From under the platform flap three creatures. Initially they can be taken for oversized bats, but very quickly this impression proves false. Instead, they look like flying severed heads, with hair of writhing tendrils and a necrotic green glow spilling from their eyes and mouths. One opens its jaws unnaturally wide, revealing jagged, rotting teeth, while the other swoop at Hudak.
Resolve Vethran's readied action (though he is looking up, rather than under the platform, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt - after all, in cricket, the batsman is always given the benefit of the doubt by the umpire).

Alwyn Agnarrson |

Knowledge (arcana) 7+2=9. Nah.
Three-armed mutant goblins. Dress-wearing, bejeweled demons the size of gophers. Twisted ragebeasts that steal your emotions. And now fanged, flying heads. Alwyn shakes his head in astonished disbelief as the bizarre enemies close in. This is awesome! I wish the elders could see me now.

Vethran Tallomane |

Vethran notices the creatures sweep up from beneath the platform and his eyes go wide as he hastily releases another chilling beam from his fingers. The blast goes wide, however, and Vethran calls out to his companions.
"Vargouilles! Beware their kiss!"
Got a nat 20 on the Knowledge check, but only an 8 on the attack roll. Does the nat 20 on the check (total result of 28) let me know what needs to be done if one of these things "has it's way" with one of us?

Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |

(It does.)
The creature with the open jaws gives a blood-curdling shriek, and magical power washes through the group.
(DC 12 Fort save or be paralysed for 2d4 rounds. Once the saves are resolved the other two will attack.)
(Can I have the marching order please, so I know where you are standing in the corridor?)

Illes Elandru |

Fort: 15+2 = 17
I assumed we were using one of those predetermined marching orders for 5 and 10 foot wide corridors. Either way leaves me at the back.
EDIT:
BTW- If any of you fail the save I'll counter it on my turn. Has to be a 'sonic or language dependent magical attack' and my perform skill beats that save before I even pick up the die.

Dravite Schorl |

1d20+4=23
Ye wanna be kissin' me ye best be buyin' a pint fer me first, ya screaming hellspawn!

OK - setting the scene:
The party is currently arranged down the corridor in the order given. I won't bother giving the corridor coordinates - you can only go forward and back.
The platform is 15' by 15', and set against the south wall of the room. Stairs down lead into the room itself, which is 35' by 40'. An elevated walkway leads from the platform to a door in the east wall. The ceiling over the platform is sufficiently high that the vargouilles (sp?) can fly over the top of people and attack from above, but not so high that they would not take AoOs by doing so. Same in the corridor.
In coordinate terms, the squares run A to G west to east, and 1 to 8 north to south. The platform is at C-E/6-8, the stairs run down C/4-5 and the walkway is F-G/6. The doorway into the room is at D8, the other doorway at the end of the walkway is at G6. The monsters are at B5, D4 and C4.
I'll assume Hudak is at the front. The one at D4 did the shrieking.
Two of the creatures, flanking the shrieker, sweep in to bite at Hudak. One fails to get close, but the other sinks its fangs into his face, its wings flapping about his face.
The two nasties are now at C8 and D8. Hudak takes 3 points of damage and must make a DC 12 Fort save (against poison, not paralysis).
Initiative rprised and updated:
Vethran 20 (p?)
Flappings things 18
Dravite 17 (s)
Illes 15 (s)
Larken 14 (p)
Hudak 14 (s)
Lo'j 10 (s) (p)
Alwyn 9 (s)
Elisile 6 (p?)
(s) = surprised
(p) = paralysed
(p?) = still awaiting save against the shriek
Have to see what the saves are to see who goes next - if the dice fall badly, it could be the vargouilles again (heh heh..). I must confess to being slightly disappointed that Hudak made his paralysis save - I was looking forward to heaping further indignity upon him by his being snogged by a otherworldly monstrosity. I had the description ready and everything.

