Beyond the rim... there dwells madness -- Moff Rimmer DMs the Planes

Game Master Moff Rimmer

Something is happening that threatens the existence of the planes themselves. Our heroes have been chosen and thrown into things to set things right -- are they up for the challenge?

Male Halfling Oracle 8

"Check with Lanwin first to make sure he's got a spell to remove diseases or curses."

Bird Tengu Monk/8

"E. can ask those girls. Pinna has no wings." Pinna sighs sadly.

Male Tiefling Sorcerer 4 / Rogue 3 (CL 7)

Vassago mutters some names of the inscriptions he could translate.

The Fried Fingers Inn....The Flying Badger...The Glory Hole-In-The-Wall Pub...The Swaggering Magus...

Male Halfling Oracle 8

<Blushes>

"My mistake. I couldn't tell under...everything. I'll find something so we can both fly. How does that sound?"

Male Human Fighter/7

"And just what are you thinking about, friendly leprechaun?" Vortic eyes him, "Ha! Like them tall, do you? Just kidding my friend."

Male Human Fighter/7

"Ooo, the Kitten's Mitten. Sounds like just the right fit!"

Male Halfling Oracle 8

"I wouldn't mind finding a wagering establishment. Could be interesting here, wherever here is."

Bird Tengu Monk/8

"Flying would be nice," Pinna says absently. "Maybe the Flying Badger should be our inn. Maybe they have gambling? Welch and badgers eat you. It's Pinna's guess."

Male Halfling Cleric 8

"I could sure use a drink. And as to your question: it wouldn't be the first time I've cured Stallion Itch with the right spell..."

As you guys are walking up and down the streets trying to get your bearings, one of the things that strikes you is the incredible variations in architecture. One building might be made of wood that is colored bright green, the next one might be made of red marble, one looks like they brought in an entire ship colored black, and one may be a hodge-podge of materials.

The outside of the Kitten's Mitten looks like it is covered with the skin of a very large tiger. You can't seem to find any seams where different tiger skins might have been sewn together. The coloration is also yellow and black instead of the typical orange and black you are used to. There is a lovely woman at the entrance greeting people and giving farewells to people who leave.

"Can't claim to have ever had it. Don't spend much time in the big city, let alone this city."

Bird Tengu Monk/8

"Kitten's Mitten it is. If they have rooms." Pinna approaches the greeter. "Hello. Any rooms open?"

Male Human Fighter/7

Vortic approaches cautiously as well, he keeps his eyes peeled for any trouble near-by.

Male Halfling Cleric 8

By the way, Lanwin doesn't generally make much of an effort to hide his holy symbol and other trappings. I hope these people like Lathander :)

Lanwin is close behind.

The Flying Badger has a giant animal's skull as the entrance. Probably not a badger or even a dire badger, but impressive regardless. There are a couple of cheesy wooden "wings" attached to the top of the skull. Not the best kept up, but there are worse places around. People at least seem to be having a good time inside...

Lanwin:
Lanwin -- You seem to be cut off from your deity here. Whatever spells you had coming here, you still have memorized/known -- but you can't get any new ones until you rest elsewhere. (Sorry.)

"Oooh, I like the sound of this place. Can we go here?"

Pinna wrote:

She seems to size you up -- "Yes we have rooms. Fully stocked if you take my meaning. That is ... if a body's got enough jink."

Bird Tengu Monk/8

"Pinna have jink. Got room for six? Three are small." She waves at the party. "Need to keep E. away from too much fun time."

"Speaking of guts, we should find a place with a good kitchen." Vortic begins sniffing around. What place smells the best?

Bird Tengu Monk/8

"Fried Fingers Inn might smell good, but don't think we want to eat there."

Male Tiefling Sorcerer 4 / Rogue 3 (CL 7)

That kitten... referring to the door greeter at the Kitten's Mitten ...looks more like a cougar to me. I'd question those stripes. As for dining, I took upon the trouble to read the description beneath The Glory Hole-in-the-Wall Pub ...something about their dining offering a unique experience. He squints a little more. Although in Infernal tongue, that word is synonymous with unorthodox, so take that however you will.

