Rory quickly realizes he's standing there with his arms full. "Yes, we'll need some supplies, my pack was in that part of the lodge, but thankfully the valuables," he olds up the scrolls, "were safe, along with the money, so I should be able to replace my father's and my things. Mrs. Strudwick, if you wouldn't mind looking after Allen, my friends, and..." he heaves the scrolls into a pile next to the sofa, "...these, the Dunne family will be in your debt."

"Not to worry dear, and how often must I remind you to call me Prema? I haven't been 'Mrs. Strudwick' in a decade!"

"Right, sorry M- er Prema," Turning to Maelius and Taldo, "Shall we then?"

As you approach the he quickly points out all the different vendors he thinks are worth your time, "If you can't find it anywhere else, talk to Keighly Van Aarle," he says pointing to an overflowing cornucopia of odds and ends emanating from a run-down tent, then he moves on saying, "If you want to feed it or ride it, that's Carina Fabian's stable there; Finally, if you want to kill it, or keep it from killing you, talk to Averill Logan, that's his smith there. If you want anything arcane, you have to buy it from the Forum; anything divine, at the Temple, but their prices are a bit fairer if you ask me, haha. I'll be around if you can't find someone who sells what you need."

Taldo waives good buy to Rory, as he goes to the smithy, entering into the small shop in the front of the smithy, looking for a moment at the weapons on the rack and then at the steel shields and helmets displayed. By the time he has gotten to the counter a large framed man with huge arms and a leather apron was there looking at him. Taldo nods and holding up two fingers says; "T..t..two I..items, ch..ch..ain m..mail ar..ar..armor a..a..a..nd a..a wa..wa..war h..h..hammer, p..p.please." he drops his hand and unhooks his pouch and opening it shows the blacksmith the color of his gold.

The large, burly and burnt Averill Logan looks Taldo up and down, saying, "Warhammer? Huh! You sound more like a rapier or a whip-weilder, haha! But it's your gold..." He hands him a set of mail that he thinks will fit him and a plain, but well-balanced warhammer.

Taldo glares at the man momentarily, as he receives the well-balanced warhammer, Taldo steps away from the counter and swings it, testing the balance, nodding his head he steps back up to the counter and says, "I..it w..w..will d..do" reaching into the purse he deposits 195 gp. on the counter, nodding to the blacksmith he shoulders the armor, and carrying the hammer walks to the stable.

Inspecting the wagons sitting outside the front he approaches Carina and asks "I..i w..w..would l..l..like t..t..t..to P..purchase," swallowing hard, he points to the medium sized wagon out front with tarp over the back Conestoga style "th..th..that w..w..wagon w..w..ith a..a Mu..mule t..t..t..team." taking a deep breath and then pointing to two of the light war horses "a..a..and t..two h..h..h..horses w..w..with t..tack f..f..for g..g..guards" wiping his forehead, almost hitting himself with the hammer wouldn't that impress the blacksmith he ponders as he continues "a..a..and f..f..f..feed f..for a..a..a w..week." breathing a heavy sigh of relief.

Seraphina, checks her gear that was passed on to her by Origen and her mother. I have a full healing kit, but what else may I need. I am not the hardiest, even Maelius can take a punch better than I. Maybe something light to protect myself.

Sera heads on over to the armor-smtih. Sir, do you by chance have a haramaki available to purchase. It is a simple silken sash lined with chainmail or articulated metal plates and tied about the stomach to protect it.

Sera then heads to grab a soft bedroll, a masterwork backpack to help carry her belongings, and finally a small tent she that we she has a place of her won to sleep and change away from the boys.

Considering the kind of horrible things they'd seen Maelius decides to splurge on protection for himself.

Another set of chain for me if you could. A bit smaller than the one for Taldo... I think Maelius grins at the blacksmith. And that small crossbow that you've got in the window if it's not just for display. And uh, what goes in them... arrows? No Bolts! Yes! 40 bolts! the young man says decisively.

Moving to Keightly, Maelius picks up a package of useful things all bundled up in a convenient kit Hey look guys, I'm a ranger! and spying a small clothier at the nicer end of the street drops in to replace his really poorly kept farmer clothes with a much smarter outfit with a lot of clever pockets and sturdy boots. He also makes sure that the clothier throws in a really fancy wide brimmed hat.