Elisile Starbrow |

OK - so Elisile is out of the picture. It's down to Vethran - does he save?
I hope so ... I'm scared.
Kinda sucks that so far all those that weren't surprised are paralysed - and that the save is Fort based, not Will based (not that it would have made much difference for me with a roll of 4.
Vethran Tallomane |

Save: 16 + 1 = 17. Yay! I don't know everyone's positions, so I'm going to speculate here. Sorry for the long wait, but the site's been screwy for me today.
Vethran, seeing the two shrieking terrors move to strike at the Shoanti, quickly steps into position and intones a spell.
"Get down!" the mage states emphatically as he releases a massive gout of flame at the two airborne menaces.
Moving to C6 and casting burning hands to the south. It should hit squares C7 & B-D/8. It may also ignite the rickety wooden platform but, eh, that's half the fun of being a pyro mage. I think I avoid hitting any of the party members this way. I've got Hudak in D7.

Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |

Am I failing to describe the scenes properly? By my map, this is another impossible manoeuvre from Fatey, as (1) Hudak is in the corridor, not at D7 and (2) the route into the room is blocked by two vargouilles - at the very least, that is two AoOs and they are kind of at head height since it's Hudak's head they are eating. Please reconsider your actions this round.

Aubrey the Demented/Malformed |

OK, based on my above post, Vethran's actions would probably get him killed. So....
Vethran fires off his last Ray of Frost but, as with the other, doesn't hit his target. One of the vargouilles flies over Hudak before he can react, and it slams face-first into Larken. The creature's tongue squirms like a half-rotted snake across the boy's paralysed face, clearly trying to get into his mouth but somehow failing to insert itself between his lips. The other two attack Hudak, one scoring his cheek with its fangs.
Lucky Larken - the vargouille actually failed its attack roll on a paralysed target. You may assume the creatures occupy a space above the character and so can manoeuvre above the PCs in the corridor, but they are within melee range. The characters either side of Larken can attack it freely.
Hudak - 1 point of damage and a DC 12 Fort save. Now Dravite.

Dravite Schorl |

Dravite tries to hook the one attacking Larken but has to pull up short as he sees that the angle would've hit his companion. 1d20+6=7
Dang flyin' heads! Ye be lookin' fer a hookin'!!!

Illes Elandru |

Illes brings his flute to his lips and suppresses the paralyzing shrieks with a Varisian travelling song.
Countersong (Su)
A bard with 3 or more ranks in a Perform skill can use his music or poetics to counter magical effects that depend on sound (but not spells that simply have verbal components). Each round of the countersong, he makes a Perform check. Any creature within 30 feet of the bard (including the bard himself) that is affected by a sonic or language-dependent magical attack may use the bard’s Perform check result in place of its saving throw if, after the saving throw is rolled, the Perform check result proves to be higher. If a creature within range of the countersong is already under the effect of a noninstantaneous sonic or language-dependent magical attack, it gains another saving throw against the effect each round it hears the countersong, but it must use the bard’s Perform check result for the save. Countersong has no effect against effects that don’t allow saves. The bard may keep up the countersong for 10 rounds.
MA: No Move.

I never saw what squares people were placed in, so I didn't know how we were arranged. The ray of frost works for my action. Tomorrow, I will be back in the office and can get my maps updated. Could someone please let me know what squares everyone is in so I can keep my Excel map straight? Thanks!

Elisile Starbrow |

Assuming the corridor is 5 foot wide (I think it is?), Hudak is at D9, Dravite at D10, Larken at D11 (with a Vargouille above him), Alwyn at D12, Lo’j at D13, Elisile at D14, Vethran at D15 and Illes at D16 (Actually, I’m not sure how long the corridor is; it was described as short, so the last three or four people might actually be back in the other room with the statue).

Hudak |

Hudak turns his hideously venom-wracked face towards Dravite, a trickle of bloody tear running down his cheek from an eye nearly swollen shut. "Mnuuuuuuumnuuur!" is all that is able to pass his lips cracking and bursting like overcooked sausages. "Fffffmnuuuuh!"