He scans the horizon of alcoves and windows looking for that one inviting marquee...

A-ha! The Drunken Wood Nymph! How can that not be inviting?

Male Halfling Cleric 8

Do they have food at Kitten's Mitten?

Lanwin Fairweather wrote:

Food? Yes. Dining? Not really. It's mostly snack food and deserts.

That's not a bad combination. It can be tough finding snacks in the desert.

Bird Tengu Monk/8

"The lady says Kitten's Mitten rooms are fully stocked. That means food, right?"

female halfling Sorcerer 8

Since they got to Sigil Elysia has been darting here there and everywhere trying to see everything at once. She seems to have mastered the art of ducking through crowds and somehow stays with the group in spite of her explorations. Her eyes are wide and glittering with excitement as she tries to go everywhere at once.

"Best. City. EVER!!!!!!!" ^.^ she squealed.

"Look! Over there! And there! And there! SO much to see and only set of eyes it seems like such a horrible waste. And all the smells. Oh, I can smell at least six different types of food and I'm so very, very hungry. I don't think the Kitten's Mitten has much to eat, but maybe I'm wrong, but I went in someplace like that once and I ended up having to start quite a lot of trouble before I was able to get out again. It's a long story and I'll have to tell you about it sometime but right now I'm really, really hungry and can we please find something to eat now?"

Male Halfling Cleric 8

"Hmm... The Fried Finger, Living Fruit, Strange Brews, Mrs. Lovett's Meat Pies... Aha! What about the Pleasant Pheasant?"

Bird Tengu Monk/8

Pinna glances at the winged badger skull and listens to the noise from within. "Sounds like party. Maybe E. is right. Pinna has not been to party for a long time." She clacks her beak.

Ha!

I should have added -- They mostly serve drinks and other ... well, forms of fulfillment.

Male Tiefling Sorcerer 4 / Rogue 3 (CL 7)

Bald Beaver Liquors ... o-ho! The Vulgar Unicorn ... Sphinx's Turnstile ... we could go on here. But we're such an indecisive lot. You! Vassago looks upon E. Humor us. What does the compass suggest? We dine there.

female halfling Sorcerer 8

"I don't care where we go as long as they have food and they don't try to serve me off the children's menu. It's never enough food and it's really a bit well....I mean, I know I'm short, but I'm not a child. I've been out on my own for quite a long time. Heck, I'd be married by now if I'd stayed at home, but I just couldn't go through with it, mostly because Raven was such a stick in the mud. I mean, you would think that the leader of a thieves' guild would be more adventurous, right? Not so much. The way things are going right now I'd eat one of those awful rat on a sticks that they were selling as street food in the last city I visited. Well, actually they weren't so bad, especially with the curry sauce. Much better than the fried grasshoppers anyways."

Bird Tengu Monk/8

"Fried grasshoppers?! Where?! Mmmmmmmm." Pinna regards Vassago. "Good idea, Man-with-No-Name. E., what does compass say?" She fixes E. with a bright eye and tilts her head ever so slightly toward The Flying Badger. Twice.

The Flying Badger seems to be more of a gambling hall. A fun place, but not all that great for getting food.

In an effort to find a place that has food and possibly a place to rest and get your bearings, your nose brings you to Turby's Inn. Small, well-kept and clean with an aroma that isn't offensive -- actually quite the opposite. Smells kind of like steak -- but a little sweeter.

Male Halfling Cleric 8

"Let's check this place. I want to get off of these crowded streets."

Bird Tengu Monk/8

"Yes! Let's go!" Pinna ducks into Turby's.

Male Halfling Oracle 8

<Looks wistfully at the Flying Badger, then...>

"The Unwelcome Halfling!"

<Moves closer and sees a sign painted with a halfling, great axe splitting his skull while he grins goofily>

"Oh, this will not do!"

