Brachus' declaration finally gets the attention of the feasters and they stop their revelry. A few rush over to see if they can help. The servers also stop their work in shock. "No, we do not believe so. Let us get him to a healer." One of the servers suggests grabbing onto Chugan to help him. Risha and her friends start shaking their heads at the display as they get up to leave.

After getting the necessary attention, Cuban starts acting feint and says weakly while gasping.
"Just get me back to camp"

Noticing Pallas arriving, Chugan makes a subtle glance at him and then at the suspect bowl of soup as he starts to "pass out".

Once they are outside the venue and out of sight of any onlookers, Pallas turns to the tengu.
"What in the seven Hells was that? Why were you pretending to choke?"

![]() |

Making sure noone was looking, but still speaking weakly just in case, Chugan said,"Was going for poisoned actually. Brachus noted Risha and her friends going out of their way to avoid all that lovely food and then I noticed something suspicious in the food. Was hoping to both raise everyone else's suspicions to mitigate the damage and see what her reaction would be. Looks like it had the desired effect."

Pallas gives Chugan a quizzical look. "I wasn't watching Risha. How did she react? What do you think it means?"

![]() |

"They just shook their heads and left when Chugan started to make a scene. It's not solid evidence to proof they did anything...but we might want to be careful around them from now on"

How did my impromptu date go with Vahanian go?
When we finally end up at Rei's house, I'll do some gather information chatting up with her, trying to get a feel for our potential future opponents, and get some recent news.

Rei greets Marisa with a friendly hug. "It is great to see you again. You have been doing very well in the tournament. I'm sure you'll do well in the archery competition tommorrow. I hear the Honorable White Warrior is fighting tommorow. Her skill with a nodachi is unmatched. I wonder who she'll do battle against. I wish you much more good luck in the tournament."

![]() |

About what time is it now? Is there still time to do stuff, or is it bedtime?

![]() |

Pallas looks around to anyone who is currently with him. "Anyone want to go for a walk in the woods?"

![]() |

Pallas shrugs. "Somewhere not too far away. I have heard rumors of the Aspis Consortium and the Golden League being up to no good around here. Perhaps they might have a camp somewhere in the jungle."
Have I heard of any specific locations?

![]() |

You think they might be in the city and participating in the tournament.
Oh, that changes things quite a bit. In that case, anyone want to go ask around some with me?

![]() |

After some good dinner and conversation and some friendly talk, Marisa will turn in for the night. But before she does, she gives V a nice peck on the cheek and a wink. "I had a lot of fun tonight. Maybe tomorrow we might do something just between us, ne?"
I think I don't have anything to do for the rest of this night, unless something unexpected happens.

![]() |

Oh, well, Pallas was going to go around town and see if he could find out any more info about the Aspis or the Golden Path.

The Golden League is the local crime syndicate. Word is they have at least one competitor in the tournament if not a few and they are not above cheating to win. You also here some more word of Aspis being in this tournament as well.
Chugan give me a fort save please.

After hearing the information they have gathered Brachus turns to Pallas [b]"I don't think we will find anything of interrest anymore tonight. We might as well return and get a good night rest and be fit for the competition tommorow

![]() |

Pallas nods and stifles a yawn. "I agree, we want to be sharp for the fights tomorrow morning. I just wish we could find out a little more about the other competitors. In any case, let's keep a close eye on everyone. I don't much like getting stabbed in the back."
Pallas heads to bed.

Chugan Fort: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18 Chugan is fine.
Dawn comes, and the Emissary’s monks walk from tent to tent with hot tea and bowls of rice porridge sweetened with sticks of sugarcane. New flags fill above the pavilion and the arena is set for the next event. The number of remaining contestants is half the number who began yesterday, but many of those who were eliminated now fill the grandstands, making the crowd seem even more overwhelming.
For this competition, a number of targets have been set up around the arena, and each team is granted a total of 10 arrows to use as they see fit among the three targets designated for their use. The fist target is a mundane bull’s-eye with fie concentric colored rings. The second target has been magically augmented to grant it concealment (20% miss chance), as if it were a creature affected by the blur spell. The fial target has been further augmented to grant it displacement, as per the spell, and a 50% miss chance. So do you want to elect one person or do you all want to try? You get 10 shots total and the higher ac you hit on each target, the more points you get. You are not allowed to dispel the targets but you can overcome the miss chances with spells on yourself i.e. true strike/true seeing.

