Leveled.
Took fleet for 5 feet more movement in light armor.

ROFL! Six charges off my CLW wand gets Hudak back to full speed (and restores his teeth). Four more charges gives Camlo 22 hp back. Are anyone else hurt?

"We should drag the burnt ogres out of the corridor. The bloodstains probably won't arouse much suspicion, but even ogres are bound to notice a pair of dead guys lying in the middle of the thoroughfare."

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

Camlo levelled. Taken two weapon defence as a feat, got 4 more hit points (1d8=4)...

Camlo looks up at Alwyn as he feels the wash of healing pass over him. "Th-th-thank you, my friend, I think, I should, ah, acquire one of those, at my earliest, ah, opportunity...."

Male Human (Varisian) Wizard (Evoker) 9

So, everyone cool with a 15-minute rest to load up on spells?

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

I find it difficult to imagine we will have that fifteen minutes, I’m not certain we will even have those few rounds Alwyn took to heal everyone before someone comes to investigate. Maybe I’m just being pessimistic.
The extra spells Veth will get will definitely serve us well, so it might be worth the try.

Male Human (Varisian) Wizard (Evoker) 9

Vethran retreats to the relative safety of the stairwell they entered from and takes a seat, cracking open his spellbook and begins making furious notations, occassionally muttering some arcane sequence or half-intelligible phrase in some long-forgotten language.

I suppose Aubrey will let me know if my attempt is interrupted.

You have time.

By the way, the main ogre you killed had a nice ogrehook (if they can be called nice) and hide shirt, and a potion.

Male Human (Varisian) Wizard (Evoker) 9

Spell slots filled. Added a true strike in my extra 1st-level slot, then dropped black tentacles, another fireball, and two empowered scorching rays in my new 4th-level slots!

The horror, the horror....

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

We could try to wait; I'll take position up towards front of that hallway.

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

At some point while Veth is studying, and after the ogre bodies have been dragged out of the hall and some attempt at clean up has been made, Elisile will ask one of the others to take a spell at keeping watch, and cast detect magic on all three ogre bodies in the torture chamber room.

Spellcraft on hook: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21
Spellcraft on hide shirt: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (5) + 16 = 21
Spellcraft on potion: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (12) + 16 = 28

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Alwyn gets bored as Elisile and Vethran fiddle with their incomprehensible arcane magics. Deciding that this is neither the time nor place for a game of craps, he sits down next to Camlo instead. "So, tell us a little about youself, willya?"

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

When we’re ready to move on, lets try the door at G6. Same deal, the others hang back 10 or fifteen feet, Elisile and Camlo approach stealthily (stealth:1d20 + 14 ⇒ (8) + 14 = 22), check out the door (perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32), then Elisile stands with bow ready while Camlo tries to get it open.

Oh and we’ll glance up the stairs as we pass them, before we do the door, make sure nothing is on its way down.

Male Human (Varisian) Wizard (Evoker) 9

Vethran nods, chuckling quietly to himself and stands up, book in hand. Dusting himself off, he ascends the stairs after the studies are completed. "All set and ready to go! I'm eager to try out this new spell I've been working on and I think I'm finally ready to use it!"

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

Camlo will have a look over the room the ogre was in too, while the others are getting done. Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29

As per Elisile's plan...
Stealth: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (7) + 22 = 29
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21

This may have been a bedroom of some kind. It is hard to tell as it has been ransacked and trashed.

Nothing interesting, do not detain yourselves.

A glance up the stairs indicates no further assault. They seem to end at a landing but nothing else can be seen from down here.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

"So, do any of you want to go up a floor?"

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

"Hell yeah."

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

Elisile shrugs. “There’s a certain sense in making sure this floor is clear of enemies first. On the other hand, anything that did not hear our earlier battle probably isn’t going to hear anything happening upstairs.”

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

"I just assume the rangers' commanders were housed up there - most likely the ogre leaders took their quarters. So this might be the quickest way to eliminate the ogre leadership. Maybe we'll find this Mokmurian character up there as well."

HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5

"Alwyn, we seriously do not want to find this Mokmurian character up there. If he's got it together enough to command the allegiance of those two snake women and a fort full of ogres we don't want to meet him right here right now. You don't command the respect of ogres by witty repartee, I've tried that. They have to know you'd be able to snuff them out if they don't toe the line. If it was just gold they would end up killing you for whatever you had on hand. Generally too stupid to put a lot of thought into long term arrangements."

"Ogres though, we can deal with. Our strategy could use some work though. If we go up there and let them surround us we're finished. Have to choose the field of battle to your advantage when fighting giants."

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

"Ah, so we should look around for low ceilinged rooms?" Camlo says, trying to be witty. "I suspect that things are large as ogres would have trouble with human sized upstairs rooms. I may be wrong, but I hope there will be few, if any up there."

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

"Point taken. Let's exterminate anything down here first."

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

Let’s move onto door F9 then, same drill as before, Stealth:1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31, Perception:1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25

This room is a twenty-five foot square. The ramshackle area is a mess of smashed tables, broken crockery, and rubble. No living thing stirs here. A doorway lies ajar in the opposite wall.

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

Camlo will sneak over for a listen...

Stealth: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (5) + 22 = 27
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19

Camlo hears nothing. Peering through, he finds what might have been a kitchen. It is in shambles, as if a cyclone had moved through the room, smashed every bit of furniture, bent every bit of silverware, and partially collapsed the stone fireplace. Beyond another door is a pantry. All that remains in this room is a half-smashed crate and an untouched barrel.

