Matsu Miyuki |
Well then heads up for Team horn head.
So far I think CWE would like to choose one of the bandits as a groom.
Apart from that gather your horses, it´s time to move out and explore the stolen lands ;-)
Anton Medvyed |
Yes, let's move to explore!
Natalya Artemisa |
Natalya nods at Chief White Eagle, accepting the pipe and taking a puff
I think we should head out and look for those kobolds... less competition
Natalya is happy to head out whenever. If no-one suggests alternatively then let's say mid-afternoon. Natalya would like a break from the bustle of all these people and is looking forward to camping under the stars tonight.
Will sell my portion of the loot plus my shortbow to Oleg in exchange for an IOU, keeping horse and the bandit's longbow.
Yup, let's move out :)
I vote south-east unless anyone has other ideas. Unless we run in to anything to change our minds, we should get to the river then follow it down. We'll make good time on the plains even if we fully explore as we go,and I suspect our colleagues will be bandit hunting in the forest, so we can stay out of each others way for a while at least.
Open to other suggestions though!
Hunter Deadeye |
Hunter checking in, I did make one last post for the ceremony in that other thread. We could still be at the ceremony, I'm just showing what I did after it was over, so it is kind of flashing forward.
Also, just so I know, this is fiction, but approximately what year would Kingmaker have taken place?
Anton Medvyed |
Before, at the tea ceremony, when discussing about the name of the team
"Three of us have ties to Erastil, and the antlers as a symbol also means all of what Miyuki said. But I think a name could means something for us, all six of us."
Anton takes a stick and draws a symbol in the ground
A rudimental version of this
"Miyuki telled me that she had heard rumors about a unicorn out there. A unicorn, the noble beast of the forest, a magical beast so it could means our skilled arcane members" He says this pointing to Hithil and Miyuki.
"The unicorn is also known as the Spirit of the Forest, who commune with good feys and good spirits. That could partially represent you Chief White Eagle.
Also, most unicorns are white, but few rare unicorn are blue, blue like our friend Hunter, who is a rare exemplar of his race in our lands.
So, a blue unicorn, on a green field, meaning our connection with nature. Also this lands are the Green Belt. Above the unicorn the Elk's Antlers, meaning the connection with the Church of Erastil representing myself, Miyuki and Natalya.
Here is mine propose, we could be the Unicorn's Antlers, a name to represent all six of us."
I can make changes to the symbol if someone what to add something else to it.
Chief White Eagle |
during the tea ceremony
CWE takes note of those that choose not to take of the pipe, but says nothing. Once the pipe has gone full circle, and is returned to White Eagle.
CWE makes a motion to the man from the bandits to sit with them. This is Tafadzwa he shows honor in his eyes. he will assist us in out journeys.
White Eagle offers the pipe to Tafadzwa. A bond of trust, You commit yourself to the Great Spirit your trust in us and our trust in you.
He looks to those that have not take of the pipe, particularly to Hithil.
your words are your bond. Perhaps my was are not appropriate to you. that is fine. I have heard those words before, They were uttered in friendship and trust by men that sat and shared the pipe with my father. Those words were not so bold when only four days later they stood over the slain bodies of my brothers and sisters. my people's blood still fresh on their blades
I will judge you by your actions instead. since you have done no harm to me or my people, I give you my trust, until you give reason not to.
White Eagle sounds harsh in his words. but his words tell much about what he has experienced and his eyes show he has seen suffering and bloodshed, more than one should at a young age.
Hunter Deadeye |
Hunter smiles at the idea. Yeah, I like it. Well said Anton
So chief, what have you seen. Cruelty? Death? Torture? Just curious. You don't have to go into full detail if you want. and if everyone does not want to know full details or does not feel comfortable with it, they may stand 20 feet away where they can't hear.
Chief White Eagle |
concerning the emblem.
I have no opinion of the emblem. It holds value to all here. I will respect it and those whom it represents.
Matsu Miyuki |
Miyuki will look deep into Tafadzwa eyes as if she would want to look into his soul. Finally she says:Tafadzwa you are given the chance to join us. Will you accept us as you master. Obey our commands, serve with dignity and honor and assist us in our adventure? I will accept you and take you as our servant. You will have equal share of food, equal share of a place by the fire, our protection and absolution from past crimes. You are born anew, and your destiny is yours to shape! I for one welcome you in our midst.
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
After the tea ceremony miyuki will pack her equipment and offer the weapons and armor to Tafadzwa, so that he is not unprotected. She will try to climb her horse as gracefully as possible and wait for the others.
Natalya Artemisa |
Natalya gingerly eyes her new horse, they lock gazes as if each are somewhat daunted by the other. They seem to reach some mutual understanding and Natalya mounts up carefully, then prepares to move off.
