Which makes it all the more important to get good players who stick with it, like your good self and others.

I've made the bluff check anyway, but assuming we don't let Bandit 4 live, would anyone other than Bandit 4 know what Jareen was up to with this spell? The description goes: "You wave your hand, and your foe sees a bolt of fire streaking toward it. The enemy dives away from the imagined threat."

So more generally, are we worrying about distinguishing between spells with obvious to everyone effects (like magic missile "a glowing bolt of energy" and those that Jareen seem to specialise in that are illusion and so only the people affected know about it?

Generally speaking, provided you attempt to bluff, I will give you the benefit of the doubt unless there are RP reasons not to.

Something I mentioned in character in the thread, but no one else has pulled on.

Am I right in thinking that we just "assumed" the first oasis we came too would have the druid, and have now given up on looking for him because he wasn't there?

Do we have any reason to suspect he may not have been at this oasis all along, or maybe the next one? etc etc

Just to let you know, I'm completely off grid this weekend and next weekend, but around normally during the week.

The Exchange

No peeking, please Rarely Accountant 2/Auditor 4/Waster 30

Yes, I did the get the impression that you (as a party) "decided" there would be a helpful druid who would tell you when the stars were right, and that he wold be at the oasis. I never said that. I have rubbed your noses in the actual solution, but no one seems to want to bite. That said, I get the impession Arakan has a cunning plan...

Oh and I hope what you are doing off-grid will be fun. If so, have fun doing it!

We are all scared of the Templars. This could be a problem.... There's certainly something we are missing....

This weekend I'm doing a "camp skills" weekend, so camping out and cooking over wood and playing with axes and things. Next weekend is the district cub camp, so supervising a bunch of the little rotters doing the same.....

It should be very good fun if the weather holds......

Male Human 1

I've been getting busy in real life and haven't had much time to check the game. It might be best if I bow out. This seems to be a good place to do it, as Piedro can wander off in town or stick with the caravan as just a generic guard.

M Humanborn

Heads up,

My posts will be sparing for the next day. I will be flying on a trip. The trip will be mostly leisure, but I will be working via phone/laptop. As such, I will still have time to post.

If you are one of those folks that has estimated the approximate times I am typically online, I will be on at different times. Five hour time zone difference will have me signing off five hours early, but also a drastically reduced work schedule will have me begin posting much earlier.

OK, as mentioned in the gameply thread, I am upgrading your mounts - just assume they got better as you did. Your crodus are now war crodlus - they are essentially the same as in the DS Creature Catalogue.

Morthak has a kank - just for a bit of variety. I am putting the stats down for all your mounts here - please cut and paste them into your character sheets somewhere for reference.

Kank Soldier - Morthak's mount
Large Natural Beast (mount) - lvl 4 Soldier
HP 54
AC 20, Fort 17, Reflex 16, Will 14
Speed 8
Acid and Poison Resistance 5
Initiative +7, Perception +8

Traits
Grabbed Advantage (mount)
A friendly rider of 4th level or higher mounted on the solider has combat advantage against any creature grabbed by the soldier.

Standard Actions
Bite - At-Will (melee basic)
Attack (melee 1, one creature): +9 v AC, +11 v creatures grabbed by the soldier. While the soldier has a creature grabbed, it can only use bite against the grabbed creature.
Hit: 2d4 damage, or 2d4+10 against creatures grabbed by the soldier. In addition, the soldier grabs the target.

Kank Venom - Recharge 5-6, Poison
Attack (melee 1, one creature grabbed by the soldier): +9 v Fortitude
Hit: the target is slowed and takes 10 ongoing poison damage (save ends both). First failed saving throw: the target is immobilised (save ends).

STR 18 (+6), CON 14 (+4), DEX 16 (+5), INT 2 (-2), WIS 12 (+3), CHA 6 (+0)

Alignment: Unaligned

War Crodlu - everyone else's mount
Large Natural Beast (mount, reptile) - lvl 5 Brute
HP 76
AC 17, Fort 19, Reflex 17, Will 15
Speed 8
Initiative +5, Perception +3

Standard Actions
Beak - At-Will (melee basic)
Attack (melee 1, one creature): +10 v AC
Hit: 2d6+3 damage

Claws - At-Will (melee basic)
Attack (melee 1, one creature): +10 v AC
Hit: 1d8+4 damage

Pounce - At-Will
Effect: The crodlu can move its speed. Whether or not it moves, it can use Beak and Claws, making each attack against the same target. If both attacks hit, the target also falls prone.

Triggered Actions
Pouncing Mount - Encounter (mount)
Trigger: the crodlu charges an enemy while mounted by a friendly rider of 4th level or higher.
Effect (no action): The crodlu rider can make a melee basic attack as a free action against the target of the crodlu's charge.

