Strength test for Averruncus 1d100 ⇒ 52
With the strength provided by his power armour, Averruncus rips the hatch off the roof and throws it away with contempt. Brother Rollo arrives beside him just afterwards.
Scorpelio and Tarkus have arrived at the doorway as Loghir kicks the remnants of the door aside and enters flamer ready. He finds himself in a central hallway, doors lining the far side of the hall, stairs going up at the far end of the hall to his left, stairs going down at the end of the hall to the right. All the doors are closed.

Scorpelio |

Scorpelio activates the Siege Auspex tech-use: 1d100 ⇒ 7 with 4 Degrees of success with Int 44 and tries to make the most of the information gained before handing it to Tarkus.
"It is active, go Brother Tarkus, I shall cover the lobby. Should you find an escape tunnel of any kind, alert me immediately."
And he gives Tarkus a brief rundown of what the information displayed is likely to mean. Thanks to Astartes Eidetic Memories, he's confident Tarkus will have no problem remembering how to use it.
He then tries to find cover in the lobby Unless there are no Xenos left outside and I'm being an idiot while activating his Auspex Implant.
Tech-Use: 1d100 ⇒ 20 For 3 Degrees of Success with Int 44.
All this set up is likely to take a turn or two and thats fine with me.

The only xenos in the area still alive are somewhere inside this building.

Browman |

What information can Scorpelio tell me from the 4 degree success roll on the auspex?
The structure is basic construction, with no fortification in any way; except for a room in the basement which seems to be some kind of panic room. The basement to normal eyes is only half the size of the ground and first floor, a hidden blast door conceals the other half. Even the siege auspex can't penetrate into the rest of that room.

Brother Loghir Apothecary |

"They have probably taken the VIP to the panic room in the basement. Let us clear the building and then see what we can do about the panic room. Keep an eye out for any possibly useful xenos tech"
Loghir kicks in the first door he comes to and lets loose with the flamer

The Son of Antaeus drops a frag grenade by the hatch and wait for explosion.
Frag Grenade Damages: 2d10 + 2 ⇒ (8, 3) + 2 = 13 Damage type: X; Pen: 0; Blast 4
Half a second after the explosion, the transhuman warrior jumps by the hatch, his bolter in his left hand and his Force Sword in his right hand.

sorry, for some reason, the website didn't automatically post with my character name.

Browman |

Brothers Rollo and Averruncus storm into the building from the top as the rest of the kill team enters from the bottom. The frag grenade from Averruncus catches two of the xenos in the hallway and Rollo's single shot finishes one of them.
On the ground floor Loghir and tarkus start clearing rooms each starting from the centre and clearing left and right down the hallway. The first room each of them opens is empty.

Scorpelio |

"Brothers Tarkus and Averruncus, my Auspexes have detected what we believe to be a Panic Room in the basement of this building. We're going to be heading that way. Rendez-vous with us once you've cleared the upper floor."
And Socrpelio watches the rear as the group of three advances.

Brother Averruncus, Librarian |

Averruncus shots a short burst of bolt toward the surviving xenos.
Target value: 46 (BS) + 10 (Short burst) + 10 (Short range) = 66
Ballistic Skill: 1d100 ⇒ 42 That's a success, with an additional hit
First bolt:
Damage die 1: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Damage die 2: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
That would be 12 damages (type X), Pen 4
Second bolt:
Damage die 1: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10
Damage die 2: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
That would be 16 damages (type X), Pen 4

Browman |

dodge: 1d100 ⇒ 83
Averruncus shots the last xenos on the top floor.
5 Xenos left
With all the Xenos on the top floor dead Rollo heads towards the stairs. Reaching the top of the stairs by the end of the turn.
Tarkus leads the pair with scorpelio down the stairs to the basement. The storeroom below is filled with supplies but empty of Xenos.
Loghir has cleared a second room on his side of the building. 3/8 rooms on the first floor have been cleared.

