Artemis Eule
Artemis just shifts a little, "More like Frank, since well, rifles aren't quiet but yeah... " he sighs, staring at the fort a bit, crossing his arms, "... I just had a thought, and full disclaimer, this might be a very, very, dumb idea... but do we have a net? Like, a giant net?"
Joe "Joseph" Waskalis
"A net? To act as a large basket to carry us all at once? That's not bad. But Frank's strong, I'm not sure he's literally carry-the-entire-team-strong." Joe looks to the warlord and oracle, "What do you guys think?"
Jellena Darkling
|
She laughs a bit at the idea but then ponders on the idea. She looks at Frank with her now glowing blue eyes and ponders out loud, "How much do we weigh? I think he might be able to do it... any spells we have that could give him a boost? Enlarge, Frank do you have an item giving you a boost to strength?"
Jellena Darkling
|
"Then again we don't have a net. So what is the plan? Who wants to go up first? I can vanish for a few rounds once deposited. Then start wreaking havoc should the opportunity arise." She offers.
Ryada
"Joe, since you are more melee oriented it might be best for you to go first. Artemis can cover you. Unless Frank wants to take up the artillery first." He points out.
Joe "Joseph" Waskalis
King Joseph smiled knowingly. "Well said, Lady Ryada. I should start the introductions. Besides, with Artemis having my back, I have little to fear", the godling nods at the half-fiend.
Artemis Eule
Artemis nods back, "Well, I certainly can't really carry any of you... but I can definitely provide some aerial support, just please don't rush forward once we get up there, ok?"
GM Wolf
As you have been talking, I am assuming, you have been walking quietly towards the fort. With little light those who can't see in the dark hold onto another as they follow. You walk around the mess of the goblin encampment. It now is in tatters and any fires that were going are now feeble if not out. It appears that all of the goblins were decimated. At least none remain in their blood soaked camp. 4d20 ⇒ (11, 10, 5, 16) = 42
Getting to the South wall, Frank grabs under Joe's arms and hefts him up with his strong wings. The walls are a good 80 feet tall and a vertical climb cuts your fly speed in half.
4d20 ⇒ (18, 14, 4, 15) = 51
init: 1d20 ⇒ 1 Artemis
init: 1d20 ⇒ 10 orcs
As Joe and Frank climb up to 30 feet in altitude, you can hear cries. Looking up you can see figures peering over the walls and shooting crossbows at Artemis.

Artemis Eule
Round 1
Artemis would just freeze a little, the bolts mostly flying past him, doing no damage before wincing a little as one of the bolts would hit him in the side. Wincing a little, Artemis would just glare at them, firing his rifle to try and hit one of them.
Rifle Shot: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 20
Rifle Damage: 2d6 + 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3) + (5, 6) + 6 = 24
GM Wolf
Round 1
Frank flies 60 feet up with his two move actions. Flying a bit to the side as well letting Joe slip over the edge as he will likely continue to fly next round. Joe you are 20 feet from the closest orc, as you come over the wall they all look towards you. Ryada, Delman, and Jellena aim up with their ranged weapons hoping for a fool to poke their head out more... Artemis returns fire blowing off one of their heads. That's right Artemis goes last!
Artemis you said freeze, so you stop flying?
Round 2
The orcs left fly another volley at Artemis and then scoot to the tower, then the door closes. Joe can hear the sound of scraping wood after that.
Joe "Joseph" Waskalis
Round 1
Joe, you are 20 feet from the closest orc, as you come over the wall they all look towards you.
King Joseph stands tall, shoulders straight, and pulls Escalavar from his sheath.
"I am King Joseph! Rightful ruler of Avalon! And I order you to surrender this fort to me! NOW!!"Intimidate: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
If nothing else, Joe's demand may daze them for a round.
Round 2
Joe, can hear the sound of scraping wood after that.
The paladin thinks the orcs may have some ballista in the tower. Is there a door on the ground floor to enter? If so, the godling king will attempt to enter the tower and find the ballista and destroy it. Unless the orcs who saw him have any other plans.
Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (13) + 13 = 26| Artemis Eule |
Oh God no, I meant freeze as in not actively climbing/moving but still flying.
Round 2
Artemis would just do his best to dodge the bolts, and then look down towards Joe as he finishes ascending, "Well, uh..." Artemis says, flying beside Joe and landing as he looks at his side, gently doing his best to take out the bolt, [b]"That... that could have gone better... I'm gonna say, lets not follow them. That's most likely a staircase... and I am definitely not wanting to know what tricks they have behind that door..."
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Is there another way that that doesn't involve either the aforementioned tower or flying? And if so, is it viable?
GM Wolf
Just double checking, I thought that is what you meant but wanted to make sure. So Hover is a DC 15 fly check... could you take a ten for this check? NOPE!
fly for Artemis: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Round 1
The orcs leave
Round 2
Artemis is going to take some time to fly back up...
Joe hears the wood move and then a great clump and you see dust move off the door. Also looking back you see some shutters open up but they are not poking their heads out, they also don't have a shot on Joe. So you have a ladder you could climb down to the floor below, or try opening one of the doors to the towers.
Frank dives down to collect another of the group.
Joe "Joseph" Waskalis
Joe will try to kick in the door to the tower.
Strength: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
GM Wolf
Round 2
Joe solidly slams his leg into the door and the door is obviously well made as it doesn't budge.
Round 3
Frank does a double move and can't make the flight up in a round. Jellena waits to be brought over before departing. The shutters are actually closed and Joe can hear movement behind the door at the other tower.
3d20 ⇒ (6, 12, 10) = 28
Joe "Joseph" Waskalis
Round 3
Thinking these orcs in the other tower might have crossbows, Joe runs to find some cover nearby.
Jellena Darkling

