Are there any homebrew traits that give any of the new skills in class?

and stats are 25pt buy or 30? or are they on the birthright site?

Silver Crusade

If you rolled your Blood trait randomly, they are at 25.

Orfamay, it's too tired to start working on homebrew traits. :) I have no interest in thinking up some at the moment.

How is this?

GM Elton:

Q2A.: Okay, according to Ruins of Empires, you have 17 + 3 + 4 holdings for a total of 24 temple holdings. A lot of people go to church. Your domain power is 24, so you gain 24 RP every month assuming your Bloodline score is higher than 24. GB accumulated through tithes to the Church would be (numbers are temple holdings, numbers in () are GB collected through light tithes - 10%).
Calrie - 6 (5 GB), Dhoenel - 5 (3), Halried - 5 (3), Shadowgreen -1 (1)
Ilien - 3 (2)
Ghaele - 2 (1), Serien - 4 (4)
This equals 26 not 24 RP. You missed the 2 in Ghaele. ;D

Total GB: 5 + 3 + 3 + 1 +2 + 1 + 4 = 19 GB. Your RP generated is 24, GB accumulated every month is 19.
My question was not about RP and GB earned each season; I can figure that out. My question was how much has ETN accumulated/banked in the treasury? How much do they start with? Plus, what assets does ETN already possess? Some cathedrals, couple of troops (marines), some ships, the academy of speakers, etc.? Do you me to suggest some things?

Variant: Early Leadership
Regent characters are forced to act as leaders immediately. Regent characters may ignore the normal character level prerequisites for the Leadership feat. Any regent character may take the Leadership feat as early as 1st level.

Scions are born to lead. A scion's leadership score is modified based on the number of scion class levels he has. Furthermore, a regent may add one-tenth of the sum of his province and non-source holding levels in his domain power to his leadership score (this replaces the 'strong-hold bonus' and represents the regent's position-based prestige). Scions with obvious powers may also qualify for the +1 'special power' modifier to Leadership. A regent who makes a name for himself as an individual (rather than simply as the head of his domains) may also gain additional bonuses for his personal prestige (as per the standard guidelines in the Dungeon Master's Guide.
That's a good start but doesn't address two issues with Leadership at low character levels. First the cohort's level is limited to 2 levels BELOW the character level, no matter your leadership score. Second, followers don't start until a score of 10.

My 2nd level character has a +2 Charisma +2 for holdings +1 for special powers. That's a score of 7. Is that right? Do you want my character not to have followers until 5th level? Do you want my character not to have a cohort until 3rd level? If yes, then only players with high Charisma would have any interest taking Leadership at 1st level for followers, right?

Lets say there is a Cathedral in Mieres, Ilien, and Aerenwe (Ilien has two cathedrals, the Impregnable Heart of Haelyn has the larger one). There is an academy of Speakers in the royal capital of Aerenwe, and you have about 3 caravels. As for Church marines, these pretty much make up your guards. You know how the Vatican is guarded by the Swiss Guard? Same thing there.

ETN has accumulated about 25 GB/26 RP.

This was solved by the Scion Prestige Class. Taking a level in Scion allows you to raise your Leadership score by 2 points. The prestige class is only two levels (so they are paragon levels, actually). But it boosts your Leadership score by 6 points.

With all due respect, this scion prestige class does not solve the issue of the cohort. Leadership still has a hard limit of the maximum level of the cohort at two levels below the character. So a 1st-level cohort can be attracted by a 3rd level ruler.

Further, the scion prestige class removes a spell-casting level in exchange +2 leadership score; not a great trade IMHO. For example if my character went cleric 1/scion 1, he would then have a leadership score of 9, and still not attract followers for another level.

If you want to go with these rules (which is perfectly OK), ALL of your players have no incentive to take Leadership before 3rd level, except maybe for a super high charisma character who wants some 1st level sycophants.

cheers

Hey Moergan your math is off man your leadership score is 6 :)

Silver Crusade

He's mad that he can't get a trade off with Leadership at first level. i can understand that. Moergan, you can wait until level 7 to get leadership.

Gaius Anphelan Roesone wrote:

Here's my math: "My 2nd level character has a +2 Charisma +2 for holdings +1 for special powers. That's a score of 7." He has a number of major bloodline abilities that would probably qualify him for "special power." Where is "my math off?"

cheers

GM Elton wrote:

I can take it at 3rd level for the 1st level cohort. I think many players will be in the same boat when they do their own math.

cheers

Just checking in - I'm still keen, just digesting BRCS before I write up my alias.

Do we get a +1 per level?

Silver Crusade

Regents usually get a hit point bonus per original BRCS. But not this time. I want to test it if you guys need it or not.

It looks like you are on step 2 of the linked Character Creation Guide. Please continue.