So, I suggest moving south-east till we hit the river, and we should map and explore as we go, we're here to civilize the region and we can't do that if we miss most of the holes the nasty things hide in.
She takes a swig of water,, makes sure her club and bow are secure but easily accessed, then moves off from the outpost once everyone signals they are ready.
Mardavig |
Tafadzwa takes the offered pipe and draws from it. He is a man of few words. He is missing his eye teeth and the whites of his eyes are very yellow but he says he will do everything he can to assist you, in exchange for the opportunity you have granted him.
The area southeast of the trading post appears to be plains.
I'm ready to go when you are.
Matsu Miyuki |
I think everybody was ready to go ;-)
As I said point men shake your dice for perception Another question
Shall we keep Roleplay here and discussion for the where to go dice rolling etc?
Hunter Deadeye |
Hunter says, I'm ready when you are all. South-east it is.
Is there a map for Kingmaker so I would know where I'm at for reference. I mean my character doesn't know, but these people seem to know what's where when I don't
Mardavig |
If you come across any she will pay handsomely for a basket.
On horseback it takes you three hours to exit the hex The trading post is in. The next hex is plains, so if you plan on exploring it it will take a full day. Let me know any perception, survival or other skill checks you might want to make for that time, as well as any accommodations you plan on taking for when you stop to camp for the night.
Hunter Deadeye |
I would just take ten on my perception during the trip for sightseeing. My perception is 0 so 0+10=10. What do I see during my sightseeing.
Also, I looked up Kingmaker map for curiosity, it said one hex is 12 miles. 5280*12/80X6/60 = 80 minutes. 5280 feet in a mile. 12 miles. horses have a move speed of 40, but if all you do is move you can do two moves in one round thus move speed 80. Multiply this big (792) number by 6 since one round is 6 seconds, so this is how many seconds it took, while 792 is the number of rounds. Divide number of seconds by 60 and that is the number of minutes. I came up with 80. So I am curious to know why it took 3 hours.
Matsu Miyuki |
Miyuki will ask everyone just before we ride that Svetlana will need some Vegetable from the forest. She thinks at the moment any road is as good as the next and that if we manage to be fast friends to Svetlana that might be immensly useful in the future. But she will also point out, that she is no leader in this area and that the others are much more talented to lead the way!
Hunter Deadeye |
Geography was never my thing, wouldn't feel comfortable doing it. But to be honest, I think you are doing a good job. Though I'm sure someone else would lead since you asked. As far as finding vegetable from the forest, I would help you look.
Matsu Miyuki |
Miyuki will do a pearly laughter and bow in the saddle.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
one can see, she is surprised that she didn´t fall down
Dear Hunter, I do not know south from west, dead leaves to plush ones. Trust me, in this wilderness I will trust everone but me to find the way.
Hunter Deadeye |
Oh, okay, the sun rises in the east and sets in the west is an old saying.
Hunter looks at the sun for a second.
Okay, so that way is southeast. as Hunter points.
As far as dead leaves, they crumble.
Natalya Artemisa |
Mardavig, just to note Natalya buys parchment and charcoal from Oleg as well as a waterproof bag to store them in.
ok and off we go on our grand adventure :)
Travelling south-east, Natalia leads the team, staying 30 ft or so ahead and constantly scanning the ground. As you travel you realize you are going in a zig zag pattern designed to balance travel speed with the requirement to explore. Natalia makes notes and brief sketches as she goes.
Perception for 1st hex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
I hope our resident eye-in-the-sky has better fortune!
Chief White Eagle |
After several hours rest White Eagle packs up and gives Tafadzwa one as well.
know nature: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
survival: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
know geography: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
White Eagle joins his group and they head out glancing skyward
This way, Southeast
After travelling across the plains before the sun sets to far White Eagle send Elangomat off to scout in the distance not exceeding 1 mile distance.
perception Elangomat: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (13) + 14 = 27
after Elangomat reports back White eagle reading his emotions for signs of danger.
White Eagle perception with Elangomat nearby: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (15) + 10 = 25
White Eagle is taking his time as they enter unfamiliar territory.
I am assuming Exploring as opposed to just travelling
Hunter Deadeye |
Mardavig, just to note Natalya buys parchment and charcoal from Oleg as well as a waterproof bag.

[dice=Perception for 1st hex]1d20+5

Alternatively you could have taken 10 and your perception would have been 15 like I did.
Thanks for leading the way Natalya. Not that I don't know my way, but I don't know what is out there, nor am I able to predict what the land ahead will become. Plus you really know how to balance exploring and time management.Matsu Miyuki |
When the party stops for the night, Miyuki will help with clearing the rest place and lay down her bedroll next to Natalya. One can see she feels safe right next to the strong woman. She will gladly help preparing the food and cleaning afterwards using her prestitigation cantrip. One can also notice she uses it a few times to clean her clothes of any sign of travel stain. She offer to take last shift, relying on her fox for better awarness. She proposes 3 shifts, but will understand if Hithil needs a full night sleep. At the campfire she will play a bambooflute for a short while in a soft silent tune, that shows deep emotions, but little formal training. Her little fox will cuddle with her in the sleep keeping her bosom warm.