Finally he nudges Rory and whispers Hey.. you wouldn't know if anyone here might have a set of y'know picks and files.. you know in case we lock our stuff up and lose the key and have to get the chest back open... can't hurt to be prepared right?

Carnia Fabian silently makes the exchange with Taldo.

"A Hara...what now?" Averill looks at Sera bewildered, "I don't know about a sash, but I have a strip of chainmail from a cancelled order that I don't know what to do with. If you're married to the sash idea, you could probably find one at Keighly's over there. You can have it for an even 3 gold since it's not exactly what you're looking for."

At Maelius' question, Rory answers, "Oh, haha, right well, he doesn't do it for just anyone, but Decebal Hawk," he points at a shop with a picture of a lock over it, "the locksmith, will part with a set of his tools to people from out of town if they have a good reputation (and enough coin). I can come with you if you like, to vouch for you."

In addition to the 20% markup, it's a DC 15 diplomacy or bluff check to convince Mr. Hawk that you're not the type of person who would use the tools to steal from innocent citizens.

With Rory's help and a bit of diplomatic mentioning of how Maelius helped put out a fire and save Rory's little brother the two are able to convince Hawk to part with a set of tools for a (more than) fair price.

Whenever you guys are done, meet up with Maelius and Rory in front of the locksmith's.

Seraphina, after some quick shopping, will meet back up with the others in front of the locksmith.

Taldo leaves a deposit of 122 gp. for the wagon, animals and feed and goes to get his friends at the locksmith's shop, smiling at Sera's comment she's the one that talks with angels and were going to protect her? I figured it was the other way around Focusing again on the business at hand he tells them, "W..w..wagon a..a..and st..st..stuff o..ordered, g..g..gave d..d..down p..payment. w..w..will p..pay r..r..rest wh..wh..when w..w..w..w...w..we pick I..it u..up."

"Right, well, what should we do now?" The young ranger asks.

Sporting his brand new outfit, armor, and weapon, Maelius grins wide. Yeah, I think we're pretty much ready. Don't think there's anything else left for us to do here.

Sera, will don her new sash over her waist. She will double check to make sure everything is secured to the wagon like her tent and healing kit. She will than look to the others, then last Rory.

I am ready for the journey. Hopefully Sheylyn will be with us on our travels

She begins to set out in the direction of the location of the artifact in question.

After picking up the wagon and animals they head back to the house for Rory's dad. while there Taldo puts on his new armor and begins working on his old armor waiting till everyone is ready. As they get ready to leave he says. "I..I..I w..w..will d..drive th..th..the w.w..w..wagon f..first o..o..ok?"

Maelius plonks down a 100 gold and smiles. Easy come, Easy go.

Seraphina plops down another 100.

I would rather have a wagon ride then trudge through the muck getting to our destination.

Once everything--and everyone--has been loaded onto the wagon, and they're due to set out, the villagers who witnessed their helping the Dunns come to see them off. Not exactly a hero's parade, but a sign of respect nonetheless.

On the road, Rory, Taldo and Maelius notice they're being tailed by an armored warrior. The man shouts something in skald, and besets them.

Maelius is up. But before we start combat, where is everyone in the caravan (on the wagon, riding outside it, etc)? I need that info to set up a map.

Taldo was driving the wagon,

hearing shouting, Taldo, as he is driving the wagon, looks over his seeing the armored warrior Taldo, grasping the reigns starts to bring the mules to a stop. "Whoa you mule's, whoa" hhhmmmm seems Taldo has no problem talking to animals, we must inform his therapist ;)

Map is updated! I put Sera in the wagon, as you would be slowing down the party would you be walking. The wagon, though covered, can be exited from the sides. Lore is still sleeping it off. Maelius is up!

A little panicked Maelius peers out of the wagon as the man rushes to attack them.

Oh Dear! Oh Dear! What have we here? A single bandit? Nothing to Fear!

Mael's performance infuriates the attacker as he runs toward them crying out in anger, sword raised above his head. As he approaches, he brings the blade down on Mael's shoulder 13 dmg.
Rory responds with a quick arrow to their assailant's chest.

Okay, good to know. You're up too, btw. Everyone can take their turns (in case you're not familiar with the phrase "Party up!" I know everyone says it their own way).

Taldo, hearing the attack more than seeing it, jumps off of the wagon, grabbing his halberd, and moves to the back of the wagon preparing to attack the armored swordsman.