Step 5 has recently changed. We no longer need to spend feats to collect regency. Instead, regency collection is keyed to our favorite class.

So my whole basis is to be a leadership hero is kinda why im leaning towards a fighter tactician archtype

so is my math right?
2 from level two
3 from cha 16
2 from holdings
2 for special abilities/trait

=9?

Roesone earns 30 RP, so you would get +3 (10%) for provinces and holdings.

I think special abilities caps at +1

I don't think Elton has agreed to allow a trait to boost the leadership score, yet.

So +9, just a different way

cheers

Thanks Moergan

for trait i will choose Carefully Hidden and On Guard.... unless there are any campaign traits?

No special campaign traits, yet. My character reflavored a Skulls & Shackles one, so feel free.

Alright. :)

Hi GM Elton, I've checked out Rogr in the Player's Secrets book, and I'm enjoying the setup there. I'm looking to model my Rogr pretty closely on the published one, but have run into a weird thing with his bloodline powers.

He has enhanced sense, a major ability, which he shouldn't (as far as I can tell) as he has a minor bloodline. In any case, Masela's version of this is basically "ignore wind and rain", which I'm not too keen on. So I'm going to not take this one.

Apart from that, I'm really liking the published version. So consider me that Rogr. When I post my profile, I'll have gone deeper into his backstory a bit, but it'll essentially follow what Player's Secrets of Ilien has put forth (which also suggests that I'm older than 30, as my daughter, a priestess of Nesirie, is my most trusted lieutenant).

Hopefully stats will be up soon! Just to warn you, I will probably need a bit of help with the new rules and stuff, at least to begin with - I hope it won't be too annoying for everyone. In light of that, when I do post my profile, I'd invite everyone to look over it and audit it, as there will probably be errors. I'll try and include breakdowns of everything so that the numbers can be more easily checked.

Cheers, very much looking forward to this!

Starting Realm Spells: 1d3 ⇒ 3

Woohoo!

Where did you find the players handbook?

A google search should help you with that...

GM Elton wrote:

ILIEN: Ilien is a small, one province domain on the southern coast. Highly populated, the county is home to the second largest city in Anuire, the Free City of Ilien. A neutral port, the Free City itself thrives by acting as a beacon for people of all walks of life. Rolling grasslands and small ranges of hills surround the city and provide fertile ground for growing crops and raising livestock.

Lacking both vast lands and a large military, Ilien survives through the magics of its jovial and benevolent count, Rogr Aglondier. Though Ilien is technically neutral, Count Rogr maintains friendly relations with Roesone and Medoere, the two realms that border the county.

Like many nearby realms, Ilien was once a part of Diemed, but split from that realm when it began to collapse. Diemed remains a constant worry, as it is well known that the Duke of Diemed greatly desires to see the old lands returned.

Why do you Want to Play Ilien: Ilien is the prototypical Wizard King province. It's great for Wizards, Sorcerers, and Summoners (not necessarily a Witch). Everyone depends on you to protect the realm using arcane realm magic. The province is very small, being one of the *five* (forgot Muir-Kilad and Rhoubhe) 1 province realms in Anuire.

* You have 21 GB in your treasury, but only gain 7 GB through Taxation and Trade.

* The people worship Haelyn and his wife, Nesirie.

* Everyone depends on your Realm magic to protect Ilien.

* Your armies are lacking but they consist of: 1 unit of Armored Cavalry (Knights; the Golden Plumes), and 1 unit of Archers (also of the Golden Plumes). You also have 3 caravels.

* You have but one castle, and that's Castle Aglondier.

Just wondering, are there more concrete stats for Ilien available? I ask because I'm choosing Realm Spells, which require a Source (x) - I don't know what Sources I have access to. Is the forest one, and if so, how strong?

Realm Magic without a Source would kinda suck!

Also, as a human I have two feats - is that it, or are there special feat rules I'm missing (apart from Leadership, which I won't be taking just now)? Just checking that I don't get any bonus ones, or that I have to take any particular feats (did I see something about Regency feats through the thread?).

Cheers!

Here's what I have so far. At this stage, it's just a sketch. Happy for anyone to take a look and comment, advise, or correct.

Note the absence of any Regency stuff. I could use some help with it :)

@Elton

Birthright.net has relatively little information about the assets of Mieres beyond the army and the navy. It does not, for example, list any accumulated regency points, the current state of the treasury, or any physical assets such as castles, roads, trade routes, et cetera.

Shall I just make @#$% up?

Be persistent. Maybe PM him.

When are you putting your character behind an appropriately named avatar?

Whenever I get official name approval. The avatar is created (click on the illithid and you can see her), but if for some reason he comes back and says "no, make these changes and rename her Tian Wang," I'm not cluttering up the avatar name-space.

