Good way of handling things.

We can walk around it like mad, but we have to find a name.
How about everyone says one name and the one name with the most nominations is the winner.
We have the:
The lions pride,
The (Destined)(Stalwart)Companions,
the chosen road,
the company of the sphinx
the dusty drakes
The golden Sphinxes
Dumah |
Well, I of course like the Dusty Drakes. It is alliterative and only three syllables, so it is easy to say. And Drakes makes for a good shortened reference to the members of the group.
Lion's Pride would be my second choice, for some of the same reasons. We could refer to ourselves as the Lions for short.
As much as Dumah as a character would love a sphinx reference, Sphinx and its plural don't roll off the tongue for me.
I guess with Chosen Road, we could call ourselves Roadies?

So, just a heads up. My grandma is currently hospitalized and doesn't have long while my mom is visiting her I am going to house sit for my parents, the house sitting shouldn't effect my posting habits too much, but after my mom gets back I will most likely be going to visit my grandma myself which probably will effect my posts. It's still a while away so we will see.

Just wanted to take a second and make sure everyone is on the same page as far as posting rules for this PbP game:
- Make at least one quality post per day Monday - Friday
- Saturday & Sunday are optional but we will all miss you terribly.
- If you do not post for 3 consecutive days (M-F) you will be given an official warning unless you have made arrangements prior. 3 Warnings and you will be replaced in the game. Again we would miss you but we can't move forward without all our wheels.
- If you do not post for a week straight (7 days, not counting Sat & Sun) without making arrangements then you will be removed from the game and replaced with another player. No exceptions.
If you have not posted in that long and have not let someone know your whereabouts we may issue a missing persons report but we will have to move on without you.
All the above are easily avoidable if you would just let us know in advance of extended abscesses, and times you can not post. Common courtesy goes a long way in both directions.
Now that we have got our feet wet and I am beginning to see the flow of the game I can let you know more about when I resolve player actions.
I resolve actions twice a day (7 days a week) when out of combat. Once in the morning. Usually around 9-10 am Central Standard Time and once in the evening usually between 9 - 10 pm Central Standard Time. This gives everyone a chance to do up to two actions that require GM response per day. I also check the discussion board regularly throughout the day M-F.
During times of combat, the initiative order will be divided into two groups (Before the enemy, After the enemy) and specific instructions for posting will be given at that time.
Only we as a group can make this a long lasting PbP game and all suggestions that you may have to help make the game more fun are always welcome.

Yesterday I discovered I have an abscessed tooth. I've been bouncing between pain and drug induced stupor. Having it removed tomorrow. Ill be able to catch up in the game aftet it's done. Expect a post tomorrow night or Tuesday.
Anset is a pretty quiet character anyway, so just assume he's following along with the group and keeping his mouth shut.
Apologies for the delay.

As a reminder (posted 18th July)
Just so you know: i'll be on vacations the two first weeks of August, without Internet the first week. Hope that won't harm the game.
I'll be on the road on 3d august, without any internet till the 10. And I'll of course try to spend more time with my family, but will do my best to post once per day.
I'll be back at home on 18th August, and will be able to post more.Anset Ossari |
Saedue should get the alchemist's fire. She gets to add her Int bonus to the damage with any grenade-like weapon.

Checking in. Really long day. Probably won't get a post in tonight. I'll catch up tomorrow.

I am worried about Amal. No post at all yesterday and nothing so far today. I don't know if he is dependable enough to play the rogue in this campaign. He has had multiple days where he hasn't posted already and the campaign is only 21 play days. (Counting M-F Only)
I don't mean to sound like a hard ass but it was clearly stated in the beginning that this was a once per day minimum posting campaign M-F.
Here is what I look at.. 21 required posting days since the campaign started.
Bjoern Post Count = 55 = 2.619 per day.
Dumah Post Count = 30 = 1.43 per day.
Amal Post Count = 13 = 0.62 per day (Basically once every other day.)
Anset Post Count = 16 = 0.76 per day (Basically two out of three days.)
Malik Post Count = 24 = 1.14 post per day.
Saedue Post Count = 27 = 1.29 post per day.
So I wanted to get everyone's opinion on Amal. Do we need to replace him or is everyone happy with his posting speed?
Anset Ossari |
My low post count is primarily due to my dislike of "filler posts" and the fact that I'm playing a pretty quiet fellow. I check the boards constantly. The only exception to that is Saturday, when I have limited internet access.
I apologize if my post count has delayed the game at all. That's one of the reasons I don't play scout characters in PbP anymore. I simply don't have the time to keep up anymore (that might change in a few months, but for now once a day is about all I can reasonably manage).
Its been my experience that in dungeon-crawl games, the scout role usually has to post 2-3 times as often as the rest of the group. There are some GM tricks to reduce the effort needed by a scout but they involve the GM making a lot of rolls for the character, and/or spoiling information in advance.
My suggestion, since we have another lock-picker in the party, is to let Bjoern take up the primary scouting role in any situation where stealth isn't a primary concern.

I apologize if I post so much. Before a work where I could check the postings often and at the moment without an assignement. Also, it is for me a way to work on my english and on my english writing skills.
If I post to much, please tell me.
Saedue Menura |
Will be away for most of tomorrow, on my way back to home after my holidays.
@Bjoern: you don't post too much. I enjoy role play, as a player or as a GM. And being French, I relate on getting better in writing/reading English by practise.

All the maps are drawn using a program called Dunjinni. I also post them in the AP threads for use by others when I am done. They can be printed off for tabletop use to scale (1" = 5') or there is a version for Virtual Tabletop as well.
So far I have done maps for:
Reign of Winter - Books 1 and 2 (Book 3 is in process now.)
Mummy's Mask - Book 1
Rise of the Runelords - Hook Mountain book
As far as the tokens go I use Paint.net and just use multiple layers. One for the map, one for the different light levels, a layer for each players token, light sources etc. By using the different layers then I can move each thing at will or remove it completely. Then I save that working file and just export the maps to jpg out of it to update for the game.

I'm feeling a little frustrated.
I lost my first round's action, which could have been to move while the thing was flat footed.
Then, I carefully set up a situation in which I could move and cast without risking an AoO (at the cost of Saedue's action, who so far seems to be the only one of us who can reliably damage this thing).
Instead of moving where I wanted to and getting my spell off, I have been unexpectedly forced to Double Move, negating my intentions entirely. Now I'm in danger of an AoO again if I cast this round.
If I had known Bjoern was going to be at B8, I would have moved to C8, not A8. I wasn't asked.
Between struggling with the rather unforgiving pace of the game and feeling like decisions are being made for me when the situation has turned out to be different than I thought it was, I'm finding myself not having much fun.
It is not my intention to drop the game. I just wanted to voice my concerns in hopes of figuring out a way to get back to enjoying the game.
bwatford |
The reason for moving you to A8 instead of C8 is simple. C8 was 25' from your previous spot which would have caused a double move anyway since your speed is currently at 20' so you would have not got to move and cast and it would have left you adjacent to the creature.
I also reasoned that you having watched the creature for a few seconds you would have realized it is attacking with a bite attack and does not have have a 10' reach so by moving to A8 you used the same amount of movement that was required for C8 except now you can heal without provoking.
If you would like, when you state your actions you can include a if statement in the wording for possible alternate outcomes.
The game is a 1 post per day Mon-Fri requirement. If you have not posted within that days combat I will not DMPC you during combat. Because then issues arrive with actions that I think your character might take that would get him/her injured or hurt. I will assume you are going full defense if you are threatened or otherwise not acting.
