I felt that with the size of the creature it would be impossible for Anset to come to me and heal me. So I engaged again hoping I could kill it fast.
Especially after the damage reduction.

The maps are great. The quality was such that I figured they were from the module. Excellent!

It is a pretty tough foe we got here, especially with that DR. Hopefully it doesn't have the hit points to back it up...

Hey guys, so start of my third year really took me by surprise. I had five assignments due within a week on the first day and two research projects to start. Then I decided to go and start dating a girl at the same time (which is going well, but made what little free time I had nonexistent) I hope I will manage to post in the gameplay thread when I get home tonight and that I am now on top of things enough that I can continue to post.

It has been over a week now since we have had a post from either Malik or Amal.

At this time I feel like we should replace both players in the game. Please give me everyone's opinion before I post in the recruiting thread.

I can either DMPC the current two until the group heads back into Wati then bring in new players or we can go ahead and swap them out now.

I also need to know what class types would you like to see recruited in their place. Do you want another arcane caster and a rogue?

Both type (arcane and rogue) could be helpful. You're the GM, so do as you wish. Being an GM myself in a game that has seen two defections, it's never an easy decision.

Well Bjoern is a decent trapfinder. Our Elf alchemist is our fountain of information. I think we can work with what we have.
BUT... What I really miss are people to keep the story flowing.

Saedue has decent Perception and Disable device bonus too (+6 on both). So maybe we could do without a rogue after all.

I agree with Bjoern, less people Rping hurts the game.


I have some really good RPers in my Way of the Wicked game, maybe I will see if we can get one or two of them over here.

Should we have a "go back to town" scene before continuing on with the next level? That seems like the smoothest transition to bring new people in.


The ideal candidate would be willing to take control of one of the two characters we are removing (Amal or Malik) until the group finishes exploring the current tomb (About 66% done) and then bring in their new character as soon as the group returns to town proper. This would be the best way for continuity of the game.

However I will play it by ear depending on what kind of response we can get.

That would be awesome. But on the other hand. It was written for four people. With a bit of luck we should be able to do it if it takes a bit longer.


Actually I get the benefit of having run this in my home game with six players so I have all the adjustments already figured out... lol.


I also would ask that all of you keep an eye on the recruitment thread for players submissions and let me know if any of the players you may know or stand out to you as a possible replacement into the group.

We also might get Tirion Jörðhár from my Way of the Wicked group. I think he knows Dumah already from another campaign they are in.

I met him once too, but he declined to join... saying to much already to do. But that was months ago.


I know Tirion from several games we've been in together, and if he has the time and is willing, I'd absolutely advocate bringing him onboard!


I have two new players for you guys, they will be along shortly. They will be taking over the roles of Malik and Amal until the current tomb is over and then they will switch out for their new characters when the group returns to town.

One is playing a Evoker Wizard and the other a Archaeologist Bard.

Amal, you are correct that you can ready the shield as a free action as part of a regular move only with BAB +1. So theoretically Bjoern would have had to: Drop his Flail (Free), Retrieve his shield (Move that provokes), and then ready his shield (Move that doesn't provoke) and then wait until the next turn to use it.

or the way I would have done it.....

Drop Weapon (Free), 5 foot step back (Free), Retrieve Shield (Move), Equip Shield (Move)

The coffin is large but doesn't have reach.

Well it takes enough time to sheathe a blade. Let alone string a hammer that provoking is normal. You'll leave yourself wide open trying to make sure its in place. Even then, that is utterly amazing on a human scale because of the speed this is apparently happening at (6 secs). Point is, changing fighting styles while fighting requires alot of work. I believe this was one of the reasons Thrower builds NEEDED Quick draw to function and why some TWF builds also have it.

In the end it does not matter. You are all correct, but in the end I stayed with flail. It happens if I post when just woke up, this time, or have to make a quick post at work. Now with loads of leasure time, I have the time and joy to write elaborate.. Lets continue saving poor Dumah. And I hope... it was worth it with a lovely dingdingding levelup ;-)

Hopefully, A level up would mean Raven would come in a little better off and some sweet sweet bonuses. Bjoern would get another feat, Saedue a discovery, Anset more spells, Dumah a feat. Everyone of course would have more HP and saves as well.. overall fairly nice (Oh and a nice payout from the tomb most likely.) Chances are thats not happening until maybe this tomb and a little further into the AP.
