Colvare rush up the stairs, Gaz following. About 20' to the right can be seen a doorway, where Rayne and Urthona are poised, looking in. Past them, Shagraat is in combat with a slim figure dressed in black, so dark it is almost a clot of night against the bright window behind. The halfling gangster lies flat on his back on the floor, blood spreading about his head.
Colvare halts at the top of the steps, and seeing Shagraat in combat, causes a blast of fire to fly uneeringly at the figure in black.

After failing to learn anything new from the body Mirra starts after Colvare with her sword drawn. She gets to the doorway as the assassin stabs Shagraat in the side.

Rayne calls out a moment too late to the shifter and hobgoblin. "Wait, you idiots! That might be Harmal!" The changeling waved his hands to the approaching group to signal them to stand down as well.
"We have business to discuss! There's no need for violence!"

The figure pauses, seemingly listening to Rayne.... And then makes a dive for the desk in the room, where a series of ledgers have been haphazardly piled.

Urthona sees in bewilderment as the figure makes a grab for the books, he will certainly set them on fire...

"Elf or no elf, she can still die." Urthona steps to the shadowy figure and rises his sword.

Rayne sneers a bit before taking aim with his slender finger and loosing a bolt of flame at the shadowy figure.

Benedetto holds. If someone close to him takes damage, he'll expend his focus and take the damage. If any enemy tries to pass him, he'll attack.
Hamathin sidesteps the melee and kneels beside the hobgoblin, whispering a prayer and touching him.

Mirra steps thought the door and starts casting a spell and a flash of color come from her hands covering the elf.
The figure is engulfed in coloured light for a moment. The ledgers so recently grabbed fall from nerveless fingers.
COlvare sweeps his hands and a fiery missile pummels the figure, which just sways with the impact.
"Ye won't geta'way... no, ye won't... blame it all on us..." Urthona steps to the shadowy elf and takes her into a securing grip.
"Bind her!" he says.
Rayne rushes forward immediately, stooping down to grab the ledgers that the shadowy figure had attempted to abscond with.