STR 20 (+6), CON 16(+5), DEX 16 (+5), INT 3 (-2), WIS 13 (+3), CHA 8 (+1)

Alignment: Unaligned

I'll stick these in the campaign page as well.

Guys, just a reminder - in PbP, you have to post otherwise the game grinds to a halt. I know that one or two of us are busy or otherwise engaged for a few weekends, but notwithstanding you need to post and respond to one another and to me. Otherwise the game will simply die.

Sorry, unexpectedly busy couple of days. Back to normal now!

The Exchange

No peeking, please Rarely Accountant 2/Auditor 4/Waster 30

It's more a general comment, rather than picking on anyone. I know people do occasionally step away from their computers and have busy lives, but a PbP nevertheless needs the oxygen of people actively posting. It doesn't have to be a perfectly crafted work of aching beauty, but some sort of comment to which others can react is how the medium operates.

Did we get the 750 clacks in trade goods up front? :)

Ok.. look here and at the next few posts. Then Look here...

I think we missed something, and need to re-interrogate that Templar when we get the chance....

Male Half-Elf Mindvivisectionist 3/Archaeologist 1 (AC: 16 [T: 13 /F: 14]; HP: 28/28; F+5 (+2 vs Poison), R+8, W+4; Init: +2; Perc: +7 [Low-light vision])

Okay, I don't actually want all the loot from the 'vials and things' list, but heck Arakan sure does. A whole bunch of poisons, alchemy recipes, a widow's knife and stealth boots.

Okay, maybe he's not too concerned with the bombs and antivenoms, but.... all the rest look pretty sweet.

Dark Archive

Wintergreen's CE PA IT Geek 10/Daddy 9/Physicist 3/Cartographer 1/Runner 3/Cub Scout Leader 2/Musician 1

Yeah, that was quite a haul. We have around 5k in cash to distribute too, but I have zero idea how to spend it in Dark Sun....

I think I managed to get about a quarter of the way back through the posts yesterday, so there may be a few more things we need to remember.

Dark Archive

Wintergreen's CE PA IT Geek 10/Daddy 9/Physicist 3/Cartographer 1/Runner 3/Cub Scout Leader 2/Musician 1

Ok, I reckon we've found/made around 6800gp so far in game. If we assume we've spent a fair bit and characters that have left have taken some etc etc, there are six of us, it would be sensible to assume we have about 1kgp each in tradeable goods.

Also, we've been pretty much dithering the whole time, following the odd lead, but as I've been back through I've picked up on a couple of things that link together and give possibly some overarching things we should be noticing and taking forward. I've put them here

As Aubs has said a few times, "All roads lead to Tyr" and I think we may be attempting to stop the re-birth of a sorceror-king......

You are probably better equipped than they are - I've not been overly generous, and what I give them they've generally forgotten about (until Nevynxxx's sterling work just now to dredge up the details). It'll even out in the end.

By the way, do you want to discuss the distribution of the treasure, in particular the various bombs and so on, from the assassin's den (apart from the money, which I assume you split five ways)? If no one objects, Arakan might as well have the lot, especially the magic items which are very rogue-y, but the bombs can be used by pretty much anyone one and might be a useful add-on. Don't be shy - I give you this stuff because you need it and to keep it interesting, so it's a shame if it just gets left in the bottom of the backpack.

Wintergreen's CE PA IT Geek 10/Daddy 9/Physicist 3/Cartographer 1/Runner 3/Cub Scout Leader 2/Musician 1

Yeah, Jareen has taken the cloth armour, and the knife (although not made use of it).

I hadn't realised we could all use the bombs. Now would be a good time to share them out between us.

for that matter, as a player, i don't recall the specifics of the bombs (Damage, etc.)

As you know I'm on holiday at the end of the week. As usual, I've got stuff to do at home (or more specifically, in the garden, where I bought a load of plants and need to stick them in the ground before we go on holiday, lest the heat turn them into little withered sticks in their pots by the time we get back) and to a lesser extent at work (though that is largely done). Sorry for being a bit quiet the last few days. I'm hoping to set things up properly in the games before I go away.

Nice - Ludlow's not so far away from where my parents live (they are in Herefordshire rather than Shropshire - also a nice county and worth a visit, in case you haven't). We are off to Whitstable in Kent. Ironically, despite coming from Surrey, I've barely ever set foot in the next door county (and now I live nowhere near there in the Midlands) - hence after forty years finally a trip there.

I went through Ludlow a few years back, on the way to Wales. Kinda near there is Hay-on-Wye, which is an awesome little town with a hundred bookstores. Very cool!

I'll be out in East Anglia in a couple months visiting in-laws. Can't wait! =)
