I'm back. What a week from hell.
2 tests done.....I "love" that I can do the accounting, but entering "show your work" answers on a computer on double declining balance depreciation then showing the income statements for 3 years with a 3.5 hour window is discombobulating to say the least.

Hello,
I think I'm going to take a hiatus for a while from pbp.
I have so much crap to do that when I get free time I'm a zombie and can't hardly function, or I spend a long bit figuring out what the hell is happening and every time I get back into it, guess what: it's time to flake off again for a week.
In the future when I seem to be able to be involved with this form of gaming in some sort of fruitful way I'll let everybody know and see what/where/when is good to pick up the pieces and go on.
But, I am at least putting my pbp games on hiatus for the nonce.
I will check back in whenever I'm not so damn busy that I can pay rudimentary attention to what the hell I'm doing.

Guys, I'm thinking of running a Wrath of the Righteous PbP here. I say "thinking" because it would be an additional commitement of time, albeit I don't plan anything that would be at much variance to the scenarios as written. Would people be interested? I'd be looking for the usual six or so players.

Ok then, I'll set up a Discussion thread. We'll see if we need to recruit depending on the response to this.
Indeed, here it is.

Have to give it some time to see I guess. So many people voted for Syriza while openly hoping they wouldn't actually do all of the crazy things they campaigned on. Many people believed they would instantly moderate if they won. Now we'll see. It is weird to see a leftist party whose big revolt is to try to undue all of the recent changes and basically promise to go backward in so many ways. I don't see how they could back down on trying to get out of the austerity measures though. It is really the core of their platform and everything else is built around it. If they cool towards that too quickly everyone will turn on them.
I am a little surprised that Golden Dawn came in 3rd again considering so many of their elected officials have been convicted and are in prison.
I should also say there were no good viable choices in the election. The other main party at this point is the one who was the primary engineer of cooking the books and putting Greece in the position it is in. The party which used to be the other main power in Greece was utterly destroyed by being the ones who found out about it while auditing the government after the election in 2008 and being in power when austerity was introduced. They went from taking 40% of the vote to something like 4%.
It opens the possibility that we might move to the states depending on how things shake out. We were planning a trip to London in a couple weeks or so, but we'll have to see how fast the EU is ready to give us the boot ;)
Random aside- Mrs Ith went shopping like a survivalist before the elections loading up on dry goods and stuff just in case there is a period of mass chaos and shut down of imports for a currency transition.

You UK guys have any favorites for kids (3-4 years old) that we shouldn't miss on this trip? Our guy is about 2 months from being 4 and has pretty much the classic interests of dinosaurs, robots, cars and trains. We'll probably hit the Natural History Museum a couple of times, but what else tops your list? We'll be staying in South Kensington.

The Transport Museum in Covent Garden is fun. James is a train nut and they have bus and train simulators in there. Frankly, he enjoys the rides on the Tube almost as much. The Docklands Light Railway is also fun - as it is driverless, you can sit at the front and see where the train is going (it is mostly above ground). There is also the Emirates Cable Car over the river in east London. If he likes steam trains, there are probably plenty of volunteer-run ones around outside London - an internet search will do wonders, but the Bluebell Line in Kent (or Sussex) might be nice, especially as it can be combined with a visit to National Trust stuff.
How long are you around for?

We'll probably stay in the city. I like the idea of seeing some countryside, but we have a hotel so anything we we did would have to be a day trip only and I suspect we might be too lazy to get out of London. We'll see. Honestly at this point this is the least amount of planning we've put into any trip. I'll have a couple of days off before we leave and will make some plans at that point.

Hah! She would have been very polite about it but Aubrey would have seen the zoned out, nod at the appropriate time, routine that most work talk rightly earns me.
For a while at a different job here in Greece I worked with a very nice guy who, once he realized I was also a gamer, would regale me with endless stories about ongoing or past games. I liked the guy but damn... It was an experience I'll avoid sharing with all of you in the future if we should meet. ;)
