It's because I'm not sure if the Cavalier really needed or not as a class. It works great as an Archetype for the fighter.

Well I really took Cavalier for the challenge ability to fight in single combat and the tactics ability to lead his men well up to you I'm getting Gaius backstory typed up piece by piece but need my laptop to complete everything

Backstory done how does thhis sound GM?

Gaius' Backstory:

When Daen Roesone died at the hands of his son Ivil and the eldest son Raemel was brutally murdered the young lover of the eldest son fled and had their child in secret (Gaius' father) when he was older Maximus (see above) left his mother to venture into the world where he stumbled into the elvish forests and by trials of strength and wit he won his life among the elves and took an elven lover. Years passed as time does in the elvish forests and Gaius was born. Raised with other children of his upbringing (half elves) as well as the children of the elves, he was trained with sword, lance, and bow. When he grew to adulthood his father told him of their families past, Gaius wished to leave the forests and confront these distant cousins of his.
Gaius was gifted with several companions who also wished to leave the bowers of their home. With his friends he ventured towards Roesone. On his travels Gaius was treated with scorn and rejection from the humans of Anuire due to his elvish blood. What surprised Gaius the most was the fact the events that his father told him about which seemed only 30 odd years ago was in actuality almost double that time. It took Gaius almost six months to find the city of Proudglaive, the capital of Roesone, again he was met with suspicion and contempt from the human populace. Gaius vowed he would right this wrong if he had any say in this, to be judged merely for his blood.
Gaius after a time staying withen the city made his way to the Baroness' castle and in front of the square pronounced himself as Gaius Anphelan Roesone, grandson of Raemel, and the rightful ruler of Roesone and bore proof of these statements. The guards confronted with a challenge to the throne, and several heavily armed and trained bodyguards to Gaius, escorted him to the throne room where Gaius met Marlae Roesone, Baroness of Roesone, as well as her brother Daenal Roesone heir to the throne. Though surrounded by her guards Gaius challenged her for the right of the throne in single combat and if she could not face him herself, then to name her champion as due to the laws of trial by combat.
Surprisingly on the dawn of the trial Gaius faced not Daenal but Marlae herself. The duel was to take place in the palace gardens away from the masses. The combat that ensued was one sided for a time Marlae using her strength and experience against Gaius' speed and intelligence. The fight lasted for several minutes until Gaius sprung his trap, he had maneuvered Marlae into the dark recesses of the garden where the dew on the grass collected more heavily, her armored foot slipped and Marlae fell twisting her ankle into an unnatural position and Gaius layed his sword to her throat and pronounced the duel over saying that the realm would be a worse place if Marlae's life was extinguished by her own cousin.
Marlae conceded grudgingly and later that day Gaius was pronounced the new Baron of Roesone.

First change your Regent of Holding feat to Regent of Law.

What race (and if human, which kind?) should my king of Endier be? or is it more of a melting pot?

Guilder Kalien was a half-elf. Where he came from I don't know because I didn't write his background or seen it in Player's Secrets of Endier, as I never got that book. Most likely you are Anuirean, but yeah, you can be mostly any human race you may choose.

5 realms is plenty for this DM. As long as we get a cleric and wizard.

Going ahead and rolling for bodyguards, if I understand the rules correctly

The character I have in mind is a Rjurik Fighter warlord named Bane Ordis, but I don't know if he will fit in anywhere other than the Rjuric backgrounds or lands, although on the wiki on the .net site I really like the Aegilsgaard clan, but I'm still so new to all of this that I'm unsure what to do from here

In a pinch the original character concept works just as well as a Barbarian

Silver Crusade

The Rjurik in Anuire has pretty much adopted the social customs of Anuire, although saying your from the Aegilsgaard clan is saying something. The clan ethling (Cheiftain) of that tribe has a Vorynn bloodline. He's also a 15th level fighter. You would most likely have that Vorynn bloodline too.

Your family is based in Hogunmark, so you have to devise a good reason why you left Hogunmark, and traveled through terrible territory and getting to Aerenwe, getting crowned king, and how you earned a level doing that. :)

I have some suggestions to inspire you.

Conanesque -- Your adventures are a lot like Conan the Barbarian's, but unlike King Conan, you couldn't adventure extensively all over Cerilia (Conan would have done so). You wanted to settle down somewhere and so decided to come to Aerenwe.

Gone on a viking! -- You decided to go on a viking with some of your warriors. You take some of the warriors from Hogunmark and you make viking raids when the fields were planted (during the summer, I think). You could have made Stjvordik your base and raided as far down as the Southern Coast, settling in Aerenwe.

Wandered into Aerenwe -- You just happened to wander into Aerenwe at a certain inauspicious time and happened to be at the right place at the right time to be Coronated king.

Oh yeah, I think girls went on these vikings too. So, if you have a girlfriend --

The Rjurik look a lot like these: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Viking_costumes

In that list Bern is closer to Bane, but who can pass up a great name like Beowulf?