Browman |

Rollo and Averruncus head down the stairs, moving with more speed as their brethren have already cleared the hallway. Both of them are at the top of the stairs to the basement.
Loghir continues clearing rooms on the main floor but they all have lacked xenos to this point. 4/8 rooms on the main floor cleared.
The xenos may have tried to hid their panic room, but their efforts are nothing compared to wonders of mankind's technology. Scorpelio quickly finds the hidden lever that will open the panic room door. Tarkus positions himself so he can fire a frag missile in as soon as the door opens.

Scorpelio |

"Brothers Loghir, Averruncus and Rollo, I've found their Pathetic Excuse for a Panic Room in the basement. I've found the opening mechanism to the room and Tarkus is prepared to fire a Frag Missile into the confines."
"Brother Tarkus, on my Signal."
And Scorpelio readies his plasma gun in one hand, his other on the Lever and counts down for Tarkus to ready his shot.
"Three...Two...One..."
And he pulls the lever to open the door.
Please dont have a superweapon hiding on the other side

Brother Averruncus, Librarian |

Averruncus keeps following brother Rollo. He is cautious to any xenos treachery such as booby traps.
Mentally, he calculates how many seconds have passed since they first engaged the stealth suits (I'm too lazy to count how many rounds have passed, but I'd say that we should be around 20 rounds, which is around 2 minutes, since we engaged the stealth suits. Do you confirm? This is important for estimating the delay we have before reinforcement could reasonably show up. The nearest outpost being several hundreds of km away if I remember correctly, even if the Tau were to send very fast reinforcement, I think we could have between 10 and 15 minutes before reinforcement, from the moment we engaged the Stealth Suits. It's very possible they notified other forces in the region before the engagement, but I don't think they requested for reinforcement until we dispatched the stealth suits)

Browman |

Tarkus fires a missile as soon as the door opens enough. 1d100 ⇒ 27 The missile flies true, and with nowhere to hide taking 2d10 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7 damage with 4 pen. The round detonates, but does little damage to the tightly packed group of xenos.
Four of them fire a volley out at the astartes heading towards them.
1d100 ⇒ 101d100 ⇒ 891d100 ⇒ 931d100 ⇒ 28
Tarkus tries to roll out of the line of fire now that his missile has struck. dodge: 1d100 ⇒ 54 But doesn't move quickly enough taking 1d10 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 151d10 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21 each with 4 pen. He takes a total of 12 damage.
The rest of the team is now also in the room connected to the panic room. Loghir is the farthest away from the door to the panic room being about 15 meters away.
Averruncus is roughly correct in his calculations

Scorpelio |

Scorpelio, with his Free hand, will lob a Frag Grenade into the Room.
'Nade Toss: 1d100 ⇒ 90 #FateReRoll down to 2/3
'Nade Toss ReRoll: 1d100 ⇒ 74 If we're at Point Blank Range (I assume so), thats a hit with BS 48 + 30 = 78 for 1 Degree of success. Otherwise, its a miss. WHY RNGESUS WHY!?
Range with the Frag Grenade is SBx3 = (4 x 2 [Unnat. Str])x3 = 24m but I doubt this matters much.
'Nade Damage: 2d10 + 2 ⇒ (8, 4) + 2 = 14 at Pen 0, Blast (4)
"Glad you could join us, Brother Loghir!" Scorpelio States, smugly.

Brother Loghir Apothecary |

Loghir runs full speed towards the room ready to flame on
"Someone had to make sure the guests didn't forget anything in their rooms. If anyone speaks Tau thank them for huddling together for me, although I will give them my warm thanks myself soon"

Brother Averruncus, Librarian |

The kill-team has no time to play with cowardly xenos. A swift death and fading from memory is all they deserve.
As such, the librarian again gathers his psychic energy before to unleash it in a powerful bolt of power.
Averruncus uses Smite at "Push" level. Target level: 50 (Willpower) + 30 ("Pushed" Psy Rating) + 10 (Psy-Focus) + 10 (short range - cf. Smite power rules) = 100
Psychic Power Test: 1d100 ⇒ 62 Success!!
Psychic Phenomena: 1d100 ⇒ 45 Along the mighty both of searing light, some power oozes from the warp, manifesting as blood weeping from the stones within 3d10 ⇒ (1, 6, 2) = 9 meters radius from the psyker.
Damage: 6d10 ⇒ (5, 7, 3, 9, 4, 1) = 29 Penetration 6, 6m radius

Brother Loghir Apothecary |

Starting with the basement Loghir starts putting things on fire, on the way out he blasts fire into every other room on the lower level.
Then he runs to the comms building and vehicles setting everything on fire. Making sure he's quick about it and not running out of time.
Then it's the good old camo and head to the extraction point.