Sera can only watch as the blade slashes into Mael's shoulder. She tries to speak, but the fervor of battle causes her words to come out muddled as before

Hearing that her words are gibberish, she tries her best to help those near her, without wanting to cause harm to the bandits.

They are people too, even if they are trying to steal from us

Sera will withdraw to the front of the wagon.

Maelius takes a full withdraw action to stumble back and try to crawl under the wagon.

Aghh.. it hurts! he cries as he clutches his profusely bleeding shoulder. His ashen grey face shows how much blood he's lost and how close he is to death.

No, the attacker is on foot

With his opponents fleeing before him, the brute leaps onto the wagon at Rory, who looses an arrow which flies past his ear. The assailant swings his blade into Rory's side which causes him to wince, but doesn't stop him from putting an arrow in the swordsman's chest.

Seraphina will gently touch Maelius, a soft glow seeps into the wound, causing the deep gash to heal slightly.

as Taldo rushes to the back of the wagon he is brandishing his poleaxe yelling at the man "Stop" seeing the assailant bring his sword down at Rory, Taldo lifts his halberd high and brings it crashing down at the man.

After the insult Mael crawls under the wagon.

Infuriated by Mael's song, the man cries in a gruff voice, [b]"We'll see about that! As he whips around, drops off the wagon and brings his large sword down on the tanner, largely in a single practiced motion 12 dmg. Aiden uses this opportunity to hop off the wagon, climb up the ledge to the north, and fire a shot over the assailant's head.

as the blade of his halberd grinds and then slides off the armor Taldo shifts in an attempt to avoid the boisterous mans greatsword, to little avail, he moves with practiced grace, we are in trouble I'm lucky I bought the breastplate, my shoulder is certainly injured but that overhand chop would have split me and the hide armor in half. as he brings his halberd to bear he calls out W..w..wake u..up L..l..l..lore!" attempting to get through the swordsman's defenses, Taldo thrusts the tip of his halberd at the mans side where the joints in the armor are weak. Need a quick thrust while his sword in out of the way, not sure I could lift this axe over my head anyway, need to get this shoulder looked at...if we survive.

Sera, winces as she sees the assailant's weapon digs deep. In a heavenly voice, her tone gets more and more angered. she looks at her enemy and can get a single word out in the common tongue.

Mael crawls out of the other side of the caravan and takes the opportunity to load his crossbow.

At Sera's word, Aiden's hand cramps open and he drops his sword onto the wagon. His initial efforts to pick it up fail which frustrates him into beating on Taldo with his fists 8 non-lethal damage. Rory continues trying to help from the treeline, but is too slow for the seasoned warrior.

Does he provoke an AOO for attacking unarmed?

taldo took 12 points of damage from the first attack, which put him at 9, so the unarmed attack would put him at 1HP for non-lethal damage, correct?

good he's smart enough to listen to Sera, now maybe we can get some information from this idiot...Ow, why did he hit me, O thought he was surrendering Surprised that the brigand was still attacking without his weapon, Taldo draws the blade on his poleaxe back and thrusts it forward again, this time at the exposed leg.

No AoO. Unarmed Strike is considered a light weapon for all intents and purposes. And yes, Taldo is at 1 non-lethal.

Attacks of Opportunity: Attacking unarmed provokes an attack of opportunity from the character you attack, provided she is armed. The attack of opportunity comes before your attack. An unarmed attack does not provoke attacks of opportunity from other foes, nor does it provoke an attack of opportunity from an unarmed foe.

Weird, it doesn't say anything about it under Unarmed Strike... okay, That's Taldo's AoO. He gets another one, and Sera and Mael are also up.

I think he broke my nose Taldo's eyes start to water as his nose begins bleeding, he attacks the armored thug again, when he drops his guard and pulls back from punching Taldo. Missing the leg on the slash he attempts to bring his blades tip into the mans groin.

Taldo's halberd finds its way up the attacker's groin, busting through his pelvis and lodging itself in his diaphragm, killing him on the spot.

Seraphina lets out a very audible gasp as she sees Taldo cleave the man in two. She can only stutter in Celestial at the sight before her. Once she regains her composure and calms down from intense battle.

I didn't want the man to die. I just...just...

She says a prayer to Sheylyn to help the man's soul reach peace on the other side. She looks around to the others....

Is..is everyone okay. I have another spell to heal open wounds, but it will be my last until tomorrow
