Brachus congratulates Pallas on a well deserved victory
I have a light crossbow, so If nobody else has any use for them I'll take them. But if anyone else wants them, I'm fine with that..if I end up having to need the crossbow I think we're in trouble anyway

DM Amazing Red |

In the early afternoon, you are instructed to go to the bluff known as the Wall of Seven Winds, a 120-foot vertical cliff between New Harbor and the Grand Pavilion where the winds are known to always be particularly strong. The wind whips across the curved, sheer cliff that surrounds the cove, roiling the deep water below into a white-capped froth. Several dozen boats bob on the rough water, their decks crowded with eager spectators focused on the cliff top. You find Marthysan the Righteous standing before a small crowd atop the bluff Several dozen boats are anchored in the cove at the base of the cliff from which a larger gathering of onlookers eagerly watches the top of the wall. He hands you each a pair of silk slippers telling you to put them on. Slippers of Spider climbing.
The fight is to take place on the side of the Wall of Seven Winds, where you are to face of against Orometsu Yasi, known as the White Warrior, as well as a band of monks to even the odds. Orometsu is a stoic Tian-Min woman dressed entirely in white, with polished ivory toned armor and a helm interwoven with the intricate braids of black hair upon her head; she bows nobly at you before walking over the edge of the cliff climbing down the wall to a height of 60 feet, and stopping to wait for you to engage her. Basically if you are knocked prone, you fall unless you make a reflex save DC 15 + 1 for every ten feet you are away from the water. To blunt your fall there are sorcerors standing by to feather fall you should you fall. The object is to either knock your opponent in the water or to knock them unconscious.
B: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
C: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
M: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
O: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
P: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
S: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
V: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19
Now remember that the map is shown vertically. Marisa is first!

![]() |

Internet is limited at the moment. Just checking in. Will post tomarow afternoon.

![]() |

Just checking..are there additional rules..like for flying/air walk/water walk? ..I mean if we don't go _in_ the water but are not on the cliff..are we still out? And is this last man standing..so we can loose 3 or 4 members and still end up winning?

Before the beginning of the fight, Pallas whispers to his companions as he puts on the magical slippers. "I have recently learned a new song called the Symphony of the Elysian Heart. It is a powerful magic that will at least keep us from being grappled, although it will not prevent tripping. The magic's range is limited, however, so stay within 30 feet of me."
Will also precast good hope if possible.

![]() |

Pallas takes a close look at the feet of Orometsu Yasi and her companions to see if they are wearing the magical spider climbing slippers as well.
Perception take "10" = 19

![]() |

Pallas throws a wicked smile at both Brachus and Marisa and points at the slippers of their opponents.
EDIT: Do we start with weapons/magic items of choice drawn?

![]() |

Sorry about that. Busy weekend at a friend's house.
"Well, lets start by flinging someone off the wall then."
Marisa casts telekinesis. She swings her hand in a wide arc, as if she is grabbing someone's legs and pulling them.
trip attempt: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (19) + 17 = 36
EDIT: Target S1

DM Amazing Red |

Reflex DC18: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
Marisa telekinetically tries to knock one of the monks off his feet and succeeds, though through sheer luck is able to catch himself on the wall. Though he is still knocked prone.
The prone monk rights himself on the wall weapons in hand, a pair of solid metal blades ending in curved hooks, while the hand guards are hammered into outward-facing spiked crescents. He moves to engage Chugan.
The other two walk up and swing their weapons, all similar to the first monk's. They attempt to hook the legs of Pallas and Vahanian.
S3 vs Pallas Flatfooted CMD: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (3) + 16 = 19
S2 vs Vahanian Flatfooted CMD: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (13) + 16 = 29 I believe that gets Vahanian so I need a Reflex save DC20. He is still prone regardless. Pallas and Chugan are up!

![]() |

Pallas begins twirling in place as he steps back to get a bit more room for his spell casting. He then targets the slippers of the monk in front of him with disruptive magic.
Begin battle dance as a swift action which means that everyone within 30' of me now gets an additional 1d6 of sonic damage on every attack; 5'-step to K10; cast dispel magic on the slippers of S3: Caster level check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (20) + 12 = 32 vs. (assumed) DC 15, slippers should be temporarily made non-magical for 1d4 ⇒ 3 rounds.

DM Amazing Red |

That actually misses as I cant be caught flat footed
Ah right you are. Lethal damage is allowed but the match isn't to the death.
The monk is surprised as his slippers stop working. He drops his weapon and attempts to catch himself on the wall.
ReflexDCDC: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
And he falls to the water below. One of the sorcerors immediately casts feather fall so the monk slowly floats to the water.