That's something of a pet peeve of mine; the way avatars work on this board, if you make an avatar for a character and for some reason it doesn't work, you've also prevented anyone else from ever using that name. If this game gets off the ground, then the name "Lilibet" is forever locked and thirty years hence, no one will be able to use it. It's bad enough that if I get to play the character -- but if it's for a character that I don't even get to play, that seems even more bad-citizenship of me.

Thanks for the info, but I'm not quite sure how it works - can I access sources in neighbouring realms then?

I will learn this stuff, I promise, but I've no working examples to go on - once we get started I'm sure it will all make sense :)

Edit: Also, feel free to look over my rough sketch of a character :) And to suggest the next step, what I need to calculate etc.

I am looking for name approval also. I am not sure on first name, i think Riegon would be a good last name.

Also, I am not sure how much gold i should roll.

And I didnt see on the site where it says what other sorts of things i should have in my profile other than the base character. (like my gold trading bars and stuff).

Here is what i have so far, spoilered for length:

Spoiler:

=========================
Pronounced an-WEER-ee-an

Anuireans look like Western Europeans and Basques. They have a culture that is a lot like England and France of the late 14th Century, so they are the most recognizable. Anuireans are a deeply religious people who are fervent about their faith. However, over the years there has been many disputations of doctrine, new faiths had started, and many schisms have split the Anuireans over religion dozens of times. The Anuirean patron is Haelyn.

Anuireans typically have Feudal Governments and every realm's ruler is given a Feudal Title. Titles include: Count, Baron, Earl, Thane, Duke, Archduke, Prince, and King. There are exceptions within Anuire, but these appear frequently (Archduke Beoruine and Prince Avan, for example). Anuireans typically live in the land of Anuire, which occupies the southwestern Quadrant. During the Empire's Height, Anuireans have started many colonies in Aduria and Arkydria.
=========================
ENDIER: As one of the smallest domains in Anuire, Endier finds itself in something of a bind, wedged as it is between Avanil, Ghoere, Tuornen, Diemed, Alamie, and the Spiderfell. It cannot hope to compete with the farms of the larger realms around it, cannot raise an army to rival theirs, and cannot hope to defeat these powerful entities in any endeavour, except one - trade. The ruler of this realm, Guilder Kalien, has done his best to ensure that the words Endier and trade become synonymous. Since taking power, Kalien has transformed Endier from a cesspool of corruption into one of the greatest trade centres in Cerilia. Though his means are very dictatorial, Kalien is careful to maintain the people's loyalty with frequent celebrations of their newfound prosperity.

Like Ilien, Endier is dominated by a single city - the Free City of Endier. The city is a thriving metropolis located on the banks of the River Maesil, supported by foodstuffs imported from the countryside. It is from this city that Kalien runs his tangled web of intrigue, pulling on a string here and there to get the desired result.

Initially, Endier was part of the Spiderfell. Technically, Roele had rewarded the province to Diemed, but House Diem never braved the Spider to claim it. A little over 250 years ago, however, an intrepid scion named Richard Endier arrived with a group of settlers and tore the province away from the Spider while Diemed languished under an inept ruler. The county has managed to keep itself free of the Dieman yoke ever since.

Why Would you Want to play Endier: Endier is a trading Kingdom. The Prototypical kingdom ran by rogues. It's a kingdom built by trade rather than sources or law. Endier is one of three kingdoms in Anuire that consists of only one Province. Ilien and the Spiderfell is the other two.

* you get 43 GB in your treasury. You gain an income of 32 GB through taxes on trade, but you pay 3 GB in tribute to the Wizard regent Caine once a year.

* Your military forces consist of: 1 unit of light Cavalry, 2 units of Infantry, two units of Archers, 1 unit of Scouts, and a navy of six Caravels.

So, can I access those via ley lines... or something?

Yes. A ley line (an aquaduct for magic) connects two sources and allows you to use the more powerful source in the province of the less powerful. For example, the Demagogue spell requires you to be at a source (3) or better. You can't cast it in Illien, then. But you have such a source in Banien's Deep/Aerenwe, so if you had a ley line from BD/A to Illien, you could tap the ley line and cast the spell.

Quote:

Thanks for the info, but I'm not quite sure how it works - can I access sources in neighbouring realms then?

If you have ley lines. I don't know what lines you have at start (that's not clear), but you can forge them later with domain actions. (I"d suggest asking GM Elton for a ley line from BD/A to every other source holding you have. Technically, what you want is the minimum spanning tree....)

It costs 1 regency point per turn to maintain a ley line, so an extensive network is expensive. I don't see any way in the game rules to destroy a ley line, but I'm fairly confident that such a way could be house ruled as another domain action, if for some reason you need to go head-to-head with Tim the Enchanter.
