Baldur's Gate, Legacy of Bhaal-A Reimagining (Inactive)

Game Master Shadoven

Whether by birth, travel, or circumstances far stranger, you find yourselves at Candlekeep, summoned by the Mage and Scholar Gorion. Whether seen as a Father, a Friend, a Mentor, or even a Rival, all agree he is a wise man, whom has brought you here and asked you to gather your belonings, and prepare for an unknown, hushed journey into the darkness...

Mostly as an FYI to impart my commited interest I will let you know I am caught up on the gameplay and discussion threads so I can roll with the punche as far as shoehorning me if I seem like a decent fit.

Excellent! Speaking of which, to keep the ball very much in the players court, do either of you have suggestions or ideas of how you would like to meet with the current party? This is very much a player driven game so feel free to throw me ideas.

Well given the proximity to the woods and my character I could certainly b drawn to events simply due to proxiity. I do have a bit of the "defend those who cannot defend themseves" vibe going (not that the group is unskilld only that I would risk myself if they seemed outmaatched) it certainly feels right that I would try to help if I saw something going on..

Alteratively I did also take tke bounty hunter backgound so it not out of the realm of possibility that I also worked with with Gorin or know Qorin passingly as another half-rc i the same "industry" so if I happened to be at the entrance of Candlekeep or nearby that might another reason I am "known" or at least wiling to intially put my behind on the line.

If Ridel is near Candlekeep and he hears the sounds of fighting, I'm sure he would investigate at least.

Let me see what the players do next, and then I may go ahead and insert both of you. Oh by the way...consider yourselves in the game :)

But depending on what they do next it might be easier to insert you in just a moment. So, let them go through another round of posting and then I shall drop you in. Uruk, it is up to you if you know of Gorion or not, as well as Qorin. Certainly could not hurt, if Qorin is not opposed. Ridel, you will have to decide if you know anyone at all, or if this will be a chance encounter in the wilderness.

I'm sure it will be a chance encounter, mostly. But if I can recognize anyone as being from Candlekeep, it will probably go much smoother. :P

Well, that will just depend on you, and perhaps a History roll. We shall see as soon as the others post.

I think it would be safe to say I hve a passing relationship with Gorin and by that virtue Qorin and I know each other at least by reputation (if he is game). How many half-orc bounty hunters service Candlekeep? Uruk would certainly keep track of that sort of thing but I can play that part anyway Qorin likes.

It is certainly a rarity. Candlekeep normally has none, so you could have certainly heard of him. As for Gorion, you could have worked for him at some point, or met in the wild, or any number of other chance meetings.

If I read a book where the two half-orc bounty hunters in a town this size (I'm assuming it's fairly small) had never heard of each other, I'd be pretty skeptical. Qorin and Uruk may or may not be friends, but I'd have a hard time imagining that they hadn't spent a night or two drinking together.

If they are friends, Qorin will likely tease Uruk about being a weakling, acknowledging (in a backassward way) that Uruk's proven his mettle in a tough business despite what some would see as a debilitating injury.

I agree that the more you scrutinize the setting the more it is clear that the half-orcs would know another. It would probably be safe to assume that Uruk is convinced that Qorin isn"t "bad" but hasn't warmed up to "friend" just yet. Trust issues and all. : )

Uruk and Ridel, you are now officially in the game. Feel free to post.

I'm very happy to have two half-orcs in the party. Welcome Uruk and Ridel.

I'll just drop a line here saying that if you are ever recruiting again (forming up a new group or substituting a player) I'd love to get back to the Realms and use the D&D Next material. Good game everyone.

We have room for one more GM?

Up to 6 right? I like a party that size...just sayin ;)

We had 6 originally...

Rune, get a character up and lets take it from there :)

I've been accompanying your game thread and feel the writing quality in this group is really high! I'll have to up my game to get there, but if you guys give me a chance I promise I'll not disappoint.

I'll roll the abilities first, then will throw a couple concepts at Shadoven to see what sticks. For now, the group seems comprised of barbarian/ranger/wizard/druid/rogue, so I'm thinking a bard or cleric might fit just fine.

4d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 3, 3) = 13 11
4d6 ⇒ (4, 3, 2, 4) = 13 11
4d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 3, 5) = 19 16
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 5, 4) = 18 14
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 6, 6) = 19 18
4d6 ⇒ (1, 6, 3, 3) = 13 12

Wow, it's been many many years since I've rolled a natural 18!