![]() |

When its my turn.
V smiles seeing the monk in front of him, he then rages and attempts to bulrush the monk off!
Bullrush: 1d20 + 21 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 21 + 2 = 26
Sigh.... He gets an AoO

![]() |

Noted
Normally in this circumstance, Chugan would use his Jaunt Boots to move around the monk and flank him. Sadly, alternate footwear was necessary for this fight and therefore other options were needed. Stepping "back" away from the monk, Chugan first focuses deeply for a few seconds, then flies into a controlled fury.
5' to I10, enter Trance of the Monkey, then free-action controlled rage for +4 dex. AC goes to 32, CMD goes to 31

DM Amazing Red |

Chugan steps back and enters the fabled Monkey Stance. The woman known as Orometsu moves to the mage who tried to throw off her comrade and goes for a different approach to this battle, nodachi drawn.
Power Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26
1d10 + 18 ⇒ (2) + 18 = 20
Cold Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Vahanian attempts to bullrush his target off the wall with no success as he is attacked in the attempt.
Tripping AOO!: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (17) + 16 = 33 Now Vahanian can give me that Reflex save DC20. Brachus and Marisa are up!

![]() |

Reflex: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18 Wow.... That was quick.... I hate fluffy fights.
V begins to fall slowly towards the water. Very upset.

DM Amazing Red |

Vahanian fails to catch himself and plummets to the water below. However, unlike the monk that fell before him, Vahanian is not protected by a spell and hits the water hard. Perhaps someone forgot to do their job?
Vahanian takes..
Nonlethal: 2d3 ⇒ (1, 1) = 2
Lethal: 2d6 ⇒ (2, 2) = 4

![]() |

Vahanian fails to catch himself and plummets to the water below. However, unlike the monk that fell before him, Vahanian is not protected by a spell and hits the water hard. Perhaps someone forgot to do their job?
Pallas actually has feather fall as one of his spells, so I could have cast it on him. If you want to keep it (in order to advance the plot), we'll just say that I somehow missed seeing him fall or something.

![]() |

OK, we'll say I cast it on him. Since I have a monk in my face, however, I have to cast defensively. Since I have a +18 Concentration check mod, I can't fail a DC 17 check, however, so it automatically succeeds.]
Pallas grimaces as he sees Vahanian lose his grip and start tumbling towards the water.
Oh well, the Tian sorcerers will catch him, but I'm sorry to see his strength leave the contest ...
A split-second later, Pallas realizes that his companion is still tumbling towards the waves.
Without thinking, the Keleshite reaches out with his magic to arrest Vahanian's fall, ignoring the fact that he has a powerful martial artist standing right in front of him. Casting feather fall as an immediate action, which means I lose my next swift action.

![]() |

"..that dispelling trick worked wonderful. A shame I didn't study that spell this morning..but they are in a perfect area for a sound burst...let's try that one and see where it will get us..'
Brachus starts to clap his hands together, louder and louder producing a shockwave of sound
(Casting sounds burst, going by the map I get all 3 enemies and no party members)
Sonic damage: 1d8 ⇒ 8 no save for the damage, fort save DC 19 or stunned for 1 round
Concentration check to cast defensively target =15+(2*2)=19: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (16) + 17 = 33
Crowd pleasing roll for using sonic damage: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

![]() |

At this point I'd like to point out that stunned targets drop their weapons and we are hanging from a cliff side....so...watch your head Vahanian...incoming sharp object from above..you might want to duck out of the way..or catch some to try to impress the crowd ;)
Oh, and they loose their dex and we get a +4 on combat maneuvers against them..so that should help as well. Let's makes some use of that next round.

![]() |

Sorry. I was in the hospital most of the day today. I cut myself pretty bad by accident. So now I can't use my let hand for a few days. Thankfully insurance covers the bill for the most part. Hurts like a b&~$~ though.
Marisa tries to violently throw her nearest opponent away from the wall.
telekinesis: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (13) + 17 = 30

DM Amazing Red |

Well that sucks.
O Ref: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
And Orometsu is flung into the water! The remaining unstunned Monk steps forward and tries to knock Marisa and Pallas off the wall.
VS Pallas: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (2) + 16 = 18
The monk drops his weapon instead of falling off the cliff.
VS Marisa: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16 I believe Marisa owes me a reflex save. The party is up though.

