Male Human (Romandan) Warrior 4

Caelin gets out of the wagon and says, "Well I'll go take a look around, since I gave my word on it already any help always welcome and if not that's ok also" Caelin looks at the bowman and says. "I didn't get your name by the way, but if your ready let's move along" looks back at Polson "Take care of my stuff while I'm away"

Edit: 1d10 ⇒ 4

Male Half (Dark)Elf Rogue/Fighter (3)

Polson looks over his shoulder then realises the human is in fact talking to him. "Er, sure thing" Polson says, not used to being trusted enough with others goods.

As folks are about to ride of to do a little hunting, Xenos speaks up, "Hold on folks. Y'all must not be to familiar with this area. In about an hour we'll be reaching Nivakta's Crossing. Not the best of towns, but big enough for us to stay the night. All y'all have some coin to get a room, don't you?"

Location for the night is Nivakta's Cross in the middle of the map. MAP

Currently, there is no road going to the south, but you all do meet up with another group of explorers. They're being lead by a low-ranking noble by the name of Maeger Varn.

"Ey, and we be appreciating the ride and your, your...Hospitality." says a gruff fire bearded dwarf from the corner of the cart. "The names Angus, Angus Skulkiem, and your Xenos..ain't that right?" says the dwarf, extending a scarred, calloused hand to Xenos.

Male Half (Dark)Elf Rogue/Fighter (3)

With only an hour to go to their destination, Polson carefully cuts some strips of meat and wraps them up. He packs his meagre belongings into his bag and checks over his equipment before nudging Angus with his foot. "Some food, master dwarf?"

Angus

Spoiler:
Rumor:Breeg Orlivanch, a foul-mannered trapper, has been missing for some time—they say he gave up trapping and joined
the bandits!

A reminder to everyone, Oleg's Trading Post is still several days travel from Nivakta's Crossing. This is just the stopping point for the night of the first day.

Xenos responds in dwarven,

Spoiler:
"Aye lad, the names Xenos Tobler. I'm a merchant amongst other things."
Xenos finishes with a slight wink and a laugh.

What does Polson know about Nivakta's crossing? If required Knowledge;Local 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

"Ye ain't poisoned it..have ye darkelf?" Agnus says with wink as he takes a strip of meat "HA! just foolin me boy...heard ye talking with the others and ye seem all right to me" bellows Angus, smacking Polson on the back. "Com'on lets get moving. Gotta be more excitment in this place than in this damned cart"...oh and thanks for the meat"

Within minutes of Xenos reminding folks this isn't the end of the road, you all arrive at the edge of town. There's a 10 ft. wooden palisade around most of the town, but there are also several buildings outside the walls.

Perception checks.

Knowledge (local)

Spoiler:
"The southernmost village in Rostland, Nivakta’s Crossing, is an alert town of tradesmen, hunters, fishermen, and trappers. The village itself is surrounded by a wooden palisade and is set on the northeastern bank of the Shrike River. A low bridge allows access over the river here to the wilderness to the south—the southwestern side of the bridge being fortified by well-manned guard towers.
The people of Nivakta’s Crossing are sturdy, down to earth, and possess stunted senses of humor. Serious to a fault, they are somewhat suspicious of visitors from what they call “the South,” but they’re willing to take the PCs’ coin for trade nonetheless."

Perception

Spoiler:
You spot Maeger Varn and his group with ease. Their coin purses seem full and easy for the taking.

Sorry, I had to toss that last bit in there. ;)

Male Half (Dark)Elf Rogue/Fighter (3)

Polson hops down off the cart and stretches in an exaggerated manner. Offering a hand to Angus to assist his egress from the cart Polson begins to stride towards Maeger Varn. "Time for a drink I think!"

Angus

Perception

Spoiler:
You notice a large group of people well armed and equipped. You figure they're off-duty guards or a military patrol resting in town for the night.

Knowledge (history):You know it's rare for a year to go by without the centaur's of the Nomen Heights causing some trouble for the people of Nivakta's Crossing. According to Rostland, that is.

"A drink?! Well that sounds more like it. I haven't prayed all day. Lets go."

Male Human (Romandan) Warrior 4

Looks at Angus and says, "Naaahh it's not poisoned, and the name is Caelin, Mr Angus always a pleasure to see a dvergr, care to join me for a good mead and pork at the tavern?", Caelin smiles and says, "Well I hope there is a good tavern in side and a good song or story to listen"

Polson, Wisdom check.

Caelin, you notice the half-drow wandering off alone.

If she can see them, Constance wants to keep an eye on the other adventurers, maybe even size them up.

Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22 (to size up other party.)

Constance

Spoiler:
You notice Polson wandering off in the direction of the other large group and get the impression he's trying to not be noticed.
The group appears to be very well organized and highly funded. Their gear is top grade as well as their mounts. If you weren't so virtuous, you'd be envious of their outfit.

Male Human (Romandan) Warrior 4

Shakes hands with Angus, "Nice to meet ya too lad! Let's go get us some place to take those prayers"laughs out loud,"the Dokkalfar name is Polson or dark elf as you call it" whispers to Angus "Shy little fellow, told him a good beard would make him more manly" smiles

Xenos yells out to the party before they get to far away from the wagon. "Make sure you all stay at the Pirate's Slug. It's the only inn in town big enough to hold a group our size."

Xenos then mumbles as he starts taking stock of everything the half-drow "borrowed" from him.

Female Aasimar Paladin/Inquisitor

Constance keeps an eye out for Polson, ready to step in if he looks like he is going to get into any trouble.

Caelin, you easily spot the Pirate's Slug. It's not the worst place you've spent a night.

