Mulluq moves on relentlessly. His sword scores a wound across the mongrelwoman's arm but she fends off his jaws.
The other mongrelman tries to edge out of the way from the hole.
M9 tries to move. 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 He fails.
Init:
Mulluq 21+
Mongrelman 9 21-
Ghroth 18
Hannik 17
Kira 15
Rhok 14
Mongrelman 8 11
Mongrelman 5 7
Sol 5+
Jod 4
Mongrelman 6 3
Ghroth.
| Hannik |
Hannik traces another rune in the air and passes its power on to Rhok with a touch.
Ghroth whirls around claws slashing at the blue skinned mongrelwoman, but she ducks and dodges clearly anticipating his moves. His fanged tongue lances out like a spear, but slams into the wall behind her with a wet crunch. That had to hurt. He slurps it back up and seems stunned for a moment with a confused frown and mouth hanging half open.
Hannik, 5' step to I14
Cast Guidance on Rhok
Claw, PA: 1d20 + 5 + 1 - 1 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 5 + 1 - 1 - 1 = 6
Claw, PA: 1d20 + 5 + 1 - 1 - 1 ⇒ (8) + 5 + 1 - 1 - 1 = 12, Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 1 + 2 = 14
Slam, PA: 1d20 + 5 + 1 - 1 - 1 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 1 - 1 - 1 = 5
Nada, I'm sure.
Kira is up
| Kira Valerious |
Kira stoically keeps up her attack on the mongralman next to her.
Atk M6: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9(+1bab,+1str+1magic weapon) dmg: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9(+1 str, +1 magic weapon, +1 judgement)
Urgh, never good when your attack scores the same as your damage roll!
| Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |
Sol finds the glaive firmly in place. The scratching at the door, like a dog is trying to get out, is getting louder.
The mongrelman falls to Rhok.
M6 down.
The end of the battle draws near, but the mongrelfolk continue to defend their lair.
M5 attacks Ghroth.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 to hit, damage 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
M8 is still trapped in the hole and can't get out.
Sol, then Jod.
Sol Calondor
|
Sol spins toward Hannik. "Something's still trying to get through Jod's door. Follow the others."
Move to H13, although if he can get to H14 if Hannik moves, I'd prefer that square.
Jod's up.
| Jod Eastwind |
Jod moves around and through his allies to avoid the AoO and confront one of the mongrelfolk (M9); Jod will be in L17 after moving.
Power Attack: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22
Damage: 2d4 + 9 ⇒ (4, 1) + 9 = 14
| Hannik |
Sol- Maybe I misunderstood, but I don't have any means to clear out of the square you want until my next turn. You might do a reposition maneuver on me to get it and I wouldn't resist. Otherwise I'll move over when my init comes around.
Sol Calondor
|
Ithuriel, no hurry. I thought I'd ask in case Aubrey would just give us a simple maneuver like that. I just want to set Sol up so that when they come through the door, they can't get to Hannik without running a long way around Sol or receiving an AoO. The sooner we get out of this first room the better I think.
| Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |
| Mulluq'Tar Sheptat |
Sorry, my home computer went dead this weekend.
Mulluq just maintains his assault againt the blue-skinned mongrel, hoping to put the fight to and end. He rushes his swing, but that just puts him a little closer to snap with his large fangs.
Full-attack,
Longsword 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Bite 1d20 ⇒ 17, damage? 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
| Hannik |
Hannik goes with Sol's idea and hustles into the room creeping around the wall, sure to keep Ghroth between her and the action.
With mongrelmen dropping like flies Ghroth whips around to offer the last one standing his undivided attention.
Hannik
Move to L14
Claw, PA, + Guidance: 1d20 + 5 + 1 - 1 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 5 + 1 - 1 - 1 + 1 = 17, Damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 1 + 2 = 11
Claw, PA: 1d20 + 5 + 1 - 1 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 + 1 - 1 - 1 = 8
Slam, PA: 1d20 + 5 + 1 - 1 - 1 ⇒ (16) + 5 + 1 - 1 - 1 = 20, Damage: 2d6 + 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1, 1) + 3 + 1 + 2 = 8
| Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |
Ghroth hits the mongrelwoman with a claw, and then slams her in the face with a tongue shaped like a tooth-spiked football on the end of a gristly rope. Her head snaps back with an audible crack as her neck is broken, and she pitches back into the hole. There is a sound of scampering feet from below as the last mongrelman finally decides not to brave climbing into the chamber.