![]() |

I'm decent with a bow while dancing: with good hope and haste cast, I have a +26 modifier with my +2 bow. May we use our own bow? Also, how close are the targets?

![]() |

Are we allowed to use a crossbow instead?

![]() |

Well, if the target is within 40 feet, I can cast echolocation on myself, which means I'd ignore both concealment and displacement since it gives me blindsight.

![]() |

Sounds like we have a winner....I have like a +5 or something with a bow and still suffer miss chance. Unless we know in advance what the competition will be for the day and I can pick spells based on that..and then Pallas still will be better at it I think

![]() |

"Go Pallas. Go show how good of a shot you are!"

![]() |

Just to check..are we allowed to buff our champion? Or is it self buff only? Otherwise I'll cast guidance before every shot. Possibly more/other spells if we know the rules in advance and can prepare for it

![]() |

Here are my modifiers with haste, good hope, and battle dance. If anyone can add to them (insight, alchemical, luck, or sacred/profane?), please list it here:
9 BAB + 6 Dex +6 competence +2 enhancement +2 morale +1 untyped= +26

![]() |

Seems I can't boost you that much then. Guidance is competence, bless/aid, etc are morale..dex enhancement also doesn't stack with your belt..I'll do a prayer for +1 luck ..and that's it then I think

![]() |

Soooo ... do you want to set the scene, or do I just make a lot of attack rolls?

DM Amazing Red |

Pallas volunteers to be the champion for his team. He steps up to his mark, bow in hand, quiver strapped to his back.
"And introducing the next competitor, representing the Dragons of Absalom, give a welcome to Pallas Morningstar!" The announcer yells to a thunderous chorus of cheers. The sun is slowly rising as the Keleshite man stares at his three targets. You can go ahead, :)

![]() |

Pallas will previously have cast good hope on himself, and I'm assuming Brachus has cast prayer.
Pallas calmly breathes as he faces the morning sun, singing a morning prayer to the Dawnflower as he strings his bow. He then begins a rhythmic, dance-like swaying as he pulls three arrows from the quiver holding each by the fletchings. He then intones two quick spells (casting haste, echolocation), then with three quick, precise movements, fires his arrows at the target.
I'm assuming I get 3 rounds to fire the arrows, and don't have to get them all off in a single round.
Arrow 1: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (6) + 25 = 31
Arrow 2: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (5) + 25 = 30
Arrow 3: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (4) + 25 = 29
Wow, that's bad. I'll use my shirt reroll on the last one: Arrow 3 reroll: 1d20 + 29 ⇒ (17) + 29 = 46

![]() |

Oh, in that case can I retroactively take back my re-roll?
Arrow 4: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (18) + 25 = 43
Arrow 5: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (13) + 25 = 38
Arrow 6: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (18) + 25 = 43
Arrow 7: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (8) + 25 = 33
Arrow 8: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (20) + 25 = 45
Arrow 9: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (6) + 25 = 31
Arrow 10: 1d20 + 25 ⇒ (9) + 25 = 34

Yes you can.
With deft precision, Pallas scores a hit on every target, eliciting a cheer from the crowd with every successful shot. The party is awarded a set of six arrows and a pair of fine bracers.
You get lesser archery bracers and five arrows of slaying. One is attuned to outsiders(fire), two are attuned to outsiders(lawful), one is attuned to humanoid(human), one is attuned to constructs, and the last one is attuned to humanoid(giants).

Should I hang on to these or does anyone else want some of these?
EDIT: Also, does anyone want the archery braces? My battle dance gives me a competence bonus, so they are really wasted on me.