Mardavig |
You encounter no difficulties as you rest that night. Although i should ask, other than a fox do you establish watches or take any precautions regarding you parolee?
The next day you set out exploring, as you do you find an area strewn with skeletons or boars, deer, bears and a few humans.
There's nothing hidden or subtle about this, so it's more a question of whether you want to explore this or just steer clear.
Natalya Artemisa |
Natalya pauses, indicating the impromptu graveyard.
I suspect this must be the hunting ground for a creature of some type, or else the disposal field for a group of creatures. I would recommend we proceed with caution, but at least try to find what has done this so we can remove the threat from the land.
She indicates a nearby human skull.
We can't let something like this keep happening if we're adhering to the spirit of our charter
Presuming no-one disagrees
Natalya checks her club is accessible, then draws her bow and readies an arrow before continuing forward.
knowledge (nature): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 13 to determine what the creature(s) might be.
perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 keeping a very close eye out.
Hithil |
Hithil pets her horse as they trot near the skeletons.
"Don't worry Zippy-Do,
I won't let that happen to you.
You will be safe with me,
Ride with me to be free.
Lift your hooves up high,
Wave your tail and sigh.
We'll be home soon."
Hithil has been very busy making a very detailed map of our path while riding. She likes to keep her head in books, but on the road she's now into making maps and singing songs to her horse.
Natalya Artemisa |
Just to note that unless circumstances dictate (for instance we are stealthing-it-up) Natalya will always relay information she knows about our surroundings and possible threats, so go ahead with posting presuming you've been told. Anything to make the time/order/posting situation easier ;)
Looks like a giant hunting spider of some sort. There are no trees or other areas for it to have a web, so I suspect it moves on the ground with either great speed or good camouflage, keep a watchful eye!
Natalya will ensure her club is within reach, you see she carries it hanging from a pair of leather loops on her pack. She then dismounts and proceeds forward cautiously, ready to draw and release her arrow at the first sign of any threat.
Matsu Miyuki |
Miyuki will also get down and grab her crossbow.
I am utterly confident we had guards all night long. We are in the unique position that everybody has means, even if it is through the eyes of a familar to see in the dark.
Hithil |
After calming Zippy-Do, she gets off the horse and holds her crossbow, knowing that she can get a shot off faster than the others with his magical senses.
Mardavig |
Natalya, Miyuki and Hithil are afoot and ahead of everyone else when a spider the size of a pony leaps out of a hole in the ground and tries to bite Natalya. Her club in hand she fends off the creature. It scuttles back into its hole and pulls a hatch made of woven silk and detritus partially over it, granting cover.
Roll for initiative.
Hithil |
Hithil has the "forewarned" special ability, allowing her to act during any surprise round (see my note above). I believe I should be allowed to shoot at the spider before it gets cover. As such, I will roll to hit with my crossbow and then roll initiative.
Crossbow Shot: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Crossbow damage if hit: 1d8 ⇒ 1 typical
Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Hithil |
As a move action Hithil loads her crossbow.
Since we don't have a combat map, I have to ask you the following to determine my next action. My top priority would be to touch Natalya to give Diviner's Fortune for a +1 all of her attack rolls, skill checks, ability checks, and saving throw for 1 round.
My second priority would be to do this to another melee oriented character near me (probably Hunter).
If neither are nearby, my third choice --
Can I hold my standard action and shoot when the spider no longer has cover? I'm not going to shoot if the spider has cover and if it never comes out, I'll just have held my action the entire round. Here is my shot roll just to speed things up if that happens so I don't have to post again:
Crossbow Shot: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Crossbow damage if hits: 1d8 ⇒ 4
Those are my three options in order of priority since I can't tell how far the players are from me. If one of those I can touch, can you let them know who gets the bonus? Thanks
Hunter Deadeye |
kind of came into this late, but init: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (17) = 22
Hunter pulls out his longsword and his swordshort. He does not have the two-weapon fighting feat, but he will use 2-weapon fighting, so he takes a massive penalty but attempts to hit the spider with both weapons. Offhand weapon is shortsword and is light.
longswordattack: 2 - 4 + 1d20 ⇒ 2 - 4 + (2) = 0 damage: 2 + 1d8 ⇒ 2 + (2) = 4
shortswordattack: 2 - 8 + 1d20 ⇒ 2 - 8 + (12) = 6 damage: 2 + 1d6 ⇒ 2 + (1) = 3
