Elisile will move to F7 and ready an action to shoot any bad guys that come through the doors at the end of the corridor.

Hudak.

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

I'm confused. Spell.

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

Can I dice it? If so,
1d100 ⇒ 61

I deal 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 h.p. to myself with the flat of my bastard sword to the forehead.

Alwyn's up.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Alwyn continues to chop at the sorceress.

No move. I'm using Power Attack (I'm out of Destructive Smites). Attack roll 10+9+3(bard)+2(Heroism)-2(Power Attack)=AC 22, damage 3d6+6(STR)+1(weapon)+3(bard)+6(PA)=27.

Alwyn ends the fight with a brutal cut across the neck, half-severing the ogress' head.

End of combat.

Dravite:

Spoiler:
Fort Rannick is perhaps a quarter of a mile away. It is pretty much as mapped by Vale. It lies beneath a high cliff which rises, sheer and virtually unclimbable by mundane means, up the side of Hook Mountain. A narrow trickle of a waterfall falls like a spangled ribbon from the heights to a pool which empties into a stream which runs round the walls of the fort before heading off south-east. A narrow switch-back path can be made out leading partway up the cliff to a ledge, although no movement can be seen along its length and a huge pile of rubble lies at its foot in the fort's bailey.

Of the two gates, the east gate looks badly bashed, the doors leaning precariously, while the south gate seems relatively undamaged but blocked by a portcullis. The walls are pitted, both by age and the more recent attentions of the ogres. Although there doesn't seem to be much activity, a few huge lumbering figures can be made out moving around inside the fortress.

OK, got a plan?

male Human Shoanti Fighter 10 xp 80962

Am I still confused?

Everyone except Dravite:

Spoiler:
Are you ever not? But in spell terms, someone holds you down for a minute until it passes.

I'd like to go to spoilers as Dravite is currently working his way in.

Everyone except Dravite:

Spoiler:
3,200xp each. Also, you find on looting the bodies:
- a wand
- an amulet
- a cloak
- a large hide shirt
- two ogre hooks
- bracers
- a belt
- three potions

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Main party:

Spoiler:
"Hah! And stay down!" Alwyn kicks the dead ogre's body halfway across the room with evident satisfaction before returning to the doorway to take a closer look at Jaws. "Yet another victory for brains, puissance and good looks. Are anybody hurt?"

Spoiler:
I'm down 23 h.p.

Dravite is gonna attempt to sneak up to bashed-up gates to peek inside.

Main Group:

Spoiler:
“I am uninjured,” answers Elisile, still watching the other door, although she glances briefly at the slain ogre corpses. “These ones for tough and competent for ogres. It may be that we have slain the leaders of this band.”

Doesn’t look like Veth is going to need any help IDing the magical items, but if he misses anything Elisile can have a shot at it.

“Are you well, Hudak?” she adds, gazing at the shoanti through the inscrutable eye-pieces of the Medusa Mask, having noticed that the warrior appears to have bashed himself in the face.

Male Human (Shoanti) Cleric 11

Main party:

Spoiler:
I'll burn Lesser restoration and two CLW wand charges - 2d8+7=15, 2d8+2=9. Thus, Hudak is back to full hit points.

As Alwyn finishes patching up Hudak, he shrinks back to normal size. "I hope you're right. I'd hate to face fighters like these out on open ground, such as the courtyard. That must be our next destination, I'm afraid."

Are there any windows with a courtyard view? Vethran could really do a number on the guys outside if he could hit a group with a fireball or two.

Male Human (Varisian) Wizard (Evoker) 9

Main party:
Well, two fireballs is all I have, but a black tentacles combined with some ranged attacks could certainly wreak havoc. I'm not adverse to using some of my artillery (why would I prepare spells I don't intend to use?) but I have no idea how much more fighting is left, so best not to blow it all prematurely.

Spoiler:
sounds good.

Dravite:

Spoiler:
Dravite moves stealthily through the woods before creeping towards the north gate. A twenty-foot tall gatehouse surrounds the two badly battered doors that barely look as if they are on their hinges. In the gap in between, Dravite can see the large pile of rubble that seems to have been piled up behind. From the other side of the gate he can hear a tuneless humming.

Re: Lesser Restoration - didn't Aubrey say a bt back that I needed a proper Restoration to get my WIS back?

Main party:

Spoiler:
Yes, I did - he (and anyone else suffering WIS damage) took drain, which is permanent and requires Restoration.

Male Dwarf Ranger/7 XP- 35674

Dravite will peek around the door to see if there is just one guard or if the sucky whistler has backup. If the guard is alone Dravite will try to take him out with a ranged barrage if he is a large giant of some sort.
1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 221d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
If first attack hits-(2 arrows) 2d8 + 32 ⇒ (3, 8) + 32 = 434d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 1, 1) = 13
second attack- 1d8 + 16 ⇒ (1) + 16 = 172d6 ⇒ (6, 5) = 11
The breakdown- +4dmg favored enemy, +1/+3 str Giant Bane bow(+2,+2d6), Big game Hunter (+1atk,+2dmg).

So if both attacks hit, 3 arrows for 84 dmg.
I hope I can take him down without him raising an alarm.

Spoiler:
OK, you are busy milling about up there. Where are you going now?

Dravite:

Spoiler:
The ogre doesn't get a chance to even yell out as Dravite's carefully aimed arrows plunge into the back of its skull. It splawls on its back, the skull it was playing with rolling from its hand.

By the way - going to spoilers.

AubreyDM-

Spoiler:
Dravite looks into the courtyard to try to determine if there is some way he can sneak in and get to the main keep without raising an alarm. He thinks he is pretty stealthy and is thinking that the party is probably in the main structure. Is there anything he could use to create a distraction? Perhaps some horses to free that can run around and distract the idiotic giants while he sneaks into a position near the keep?

Dravite:

Spoiler:
Well, the horses have all been eaten. In fact, everything (and everybody) has been eaten, more or less.

Camlo: Cat's grace - +4 DEX
Elisile: Cat's grace, Shield - +4 DEX, +4 AC
Hudak: Bull's strength, Protection from evil, Heroism - +4 STR, +2 AC, +2 attack bonus
Alwyn: Heroism - +2 attack bonus
Ogre 11
Illes: Alter self, Eagle's splendor - +2 STR, +4 CHA

Dravite:

Spoiler:
Dravite climbs cautiously over the gate, eyes open for trouble.

OK, to your right is an abandoned stables, a crumbling tower and what looks like a collapsed tunnel, all abutting the cliff. Dead ahead is the keep, though the entrance is largely facing away from you. To the left is the curtain wall and against that is what looks like a ruined cook house, smoke curling up from it. A bit further on, closer to the keep, is what looks like an barracks building of some kind, but beyond there it is obscured by the buildings. You can't see the other gate from here.

You think you can hear ogre activity in the old tower, and can see an oge bumbling about in the cook house - he hasn't seen you.
