Here's a headline you don't see every day:
Eagle carries off policeman's kangaroo

Guys, I've had a player drop out of my OTHER Eberron campaign at very short notice and was wondering if anyone was interested in stepping in. The intention with this one is to go mythic, using the mythic rules but in the context of Eberron. Currently the PCs are about to go attack the enemy's secret base in a volcano, so there might be a little delay bring in a new character. Also, there might be limited options as to what will work in the context of where the game is now, but I'm interested to hear any ideas should anyone be interested.

Guys, I will be out of action for a week to a week or a half from tomorrow. Please NPC my character as necessary in my absence.
Elisile got a 36 on perception, she will stay alert for the forge fiend or other trouble. If there’s another fight before I get back, she will use her bow by preference, using whatever archery feats seem appropriate for the situation. Her gravity bow spell should last another 7 minutes or so, so it may still be up and running for the next fight.
Enga will rage and attack.

See you soon Mothman.
Any of you guys try the Pathfinder Adventures app? Its the card game. I've been playing through it on free mode so far and have made it up to the interior or Thistletop, but have only Kyra and Merisiel as it is the free version. Its fun an a little addictive, but it took me maybe 3 games to figure out what the hell I was doing.

I haven't looked into that, but I know it doesn't work on iPhones. I think I heard someone say it works on android. Anyway, yeah I only play it at home but once you get the hang of it you can clear a level in about 30 minutes. It's fun, and I likely never would have tried the card game any other way. I actually have the skull and shackles box of the card game that I grabbed out of curiosity but I was never sure I understood how to play it. Also set up takes a long time for the table version.
At some point they will add multiplayer, but I think that is a ways off.

At risk of telling the same folks the same thing repeatedly, I will share this here, as well.
I will be traveling next week, but expect to have access to post in the evenings. A little jaunt to try new cycling trails that have been built on retired railbeds. Primary concern right now is the storms that seem to be a nightly occurrence in that part of the country.

Sefayll Valerian |

We had awesome weather and great trails. And too much food, all of it quite good. Ended up with 83 miles covered in four days and no mechanical issues.
All in all, a fantastic cycling vacation for us.

Yeah a nice weekend with lots of sun. Spent a nice day taking boats across Windemere (England's largest body of water, 10 miles long, 1 mile wide.......) and eating ice cream. Then spent 8 hours (yes) running a marathon with 3,400ft of climb in 25 degree heat..... Yesterday was not a normal day ;)
A good weekend though.

We are leaving for vacation today (Mississippi to see my folks, New Orleans because it is nearby, New York for fun and friends, and Pittsburgh for friends and to look into a job opportunity. Other than travel days I don't imagine I'll be all that absent, but if you find yourselves waiting for me go ahead and npc my guy.

It's a disaster. I've been working from home today so don't know much about the general vibe but from those I've spoken to, we are not happy. I'm pretty furious, especially as I expect members of my family probably voted to leave without really thinking about its potential impact on me and my family. I'm just disgusted with my fellow countrymen. It's not often two politicians come on the telly and the one whose lights I want to punch out ISN'T the guy from the Scottish Nationalist Party (though the other guy was Boris Johnson's dad and, as far as I can tell, he's as much of a c*nt as his son).
So yeah, I'm not too sure what the future holds now. In a sense, the passporting thing with regards to financial services, which is a bit of EU regulation that underpins a lot of activity in the City where I work, isn't such a bit deal for a company which already has a big presence in Europe. I'd be more concerned if I was working for an American bank, since they might swap a lot of their operations to Europe (and JP Morgan has already said as much). But the City as a whole could go into long term decline. There are a lot of unknowns about this, so it's too early to (1) emigrate or (2) hang myself, but the fact that we have all of this uncertainty is so unnecessary, and it will last for years. And if they screw things up, the country will be a complete mess. So I'm not too happy.
It's interesting in that it leaves politics wide open now. I really could not bring myself to vote for a Conservative party run by Boris Johnson, and I am a dyed in the wool Conservative. I can't imagine too many people in my situation will view them very favourably either. I dunno, I might be moving to Dublin or Edinburgh, since Scottish independence also looks inevitable now.

Maybe this will be a wake-up call, when the economy tanks (Moodys has put the UK on negative watch, which means the possibility of a sovereign downgrade and therefore an increased interest bill for the government). Of course, the shit-heads who voted for this probably won't make the mental leap and want to blame someone else.

Of to spend a week in a tent in deepest, darkest Norfolk. Please bot Camlo in the mean time. He'll be sneaky, and a bit of a wus, but set up some chances to use his sneak attack and he'll make them bleed....