As for your last name, best go with a Patronym. Here are the rules for your Patronym:

Most family names are derived from your line of decent, your place of origin, or your occupation. Rjurik names are 80-90% patronyms. This makes this list doubly useful as you can select both a first name and a family name from it. Males follow their father's name with "sson" and females follow their father's name with "sdotter" as though you are adding a possessive and your relationship to the character's father. Patronyms are not inherited among the Rjurik.
A few houses have adopted place names as family names.

1d20 ⇒ 16

2d6 + 5 ⇒ (6, 6) + 5 = 17 (assuming im not an especially martial character)

1d100 ⇒ 67 type

hopefully irregulars means ninjas bwahahaha

Wow, those all sound pretty good, although I think the most likely for Bane Ordis is either the Conanesque or the Viking, or possibly a combination of the two. Would it be possible that way to become an unintentional hired sword by the queen of Aerenwe and be granted a kingdom of his own, or earn it through conquering/raiding?

Silver Crusade

If you are taking Aerenwe, you would be coronated as king. so you have to figure that out. :)

sorry, it's way late I should be in bed.

irregulars means "Commandos" "Bear-shirts" and criminals pressed into service.

Ok so renaming Bane Ordis is a slight roadbump but I love Viking, Nordic and names to that persuasion so here goes!

It may not be on the list but how about Aerrik? it's a Nordic name, but if that doesn't work, I'll just pick a few I really like from the list instead.

Brand
Dane
Geirmund
Rainer
Orkning
Storm
Thord
Thorgeir
Vulfric
Vulfrum

As far as the last name, definitely Bernsson

as a joke I was gonna ask if I could be a Firbolg ;D but I'm more than happy to be a big, surly heavily-armored Rjurik from the Aegilsgaard

commandos sounds good.

Also I've decided that my character is following after Anduiras

8d8 ⇒ (2, 8, 2, 6, 2, 7, 4, 6) = 37 blood magic

now we are level two characters, so we dont roll for wealth unless i am missing something...

Normally "commandos" are more highly trained than "irregulars" implies, yes?

Irregulars are units that are trained for different situations in battle than the typical pikeman or infantry. From the wikipedia -- Irregular military refers to any non-standard military.[clarification needed] Being defined by exclusion, there is significant variance in what comes under the term. It can refer to the type of military organization, or to the type of tactics used.

An irregular military organization is a military organization which is not part of the regular army organization of a party to a military conflict. Without standard military unit organization, various more general names are used; such organizations may also be called a "troop," "group," "unit," "column," "band," or "force."
Irregulars are soldiers or warriors that are members of these organizations, or are members of special military units that employ irregular military tactics. This also applies to irregular troops, irregular infantry and irregular cavalry.
Irregular warfare is warfare employing the tactics commonly used by irregular military organizations. This involves avoiding large-scale combats, and focusing on small, stealthy, hit and run engagements.

I've just flicked over this thread, just wondering, is this still open? I bought the Birthright Boxed set in, gee, '96 or '97, was it? Loved it, but never got to run or play it. So, pretty excited to see this!

Edit: Must add, someone "borrowed" it a couple of years later, and I never saw it again... So I'll need to read this thread in detail to catch back up.

I do remember I loved the poster map(s), and the names.

I let someone borrow my Rulebook, Atlas, and ruins of Empire, and Player's Secrets of Talinie. You think I learned by now. :(

I'm hoping to get enough new players interested so I can start a game. And yes, it's still open, I think the group needs a cleric. Aubheroene is playing a magus, we have two fighters, and a rogue.

You get to compete. :)

So yeah, obviously I bought it back the AD&D days... Is this a 3E version, and is it still available?

Silver Crusade

It's a pathfinder version, it's as 3e as you can get on this site.

Actually BR.net is the page that has the expanded Atlas. :)

The rules set are in the conversions part of this site. I have homework to do so I won't be adding much except for the new domain rules -- which I have to copy. :)

Okay everyone, listen up. This is an image of the planet Aebyrnis superimposed on our Earth.

Alright, got the converted BRCS :) I'll read up, read this thread carefully, and hopefully have it all sorted in the next 24-48 hours. That fit your timeline GM?

CURRENT PLAYERS
Orfamay Quest - Mieres
Aubheroene - the Sielwode
tdunn1989 - Roesone
Tenro - Endier
Squee the Goblin - Aerenwe
littlehewy - Ilien

Did I miss anyone? Are we still on track to close recruitment on Aug 23 and play on Aug 26?

Should we make a guide about domain turns and actions? Or are you going to run it straight from Birthright.net?

Are you playing the bonus hit points for bloodline score? It's in your conversion document. In fact, there's a lot of things in that document that are mutually exclusive. Is it possible to delete the things that you will not be using? Thanks

If the party really needs a cleric, I will change to one and run IHH to be closer to everyone. Maybe I can run two domains, because the Sielwode is isolated from the party.

cheers

I'm going to make the Domain guide myself. See where I can add the domain rules to the Ultimate Campaign rules from the Pathfinder Reference Document (stupid automatic spelling check!)