Brother Averruncus, Librarian |

"Brothers, I'm not sure calling for extraction would be the most responsible course of action for now. Unless these xenos were fools, they called for reinforcement, since we failed to destroy their comm-station fast enough. If they are even half efficients as an army, the new of our presence here and the attack on this station should have reached the higher ranks of the Tau local forces - and those of their xenos allies.
Most likely, xenos reinforcements are coming toward us at this very second. And they probably scrutiny the sky and nearby void for imperial vessel. Maybe they already search for our voidship too.
Calling a Thunderhawk for extraction now would certainly put the vessel under unwanted attention and great danger. That might mean its destruction - and ours too if we're inside. And that might bring unwanted attention to the voidship that brought us in this system in the first place. Extraction might prove dangerous not just for us, but also for Deathwatch military assets.
I suggest we take a minute to assess the strategic situation and review our options."
From what we know about the Tau forces in the system, and their local xenos allies' technological capability to travel the void, is our extraction really jeopardized? In other words, do the Tau have a military float in the system that could hunt and destroy our thunderhawk and/or the voidship that brought us here?

Scorpelio |

I might not have made it clear but, after asking Loghir to torch the place, I wanted us to pull up our Cameleolines and get as far away from the base as possible and head towards any pre-determined extraction point that would be nowhere near the base.
"We're definitely not staying nor are we extracting from this location, Brother Librarian. If you can use your witch-sight to gaze into the vagaries of the future, that would certainly help us get off this Xenos infested planet."

Brother Averruncus, Librarian |

I might not have made it clear but, after asking Loghir to torch the place, I wanted us to pull up our Cameleolines and get as far away from the base as possible and head towards any pre-determined extraction point that would be nowhere near the base.
Ahah, looks like I'm the one who wasn't clear, here :)
My worries are not related to where exactly is our extraction point. From my point of view, it's largely irrelevant. The problem is that even if we manage to escape notice with our cameleolines cloaks and travel 200km in any direction, our thunderhawk might be easily spotted by Tau radars or any other tech they have on board their void-ship. And they will have easy time to destroy it, however pathetic is their tech in regards to the omnissiah sanctified tech.I believe we can escape notice as long as we stay on the planet. But our vehicule of extraction won't be so lucky. And our voidship might become a prey itself, assuming Tau delegation has any proper fleet orbiting the planet.
Our big problem is that the comm-station has very likely sent an alert message, possibly a short description of the attackes ("guys in big armors and heavy firearms") and most likely a request for reinforcement. Thus, the Tau forces in the whole system are very likely on high level alert now, and searching for us. Not just on the surface of the planet, but everywhere in the system (and if they are not doing this yet, they will withing a few hours, if they have any brain). Because they know we must have some mean of transportation. And they will detect our vessel eventually.
Our escape was compromised from the moment we failed to swiftly destroy the comm-relay.

Brother Loghir Apothecary |

I assume the extraction will enter the same way we did, so we'll need to wait for several days. The Tau would need to blockade the whole planet to get us leaving. By then we will have made 2 entries to the planet so I assume they will fly us into space in a location furthest away from any tau ships. I don't see this as a big problem.
If this was a tau planet with a full navy compliment I would worry. But they're not going to fill the space with warships before any agreements are signed, that would be quite menacing.