I'm looking at kicking off a Pathfinder Society PbP. Some of us have done this in the past and the short society modules work quite well for PbP as they are quite short so go pretty quick.
I'm looking for willing victims^w participants to play. I have the list of scenarios I own below, and I'm signing up to the society module subscrition, so I'll have all of season 8 as they release to play with too....
I think trying to run through season 6 as much as possible, sticking other stuff in is may favored option. Although that quest (a set of 6 modules starting at L1) looks quite interestng too.
Anyone interested please PM me, so we don't totally threadjack these discussions!

I noticed someone start a recruitment thread for a Savage Tide AP pbp the other day ... they asked for committed players, because "this could take about two years". Well, good luck to them if they can do it in two years, but I don't think they know what they are getting into...

![]() |

Our tabletop STAP is almost done. We started before the whole thing had been published, so I'm pretty sure it's been over a decade.
I was running SCAP for about a decade, before we gave up around chapter 8 or so. Mind you, our group only managed to get together 2 or 3 times a year some years.

![]() |

This is why I like the idea of stringing a few modules together. There's less need to commit for years at a time as characters changing doesn't impact as much...
When I was a kid I heard of DnD groups that took decades to hit 20th level.... I thought it was exaggeration...

I've rarely if ever finished a campaign (as DM or player) except via way of a TPK or just getting bored and moving on to something else. The one exception was a CotCT campaign from a few years ago, I think it took us about 4 years (and the GM ran it quite differently and truncated compared to as written). I am VERY close with the Carrion Crown game I am running for my RL group, after about 4-5 years we are at the start of book 6 ... and, with my recent 7 or 8 week absence due to my surgery, the group has moved on to a new campaign! So who knows when we will end up finishing (if at all ...)

![]() |

We played a 4e campaign from level 1 to level 30 (the capstone in 4e). It took us about 5 years and we were totally burned out at the end. We didn't even play the final climactic encounter (the players hadn't paid that much attention and didn't realize there was a BBEG standing behind the BBEGs, and couldn't be arsed. I was a bit disappointed as DM, but I'm philosophical. It was and achievement nevertheless to get there, and we may not rush to repeat it as it was bloody hard work to keep your attention going for that long.

Pixie Rogue |

"Geez, this first book is really dragging - ok, everyone advance your character to 16th level, we're skipping to the last encounter in the AP."
Actually, I knew a couple of those folks - they ran the whole thing, but they had a very active group with a high and steady posting rate. I got into their Second Darkness AP, but life has happened. About halfway through, the pace has fallen precipitously. I expect we will finish, but not nearly as quickly as their Skulls & Shackles campaign.

![]() |

I’ve heard about that Skull and Shackles pbp from a number of sources, so I don’t doubt that it happened, but I have trouble fathoming what the posting rate would had to have been. A few of us here were in Heathy’s Saltmarsh / Isle of Dread pbp some years back; that seemed (at least for the first few years) to have an extremely high post rate and dedicated players, but it still would have been 4-5 years or so before the game was hitting the sort of level that Skull and Shackles finishes at (about 15th I think?). Now, that wasn’t an AP, so I’m not comparing apples to apples, and while the game had a high post rate we weren’t always the most focused bunch. At any rate, they obviously had a good system going (and presumably a fair amount of spare time).

At any rate, they obviously had a good system going (and presumably a fair amount of spare time).
I suspect that RL has caused most of the dropoff in posting - jobs, marriages, kids have all been topics of conversation ooc. Which makes this old gamer think they were college-age when they pulled off that feat.

Hi all, I'm doing a sponsored walk round 13 of the bridges over the River Thames in London on the 9th of October. If you would like to sponsor me, the link is here. Many thanks for your generosity (and may worms coil in the privy parts of those who fail to sponsor me).

Sefayll Valerian |

In all seriousness, I like challenges like that. Good for you for taking part - even if you have to talk auditing with co-workers for ten miles. ;-)
Maybe that will bother you less than I would bother me.
I remember as a kid, we had these challenges where the money raised was based on the success of the challenge - jump rope and get a certain pledged amount based on the number of jumps, etc. I don't think anyone does that sort of challenge anymore, do they?

Sefayll Valerian |

I have embarked on my annual autumn excursion to Someplace Else(TM) and so my availability and access may not be what they generally are. It looks like I should be able to post in the evenings, but can make no guarantees, so please feel free to bot Sefayll as necessary.
I should be able to resume normal activity after the 17th.
