baldwin the merciful
"The Black Spot" An adventure of extradimensional depravity for four to six 5th level PCs Explore the wreck of The Flying Fortune, a ship impaled on the exposed tip of an underwater mountain with a waterfall of gold coins spilling from her shattered hull. Unravel the mystery of her vanished crew—the bloodstains, the shredded decking. Discover a dank and gaping hole in the stone peak that pierces the Fortune. Is it a natural opening? Or a tunnel crafted by arcane engines? It leads down, that much is clear. Down inside a hollow, underwater mountain—all the way to the ocean floor.

Jerome you notice various colored buttons the machine most are the same size, but there are a few smaller buttons lining the top row. These buttons line the entire machine.
M Human
Jerome behaves himself and does not press the button. Can others resist pressing the buttons?

You can definitely use profession sailor

Dinetta scratches her head as she examines the panel:
Anyone have a clue about this thing?
Knowledge(everything but engineering): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
After staring at the blinking lights for a few minutes, she looks to the others.
Pretty sure it is just a colorful display, assuredly just to confuse adventurers such as us.
When she gets the chance, she takes two taps from the healing wand, which removes most of the damage done by the Captain's treacherous stab.

Markus the poison runs it's course and your quickness returns by the time the body is searched. Revhi rambles about the black spot which Dinetta dismisses as she scans the machine with many buttons. it takes every bit of Jerome's self control not to push a key or two, but he manages to constrain himself. Meanwhile Jean kicks the captain's head around like it's ball, taking out his frustrations on the mutilated corpse.
After awhile Dinetta begins to examine the interior portal and she sees this door is locked.

Dinetta looks at the map that she has been sketching of the area they are on and then at the locked door.
Get ready all. This seems to be the end of this level. Either something big and bad is in here, or it an entrance to some other level, lower perhaps.
With that, she inspects the door for traps and the attempts to open it.

Marked as a traitor, no surprise there Marcus meanders over to the cool lighted organ thingy.
Nope not a clue, but then I never was much of a musician
Evil GM
Dinetta this door doesn't quite work like the others you've encountered. It has some bioarchanic lock on it and it does not recognize yoru hand print. You can try to bypass it, or you finger with enough whacking it can be destroyed.
Marcus meanders over to the organ thingy and together with Jerome stare at it.

Dinetta shrugs at Jean's thought:
Might as well try. There are others here two. Or, we can just smash it, might take a while though.
With that, she lifts the Captain's hand and places it on what appears to be the control pad.
Evil GM
To everyone's amazement Jean drags the headless body over to the portal and offered the small halfling it's hand. Reluctantly he lifts it, slapping the palm on the pad. The door hisses and opens.
You see a beam of light in the middle of an otherwise empty room. There are no other doors that you notice. Make perception check

What the...hey do you guys see that jade eye over there Marcus points out the eye
M Human
Evil GM
Once Marcus points out the small Jade eye everyone but Revhi notices what he's talking about. Meanwhile Revhi is finally looking in the same direction as the rest of you. He failed his initial check severely.
What are you all doing?

"What jade eye?.. Ah you've all gone made with the shivers." All the same, Revhi scans the area for magic.
Evil GM
The beam of light resonates magical qualities. Revhi it's similar to the one that was used to get onto this ship form the tunnel.
Female Human Cleric 6 | AC 19, Touch 11, FF 17 | HP 46/46 | F +5, R +2, W +9 | Init +1 (Jerome rolls twice) | Perc +5

Evil GM
Jerome you believe it is some sort of magical device similar to the one you all used to get into the tunnel to rest. There is light and it sort of looks similar to you. Although there is no noticeable door.
M Human
So maybe if we go towards the light, we will be taken someplace elsewhere in this building. Or all die, not really sure.
Evil GM
The light continues to shine. You all need to decide what you are going to do?
Female Human Cleric 6 | AC 19, Touch 11, FF 17 | HP 46/46 | F +5, R +2, W +9 | Init +1 (Jerome rolls twice) | Perc +5
"Hey, that's sure enough for me. But I ain't leadin'." She japes.

Unsure of what the light might do, Dinetta ties a torch to her rope and then tosses it into the light beam to see whether there is any strange effect.
Could we go farther down in the initial shaft?
She ponders as she watches the torch fly toward the light.
Evil GM
Dinetta tosses her torch into the light, it disappears and the rope is pulled quickly through your hands. I need strength check.

Seeing the rope disappear, Marcus wisely decides to follow it as it may lead to more salty snacks.
Ready all?
And he jumps in the light, what's the worse that can happen?
M Human
Onward to salty snacks!
Jerome grips his Rod of Extension in his hand and follows.
Evil GM
The rope snaps out of Dinetta's hands and completely vanishes. As soon as the rope goes both Marcus and Jerome leap towards. "Onward to..."
Dinetta and Revhi the light and your companions disappear.