Female Aasimar Paladin/Inquisitor

Spoiler:
If Polson happens to make his way into the Pirate's Slug, Constance will follow and buy a meal for all of her new traveling companions... just not alcoholic beverages.

Male Human (Romandan) Warrior 4

"Common guys right this way" Walks into the Pirate Slug and takes a look around for an empty seat and a peek at the people in the tavern.

Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Caelin, you notice two groups of people. The first looks to be local just in to have a few drinks before heading home after a hard day. The second, looks to be either military, or mercenary.

Angus, the majority of the patrons don't pay y'all any attention beyond an initial look when you enter.

Just as Xenos finishes securing his wagon and horses for the night Erian rides into town with the choice parts of a good-sized elk.

Male Half-Elf Bard 1

"Anybody in the mood for a nice backstrap?" Erian calls out with a grin. "Like I said, plenty to eat out there...you just have to look a bit. This one was a true beauty, but it must have been in the rut, since he practically walked into my arrow." Dismounting from his horse (while looking about for a stable boy), the half-elf holds up the choice piece of meat. The bloody mess (obviously well harvested and prepared), contrasts somewhat with Erian's boyish look and expensive accoutrements.

Erian look around the settlement to get a sense of the place, thinking back on anything he might have heard or read...

Skill Checks:
Knowledge (geography) 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Bardic Knowledge 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 (+2 more regarding humans)
Perception 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19 (+2 more vs. humans)

Xenos walks up to Erian and says, "Stable is over there, it's self service in this place. Leave 5 silver in the wooden box inside on the left to pay for the feed and space." He then heads to the Pirate's Slug to enjoy a few pints and a meal of stewed kidneys in vegetable broth.

Erian takes care of his mount, ensuring it is adequately rubbed down and able to rest for the next day before securing some feed and water. Looking in his coin pouch, he counts only two silver. Hmm, I wonder if they'll knock a bit off in trade for some fresh meat...otherwise I'll have to get some coin back on a room.

Looking up at Xenos, he asks, "So, where are the rest? And do you think anyone here will be up for a little trade on some meat and a rousing tale? I could spin a yarn or two that might be of interest, I'm certain!"

Erian

Spoiler:
The river you've been traveling along today is the Shrike, it continues along until it empties into the Tuskwater in the Kamelands, part of the Greenbelt which the charter tells y'all to explore.
To the south of Nivakta's Crossing is the Nomen Heights, an area more dangerous than the Greenbelt. For the most part, the Nomen Heights are controlled by the Nomen Centaurs, hence the name. The mountains you can see to the west south west is the northern arm of the Tors of Levenies, which are the natural boundary between the Greenbelt and the Nomen Heights.

Erian notices Xenos is nowhere in sight.

Male Human (Romandan) Warrior 4

"Toast for a new friendship, adventures, mead and women" looks at Angus "So do what brings you around here have an intresting story to tell a merry song?"

Spoiler:
looks at the door occasionally waiting for the others to come in to greet them

About a half-hour after Caelin and company enter the bar, Xenos joins them. The waitress walks up and brings him a bowl of stewed kidneys in vegetable broth as well as a pint of ale.

Another half-hour later, Erian arrives looking a little nervous.

Male Human (Romandan) Warrior 4

Looks at Erian "Oi, bowman what's ye name by the way? Oi! Barkeeper a drink for my fellow here, he's dry and empty, look at 'im he's even shaking!"loughs out loud "Make it fast poor man is gonna drop like a log and as cold as one if you don't bring it soon enough!" looks at kidneys "Are you sure you don't want pork?

Ilya and Uli plod along in relative silence. The knight occasionally casts sidelong glances at Constance, but otherwise keeps to himself.

Arriving at the village, he ties his mount to a post near the tavern. Reading the sign, "The Pirate's Slug," brings an audible groan as he enters the common room. He nods to the barkeep and calls out, "Sweet vermouth," pointing to the table with Caelin and Angus. He sits beside the pair and removes his gauntlets, securing them to his belt. "So what does our dwarven duo think of the local flavor?"

Sorry all, I need to unplug for a few hours. Have fun in the tavern, everyone is there for now.

"Thanks, friend. Erian El'ranelen at your service. And if it pleases everyone, I've got elk steak ready for roasting if anyone's interested." Erian slaps the backstrap he had carried in down on the table to illustrate his point. He calls out to the entire room "Meat for any that take a liking! and then adds, with a look to the bar, "assuming you folks are up for the cooking?"

Taking a seat with Caelin, he again calls out to the crowd, "And I might spin a tale or two, if any are interested in hearing such things..."

Performance check:
In case folks are interested, a roll to see how the dice gods treat me tonight...

Perform (oratory) 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21

Male Human (Romandan) Warrior 4

Laughs out loud "Lad you must be drunk already!? by Erastil I'm an Ulfen but I take your remark as an honor and a good joke extends a hand to Ilya Caelin is my name, gives a pat in the back to Angus my fellow dvergr here is Angus, points at Xenos over there is Xenos a friendly and little upitty but a fine man, points at Erian our story teller, singer and good hunter, pat Polson in the shoulder and that one is Polson little shy and he's right over here Caelin raises his mug "A merry song I hear! let us sing this song to get a long well friends" whispers to Ilya "Eat the pork unless you like the kidneys" disgusting face "drink the mead or the ale good for the spirits and the singing"

Ilya stares at him for a moment, "Dwarf you are not! But that is a mighty soup-catcher you have growing on your face."

He turns to Erian, "Do you know 'The Lusty Halfling Maid?"