<Storms off to The Unwelcome Halfling>

Pinna wrote:

Of all the places you've seen so far, this may be the least extreme of any of them. There are normal chairs and tables. The patrons seem to be mostly humanoid looking. You see some wings and hooves and large teeth on some, but for the most part it seems to be fairly tame.

You see behind a counter in the back of the large room and dwarven looking character -- well he would probably be dwarven if he didn't appear to be on fire.

You are approached by a rather attractive woman -- bright red skin, gold hair, loose and light clothing, and you can just make out a couple of horns coming through the hair. "Welcome to Turby's. Would you like..." and she trails off and looks at you closer. "Well extinguish my flame! Hey boss! We got us some primers!" She then starts to usher you toward a table off to the side. "Please, come this way..."

Male Halfling Cleric 8

Lanwin grabs E and tries to haul him forcefully into Turby's.

Bird Tengu Monk/8

Pinna looks back nervously to see if anybody has followed.

"But see did the you sign? It halfling in had getting the a cleaved skull!"

female halfling Sorcerer 8

Elysia cheerfully grabs E's other arm as Lanwin tries to drag him along.

"Come on, this way, silly, we're going in there, the place called Turby's. They have food and it smells delicious and I'm so very hungry, aren't you? It's been an awfully long time since breakfast. I bet this place has all kinds of interesting new foods to try. Though right now I'd settle for quantity over interestingness. Ooh, watch out you almost stepped in that pile of poo on the road. You have to watch out for those things, well you don't have to, but it's helpful especially if you're not wearing shoes which I'm not because they're much to confining and I like feeling the dirt under my feet. I don't feel quite like I'm in a place if my feet aren't touching the ground. Here we are."

Male Tiefling Sorcerer 4 / Rogue 3 (CL 7)

Fortunately, you're a leprechaun. Now, tut-tut! It seems we've agreed upon an establishment according to the compass. So that's where we'll dine.

<casts a second mage hand to have both of them tugging at E.'s collar>

Damn the gods who thought it was a good idea to make these breed true... he thought to himself.

Male Halfling Oracle 8

"OK. OK. Fine. I'll eat here."

<Floats over to a chair>

Male Tiefling Sorcerer 4 / Rogue 3 (CL 7)

Vassago takes a seat opposite the aloof halfling. I suppose I'm going to have to remove this if I can afford myself to eat. The pair of mage hands released its grip on E.'s collar and went to the sides of Vassago's face to unclasp and remove the mask that covered his nose and lower jaw. If it were to anyone's surprise, he appeared distinguishably human beneath it.

Until he pursed his lips to lick them ... with a forked blue tongue.

female halfling Sorcerer 8

"Oh, wow, that's so cool. Blue even. I wish I had multicolored body parts. Wouldn't that be fun? Like being a walking rainbow, and oh look, breadsticks, that's good cause I'm so hungry and all and it's hard to wait for the food to get here and where are we going to go after this because there's just so much city to explore and I don't even know where to start but I want to see all of it and did you see all the creatures walking around out there? It was amazing. I saw at least twelve different creatures that I'd never even seen before and I wanted to ask them oh so many questions because I have so much I want to know about them but I was so very hungry and it's important to keep up your strength when exploring new places it wouldn't do to pass out from hunger just when you'd found something you wanted to learn about," she said, somehow, while inhaling a few breadsticks. Apparently she needed to chew about as much as she needed to breathe.;)

Male Tiefling Sorcerer 4 / Rogue 3 (CL 7)

Have more breadsticks, he hisses. Each mage hand picks up one to give to Elysia to eat as soon as the previous one has been consumed.

That ought to keep her quiet for the next ... fifteen seconds, he mused.

After Madhi (the red-skinned girl) puts down the "breadsticks", the dwarf character brings your meals. At first glance, they sure do look like steaks, but the consistency isn't quite right. The muscle fibers aren't quite there.

"Greetings and welcome to Turby's ... and from the looks on your faces, to Sigil as well. Haven't seen primers here in quite a while. And I'll just bet that you've got some good stories to tell. So tell Turby a bit of juicy info... what brings you to Sigil?"