Browman |

The extraction goes as smoothly as possible given the circumstances, though it still takes you 5 days to get out of the system.
---------
When you arrive back at the watch station you are informed that the Watch Captain will be briefing the entire compliment in approximately an hour in the primary briefing theatre.
---------
When you arrive in the briefing theatre you see nearly 60 marines seated with another dozen senior members standing on one side of the stage. One of the most veteran brothers is holding an ancient banner that is normally in a stasis chamber just off the grand entrance, it is the banner of the Watch company and is emblazoned with honours dating as far back as M32. The only people you are aware are missing are a few senior tech marines and a pair of squads currently on missions.
At the appointed time Watch Captain Xerces enters.
"Brothers, it is with great sadness that I have called this briefing, before I continue a pair of pictures feeds will be shown."
The first is clearly from a thunderhawk heading into atmosphere and shows the craft descending onto a landing zone as it gets closer you can see four stakes pounded into the ground each with a mainre's helmet on the stake.
The second picture feed then starts, clearly from a helmet feed, the occupant and his kill team are exchanging fire with a horde of Orks advancing on their position, even for veterans of the deathwatch the Orks are clearly too many to hold off, as you see squads of Nobs and a deff dread moving up. It is almost painful to watch as one brother after the other is eventually taken down by shear weight of numbers as they run low on ammunition and have to engage the xenos in close combat. The last two fall to a warboss and his Nobs.
"as you can see from this footage brothers our squad that was sent to assist the imperial guard in their campaign against Waaagh Skullkrumpa was wiped out. Such a challenge must be met, and it will be by the full wrath of this company. I have instructed the tech-marines to awaken the ancients and to open the vaults. Our vengeance shall be great and wrath manifest as we tear the heart from this waagh. Rare is the day that a full watch company deploys, but a glorious day it will be. March with me my brothers and we will drive the Xenos from the planet. Each kill teams specific orders will be given in transit. For honour and vengeance."
As the watch captain turns to leave the entire company stands, their right hands slamming into their chests in salute as they cry "FOR HONOUR AND VENGEANCE"
given the nature of this mission you each have 100 requisition with no renown limit, the watch captain has truely opened the vaults for this mission.

Ulf 'Elli'Yngvarr |

As the clamour dies down and you turn to head for the armouries, you notice an ancient looking Space Wolf with fangs that resemble tusks, a long white beard and skin so leathery you could use it as armour. His sky blue eyes stare straight at you from above his perfectly polished armour, watching you, assessing you. Straightening up from his position resting against the wall, he approaches you.
" As you can see they really are pulling out the ancients for this fight, I am Ulf, 'Elli' to my pack mates. I have been assigned to accompany you this trip as your Brother Tarkus has been called back to his Chapter, they haven't told me anything more."
Walking up to each brother in turn, Rollo, Scorpio, Loghir and then Averruncus will hold out his left arm for the handshake of warriors. " You, we will feast, drink, arm wrestle and become pack mates. You, we will talk defences and their breaking, I will drink and you probably won't, then we will test weapons together and we will become pack mates. You, we will burn things, scare thralls with our funny looks and then compare tattoos and brandings. Lastly you big fella, I think we must fight either against each other or together to become pack mates, but we will."

Scorpelio |

"Greeting, Brother Wolf. It shall be a fine hunt indeed and with our expertise, their feeble, ramshackle orkoid structures will crumble to dust before us."
Nodding his approval and returning the handshake.
"I shall discuss with the Masters of the Forge to see if we can do anything for our arms and armour."

Brother Loghir Apothecary |

Loghir laughs at his comment
"Greetings brother wolf, aye I believe we will have little trouble scaring thralls here, and burning things we shall, I may even let you inspect and test my own modified flamer."
He likes the old wolf, he seems to have the wisdom of the ancients and a good humor to boot.
"I'd be interested in hearing your thought on our loadout for this mission brother. We seem to be blessed with too many options"
We can do that in discussion

Ulf 'Elli'Yngvarr |

The Son of Antaeus laconically answers "Anytime" before to walk toward the crypt.
Slapping the big marine on the shoulder as he walks by, Ulf laughs
"Ha, I like you already, let us see what is left after the Orks and then maybe we have a little brawl. I think we will need all our strength today. Come let us get weapons and then have an aperitif to swear oaths by."
Ulf 'Elli'Yngvarr |

I had an idea based off an old British comedy show ('Only Fools and horses' for those that may have seen it) that he would randomly use foreign words he has heard to sound 'cultured', as it gives credence to all his old stories. Expect him to use many of them badly out of context!
