has a nice ring to it, but I was thinking something a little more... militant... or intimidating... maybe something like the the Regulators, or the Enforcers. Something to eventually strike fear into the hearts of bandits and mauraders everywhere. When I think of the Black Lion Company, I tend to think... well merchants and traders, not knights and warriors."

Caelin O'Hern |

With a sudden curious face looks at Gaelen "I suppose you have your reasons" rubs his chin to think his next words carefully "Oi! The plan with the bandits it's to catch one alive and coerc-whatever, beat him up until he can't speak his name"makes it look like he is enjoying the tought of doing it "Polson I hate traps... I know how to take them down, but I don't like them"looks at polson with an inquisitive face Me friend here likes the dirty fighting, hmpf... to each his own I suppose after a moment he just sits and drink some more ale, at the same time touching his amulet gently, puts the empty pint on the table "Did someone say something about Kobolds?"

Caelin O'Hern |

"Ahh, yes, kobolds. I think we should make our way towards their camp if someone knows about where it is located. If not, we should get to tracking them."
"Oi! Oleg any idea where those kobolds could be?"
If Oleg has no idea, I'll help with the tracking

Caelin O'Hern |

"You are an annoying son of a b!&#@ Xenos. I'm only letting you stay here the night because you arrived with these other folks. At dawn, you're outta here."
You can all tell there's a history of some sort between Oleg and Xenos.
Caelin looks at Oleg and Xenos with a perplexed look in his eyes "In the name of Erastil, do you lads know each other?"

Caelin O'Hern |

Constance lowers her head a bit and speaks in a soft, solemn tone. "I'm sorry for your loss." She says looking at Xenos and then to Oleg. "For both of you."
Perplexed by Constance words "You did not kill them there is nothing to be sorry for, right?"looks around to see what everyone else thinks "Well I'll go orc hunting with ya, to avenge her anytime friend"pats Xenos in the back and looks at Oleg "Oi! Oleg ain't his fault there were so many, he has a debt of honor to repay already what else can you wish for... unless yer not a man of honor" looks at Xenos closely

Gaelen The Ironfist |

Pointing to Caelin, "Well with loud mouth going to bed, maybe I can finally get some sleep." With that Constance bids everyone a good night and goes back to bed.
Bring on the kobolds.
Gaelen takes the oppitunity to bow and smile towards her.
Good night once again this time he makes sure she goes first just so that he get's a much better view of her from behind and closer too, though he's smart enough not to try anything.
Constance Superne |

Or Perception 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17 which ever is more appropriate. Not that it matters now.
Then next morning Constance is up well before daybreak, decked out in full armor. It's obvious she stayed up polishing it last night. She has already been out to take care of her mount, having him fully saddled, brushed, fed, and looking as if he is ready for a parade. Constance comes back inside to meet her companions.
"If we are going to make friends with the kobolds, may as well make a good first impression. We should probably also take some gifts as tokens of our appreciation for their... cooperation."

Caelin O'Hern |

"If we are going to make friends with the kobolds, may as well make a good first impression. We should probably also take some gifts as tokens of our appreciation for their... cooperation."
Caelin wakes early morning to check his armor and clean Reuze Klap with outmost care before going outside.
Yawn!! "Morning, you really are a sight to see Constance" smiles in a friendly way "Nice armor take well care of it, for it will care for you" looks at Reuze Klap whip like blade shining surface "Nice, clean and sharp" smiles for the sake of fun and care he takes about his weapon and looks at Constance"About them kobolds, ya sed something about tokens... any ideas?"

Caelin O'Hern |

"Kobolds, kobolds, koblds... don't they like shiny things... or is that goblins? I can never remember. Uh... gems, gold, silver... I guess. I've never had a kobold friend. Anyone else have any ideas?"
"Well I ain't offering weapons, but how about food or some shiny stuff like you sed"

Gaelen The Ironfist |

Gaelen yawns as he comes down the stairs, fully equipped like last night and ready for action as he scans the room of everyone.
"I believe all uncivilised creatures like Gnolls, Kobolds and Goblinoids would carry some kind of treasure. After all, Gems do shine brightly enough to catch anyone's eye. Even us humans have been known to take interest in gems so it makes sense they would too." he looks to Constance and smiles. "I thought we were going to take the bandits first, but if you want to deal a blow to the kobolds, fair enough. You'll hear no objection from me."

Black Fang |

Oleg says, "They don't leave the hills to the south. Careful if you go into the hills. I've heard folk talk of mites in the hills too." Oleg thinks about something for a moment, then says, "Try heading east southeast about 15 miles. There's an old man who lives in a hut there. Bokken may be better able to answer some questions for you."

Polson Lacey |

Polson Lacey wrote:Polson gets ready to pack as little as he can get away with. "15 miles?" he whines...Oleg says to Polson, "You could always help out around here." while putting on some tough leather gloves and getting ready to work on repairing the palisade.
Polson flexes his long delicate fingers, thinks about doing manual labour and allows a smile to creep across his face. "15 miles you say? I shall just go pack."

Angus Skulkhiem |

Unless the group has anything else they'd like to accomplish tonight, the night goes by uneventfully.

Daybreak....
sorry for the late post...unusually busy day. Angus casts cure light wounds on himself and Tam before praying for the next days spells before retiring for the night
Tam Cure 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Angus Cure 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Caelin O'Hern |

Caelin bearly contains an anger in his voice "MITES! Reuze Klap and me are ready for them, I have heard a story or two from my family on how wicked they can be..." looks at Gaelen "I'll negotiate with kobolds but mites... I rather take a swing or two at them before I even say hello" crosses his arms across his chest with a determined look on his face.

Erian says, in a somewhat scholarly tone, "Mites are evil-natured little fey, lovers of darkness that aren't overly fond of dwarves, from what I recall. They are fond of spiders, scorpions, and other poisonous creepy-crawlers, however, and I'd expect where you find mites, you'll find something ready to sink fangs into flesh."
He pauses (one might get the sense he's giving everyone time to take notes), then continues, "Now, as for kobolds, they are as likely as any sentient race to take gems, coins, and the like. However, they are also renowned builders of traps and most tribes revere dragons in one form or another."

Erian El'ranelen |

Erian nods once, then starts tightening the straps on his strange leaf-covered armor while talking. "So, 15 miles. That's a three to six hour ride depending on the terrain. No need for supplies that close to the post, so we can travel light. I'd suggest we take some building supplies as an offering of peace--some good rope, perhaps some pitons or spikes. Things the kobolds might find useful. And of course, if anyone happens to have some draconic paraphernalia to offer up I'm sure that would help. Once we arrive, who intends to take the lead in any negotiations?"
Looking to Oleg, he adds, "I'll take another quiver of arrows if you've got one? The twenty I have should be sufficient, but it never hurts to be prepared. Hmm, and speaking of being prepared, you wouldn't happen to have any antitoxin?"