Round 4
Jellena holds her rifle in one hand as it points up into the air, then thinks better of it and stows it. Then she pulls her handle from her side. Then flicks the switch. The black energy crackles as it comes for form a lightsaber. "Shall I make an opening?!" she says with a snicker.
Joe "Joseph" Waskalis
Round 4
"If you wouldn't mind, Lady Darkling", the paladin said with a short bow.
Jellena Darkling
|
Round 5
She would walk up to the closest door and slice the lightsaber easily into the door. You hear screams from the other side and she slowly draws it down and around to make a circular cut that Joe could easily kick into the tower.
Joe "Joseph" Waskalis
Round 5 Round 6 Corrected, per DM
Joe observes the frightened orcs and has a momentary pang of mercy, but remembers the horror stories of what The Red Horde did to Avalon, and those pangs dissolve.
Wordless, King Joseph steps forward and strikes at the nearest orc.

She quickly asks, "Shall I come in and flank or fire from here?" With the response she quickly disarms the lightsaber as she pulls the rifle free from the folds of her clothes, quickly pulling it to her shoulder and pulls the trigger. A three round burst shoots off.

"Fire!" Joe yells over the battle.
Artemis Eule
Round 4-5
Wow, you guys really moved fast.
After arriving back on the ramparts, Artemis would just glare at his wings a little before positioning himself to provide support and the Jedi and the paladin get ready to breach the door.
Round 6
Having watched Joe kick in the door, Artemis would wait for Joe to yell 'Fire' before pulling the trigger and firing past Joe into the orcs.
Rifle Shot: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15

Round 6
4d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 6, 2) = 17
Jellena hits one of them twice. Artemis hits another one and Joe hurts the one straight ahead of him.
Round 7
The three attacking orcs wail as they are hurt and try to take down Joe. Hitting Joe for 15 damage, after DR, before the three of you likely kill them.
The fourth orc stops and drinks a potion of some kind as it starts to buldge in muscle size.
Having drawn extra attention you see winged creatures emerge from other towers.
Joe "Joseph" Waskalis
Round 7
Joe uses a swift action to Lay hands on himself.
LoH: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 2) = 3 I always seem to roll low on Lay on Hands lately.
Then the young king advances on the gradually-hulking orc.
Escalavar: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
Dmg.: 1d8 + 8 + 2d6 ⇒ (2) + 8 + (3, 5) = 18
Joe "Joseph" Waskalis
You will provoke 3 AoO if you leave to attack the potion guzzling orc.
I thought the other three were dispatched. Fair enough, King Joseph begins to cut through the other orcs to get o the hulked-out one.
GM Wolf
They each have AC 18, 34 hp.
Round 7
Each of the orcs before Joe have been hurt but continue to glare at you for your death. The middle one is dispatched by Joe's strike. Jellena's shots miss with two of the three shots, the third just lodges in its shoulder, it still swings at Joe, slicing him with his ally, 8 damage after DR. The other orc continues to drink.
3d20 ⇒ (9, 5, 3) = 17 +6 2d6 ⇒ (1, 6) = 7
Artemis Eule
Round 7
Artemis just frowns, paying attention to the drinking orc as he shifts his aim, assuming that Joe can deal with the orcs in front of him. Shifting his aim, Artemis would take a shot at the rear orc.
Rifle Shot: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Rifle Damage: 2d6 + 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 2) + (3, 6) + 6 = 23