Male Halfling Rogue/11 AC:26 HP: 92{92}

Camlo is getting a prescient feeling that there is nothing down here...

Your spidey sense is clearly tingling.

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

“Perhaps our first instinct was correct; any enemies left on this floor would surely have come at the sounds of battle – these ogres do not seem intelligent enough, or have enough self preservation to hide or set up a complicated ambush. Let us go upstairs instead as Alwyn suggested.”

Sound ok? If so, up the stairs, Stealth: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31, Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

"Aye...I'm game."

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Grinning broadly, Alwyn walks back towards the stairs.

It is. I'm not my normal even-keeled, profoundly insightful self. :D

Indeed, Camlo follows right behind.

Stealth: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (14) + 22 = 36
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (13) + 12 = 25

Both the items are +1 except for the potion (obviously) which is Cure Moderate Wounds.

The stairs lead up to a corridor running north-south, with the stairs emerging at the north end. On the east and west walls are double doors. At the southern end the corridor turns west and on the southern wall is a single door. Muffled ogrish voices can be heard from the the rooms around, though none of the giants come out to greet the new arrivals.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Alwyn pulls Hudak aside while the quieter party members scout out the stairs. "If I'm right, you'll need to kick major giant ass up there. Here's a little something to help."

This seems like the time to prep a little. I'm casting Bull's strength and Protection from evil on Hudak, boosting his STR by 4 and his AC by 2. I'll also cast Shield of faith on myself, boosting my AC by 3.

Male Human (Varisian) Wizard (Evoker) 9

Following Alwyn's lead, Vethran entones a protective spell as well.

Casting protection from arrows on myself. DR 10/magic vs. all ranged attacks for 7 hours. In case they throw rocks at me or something. You never know.

hp 87 of 87; effects active: mage armour (AC 22); gravity bow, flame arrow Female Elf Wizard (Transmuter) 6 / Ranger 1 / Eldritch Knight 4

Elisile tiptoes back down the stairs to tell the others what is above, then whisper-weaves a few spells over herself cast Cats Grace and Shield. Then, with Camlo, sneak 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29 over to the nearest doors on the east and west walls, and listen 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22.

HP 78/67, AC 26, T 14, FF 23, CMD 21 Performance 37/37 CHA DAMAGE: 5

"Come here you Shoanti brothers." Illes unfurls a scroll and sings it aloud gesturing to one and then the other. "No matter what happens that song will imbue you with some of the skills of your ancestors for the next half an hour. My own songs work only as long as I keep singing them. Facing a fort full of ogres I think a back up plan is in order."

Looking back down at his scroll he says, "Well, I'm not quite sure what this next song turns you into, but I've been holding onto it long enough now and we could use some help." As the others are casting he begins to sing it into life. Mid-song his pupils elongate like a cat or snake and his skin takes on a greenish hue. By the time the song comes to a close Illes is a hairless scaled bipedal lizard with a spiky crest running down his back all the way to the tip of his tail which he has to wriggle out of his pants to let free. He looks down at his clawed fingers and arms in surprise. "I'm part dragon! Yeah! Wonder if I can breath fire or something like that?" He turns away from the others and tries to vomit up some fire a few times. "Maybe not. Okay, just a few more and we take the fort!"

Since the material component for alter self is now a piece of the creature you want to become, scrolls are probably technically keyed to one creature. I never specified what I bought so I just rolled for fun.

Heroism (scroll) +2 morale attacks, saves, skill checks, 30 minutes, Hudak and Alwyn
Alter Self (scroll) 1d23 ⇒ 13 = lizardfolk
+2 size bonus to Str, 3 minutes. Illes
Eagle's Splendor (scroll) +4 Cha, 3 minutes, Illes
Cat's Grace (scroll) +4 Dex, 3 minutes, Vethran and Camlo (if Camlo has items or anything in effect to make that redundant I'll apply it to Illes instead)

I'm not going to max out the bardic until we see the ogre chief or things get desperate. Heroism will be overlapped when I do, but Hudak and Alwyn will be close to my max enhancement both before and after.
Also 7th level means I can start bardic performance as a move action now.

"If any of you want to fight giants as a giant, I can arrange that." Illezard taps one of the wands in his wand holster with a claw.

OK, here's the set-up. You are in the upper part of the keep, which is circular (though it isn't obvious yet from where you are standing) and abuts the cliff outside. So, A to N across the top, 1 to 14 down the side.

The stairs run up I-L/2. The main corridor is at G-H/1-8, and then turns to A-F/7-8. The double doors are at G/4-5 and H/7-8. There is also a door at G8 (facing south) and another at A8 (facing west).

Those are pretty much the only features you can see at the moment.

Need a Stealth and a Perception roll from Camlo (assuming he wishes to go, which I assume he does). I assume you are listening at the doors at G/4-5. If your Perception checks are 15 or greater:

Spoiler:
You hear the sound of movement behind the door, percepts a large creature moving slowly.

Stealth: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (11) + 22 = 33
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19

Camlo mimes a big hulking thing, and then prepares like last time, to open the door for the others to throw themselves through.

Ready? One, two, three...

I guess you guys will get a surprise round, so I will need initiatives and positions.
