Artefacts of Olindor - A Rogue and her Blade

A plague has struck the city of Cairdus, and it's up to one fast-talking bar owner to do something about it, by hook or by crook!

The discussion thread for the Artefacts of Olindor campaign run for Laëlynn.

What will your tavern be named? I think we will start there.

Thank you again for the selection. I'm quite excited about doing a one on one campaign. I hadn't put a name to the tavern. I'm thinking it will be something connected to either her nickname or the sea if Cairdus is a port city. What can you tell me about it? I looked in the pathfinderwiki site to see if it was in Golarion, but I'm not finding an entry.

I've decided on the "Dancing Bugbear" as the tavern name.

When asked about the name, Laelynn will recount the tale of when a shipment of some of her finest, and heartiest brew, "Clank's Triple Brew" was headed to the estate of minor, but wealthy, nobleman for his daughter's wedding. On the way there, she and her driven were besieged by a troop of bugbears. After deciding that it was more profitable to ransom the young Varasian, the Bugbears tied them up and investigated the contents of the supply wagon. Laelynn convinced them that the casks contained magical ale destined to transform the local militia into a powerful fighting force. The bugbears consumed the ale and gleefully danced about the wagon until finally falling asleep late in the night. At which point, Laelynn and her driver were able to escape with the brew and successfully deliver it to the wedding.

The actual story is quite different. The shipment was bound for a privateers ship sailing to the Razor Coast. On the way to the port, Laelynn's driver was killed in an ambush by two bugbears, but she managed to escape. She followed the bugbears back to their lair, and waiting until they had fallen asleep, Laelynn slipped in unnoticed, disabled the bugbears with a few well-place blows, and made out with her ale and several other stolen items. The ship had set sail by the time, Laelynn arrived in port. However, She sold the brew at a higher price to a tavern on the docks, profiting nicely on the misfortunate delay.

Ha, I like it!

Cairdus was the city that happened to be attached to this campaign; I probably should have replaced it with Golarion one, but let's say it's set in the world of Golarion all the same. We'll have to fill it in as we go! I'm setting it inland as sort of a crossroads city.

Excellent. Lots of travelers needing a good brew, and its probably an intersection of a couple trade routes. Perfect place for her brewery and tavern.

I should let you know that the gameplay thread is up and running!

Oops, thanks.

Hey, hope what TK had to say wasn't too underwhelming! Since there's just the two of us, I'll take your bonuses into account when providing information and try to provide you anything where your bonus beats the DC automatically. Figure we'll save time that way, and there'll be more for you to react off of.

Also, I will be taking a different approach to the parallel campaign for the other applicant, so events might not happen identically, but please try to avoid checking out the other thread, since there are likely to be spoilers!

XP-wise, are you OK with levelling at the appropriate cinematic moments, or do you like the crunch?

I'm out of town for the weekend and only have internet access with my iphone. I'll try to post a response by Monday. Have a great weekend.

No problem, have fun and thanks for letting me know!

So this weekend, it's my turn to go out of town! I might not be able to post until Monday.

My weekends are usually pretty busy. We're weekend-warrioring a basement remodel, so I'll mainly be a weekday poster with a Sunday post from time to time.

No problem. PBP tends to slow down on the weekends, usually.

I'm going to be fairly scarce this week. My wife's father's health has taken a turn for the worse. He has been battling cancer for 2 years. Last week we were informed that it has matasticized into his stomach. He has been moved to hospice care. The whole faimly is congregating in Florida (we live in Kansas City) where her dad lives. I'll try to post when I can.

I will be home next Sunday and should be back to a regular posting schedule.

So sorry to hear that! Take all the time you need.

I'm back and getting settled back into work and posting. Sorry for the loss of momentum.

I'm going out of town tomorrow for my father-in-laws funeral and will be back on Sunday. I'll try to post if I get the opportunity.

No problem. I'm dealing with a bout of sickness at the moment and didn't think I'd get to post til tomorrow anyway.

I'm assuming we're dead here. If you come back and would like to continue, please shoot me a PM. Take care.