Artemis hits the orc swallowing alchemist fire. Perhaps it was some kind of alchemist. The room explodes, first from the orc then from the other explosives in the room.
Joe:

Joe, Jellena, and Artemis:

Joe "Joseph" Waskalis
Reflex DC 18: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (10) + 14 = 24
Coughing from the smoke of the explosion, Joe follows everyone out of the tower. Once clear, the paladin casts protection from evil on himself. +2 deflection to AC, +2 to saves for 4 mins.
"Dammit! Is everyone okay?" Joe asks.
Artemis Eule
Reflex: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
Fire Resistance 10 means Artemis takes no damage
Artemis just nods, waving the smoke away from his face and nodding, "Yeah... I was not expecting that and I'm sorry for the chain reaction..."
Jellena Darkling
|
1d20 + 16 ⇒ (8) + 16 = 24
She takes 8 damage but as Joe emerges and asks she waves it off as she is healing, a bit concerned she casts a cure light wounds spell, 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 on Joe.

Round 8
Reflex DC 12: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (15) + 14 = 29 -8 hp
Aching, Joe made his way outside the tower to greet the others incoming.
"Thank you", the paladin king grunted as he received some healing.

Round 8
She casts a cure moderate wounds spell, 2d8 + 3 ⇒ (5, 5) + 3 = 13 on Joe. Looking out into the darkness and whispers to those beside her, "These are Vayuphaks, Lawful Evil Asuras, Outsiders. They protect holy places that have been desecrated. Destroy them." She looks at each of you and steps forward, "Let me be their immediate target." Then she raises her voice, "By all that is holy, in the Mistresses name you shall fall this day and your holy site be reclaimed!"

With that scorching rays leave the hands of those flying asuras, all seven of them aim at Jellena. She gracefully dodges all but one of the flaming rays.

Artemis just nods, "Got it!" he says, quickly aiming for the closest Vayuphak and firing at it.

Alchemist Damage: 2d6 + 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 5) + (5, 6) + 6 = 28
Joe "Joseph" Waskalis
Can Joe still act in Round 8? And if so, can he get within melee range of the azuras?
GM Wolf
The Azuras are about 100 feet from the ground and flying 30 feet away from the group. So Joe could try jumping but that would likely be a bad choice. Unless you got something up your sleeve I don't know about. Joe has a move or standard action for Round 8 still.
Round 9
Artemis now waits for a winged thing to come through the door to shoot at? Is that your readied action? If you want to shoot through the shutters you are welcome too. There are shutters you could open, a move action to unlatch it and a move action to open the shutters themselves.
I need to know where Joe is before they act again in round 9.
Frank arrives on the scene with a singing Ryada to inspire the group. She holds her bow and quickly enters into the small room with the others. She aims her bow at the door ready to shoot at something ugly. Frank, takes a few steps and falls off the edge of the wall letting his wings float him to Delman with ease.
Joe "Joseph" Waskalis
Round 8
King Joseph runs to the oracle's side, shield up, hoping to ward off any more damage.
GM Wolf
Round 9
The seven Asuras land two of them begin to enter but stop before the door. The other five of them teleport into the room behind Ryada.
Check out the map! Now! I hadn't edited it yet!

She glares at the outsiders and what pain has been put upon them. She sees this is going to be a long fight and channels healing her allies and not the enemies she can't see, selecting the Asuras to not taking the healing either. "Mistress heal us all!"
