Game Master baldwin the merciful

"The Black Spot" An adventure of extradimensional depravity for four to six 5th level PCs Explore the wreck of The Flying Fortune, a ship impaled on the exposed tip of an underwater mountain with a waterfall of gold coins spilling from her shattered hull. Unravel the mystery of her vanished crew—the bloodstains, the shredded decking. Discover a dank and gaping hole in the stone peak that pierces the Fortune. Is it a natural opening? Or a tunnel crafted by arcane engines? It leads down, that much is clear. Down inside a hollow, underwater mountain—all the way to the ocean floor.

Do we know how to activate it again?

Revhi you jump a few more times and nothing. The light remains off.

How long are you standing there where the light was?

Is it dark in the room? Or did just the teleportation magic light go away?

Also, who has the gem we found in this room? One of the ones who jumped into the light?

Evil GM

Just the teleportation light went away.i should have clarified that.

Nobody did anything to the Jade eye. It's still there.

Dinetta looks to Revhi: Gotta look for a way to reopen the light portal.

With that, she picks up the Jade eye and begins looking for a way to use it, perhaps?

Marcus and Jerome:

You land with a hard thump. The light is gone. This room is empty save for three portals in the south, east and west walls. The southern portal hums with a blue variation. kn: arcana or spellcraft.

Revhi, dinetta and Jean:
dinetta shimmies up to the small gem on the wall. So far the light has not returned. She investigates and begins to pry at it...realizing it's some strange sort of eye. Someone is watching.

Meanwhile revhi and Jean jump up and down where the light was located thinking there is some strange doorway that took their comrades.

Seems to be some type of eye.

Realizing that it is sometimes best to not be seen, she takes a small piece of fabric and places it one the gem. She will secure it there, and if necessary will use her gloves (Mage Hand) to hold the fabric in place.

Evil GM

Jerome:
You realize the light that you stepped into was some sort of teleportation device. You also know the humming sound and blue wall variation is a wall of force. You figure you can destroy it with brute force.

Evil GM

The light is gone. This room is empty save for three portals in the south, east and west walls. The southern portal hums with a blue variation,it similar to a wall of force. You understand that you can destroy it with brute force.

Dinetta then it dawns on you, perhaps the golden staff could turn the wall of force if you touched the two.

I need to load up the map.

Evil GM

Command Level Map

There are three portals which one are you trying? The southern one (middle one) is the one that is humming with the wall of force.

Dinetta looks to the door.
It might turn off if we used the staff. I don't know if we could turn it back on, but no reason to spend the energy breaking it down if we can just turn it off.

Evil GM

Just to clarify: The doors to the east and the one to the west are not energized.

My thought is to deactivate the door to the south first to see if there is anything there. If others want to take the east or west door, I am good with that.

Perception (east door): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15

Perception (west door): 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23

Dinetta checks the east and west doors, listening for anything behind and also to see if there are any traps apparent.

Evil GM

Both the West and East doors are unlocked and to your eye do not appear to be trapped. Dinetta you are certain the staff will turn off the force wall that covers the southern portal's door.

Working clockwise: The unlocked portal opens into a chamber featuring three transparent walls with small doors. These are holding cells where the Engineer keeps living prisoners until they are ready to be experimented upon and vivisected. The cells are currently empty.

Seeing that the room appears to be empty, Dinetta points to the door on the far wall.

Lets check the far door before we drop the wall of force. It might be designed to keep us out, or something else in. Better to make sure that there is nothing behind door number three so that we do not get flanked.

Proceed and open/check the east door.

This is the Engineer’s workshop. The room is filled with tables full of strange tools and devices. There are several large clear tanks of water and countless jellyfish. From what you can see it appears to be empty.

Meanwhile Jerome hesitates in the doorway unsure of himself.

Markus pushes past Jerome. His eyes scanning the room, he looks over the door and notices another gem lodged there. It looks like the one where the light beam was located.

jean and Revhi what are you doing?

Revhi, Jean, and Jerome are surprised when the portal into the workroom quickly closes.