End of combat.
Sol Calondor
|
Sol looks around. At least the big room has a guaranteed escape route. He steps aside to make way for the real fighters heading for the glaive-jammed door.
12 of 17, but he's not a front-liner.
| Jod Eastwind |
I will wait to see if Rhok chooses to deliver healing first, but Jod will move over to the door, falchion in hand.
"Sol, you pull the glaive and get out of the way. If you want to use it to stab it from behind me, that's fine. I will stand in front of the door, the obvious target. You, wait alongside its shortest path to me and maybe it will focus on me and you can attack it as it goes past."
Picturing Jod in G12, Ghroth in G-H/14-15, Sol in I14 (he will have reach with the glaive even if he's not proficient), Mulluq will want to be by Jod, I'm sure, to take the brunt of the attack, so G13? Jod won't argue if the paladin wants G12 - he will move to G11.
| Mulluq'Tar Sheptat |
Mulluq is remorseful over the need for him to take the lives of anyone corrupted by the followers of evil, but he knows that unlike him they had a choice, and chose poorly. "Do not waste more healing on me. I have taken more than I should already from those more deserving of having their lives preserved longer. I am ready to face this next foe that lay beyond the barred door." He says a quick prayer to Iomedae, asking for forgiveness for any lives he may once more be forced to take in the name of good.
The formation works, though I would suggest it all be shifted one square North (except Sol), so we are more aligned with the door.
| Kira Valerious |
Kira seems to wilt a little as the energy of her Judgment leaves her, she keeps her spells active for as long as possible, but they eventually will fade.
"We should check they don't have anything we can use, healing potions or what not. Then I agree with the plan to take the door."
Would possibly make sense to switch Kira with Sol?
| Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |
Sol Calondor
|
Kira, are you proficient with a glaive, or have a higher attack bonus? If so, it makes sense that Kira assume the glaive and better attack position. Sol can switch to his bow, or wait. Where's the second glaive/?
Edit: glaives litter the field. Glaives for EVERYONE!
| Jod Eastwind |
Placement is fine. The original downward shift was because those characters "below" all had reach. Ghroth would be able to 5' step to get his additional attacks after the foe revealed itself. If he wants, Rhok could take H10, but I think the current positions are fine with the stated switch for Kira and Sol.
Sol Calondor
|
Sol swings his shield over his back and readies his bow by nocking an arrow. He glances at the hole in the next room to make sure the mongrelmen are staying down.
Since Kira gets I14, I'm supposing she's the one that pulls the glaive free and opens the door but that's really Nevynxxx's call.
| Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |
I think any effect timed in rounds will now have expired.
Ghroth reaches over and pulls the glaive away from the door and yanks it open. Two monitor lizards, the size of mastiffs with skins a faint pink, tumble out of the small room beyond and head to the attack.
OK, let's roll initiative again. Lizards 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
| Jod Eastwind |
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 I broke it, but it's still a square number!
"A shame. None of this is their fault."
It appears I will be going after everyone and everything else, so I will hold off before I attempt to formulate a plan.
Sol Calondor
|
Delay until there's an opening. I'm thinking Precise Shot could come in handy someday.
| Kira Valerious |
Kira also attacks the first lizard out of the door.
Atk L1: 1d20 + 2 - 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 2 - 4 + 1 = 1 (-4 because not proficient, +1 from guidance assuming I cast it before the door opened.) damage: 1d10 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
| Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |
Rhok pounds on the side of the nearest lizard, but Kira fumbles with her polearm, scraping the floors and the ceiling but not much else. So the lizards turn on Rhok and Ghroth.
Both shift 5'. L1 attacks Rhok, L2 attacks Ghroth.
L1 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 to hit, damage 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8. On a hit, you are grabbed - 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24 v Rhok's CMD - and poisoned - DC 14 v Fort, however, the onset is 1 minute so it probably won't come into play here
L2 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10 to hit, damage 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6. On a hit, you are grabbed - 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28 v Ghroth's's CMD - and poisoned - DC 14 v Fort, however, the onset is 1 minute so it probably won't come into play here
Saved the good d20 rolls for the wrong part of the attack...

Doglizards 9-

Ghroth 8+
Hannik 8-