![]() |

The dervish throws Marisa a quick smile as she hurls their main opponent into the water. Still spinning perpendicular to the side of the cliff, Pallas then conjures another spell that breaks the enchantment on the nearest monk's magical spider slippers.
This contest is going remarkably well, and thank Sarenrae that we are not killing our opponents on this one. Mercy must be shown to all who deserve it.
Free action to continue battle dance (giving everyone +1d6 sonic damage within 30'), cast targeted dispel magic on the slippers of spider climbing of monk S2 as standard action.
Concentration check to cast defensively vs. DC 21: 1d20 + 22 ⇒ (4) + 22 = 26
Caster level check vs. DC 15: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28

DM Amazing Red |

Flex: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
And the monk falls to the water. I'm calling it. Combat is over.
The party wins the contest and is awarded a ring of feather fall.
Immediately after the completion of your exhibition round against Orometsu Yasi, the Emissary summons you back to the Grand Pavilion for your official second round match. In the center of the arena stand three towershaped scaffolds constructed of wood and metal. Tangles of rope ladders connect two fighting platforms, one 20 feet above the round and the other 40 feet above it. The Emissary permits you and your opponent a minute to prepare for the battle, whether that is healing or casting beneficial spells.

![]() |

Pallas will cast good hope on the party and subtract 1 minute from its duration. That's my last 3rd level spell for the day, so someone else will have to provide the haste.
Pallas will also try to talk with the Emissary. Does he speak common? If so, I have a few questions for him on our way to the next contest.

![]() |

Brachus notes the scaffolding and the rope ladders
He then whispers to the other party members (out of ear shot of our opponents in case they are close)
"Time for some air walking?"

![]() |

"Or do we simply huddle up together and I'll dimensional door our heavy hitters next to our opponents and you guys just chop whomever I land you next to into very small pieces?"

![]() |

Pallas pulls the Emissary over for a short conversation with the party.
"Pardon me, Emissary, but we wish to have a short discussion about our last event. We were told that in this morning's contest, anyone who lost his grip on the cliff face would be caught by magic. I am sure you are already aware of this, but my companion Vahanian here was not, in fact, caught; I had to rescue him from a rather painful impact with the water through my own magic. Far be it from me to besmirch the otherwise unsullied reputation of the Ruby Phoenix Tournament, but I would be quite curious if there is a logical explanation for this unfortunate event."
Diplomacy check: 1d20 + 24 ⇒ (17) + 24 = 41

![]() |

Brachus notes the scaffolding and the rope ladders
He then whispers to the other party members (out of ear shot of our opponents in case they are close)
"Time for some air walking?"
Pallas nods in agreement at the Caydenite's suggestion.
"Having our own way of flying around might prove quite useful."

![]() |

reflex save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Marisa will cast haste on the party on the first round of combat.

DM Amazing Red |

Pallas pulls the Emissary over for a short conversation with the party.

[dice=Diplomacy check]1d20+24
"I did notice that. I originally attributed it to being distracted but I will endeavor to speak to my sorcerors. You are correct that it brings great dishonor to the tournament and to the people in it." The Emissary replies in a slow gravelly voice. "Let us hope that it is only a foolish mistake."

![]() |

Pallas bows deeply in a way that he hopes is respectful to the Emissary. "We shall both live in that hope then. Thank you for your consideration on this matter. Before you leave, though, is this our group's final event for the day?"
I will also precast mirror image on myself, which gives me 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 images.

![]() |

Did my perfect swan dive impress the crowd?
V puts hit boots back on. "Whats the point of this one? I had water in my ear." He asks taking out a potion of enlarge person to drink just before the start.

![]() |

Brachus casts communal air walk on everyone (20 minutes each should be enough for this battle) and because he has some time to spare, guidance on everyone and I'll cast virtue (1 temp hp) on myself, Pallas, Chugan and Vahanian (guidance as last..so those should last at least for 5 more rounds)
He then whispers"I just made it so that everyone can walk on air as if it's solid ground.Everyone but Marisa stay close to me, after we get the haste I will teleport us close to an enemy"
I can dim door 3 people and myself, should make for a nasty surprise for someone

![]() |

Chugan nods to the caster types and just starts focusing on the fight ahead. This was looking like a different, but interesting, sort of challenge. Still, he wasn't worried.
Only thing for Chugan will be the last round before we start, he'll enter his Dragon (style) trance.

After you finish casting your spells you are led up the towers to the top. Standing on the opposite tower is a LARGE Vudrani woman wielding a wicked kukri.
Chugan, Marisa, and Vahanian are up!
